A fantastic venue with good food and extremely helpful staff. They recently went above and beyond to support a wedding reception and did wonders, especially considering all the current restrictions in place. Thanks to Matt and his team!

Went for dinner here tonight with my other half. Staff really friendly, decent menu choices and good ambience despite social distancing measures. Cosmopolitan delicious too! we will return :)

Lovely place people very friendly.

Have stayed before. Room 12 was very clean and comfortable. Only problem this time was couldn't turn heating down and was too hot.

The rooms are derelict! I couldn't believe how awful they are and our friends from Germany who stayed there were appalled, very sad, very expensive for what you get room wise but the food was ok.

We had a lovely group Christmas meal. The service was excellent, considering there were so many of us. We all had our food at roughly the same time. The food was nice, albeit the roast potatoes were a bit hard for my liking and the cheesecake was a deconstructed cheesecake which caused some confusion (you can tell we don't go out much lol). We all had a lovely meal with a great atmosphere and I would definitely recommend going there and we will be going again.

Very friendly staff, great location but can be a little noisy if you are not staying up to join in the fun. Was quiet by midnight. I think we were there on two special occasions, a wedding and a christening, probably not always so busy. Fun though!
We cycled and they let us have our road bikes in our rooms — big plus for us.

I'm only mid stay at the moment but I am so happy that I am already happy to write a review. this place is really cosy, and definitely a welcoming place to stay. I slept really well, and had no difficulties getting to sleep. It is in a very quiet area, so you will find that there is no noise at night which is a bonus. But my word, I have to make one point if anything. The food at this hotel is absolutely beautiful. The receptionist, a kind gentlemen, when I arrived made a recommendation to try the chocolate brownie. I have lost count the amount of times that I have been to hotels where the chocolate brownie has been recommended, and it has never been that impressive. However, this hotel genuinely serves the best chocolate brownie I have ever had in my life. Truthfully, I have never had anything like it and I would totally recommend it in every way. I also had a breakfast bap for the breakfast. They use a sweet brioche bun, which completely complemented the flavour of the rest of the meat. The Bacon was really thick, and well cooked. If I had to criticize, it would be that the bacon did have large amounts of fat, but this was easily rectified by removing it. In short, I totally recommend this place. The service is fantastic, and the food is incredible. You will not be disappointed.

Lovely little pub in a beautiful old village, a tad pricey on the drink but the food is well worth the price. Great for events to. Staff are very friendly and inviting and garden is excellent in the middle of summer. Especially this year with England's exceptionally warm weather.

Nice establishment, nice staff, very pleasant garden to sit in (if you can find a seat away from the smokers). However, the drinks and food prices are a bit more expensive, not the staffs fault more the Fuller's group. Still worth a visit though. Sunday roasts are really good. If you're visiting Wendover then a visit to this establishment is recommended.

Had an excellent two course meal to-day. Was served by a lovely young lady. Unfortunately I failed to get her name.

Beautiful old pub and hotel wing directly on the Ridgeway so ideal for walkers. A pleasant room of a good size, a big bathroom, and a generous, delicious breakfast in a handsome old room. Good Wi-Fi. Rooms overlook a courtyard so they can be a bit loud.

This was a nice hotel to stay in. For the price the rooms were pretty good. The staff were all very friendly. They didn't have a specific cooked vegan breakfast which was a shame but the staff were happy to change an existing to fit. So very accommodating. The only improvement I can think of is vegan sausage's on the breakfast menu.

OK'ish hotel but overpriced for what it is! Bathroom a little cramped, alarm from previous room occupier went off at 6am on a Sunday, bed end collapsed when sat upon and breakfast service was a little disorganised. I reckon we could have done better.

A period hotel, so has good and bad aspects due to this. Lots of character, period features in the bar, nice outside eating area and pretty good food. But all single glazed windows, and some rooms surround the outdoor seating area — so quite noisy until midnight or so. Not enough sockets in my room, and awkward light switch layouts. But water pressure in shower very good. Staff are welcoming and can have a laugh, everything reasonably priced. Beautiful part of the country and lots to see locally.

Good food, interesting building, excellent service and a lovely pint (or two) of Cornish pale ale What else could I want? I'd go back and I'm happy to recommend it.

Nice little hotel was cheaper than other hotels closer. The rooms are a little aged but clean. Staff where friendly enough and breakfast is freshly cooked to order.

Nice food and location with parking out back. Staff and service was excellent. Overall, had a fabulous evening here with colleagues from work.

Booked a table last minute for mothers day. They were incredibly busy but the service was brilliant, very attentive. The food was superb, there was a slight delay on our starters but they apologised and kept us informed. To top it off the mothers at the table got a little goody bag with a small bottle of Gin and a mixer. We stayed here a few weeks ago and the room was very comfortable and the breakfast great. Will definitely come back.

Thank you so much to all the wonderful staff at The Red Lion. Everyone was so cheerful & kind and really made us feel welcome. I stayed with my 2 young children & everything was impeccably clean & the staff couldn't do enough for us. Really lovely stay, food was delicious too, highly recommend.

Great pub, probably best in Wendover. Fullers own this one so great selection of beers. Handy place to stay if you need a hotel in the area.

The rooms in the old coach house are getting a bit tired but that's part of the charm of staying here. The rooms we have had have been spacious and comfortable. The staff are always helpful, too. Good value for money.

Visited for my son’s 18th on news years eve. Awful food, awful service topped off by charging me £10 for a glass of Sauvignon as waitress didn’t ask what size I’d like or type of wine. Had an awful meal week before too with friends. Won’t be coming back any time soon and as someone who used you regularly as we live in the village that is a shame. You’ve lost the plot!

Was OK. Very friendly staff. Room could do with bit of sprucing up. Fresh coat of pain would do. Could do with better soundproofing, could hear everything was going on next doors. Bathroom window roller blind was very dirty and there were few big cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Loved the fact that instead of usual bible there was a book on how to craft ales!

Staff were great considering how busy it was (New Year's Eve). Prices were good, atmosphere was great and everyone was very professional.

Excellent Christmas dinner. Food fantastic as were the staff. We were not rushed and the restaurant decor and ambience were very nice. We will return.

A good varied menu and reasonable quality food. Service was slow and my main course was cold by the time the vegetables were served.

Wednesday lunchtime at half term — one member of staff. Nearly two hours for a single course and kids pudding. Food ok and staff nice enough but just so slow. Poor show.

Great high street pub with lovely rooms and a lad called Alex who may seem a bit odd but is actually a really good lad. Nice atmosphere.

The atmosphere was warm and friendly on entering. The waitresses made us feel very welcome and were attentive throughout our evening. They were friendly, professional and efficient. Our meals were cooked beautifully and tasted delicious. It was our first evening meal there and we will Definitely be returning, and recommending it to our friends and family. Thank you!

Stayed here for a few nights with my parents and we really loved it. Very friendly welcoming staff. Nice comfy rooms that were very clean with good showers and tea/ coffee/biscuits and bottled water provided and refreshed daily. There was a nice range of breakfast foods included in the room prices — I particularly liked the eggs Royale. We ate there for lunch and dinner, both meals were delicious, especially the thrice cooked chips, they were so lovely and crispy! We all felt like we would come to the red lion again and recommend it to anyone.

Went for a quick drink after a MTB ride in the surrounding areas. The pub itself looked like a really nice place — if I'm in the area again, I'll definitely visit and try out the food. The member of staff that served our drinks seemed to want to get us out of the way fast, even though the bar wasn't busy. That being said, it wasn't bad service.

Lovely family lunch for 9 people (3 children). Excelllent, prompt attentive service. Children's menu fantastic. The waitress took our orders and asked if there were any allergy sufferers. All good top notch food and satisfied two our veggie and vegan members. Everyone enjoyed their food and all plates were empty.
I would recommend with 5 stars and will definitely visit again.

Very enjoyable overnight stay. Would highly recommend. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice and cosy bar area with open fire. Lovely double room with great shower and comfortable bed. Delicious evening meal in the restaurant with great service. Fantastic breakfast. Overall a thoroughly lovely place to stay, eat and drink.

We have stayed at several Fullers Inns and have never been disappointed until our visit to the Red Lion. We stayed one night and had a meal in the restaurant. We were looking forward to a good choice of meals. However, despite our reservation for 7.45, we were advised that one of the starters and four main courses (including all fish) were not available. Reluctantly we compromised from the much reduced choice. The shortage even extended to the desserts where the advertised "Fullers salted caramel ice cream" was not available. The restaurant was not busy. On the positive side, the staff worked hard and were friendly. Our bedroom, Room5, was spacious, well furnished, clean and with a massive bathroom. However, a major downside was that it was above the bar. It was like being in it. Serious music and hubbub until 12.30am. No lie-in unfortunately as "start up" noise began at 7am. I regret having to be so damning but the stay was not a pleasure. I sincerely hope that Fullers take note and action.

Visited for lunch. The service was really good. The food as delicious and really food value. I munched my way through Fish Finger Sandwiche and chips and it was rather fine. Definitely recommended for a face of food! Nom Nom!

I recommended this to a business colleague — who advised that bedroom was comfortable but very noisy. Was told last order for food 20.30 and after main course was told couldn't have a dessert as kitchen closed.

I’ll be back! Due to work commitments I spent two weeks here recently and I have to say its not bad; Martin and the team maintain a warm and friendly welcome. It’s an ‘olde’ world hotel with a modern twist; iron and brass bed, pine furniture and clean rooms. Superb breakfasts, the Rotary Club have monthly breakfast meetings here; a sure sign of quality and value. Some good eating houses in Wendover but if you choose to eat in the hotel I don’t think you’ll be disappointed; its good quality pub food, which can be served in the restaurant, bar or garden. A good selection of real ale and wines which are kept well; a bit pricey but not too bad for a hotel.

Good atmosphere. I've eaten there dozens of times, though, and the food consistently disappoints. I keep hoping it'll get better because the location is so nice! The two-for-£12 lunch meals are good value. It has a good selection of real ales.

I see alot of people have been slating this pub but I have eaten a number of times over the last few months and I can say that the food is very good defiantly get what you pay for. Not a bad selection of beers and wines always something that I would want to drink. Personaly I say this pub is not a bad pub at all the beer garden is very nice and we always get a warm welcome.
