We have been here for afternoon tea and bottomless lunch (The Roast) The menu advertised online lists several vegan options. This is why we returned here as my brother in law is a vegan. They claimed that the vegan menu was limited to a month yet couldn't answer why the menu was still online? Think we were fed a load of BS. There was only two it her tables eating there today and service was slow. My starter was good (pork belly and beetroot). Main was a little cold and the rib eye was served quite rare (I was never given any option). My wife's main was served 5 minutes after everyone else and despite asking for dairy and soy free they still served it with coliflour cheese. The dish then went back. The mile feuille pastry was style over substance and came with a rather unnecessary basil ice cream. Style over substance is a good description of this place. The food just needs to be better. Afternoon tea was better than the bottomless lunch.

I have photographed wedding there and this place is just perfect. My couple decided to do engagement session there as well. We walked around the lake and were amazed how beautiful and peaceful is there. My bride was getting ready there and those rooms have fantastic light which is very important to create beautiful, soft and natural photos. I love how they decorate wedding reception and was very impressed how big attention to details they have. All the staff was very polite especially huge thank you to Patrick the toastmaster who was making sure that everything went as should be, and everyone was happy.

Got married here. Back every year. Love it.

We Visited for Sunday lunch with my dear sidterinlaw and britherin law. It was so relaxing. Food was suburb, wine was fine, staff and service was excellent. Thnak you all for making this such a great experiance. Will come back again soon and will recommend to our friends.

Great Place and wonderful people. As a London Wedding Photographer I've been working at Stoke Place quite a few times and it was always a pleasure to be able to use the wonderful grounds and create some amazing memories for my wedding couples. Thank you guys and hope we'll be able to work again soon!

Food was good and staff were great but the quality of the rooms was dismal. We had two rooms one had a double bed pushed against the wall so you had to climb over each other to get in or out. The other had a broken window and a broken chair. To charge the prices they do I expect a lot lot better.

Went to a meeting in one of their meeting rooms, so didn't see much of the hotel. But what I did see of it was very nice.

Rene is brilliant at Stoke behind the bar. Excellent customer service with a smile… always makes conversation and asks how you are… he is second to none.

Lovely hotel. Great staff. Comfortable garden rooms. Only issue is pre authorisation of payments. Takes 4 days to get your money back once you have paid. Not fair and not necessary.

I stayed here for 2 nights recently for a wedding and the venue is breathtaking! The grounds are stunning and the building itself is quirky with beautiful rooms. All the staff I encountered, from front desk to back office were friendly and helpful, a special shout to Petr (spelling. ) for his support on the day amongst many others. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Stoke Place if you're looking for a venue in the area, from weddings to babyshowers, conferences to a quiet spot to work in an inspiring environment… they will take care of you. Thanks to all at Stoke Place.

The place is gorgeous is a stunning location, but a couple staff were not amazing. They seemed not caring and bored to death. The rest of the staff like the guys who were serving the food were great and very friendly.

Restaurant, food and staff were fantastic! Grounds are gorgeous too! Room is a little tired but I'm being really picky now. Definitely recommend and will definitely be returning. Would give 4.5 stars if I could.

Beautiful place for possible wedding venue. Very clean and bright. Couldn't envisage an isle though so may need to double take again when it's set up for a wedding and not a fayre. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. All wanted to talk and ask how our wedding planning was going. Waiter serving champagne very attentive. Location nice once you're in the walled gardens. Road outside a bit of a nightmare due to being very small and lots of traffic!

Unique place. Unspoilt. More like a private mansion than a hotel. Spacious.

Excellent service and food, very comfortable and their attention to detail is outstanding. Nothing was to much trouble.

The food was lovely and the venue was excellent but the bar prices are quite frankly extortionate. If it wasn't for that I would give a 5 star rating but being charged £13 for a double shot of brandy and coke is diabolical. Other than that it's a great venue.

The venue is beautiful and a great setting for a wedding. There is ample space for just about any decoration, showpiece and/or attraction you want. The service was good and the MC was fantastic. The only downside was some of the waiting staff struggled with English so had to go and find colleagues to help us from time to time. Overall the venue was in immaculate condition. I didn't stay overnight so cannot comment on that aspect.

I like Stoke Place. As many have, we found the staff and the food really made our stay. Yes, perhaps it's a bit tired in places but it is a fabulous building and setting and the Stoke Place team all really seem to care about what they're doing. Loved it. Thank you.

Enjoyed our stay. Staff are very helpful and the grounds are lovely. We stayed in the enclosed gardens block as we had our dog with us. This was ideal and the converted stable block was fantastic. Highly recommended with or with taking a pet.

Beautiful venue — Has good facilities and the grounds outside are spectacular, perfect for a walk after a nibble. Speaking of food, they serve a really nice lunch with a good selection of dishes that represent the local area.

My company had a Bake-off style team build event at this easy-to-find charming country house. The quality and quantity of the food and snacks served was amazing. The extensive grounds, with picturesque lake, are great for walking around at lunchtime. The ballroom needs its wooden floor fixed as it has buckled in a couple of places but the rest is maintained and decorated to a high standard.

Had our Honeymoon and 1st Anniversary here! Beautiful house with amazing gardens. We were treated like royalty. Love this place. Food is delicious. Bedrooms amazing. Definitely a place to revisit. Perfect for couples.

Afternoon tea, well presented, yum cakes and the scones were superb, 4 star as the sandwiches should have been made with smaller bread.

Such a beautiful place I'm thinking of even having my wedding there. Massive back field with a lake and the rooms were very clean and tidy. Couldn't of asked for more.

Some of the most genuinely lovely staff you could hope for. I was delayed in arriving by nearly 3 hours and one of the bar staff sat with my partner after his shift had ended just to keep her company! Pair that with the setting and scenery and you have an absolute winner!

The grounds were nice, as was the decor and presentation throughout. Staff were attentive and the spread that was put on for our event was "okay". The curry option however was mega tasty which is what most of our group opted for. I was there as part of a work event and our time was spent mostly in a large hall so there's little else I can comment on.

Very friendly receptionist called Camelia, lovely well kept grounds. Stayed in a cottage room which was spacious with a large bathroom and roll top bath. Fitted sheet had a few stains, as did the carpet — mainly at the entrance to the room. Otherwise, the room was well stocked with optional beverages to buy and the bed was very large and comfortable. Both myself and my partner had a great nights sleep. The car park was large with plenty of space, but the one thing that has made us consider a return stay was the exceptional customer service.

My partner and I spent one night there. The location is ideal and the place is fantastic and modern within an old setting. The food was amazing and the bedroom comfy and impeccable. The staff was friendly and helpful.

My wife and I had our wedding here at the end of August 2013. It was exactly as we hoped. The run up was very pleasant and a lot of credit must go to Michelle Mehmi (the wedding manager), she was very helpful and professional. The day itself was beautiful and Jacob who ran the day was excellent and dealt with everything I asked of him. There are a couple of things to be aware of. Firstly not all the rooms have air conditioning and if you are in the cottages by the gate then the road noise can be a bit much for sensitive people.

My wife and I married here in August 2008 and returned for the first time in December 2012. We had a quiet one night stay in an executive room which included a la carte dinner in the evening and breakfast in the morning. Upon arrival, despite a little bit of refurb here and there, the hotel was just as we remembered it. We dropped our case in the room and headed straight to the bar for a few drinks, then we had a wander around to be nosey and look at the rooms we used for our wedding ceremony and reception. The bar is on the expensive side but the bartender knocked up some of the best cocktails we'd had. After freshening up back in our room (the bathroom was quite big but the bath and shower themselves are a bit of a tight squeeze) it was back downstairs to enjoy the best a la carte meal i've ever had — the food was amazing and the service was brilliant. Then it was back to the bar for more cocktails… in total with evening drinks, table wine during dinner and post-dinner drinks in the bar, we notched up a £120 drinks bill, but throughout the night the drinks and service was great and i've not complaints about value for money. In the morning we made pigs of ourselves by ticking nearly every box on the room service breakfast, which was brought to our room within the requested time slot, in keeping with the rest of our stay the breakfast was lovely. We was a bit disappointed not to have a garden view but then we didn't specifically request that, so I can't complain.

The building is nice but the majority of staff seem to have an bad attitude to customer service, based my experience of using the hotel for a wedding event and accommodation. The 'no can do' approach to customer service seems to stem from the top. I wrote letter of complaint to the Hotel manager (C Baigent) and sent 3 reminders. Two weeks later I had received not as much as an acknowledgement.
