This is a really nice hotel nice and central for the pubs and there is a shopping centre opposite and lots of shops on the street next to it. The rooms are clean and our bathroom was a good size. The staff were very pleasant in all departments. The one thing our party was not keen on was being served the cooked breakfast, they do prefer to help themselves but the food was nice with a good choice. I would stay again in the hotel but Peterborough is to far away from Newmarket races for my liking.

Decent breakfast and central location. Room was a little dated though and very warm. Fan didn't touch the sides so required the window (which seemed to open onto a flat roof accessible by other rooms' windows) to be open all night. A number of DIY filled holes around the room. Shower leaked all over floor even when using curtain as instructed. No coffee in room. Didn't check out the other facilities.

Classic coaching inn. Friendly and efficient staff. Clean and comfortable room. Great central location. Guaranteed car parking.

A cracking hotel! Very smart for what I paid for a room. Great cooked breakfasts. Located in the bang on centre of town which was nice. Want disturbed by the Saturday night noise at all and was on the first floor. The bar is really quite expensive when compared to other pubs/bars locally. Great experience overall. Makes being in Peterborough a bit more tolerable.

Thought I was having a grand high here Saturday 28 April but had the worst high tea ever! The staff and the afternoon manager was not professional at all. This was a Xmas present from my friend and was mislead into buying it.! Was told it was a savoury and high tea mixture for 4 people! There was only 3 of everything sandwiches, scones and cakes! because the savoury was for 1 person couldn't have 4 of everything else! was not enough savoury for all of us! And there was nothing savoury about it at all! The scones was dry, coffee was cold and very bitter, and the wine! was told when buying it for £45 for 2 people, we got 2 glasses each! We got 1 each! We question this with the staff the first girl couldn't understand us at all what we were enquiring! The second waitress was a bit more helpful. And then the afternoon? Manager came over. We tried to explain to him what we was led to believe we were getting and was very disappointed in what we did get! He didn't seemed bothered what we had to say at all. Told us his opinion on what we got was right and no way we were told and sold differently! We are not LIARS! This was the first and last time we ever come to your hotel your staff are not professional and there was nothing GRAND about your hightea!

Don't let the view from the car park, or indeed the difficulty finding the car park, put you off this clean, comfortable hotel. Friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Excellent shower.

Clean and tidy with nice staff. Unfortunately room 124 has an air conditioning unit next to the window, this did not turn off at all during my stay and sent a droning noise into the room keeping me awake. I was allowed to park motorcycle near rear entrance door and out of site from the public which was really good.

In an nutshell: Good quality/quantity food, (very) bad service. Do not use 'secure' the car park! (See the details below. ) + Good quality and quantity of food. — Despite a pre ordered menu, the same members of staff asked whether and what we wanted to order. — Staff was very slow. Water was ordered, there requested amount was not brought — neither were any glasses to drink it out of. — The distribution of food and drink took a very long time. — Despite what is claimed by the website, the car park is not safe! One of our cars was broken into and we later learned that it was not the first time that fortnight. A quick list of the staffs reaction: • no support or help (access to telephone, computer, etc), empathy or interest were provided or offered by any member of staff or management • a refusal to call the police • the injured member of our party (due to shards of glass) was not offered any kind of medical attention or indeed help of any kind (a first aid kit was provided once specifically requested) • initial refusal to log the incident as having occurred • denial of the car park being linked to the hotel The list goes on, but I believe there is little point in listing every last detail. A quick quote however from the website: ‘There is ample secure and free car parking for all hotel guests whilst staying at the hotel (…). ’

Very nice traditional English hotel well located in the centre of Peterborough. Decent size rooms with a shower that tall people fit under! Good size secure car park at the rear, that leads you straight into the hotel. Breakfast was ample and we'll cooked. Choice of coffees would have been good at breakfast and my room was a bit noisy from the kitchen extractor fan, but would stay again.

Food is really good and rooms are warm and reasonably comfortable. Unfortunately the air conditioning was quite noisy. Bar staff were excellent but breakfast was a little slow.

Wow a big makeover! Pleasant rustic layout with small restaurant section adjoining the bar. Really nice. Still small but perfectly formed! Menu is very user friendly! Sandwiches we had on rustic bread with ham n mustard, roast pork and stuffing were delicious and was £5.95 with a salad and dressing and crisps. Good value. Cooked options looked like healthy portions. Give it a try it's good value and very welcoming!

Played here for new year's Eve. Lovely venue, staff were fantastic, bedroom was comfy and food was good (we only had sandwiches at the bar but they were nice and well presented). The guests at the event had a great night and the venue had clearly put a lot of thought into the evening and their package, which clearly paid off. Only tiny niggles were heating being difficult to control in the bedroom, lighting wasn't bright enough to do make up well and the room was a little predictable and middle of the road — not as nice as the communal areas. Certainly nothing bad to report, most definitely more good than bad. I'd stay again if in the area :)

Nice historic place good for a function staff mixed bunch some very good some can't be botherd meaning some bar staff and waiter's but generally good.

Nice room. Awful untrained staff at the bar. Not what it was… you can see the owners are filling it with cheap young Labour without any thought for customer experience.

Very comfortable traditional hotel right in the centre of Peterborough. Easy access to the station — about 10 minutes walk and large private car park. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Pity the real ale had run out… that cost you a star I'm afraid!

Excellent city centre hotel with great rooms. Very clean and excellent staff. Nice bar and restaurant. Best location for a trip to the city … highly recommended.

Attended graduation for UCP as member of lecturing staff. Very proud of the students and Bull staff were very accommodating.

Nice setting and interesting decor. Room was perfectly fine, bed comfortable, didn't stay for breakfast but looked good!

My experience was disappointing. The service was nothing more than mediocre. The food they served was rather blah compared to what we experienced elsewhere. The Tea shop at The Cathedral has better tasting food at a fraction of the price. The room keys you swipe 10-15 times and still may not grant access. And you must find the secret switch (es) that allows the convenient switch (es) to work. There were cracks in the walls & corners (r313) and the grout lines in the shower were dirty. The beds/sheets were clean and comfortable. (Thank You) Not a bad place to stay… just over priced for the service they provide.

Good hotel, just after staying here 4 times in the last year I have never felt that the staff here really give their all in being polite and welcoming. My last stay here was the worst of the four visits. Disappointing in terms of service but a pleasant enough stay which is comfortable enough.

Been to a few events here and it's definitely one of the nicest hotels in the area. Great food and really nice rooms!

Visited for afternoon tea. The restaurant was almost completely empty; we were seated immediately and there was little delay before the food arrived. The sandwiches were basic but unlike a trend I've noticed elsewhere were not dry. The scone and cakes were good, the sparkling wine nice if nothing special and the tea hot and plentiful. Good value, well looked after, happy to recommend.

Excellent service and food was delicious. The lady who served us was very thoughtful and treat my dad like he was a king, helping him to our table and gave him extra care. Well done to you all.

Good facilities and really nice food. Would be five stars except for the parking. Not enough spaces and if we had found a space the charge would have been extortionate.

I went for a beverage at the bar with a friend and the bar staff were very friendly and helpful. They were welcoming even though it was late at night and they advised that public have to leave at midnight unless staying as a guest in a room. They gave us extra time to finish our drinks so we left at half past 12. It was a good experience and will definitely go again.

If I could give 0 stars, I would! Corridors stank of alcohol as we walked to our room, as I don't drink this wasn't a very nice welcome. Room was freezing as we entered, thank God heating was working just fine. My main thing was the music. Walls were shaking due to the pounding music coming from downstairs. This lasted until 1am! I felt the need to double check if I had booked a night out or a hotel for a good night's sleep. Let's hope the breakfast makes up for it in the morning. Bed was shockingly small (short), didn't think I'd need to check out measurements online for a 4star hotel!

This is truly a grest hotel! smack in the middle of peterborough but when you are inside its like being transported back to the years of our great great grandparents. Quality is the NO1 HERE, food is excellent, beers the same and service first class, rooms are very comfortable and quiet considering the hotel position. If you have any dealings with the staff, assitant manager andrew very professional and shannon from the office a delight to deal with. Many thanks for your great service. Just went for a few drinks, really nice atmosphere and reasonable price drinks. The toilets where clean and tidy but just had a slight smell to them. Seating areas where cozy and relaxing.

Popped in for Sunday dinner. Lovely staff, great food and reasonably priced.

My room was lovely and almost too comfortable to get up in the morning! The staff were friendly and also very helpful when I realised that I had left an item behind in the room. The bar area is very relaxed and was a lovely place to have a few quiet drinks with friends in the late evening.

I love the bed and breakfast feel to it. The rooms are adorable and warm. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Food is also good. Smack in the middle of town so everything is within reach. Including some peri peri chicken from nandos.

Great little room. Arrived around 1am agter 30 hours on planes and trains. The cool little pub off the lobby was still open. Room was very nice, with a tiled bathroom, warm shower, free Wi-Fi. Couldn't crawl out of bed in time for breakfast though.

Apparently has 4 AA stars. It deserved every one of them. Professional and amenable staff, interesting surroundings, comfortable well presented rooms finished to a high standard. They even had an iron! I never get an iron, but usually need one. Breakfast was nice.

Worst nights sleep ever! Paper thing walls permitted me to hear every cough, fart and hiccup of the ogre in the next room. Consistently and loudly clearing his throat for 2 hours, then after a small respite of 10 mins proceeded to snore like a bear all night.

Do not use this hotel my mum was robbed here by a person called Trev, who the staff known by the staff and they still let him in.

Absoloutly beautiful hotel. Staff very pleasant. Room spotless. Breakfast wonderful. BUT £23.00 for two sandwiches on room service,,,, eek. Would definatly stay again.

Went here for an evening meal. Was not impressed. Service was out the window. The mains were OK but the starter and drinks were a mess. I ordered a Stella. Instead of telling me they were out, they just threw a fosters on the table and told me they were out of Stella. That's not how you serve drinks.

I had a positive experience here. Rooms were clean, modern and well kept (coffee, tea and biscuits always restocked). Reception was courteous. Location was good. Breakfast was good too. Some people have said bad things about the food and prices for the lunch and evening meals, but who eats lunch or dinner at the hotel anyway? I mean, c'mon.
