The food was tasty but there wasn't particularly a lot of it. (I could have eaten double the amount! ). The one thing I found especially disappointing was the service. The staff weren't friendly in the slightest. When we ordered our dessert, one of our group had a coffee. That was brought out to us quickly, then there was at least a fifteen minute wait for our dessert. I had to approach the bar to enquire about it. I was assured it was on its way, then waited a further ten minutes. Obviously my friend had finished his coffee and then had to sit whilst we ate. We then had to approach the bar again for our bill, only to wait an age for that too.

Felt inconvient for being there when I first arrived. Food was great but service let this place down massively. Not checking if meals were ok until plates were cleared. 10 minute wait for first drink after order was taken. Left sat waiting to order with the three staff just walking around and talking. I saw a lady opposite be sat down with a menu and left for a good 10-15 minutes before drinks or her food order were taken. It was not even very busy. Shall be avoiding this place if I ever return to the area.

Pre-booked a family dinner for 8. So disappointing. Service was very poor (we waited ages for everything, no plates, wrong orders) the food was either average (some main meals), inedible (bread was stale, crumble was rock hard) or not cooked as asked (steaks — all arrived well done despite what people had been asked and replied). Don't blame the youngsters doing their best, but no one appeared to be in charge and no system around services (other than mandatory 10% service charge). We would not go again.

I've never bothered to review anywhere before but I needed to share. This is the worst place I have ever eaten on a business trip. After complaining about my first meal, a piece of soggy fish on a pile of shells swimming in a broth served with no spoon, I was given a chewy stroganoff covered in pea shoots which didn't seem to serve any real purpose. Fortunately the second meal was edible, if not incredibly disappointing. I quickly ate, paid and left. If they weren't walking distance from two hotels in the middle of nowhere they would certainly go out of business. Do yourself a favour and drive somewhere else.

Excellent pub, catering for people with food allergies impressive. Staff very friendly and efficient. Drinks expensive but overall a very pleasant stay.

Friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere, quality food and a good bar. Situated next to the Holiday Inn, well kept grounds for socialising outside weather permitting.

Visited the pub for a conference, lovely venue but slightly inappropriate for a conference, couldn't hear speakers and powerpoint not high enough for delegates at the back to see. Food was ok but nothing special. Otherwise lovely place, imagine its nice for a drink or meet up with friends or family.

This review is for the restaurant. We were first of all asked (rather abruptly) to pay a £ 5 parking deposit (refundable if we spent over £10) which was quite unnecessary as we had booked Sunday dinner for 4 and had produced a £ 50+ voucher towards it! There was a delay in the food arriving and when it did it was lukewarm and the portions were very small for the charge made! The main course consisted of two small slices of meat placed on top of the vegetables: three, half and cold hard roast potatoes, some tired, tiny and discoloured pieces of cauliflower and a few undercooked carrots. On top of this "pile" was perched a cold and tough Yorkshire Pudding. The waitress had to be reminded to bring the sauces and the gravy and they only came after we had started to eat the main course. The dessert was in one case (a fruit crumble) stone cold. No redemption here! The terms of the terms of the voucher were unclear and the overall cost was exorbitant. Very poor value. You can get better food elsewhere.

Food awesome but wine list was out of date. Everything we adked for eas not there. Just that little something that should he better.

My mum and I had a lovely afternoon tea for Mother’s Day here. Food was good, service was excellent — nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend.

Looks like a lovely place had a drink there with a friend going to eat there next time.

It's a 500 year old building, but it's very well conserved, it was all very clean and tidy, the service was excellent, and the breakfas is delicious, very Recomendable.

Nasty room, terrible food, loud music all night. I waited over an hour for my food. When it arrived it was still frozen in the middle. I went to my room hungry only to be kept awake by extremely loud music. This really is a terrible hotel. Cambridge is a 10 minute train ride away with hotel options. This really should be your last resort.

A friendly team but they should make a discount to people over 1, 80m. Indeed this very old hotel is certainly well maintained and in good condition but the rooms are the size of the people who lived 500 years ago.

Local Pub where it's good to go for a beer and eat. Typically English. On the other hand, obligatory reservation in the evening.

Interesting place very old 13th century, the fish was good and you can use your drinks voucher from the Holiday Inn next door at the bar. Very close to the railway station and very handy for the Imperal War Museum at Duxford.

Captive audience from the Holiday Inn thus prices are high for both food and drinks (£16-£23 main course and £4.70 a pint) and a 10% service charge is added… That said the staff are really helpful, the food is excellent across the relatively small but varied menu, well cooked and flavourful and served in good time in a busy restaurant. Tiny scoops of ice cream though for desert! Good atmosphere.

Excellent food and service, with taste card offers, must call in advance. Food is "gastro pub" style, with recent awards and local produce used. Never had a bad meal there to date.

Lovely little hotel, emphasis on little. If you're over 5ft 6, use the holiday inn express. I'm 6ft 1, the shower head was level with my chin and I kept hitting the light fitting in my room with my head.

Nice service, food presentation was ok. However food was really bland, both our starters and main courses weren't seasoned.

Setting up for a wedding in this lovely friendly venue, the staff were so helpful and welcoming Emma Jason and Lauren you are a credit to the Red Lion would definetly recommend this wedding venue.

I dint stay here over night, but had dinner at the restaurant few times, very nice food and friendly staff.

A wonderful little Inn with a delicious menu at the restaurant and a delightful staff. Free and solid breakfast to send you on your way. I recommend it highly.

The lobby and restaurant areas are very nice. However, I had the steak sandwich, and it was absolutely dreadful. I cannot believe the meat in the sandwich was "steak". Also, you had to order from the bar, so it is not a proper restaurant.

It's a nice building, situated at the end of the road by the Holiday Inn Express and the station, and it seems extremely popular with both locals and guests at the hotel. Inside it's very rustic in appearance, keeping the feel of the exterior with lots of exposed beams. The menu is small and actually not that varied. I don't eat beef or fish, so once I'd eliminated those from the menu there were maybe three dishes I liked the sound of, but even then there were things I'd not heard of (vegetable kimchi served with the chicken burger for example) and a lack of simple, staple dishes. The place clearly fancies itself as a bit of a gastropub. My meal looked and tasted fine, but was a little overpriced for what I got — £13 for a burger and maybe eight chips seemed a tad excessive. The service let the place down badly. On arrival I asked for a table for one (it was early in the evening — maybe 6PM) and I saw several tables for two were unoccupied. The waitress took me through the bar, through a large and empty room, and pointed to a tiny alcove, well away from everybody else, out of sight of everyone and everything. I felt like a bit of a pariah, banished to an isolated corner of the pub. It transpired that I was also a little "out of sight, out of mind, " as nobody came to take my order and I had to approach the bar to find someone to serve me.
