This is probably my most favorite place to stay! The hotel is just nostalgic and magical…no matter how many times we stay here, I am always, always pleased and never experience issues. We stayed this last time for a wedding which was perfect in this gorgeous hotel and the food was delicious!

Exceeded my expectations so much, it looks pretty online but it’s beautiful in person! The staff is so friendly and the hotel is SO clean! They are constantly cleaning with lysol and wiping things down. The rooms are so clean and spacious and the way this hotel is decorated is amazing. I highly recommend staying here! It made our trip perfect!

We were afraid it was just another convention type hotel but it is a beautiful old building nicely renovated. The dinning room was very pretty n we had a very nice dinner. Staff was engaging and knowledgeable.
We stopped in for breakfast and found same quality of food and service. It was a treat.

Was given a key to someone else's room. got into my room… no shower curtain, missing all trash cans, trash in recycling can, sink was very dirty, urin on floor around toilet, unvacuumed… horrible conditions. Will not return.

Definitely stay here! We caught a great deal on a Wednesday night and had a wonderful experience! Everything was clean, beautiful, and exactly the kind of charm you want in a historic hotel. We arrived at 9pm and still got a chance to enjoy the bustling bar (open until 12pm), shoot pool, and enjoy their late-night kitchen (until 11pm in the bar or even room service). The beds and pillows were comfy, the room was a generous size and had a nice view. All-around win! Other helpful details: Handicap ramp out front, free emission-free shuttle service (driven by the nicest guy! ), self park ($10) or valet ($16), full restaurant, and laundry service.

Nice historic place to stay while in town. Just a walk away from downtown Roanoke. Downtown had plenty of things going on while we were there. Farmers Market, wing fest, live music, great places to eat, and a couple of breweries. The hotel itself is beautiful on the inside. They have a bar inside called The Pine Room PUB which was hopping the two nights we stayed. The rooms are nice and updated, however, our room did not have a refrigerator. I was a little surprised by this. The staff is friendly and very attentive. Overall we had a great experience.

My husband and I recently married here. The entire Hotel Roanoke staff were absolutely phenomenal and accommodating. Our event planner, Linwood, was so friendly, helpful and quick to answer any questions or concerns I had as a nervous bride. The team that handled our wedding was amazing, the food was top notch and the rooms were beautiful. I had a member of their staff, Andrea, with me until the end of the night, she was amazing and patient, I am forever grateful. Thank you The Hotel Roanoke for making our night so unforgettable!

Took a weekend trip down to this hotel and the room was very hot and we were unable to get it to cool down. We called the front desk several times before were finally we able to speak with the manager. His explanation was that since it is a very old hotel, there are some downsides and our room was as cool as it was going to get. Is an OK hotel but my advice would be not to stay here during the summertime when temps are high. They probably need to replace the whole AC system but guess they don't want to spend the money. My advice is to stay somewhere else where you won't sweat while inside.

Best Hotel Ever. My husband recently visited this hotel for a work conference and on the way home (6hours away), realized he had left his costume rental. He called up there and spoke to a gentleman named Emilio, he explained that he possibly left his costume somewhere in the parking lot and Emilio went to go check. He called my husband back immediately and after checking the hotel grounds, had found his costume. He also took care of shipping it to our address. We were so very pleased and just blown away by his exceptional example of outstanding customer service. Thanks once again Emilio.

This is an amazing hotel in one of the most enjoyable cities to visit in Virginia. The entire hotel is elegant. The staff are very friendly and customer-oriented. We had to access our car at 1:30 am and the valet brought it within 10 minutes. The hotel does not have refrigerators in the rooms, charging $10 per day to rent one. We loved that because the first thing we always do is unplug the refrigerator to mitigate noise. There is free basic Wi-Fi and you can pay to upgrade to a faster connection to watch video. The basic worked well. If you have never visited Roanoke, we highly recommend spending a weekend here. Be sure to visit the pinball museum and enjoy shopping nearby.

The hotel was a wonderful place to stay in Roanoke. We didn’t have use for our cars for anything. Every nice restaurant was within walking distance. The only complaints I have for the hotel is there are not enough chairs by the pool and the pool really needs to be bigger. There is room they just need to redesign it. As well as they charge a nightly fee for a refrigerator. That was absurd. Great place to stay.

Really wanted to give a 5 star review but just couldn’t do it. We chose the Hotel Roanoke as our destination for our 1 yr wedding anniversary. We were excited to spend time together without our children, but most of all about receiving a couples massage! Upon arrival the staff was generous and upgraded our room as they knew it was our anniversary. Excellent! When we opened the door to the room, we were greeted by an overwhelming smell of smoke. Yuck! The staff was kind and …sprayed a special spray to eliminate the smell. The manager also offered to take a small amount of $ off of our stay. We were hoping things would be up hill from here. Nope. The next morning we checked in on our massage reservation and found out somehow the company that they outsource to for spa services never received our request! After speaking with the general manager, they arranged for a local spa to accommodate massages for my husband and I (this specific spa didn’t do couples massages). The hotel also provided transportation for us to and from the spa. Again, a little more $ was removed from our stay (never requested by us, but offered by management). Upon returning from our spa appointment, we found robes, slippers, water, and chocolate waiting for us in the room. This was a very nice touch to help make up for the mistake of the massage reservation. After we checked out and received our car from valet, we found one last disappointment.

Totally upscale, historical hotel, with valet service ($$) and amazing classic decor and event rooms with chandeliers. We attended a wedding there which took place outside on a very large veranda with raised stage area. Water set out during the wait up to the start of the wedding. The Crystal Ballroom was beautiful for the reception. Food-superior. Service-superior. Beautiful, expansive ballroom alit with chandeliers, sporting a central dance floor, and mirrored walls.

My stay at the hotel Roanoke was lovely. It’s always lovely. The rooms are nice. The staff is EXCELLENT! I’ve never been in a hotel with such accommodating and helpful staff. I would return for the service alone.

I went to see an exhibition on moonshine and Franklin County. Very small and poorly done. When I parked, I asked the attendant if my ticket would be validated since I was attending an event, his response was yes. Long story short, the desk clerk, when I took my ticket to her, looked at me as if I were a Martian. When I left, the parking attendant told me that I must have misunderstood him. He took the ticket before I could run it through the machine, stepped into the office with my money and today me to "run along". Not at all what I would expect from a Hilton.

We met an old friend there as a meeting point on our vacation further east. She is general counsel for the alumni fund at VTU who owns the facility now and she showed us all around and gave us the history. Great story, beautiful hotel and a super friendly and competent staff!

Historic hotel with well maintained public areas and elegant dining options. Friendly staff. Convenient covered bridge/railwalk to downtown Roanoke. Convenient to new AMTRAK station.

Customer service is awesome. In town for graduation. Would definitely love to visit again. Didn't really get a chance to explore the hotel since I was at Liberty University all day. The beds are comfortable and relaxing. The only thing is you have to pay for parking and didn't have a refrigerator in my room.

This is a fine hotel. The rooms were recently renovated and they are gorgeous! Friendly staff. Was a little disappointed in the quality of the breakfast as it seems to have changed from what I've experienced in past years.

This hotel is a must stay at least for a night! It is beautiful inside and out! You can walk to the downtown by crossing over in a covered walkway over the train down below. Very nice executive lounge. When they say "snack"at night, they mean, you can eat a whole meal! Best Hilton I've ever stayed in!

We stayed overnight at the hotel and ate at the pub on Friday night. The hotel was beautifully renovated with modern rooms, but they preserved the historical feel everywhere else. Both restaurants were great, and the service was excellent at dinner and at the breakfast buffet, and throughout the hotel too.

The room was a little small, I was not so happy with that. Also you had to pay $10 just to park yourself, also a turn off. The courtyard was relaxing, hit the bar and go sit out by the fire. The food was top notch and the staff was very friendly. I happen to come across a ulraviolet light to see how clean the room is and the room was the cleanest by far, no stains anywhere. I do think they could update a few things but the overall experience was good and was a perfect ending to our little vacation.

Historic hotel in Downtown Roanoke. Walking distance to museums, shops, locally owned restaurants and an outdoor market. The staff is friendly and go a step beyond to make your stay relaxing. We asked the front desk about hiking in the area and while we were talking they printed out an informational sheet to help us out along with maps.

I love the dining area, I love the buffet and all the food, especially I am Gluten Free diet and that was our second time on Easter Day. But I have one request, I just wish that the piano wasn’t really loud. I love piano but I hate that we couldn’t really hear our conversations each other and we have to yelled. I guess it’s ok to others or they just don’t really care but I do care.

Everything was exactly perfect. Wonderful birthday surprise for my friend. Special thanks to Drew, Melanie, all the chefs and other staff. The orchestra was fantastic. Thank you so much!

Beautiful Hilton-family hotel located within walking distance from great restaurants and shops. Elegant, yet family friendly. Pleasant, accommodating staff. Free use of EV car chargers on site, a nice perk that offset the inflated $10/$16 parking charge.

The Hotel Roanoke is as much of a jewel to the Roanoke valley as the star that sits up on the mountain. It is a wonderful place to busy for any occasion or reason. The restaurant serves fabulous meals and the bar keep mixes wonderfully delicious drinks in a cozy atmosphere. If you are visiting Roanoke or live there it is a Must visit place!

The hotel is super beautiful and their buffet breakfast is unbeatable. The hotel bar is pretty small & pricey, but luckily downtown Roanoke is about a 5-10 min walk from the hotel entrance. I'd totally stay here again, if I had the money to. I'm only rating four stars because I wish they were cheaper and offered FREE breakfast :)

What a beautiful hotel! Comfort, service, amenities, what more can I say? You have to go. There's a convenient walkway to Market Street and everything. Will definitely stay there again.

This hotel scared the sh** out of me. It is 100% haunted. Couldn’t sleep all night because our door kept opening and slamming closed. Finally fell asleep and decided to ask the maid if It was haunted. Apparently a man murdered his family in the hotel and hotel burned down too. She said not to tell anyone she told us (like the whole staff was hiding somthing). Went to ask another staff member and he claimed to know nothing about it, until I told him what the maid said he then started telling me how he always hears voices from the hall. Went to get my bags to get the hell out of there when the elevator locked me in and I was stuck for a while. Scariest experience of my life but would consider going back just for the thrills.

Both times I've visited the room is not clean. Hairs on bed and in bathroom. Last time I had to clean the toilet and around it with disinfectant to get rid of the smell. I should've asked to change rooms, I know, but sometimes that feels like more of a hassle then cleaning it myself. Rest of facility is neat, but no luck with the rooms. Disappointing.

Lovely historic hotel, great rooms. Price is a bit steep but worth it for that special occasion. Stayed to attend the New Year's Eve gala. Wish the check-in was earlier than 4pm or the check-out was later than 11am, would have liked to enjoy the room more. 4 stars instead of 5 because we arrived at 4pm and they were only able to get us a room by 5:30pm :/

Very pleased with our room, beautiful hotel. Always room for improvement though a couple of minor issues with the room that were taken care of by housekeeping promptly. Parking is on the other side of the building, but in the daytime they have a shuttle back and forth. We decided to have the breakfast buffet on our last night. Definitely worth the money. Hotel was beautifully decorated with Christmas trees all over. Will stay again if we get a decent rate like we did this time.

The people we were with were renting a sweet for their honeymoon. All of us girls were going to get ready in the suite for the wedding. But the room wasn't ready when it was supposed to be. So we were all shoved into a small conference room that was really hot and crowded for a couple of hours. Otherwise it was an amazing and beautiful hotel.

Friendly courteous people. Easy in and out of our bags and check in/ out. I loved the valet parking option. Could not have been more pleased with my visit.

Historic hotel located by downtown Roanoke. Friendly staff, elegant rooms. While the hotel does not have a full gym, it's above a standard hotel gym with new equipment. Skyway access to downtown. One item to note, on weekends if planning to eat breakfast make a reservation to prevent a potential wait. Reservations are needed even for the free Continental breakfast included with Hilton Honors.

Christmas trees are just beautiful. Breakfast buffet so delicious; omelets out of this world. Customer service left nothing to be desired, did everything to please us. Great place to go for a special time with your family during Christmas!

I was there for a conference. The hotel was beautiful. It was decorated for Christmas and I was amazed at what a nice hotel it was. The staff were all very friendly and the food and snacks we're amazing. I did not stay in a room, as it was sold out when we booked. I plan to return to stay there soon. It was a wonderful hotel.

I was there for a company holiday party. The party is held at this hotel every year and I've attended for multiple years now. Each time I've also stayed at the hotel for the night. The event is always amazing, with delicious food, an extensive alcohol selection, attentive event staff, and a DJ who knows how to get people dancing and having a good time. The room was clean and cozy, with a very comfortable bed and nice furniture, and the bathroom was very modern. The Hotel Roanoke does a good job of keeping up with the times while maintaining its rich history. The hotel employees are all extremely friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Roanoke or looking for a place to host a large event.

What a pleasure it was to stay in this beautiful hotel. Every staff person was attentive and truly kind, from housekeeping, to front desk to dining room servers. The valet team was the most outstanding of all. They were so helpful and courteous every time we dealt with them. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

I only got to experience the valet service, which was great. The staff was friendly, and knowledgeable about things in the area to do. Plus the vehicle was well taken care of.

I stayed overnight at HR and it was truly an experience. After starting my stay with a rather long walk from self-parking to the main lobby, the inconveniences stopped completely. The staff was very courteous and thorough, the amenities are make you feel catered to and the decor and structure of the hotel is breathtaking. Thank you Hotel Roanoke for helping my friend's wedding turn out perfectly and for welcoming me in so warmly during my first stay.

It looks far more upscale than it is. There was no info in the room offering info about amenities or services are available onsite. We settled in and were eager and willing to order room service but had no info whatsoever. I didn't even know where we could find snacks or anything else. I didn't know if and where the pool was either. At check in We were given the room number and sent on our way. The TV offered kids shows but all were paid and resulted in fights with my kids. I checked the website from my phone for all this info and got no info. I specifically chose this place as a more upscale version than the local chains. But it's far from that.

This is a wonderful place. I wS there for a Realtors convention and enjoyed everything about it from our room, restaurant, staff and hot tub. I highly recommend this hotel.

Conference room provided everything we needed. Food was delicious and great taste. Staff were kind and attentive. The room could have been slightly nicer.

We stayed here for a wedding on July 29th and enjoyed our stay. The only issue was the fire alarm going off at 6:30 am from the kitchen. Not a fun way to wake up but other than that I'd recommend this hotel! Also thank you for shipping back my pillow that I left in the room! I got it two days later once I got home! Thank you so much! Great customer service and I'll def stay again if I have a chance!

I went to the Hotel Roanoke for a wedding. The atmosphere was beautiful, great lighting and the perfect temperature — in fact it was a little chilly for me, but I'm always cold so that means it was the perfect temperature for a crowd. The food was AMAZING… I had cheese tortellini with fire roasted tomstoes, pine nuts, etc. It was to die for. The staff was super friendly. We had two bartenders, both were very skilled. One was a little awkward but the other was extremely kind and welcoming. Great experience!

Fantastic atmosphere and service. With that said the prices are pretty competitive. Building has a rustic design reminiscent of a Victorian mansion but does not want for comfort. Nice hot tub, pool and well-equipped gym. Rooms follow suit and are spacious and well appointed. Great venue for your holiday party and catering is delicious.

Beautiful historic hotel, excellent customer service. The room was clean and comfortable, small coffee service available. The gym and pool were great. We enjoyed a short weekend at this hotel and look forward to returning. Only a short walk from local food or you can enjoy on site service. Roanoke is a lovely little town.

The location of this hotel is great for attending events in downtown Roanoke. The staff during both of our stats over the last year have been amazingly helpful and friendly. If you are planning a visit to Roanoke, I do highly recommend this beautiful hotel. The rooms are not partial, but we found them to be perfectly sized for our needs. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows are soft. Bathrooms vary between room, some have a shower and some a tub, but they all have ample sized towels that are soft and dry you off well.

Love staying here at the crown jewel of Roanoke! Greeted with warm delicious cookies and friendly staff. They have valet service for parking and the guys are excellent! My wife and I stayed here in 2014 after our wedding. It was excellent start to finish. We had the buffet breakfast that was stellar and the staff was friendly and very helpful for all of our needs. So this year for Christmas I gave my wife the gift of recreating our night at the Hotel Roanoke! Again the staff was excellent and very helpful. So we did our night out after our wedding tour of the town and went to all the places we went that night. The staff was so helpful to me to recreate that special night. They went above and beyond for everything! We will be back for many more occasions and recreations! Thank you very much for all your extra help! I extend my highest recommendations for this establishment! A +++ experience!

It seemed like we paid more for the atmosphere than the food. The tenderloin and the desserts were very good, but the Calamari was unseasoned or close to it. I've paid far less for far better food, I doubt I'll be back. Service was very nice however.

I'm a man that makes just a little over $28, 000 a year. I had issues with the cost at first but after getting to my room I didn't care so much. If you like the finer things in life you need to stay a night or even a week.

The staff are very nice and knowledgeable. My server, Karen Powell was exceptional. The made to order eggs and omelettes, by Alfredo, to die for. I give credit where credit is due. Thank you all for a great experience.

Beautiful location for a meeting, held in the Crystal Ballroom. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks during the breaks were all delicious and the staff was attentive and fast. Ballroom was comfortable and clean, restrooms were easily accessed and also very clean. All-around wonderful.

I stayed at The Hotel Roanoke this past weekend. It was a surprise get away for my husband before he has surgery. It's a very luxurios hotel and kept very clean. Every person we came in contact with greeted us and asked about our stay. The staff was really nice from the check-in desk to the ladies in The Pine Room Pub. He only negative is the queen room is very tiny. However, being right in the heart of downtown and in walking distance to many shops and restaurants it was worth it. I can't wait to come back and and hopefully dine at the restaurant next time.

The Hotel Roanoke was beautiful and the staff was friendly and professional. The location was great and convenient to a lot of restaurants and bars in the Market Square area. The only thing that prevented me from giving a full 5 stars was that there was some renovations occurring and there was noise in the early mornings which would wake me up and keep me up.

My husband and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. We were upgraded to a beautiful suite complete with a fireplace free of charge. Staff were friendly and made us feel very welcome. Enjoyed playing pool in the hotel's pub. Excellent experience.

Old fashion charm at a Hilton Doubletree. The place people are great and the building has an old charm wonderfully updated setting it apart from other Doubletrees.

Looks beautiful but when I called to make a reservation for a business conference coming up I was greeted by a very rude employee. When I referred to attending the conference scheduled there and mentioned that I wouldn't need to come until the 3rd, she said "the 3rd of what? " with a sarcastic tone. So I asked if she knew the conference I was referring to and she cut me off with a loud sharp tone saying "I know what your talking about, MAM! We're sold out! Never been treated that way by a Hilton property and I intend to make them aware! Beware everyone.

Went there a year ago for a work conference. I loved it. I actually won a raffle for a week instead and loved that also. It's a wonderful hotel.

This is a beautiful hotel. check in was politely efficient and included a delicious cookie. our room was spotlessly clean, quite spacious and classily decorated and even had an alcohol wipe to sanitize the TV remote. I've stayed at lots of hotels and this is one of my favorites. +1000, would easily recommend.

Wow! What a beautiful hotel! That's all the positive comments I have for this hotel. While driving my wife attempted to make reservations using her iPhone. Each time she got to the point where she could select a king sized bed the app crashed, over and over again. So she called and made a reservation, which was successfully made and included the king sized bed. We checked in and went to our room only to find two double sized beds. When we called they said that the computer decides which rooms are assigned and that they were sorry we were given a room with different beds then we had made reservations for. We were sent a gift basket and a credit was applied to our bill. Sort of made up for it, but it didn't calm my wife down. The next morning we went down for the buffet breakfast, we were there toward the end of the service and had a very short wait. The breakfast was as much of a disappointment as the bed situation the night before. Horrible service! Lines for the buffet just to get cold food and other options not even available. We were told the biscuits would be out very soon, that didn't happen. Such a beautiful setting should be served better! We were excited to have a room, after staying there we knew why we got a room on a Friday night. Poor service, poor management of their reservation system made our stay the worst on our trip! Until Hilton fixes this avoid staying there.
