Well placed 5 mins walk to centre of Chester, 2 mins walk to nearest pub, and railway station, rooms are ok beds very comfortable.

The hotel is dated the rooms could do with doing up to put the price was ok it was ok for a few days but I've been to a lot better places.

Awful. Where to begin, this place is dated, run down and is not of an acceptable standard in this day and age. Booked a room for myself and was allocated a twin (why not a double? None left most likely, which is tolerable) Ok, beds and mattresses were in poor condition, I've had better nights sleep on a carpeted floor. Bathroom was incredibly small to the point of it being claustrophobic, stench of stagnant water/damp, toilet was very cramped between two walls. Had I've been a larger person it would have been completely unusable. Shower pressure non existent and almost impossible to obtain desired temperature. Television 'taped' to the wall bracket, dirty window frames, carpets need replacing as they are also dated, unclean and just worn out. Room door also had a huge crack in it which didn't seem secure and had a number of bodged repairs to it. Two good points to conclude. Reasonably priced but this should not be a factor in the minimum standard of quality expected of any hotel. Also good location near train station and amenities. However, I will not be staying here again. Overall, an unacceptable standard, EVEN for the price £30 per night.

The people could not have been more helpful. It is an economy hotel and provides good service for the price. I would certainly return. Some very good restaurants in the vicinity.

The hotel itself is dated, but the reasonable price is reflected in this, staff are really friendly, very quiet aswell.

Simple room but did the job. Curtains didn't shut properly and there was no shower, only a bath. But comfy and had a tv. What more do you need?

Convenient location, bit tired could do with updating. Friendly staff and reasonable price. 10 minutes walk to center of Chester.

Good value for money. Slept well after quite a few drinks. Only problem was the bar was closed for renovations.

Polite staff. Had problem with room as radiator had leak and room smelt damp with should have been spotted my staff. Quickly shorted with new room. Sadly for a Prime position hotel it appears run down and less than budget along with outdated decor. Worse was the bad nights sleep because the mattress springs was sticking in my ribs and hip bone. Felt sore for many hours afterwards. The positive is that it's 2 mins walk from train station and 5 mins to city centre.

There's a lady called Helen there she is fantastic can't fault her the rooms were little dated but they were nice.

It was dire! I arrived Friday afternoon, with a snowstorm outside and — 2C outside. The heating wasn't working in the rooms. It was freezing. Seriously?! As a goodwill gesture they should be refunding me my money. An experience never to be repeated. This hotel needs gutting and a refurb.

On arrival there was a lovely woman called Helen. After that it was horrible the rooms are small damp and very dated. The rest of the staff were awful I had a twin room and I wasn't allowed a guest into my room, it was so embarrassing they actually shouted us. They said it was because they had a theft previously. Wish I stayed at the quartz my friend stayed there and it was modern and cheaper and the staff were friendly. I would never stay there again they had a single workman there touching up paint so the place stunk of paint. They need a whole refurbishment and not paint over the mold.

What a fantastic little place proper tacky and full of character. Me and my man stayed here last night we loved it. Friendly staff. Think we staggered back after a night on the town about 1 am. Had a fantastic sleep. Shame we missed brrakfast… kitchen looked spottless… defo be staying again.

Myself and my partner was staying there thru the council sadly my partner passed away the staff were so kind helpful to us very clean hotel.

Central location with a reasonable room. Great for one night but you wouldn't want to stay there much longer!

If Basil Fawlty had a hotel in Chester this would be it, minus the humour obviously… Terribly dated, showers and toilet seats broken, staff who are unhelpful and inept, avoid at all costs, staying under a motorway bridge would be more cosy.

Staff are very friendly but the hotel is a little run down. That said good location if you are going to the races at Chester as it is a short distance from the train station and a 20 minutes walk to the race course.

The Belgrave is a cheap and cheerful hotel that serves a purpose. Luxury you will not find here, however there are beds, washing and toilet facilities, four walls and a ceiling.

Truely puts Faulty Towers in the shade! In urgent need of full overhaul by a keen eyed developer due to location. Feet stick to worn an outdated carpet, bar restaurant and loos outdated and basic. Staff Inc manager unhelpful v. Rude the point of being aggressive and obnoxious. Given the variety of Close by accommodation options this outdated hotel offers little comfort and certainly little competition to existing nearby hotels. note: No disabled access, understanding nor empathy re disability.

Very friendly staff, excellent location with easy access to the train station, Good value for money. Definitely would go there again.

Bed was comfy and the hotel was in a prime location for exploring Chester and had easy access to the train station. There was no plug3for the bath in our room but we made do with blocking it. However the lady on reception was extremely pleasant and I'm sure if we'd have asked she would have done something about it, but the belgrave suited us for our needs without a doubt.

This Hotel obtained money from me by deception. I rang to enquire about a room and was told they were fully booked so I made a reservation elsewhere. A couple of days later I was called by a lady who asked was I still interested in the room I'd booked (I assumed it was from the hotel I'd actually booked. I gave them my card details and thought nothing more about it. When I checked my statement I discovered The Belgrave had taken £59 from my account. I rang them and they (Lisa) said " Oh we called you during the week to confirm the booking" I explained that the lady who contacted me didn't make it clear she was calling from The Belgrave and had I known that I would have cancelled the other Hotel as it was miles away from Chester. I rang several time to speak to the manager and left my number for them to contact me. I've not received any follow up from them and to be honest I don't expect to. The hotel itself is quite run down and the rooms are exactly as others have described in other reviews. The only plus is the location. Needless to say I won't be staying here again.

Safety issue open wiring to fire alarm. Toilet flush not working properly. We were on tight schedule to be in town so had no time to be able to get a room change. Paid on arrival so could not negotiate a fair price and no courteous percentage refund was even offered when we left very disappointed with our stay. Glad we didn't book a breakfast £4.50 each. Sorry never had to give anywhere a bad review but this hotel and customer relations was poor.

The Belgrave is great value for money. Stayed there for a few nights. Room was heaven, staff were great and the breakfast was brilliant.
