Great location. Close to restaurants and shopping. Rooms are big, very clean, modern. Staff are helpful and friendly.

Well when I got there I loved the staff and the room looked clean and the set up was very nice. However the next day my husband and I woke up and it was a bug on the ceiling and one in the crack of the wall so I stood up to look at the bug and it was a bed bug. So my husband looked behind the head board and saw a cluster of bed bugs. While he took pictures I called the front desk they came up right away and put one of the bugs in a cup and confirmed it was a bed bug. Thank goodness we had a suite and kept our belongings on a table in the living room area. However all they did was apologize and did not charge for that night and manager was like leave your clothes in the car that may kill any stragglers really are you serious! I was very upset but tried my best not to show it or be rude. He did tell me a exterminator would be there Monday morning to take care of it. I believe in good customer service this however was not this was the second time I was in Norfolk VA and stayed at a Holiday Inn and had a terrible experience it’s fair to say I won’t be staying at anymore Holiday Inns in VA.

We stayed at this hotel on 6/16/18. We traveled from out of town and arrived at the hotel at around 1pm. We were told that we could do an EARLY check in over the phone. When we arrived we were told that they were fully booked the night before and no rooms were ready and they would call us when the 1st room became available. We returned to the hotel after getting something to eat and doing a little shopping and was told that still NO ROOMS where available. I had to question the young men working at the front desk… How is that you have NO room cleaned from 11am to 3pm? They finally called house keeping to find out SEVERAL rooms where cleaned and available they just had not updated the system. Outside of that little mishap the hotel is really clean, rooms are nice, bathrooms are fully stocked and clean. The area is close to the airport so expect lots of traffic and there is construction going on to plan for travel!

I was surprised how much I enjoyed my stay here. The rooms are basic, but clean and spacious. The breakfast was fine and they even had turkey sausage! The location is not for tourism, but handy if you need to stay near the airport and shopping opportunities are a bonus.

Service is mediocre. So was breakfast. Beds and building as a whole is not bad though.

Room, gym, pool were all nice and clean. Great location with Wal-Mart and multiple food places in walking distance. They also have a free hourly shuttle to the airport starting at 5am. Comfortable bed, overall a good stay, only downside was the bathroom smelled like sulfur water and had an off odor.

Staff was beyond friendly and accommodating. Rooms were spacious and clean. Hotel was located in a seemingly safe area, close to shops and restaurants, many within walking distance.

Rooms are clean and crisp. Per diem rooms are amazing and include a microwave, fridge, and sink. Place was very clean and the temperature control was on point.

Very poor customer service and the hotel could use upgraded on a few things. The elevator is currently broken so if you need to go to the 3rd floor it's a problem. Stay at the Hilton or Marriott which are right next door, Both hotels have much nicer airport shuttle service than the Holiday inn.

The company with which I work every time we are assigned to one of the bases in the area, lodges us in this place. The daily service of the rooms is very good. Breakfast in the mornings 6am (American) same as other hotels in the area. Good place when one is in business plan.

Overall I had a nice stay. Unfortunately upon check-in, my first room shower wasn't properly cleaned, there were some stray hairs. I wasn't able to remedy this, but was immediately changed to a different room that was exactly the same. Unfortunately this shower too had someissues, but I was able to remedy that… I was ready for bed! The room was a spacious suite layout. Comfortable, nice Tv's. Overall clean, but there were a few areas of note that needed attention, especially the tile. When I was looking at reviews I was curious about the green cast to the pics. This is accurate, they took the mermaid theme of Norfolk and ran with it. Everything is very blue/green nautical. I rather felt like I was in the ocean or a fish tank. It's not bad, but due to the color scheme can feel dated. You'll enjoy the large rooms and friendly staff.

As far as I could see everything was clean. Staff were nice. Descent breakfast. Bed wasn't as soft as I prefer but not all people like a soft mattress. Or as soft as I do anyways. Would be a nice thing for hotels to start doing. Having it to where you could choose the comfort level. May be asking too much though. But for some of the prices other hotels charge I don't think it is.

An interior design I've not seen previously in a Holiday Inn Express, a nice change. Rooms are spacious and nicely furnished, and well maintained. Hotel has a pool, jacuzzi and ample parking.

Large clean quiet rooms. Fast and friendly staff. Morning breakfast was good.

Absolutely the best hotel to stay at in the VA Beach area. Breakfast was. Super clean. Friendly staff. All rooms are suites.

I was really disappointed upon check in at HIE Norfolk located on Military HWY, the hotel is not what I expect from HI. It smelled damp and moldy from the lobby all through the building, including the room. Only upside is the room was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. I would not recommend this location to anyone.

I cannot give a zero, unfortunately. The best part of my experience was finding out my reservation was elsewhere. I waited well over 20 minutes for someone to come to the desk. I even called the hotel. Terrible customer service. Avoid this place and go to the Holiday Inn up the street.!

Stayed here with my husband while he went to school. Hotel is amazing from the room with comfy bed to the powerful shower and 2 flat screen TV s to watch in the suite. Had one in seating area like a livingroom and one in bedroom. Free breakfast in lounge area. Eggs two kinds everyday, hot cinnamon rolls to die for, bacon, sausage, toast, bagels, muffins, and English muffins, cold and hot cereal, juices and coffee. Free usa paper to read everyday. There is a pool and hot tub and exercise room. I can not say enough good things. Everybody was so nice and they had the free shuttle to any where 3 miles from hotel taking you and picking you back up. I would definitely stay at a holiday inn express again.

Helpfull staff. I was able to charge my ev on a 120v outlet no problem. Have a great new year. Hope you invest in 240 chargers they are the best.

I had a bad experience with this hotel. I traveled from Ohio to Virginia for a funeral and decided to stay at this hotel. I booked a room for three days and I was overcharged. So I spent 20 minutes at the front desk getting that corrected. Then I went to my room and it was dirty. There were stains on the wall, a stain on the covers and the pull out sofa bed was nasty so I complained to the front desk again so they switched my room. Furniture very dated. I didn’t enjoy my stay at this hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Located near grocery store and fast food places, rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was free but the food wasn't great, but I wasn't expecting much.

Had a wonderful experience here! We were in town on business and were without a vehicle part of the time. One of the employees, William, drove us to get some dinner and picked us up when we were done! Also our shower head was having issues, William came and fixed it right away! Will definitely be staying here next time we are in the area!

Room was nice, bed was very soft, not as noisy as people say it is. Plenty of places to eat or drink at. I came and I went, didn't stay very long but it was peaceful.

Staff was really friendly and helpful, but even got me signed up for the rewards program that they have. The hotel was clean and neat. Breakfast was nice and fresh, I love the pancake machine. The rooms had a funny smell to it but it wasn't overwhelming and it didn't smell dirty. Slept like a baby.

It was quick and easy to check in. Rates were good, room was clean. I liked that you could only get inside after hours if you had a key.

This was an above average Holiday Inn Express with spacious rooms, quiet AC unit with wall mounted thermostat, excellent service, interesting mermaid decoration in the lobby, and a fairly average breakfast. There are a few restaurants, including Thai and Senegalese, less than a mile walk, with sidewalks available for the entire way.

This is a beautiful clean hotel nice new hotel with very friendly and professional staff. The location is perfect there's plenty of food places near as well as department stores and the great thing is that many are within walking distance from the hotel also there's a cvs right next door for any toiletries you may have forgotten at home.

Very annoyed that there were three things wrong with the room: (1) the dead bolt didn't fit in the door jam, rendering it useless; (2) the safe was locked; and (3) the bathroom drain could not be closed tight enough to hold water. Also, the lack of a either a TV Guide channel or listing was annoying. On the other hand, the continental breakfast was nicely done and extensive. The size of the room, including the sitting area, was a plus.

I will definitely stay here again. Everyone that worked there was very friendly and helpful. There shuttle service was great too.

Great hotel. I've stayed here on business a few times and have never been disappointed. The showers are particularly excellent.

Terrible breakfast and expensive for what you get. Front desk service is garbage and the entry smells like armpits and onions. Also sofa beds are terrible.

Stayed here while in Norfolk for the Summer Technology Conference. Room was quiet and clean, bed was comfy. Breakfast was better than most — the attendant was exceptionally good, making sure all items were well stocked and the area was clean. Loved it!

Life saver. I was quite literally lost (highly unusual for me, but true), saw the tall Holiday Inn Express and went in. Eric quickly and compassionately helped me orient to the area, then booked me into a wonderful room. My room was all and more than needed; clean and perfectly appointed. Thank you HI for your property and for hiring such an outstanding young man.

Comfortable clean rooms. About 15 minutes from downtown and 15 minutes from Virginia Beach. Older hotel that has been remodeled nicely. Was greeted as a spire member when arriving and upgraded. Surrounding area of the hotel is a little rough. But plenty of restaurants and shops. Water pressure for the showers it's not that great but ok. In door pool. Free parking. Normal Holiday Inn breakfast. Hotel is not located in a touristy area.

It was really nice, but the drain kept getting clogged in the shower, and also they should have a heater for the eggs because when I got them they were cold and have bacon please. Overall my stay was really good.

Roomy and clean suites. Friendly staff. Pool area was clean. Pool was warm. Great location ; near restaurants, stores and many fast food.

Unfortunately, I have to write my first negative review. When we landed in Norfolk, called the hotel to pick us up by hotel shuttle only to be informed by Richard that he cancelled the reservation. After providing him the reservation number Richard stated that he had cancelled the reservation, it was only 7.30 pm. Interestingly, he made a false claim that he tried to contact us… no call logs or email to support the claim. There were no other rooms available at any of the surrounding hotels. I would suggest making accommodations with other establishments that honor common reservation commitments. What a huge disappointment!

I stay here very often for work. Rooms are always clean. All rooms are built like suites. Staff is helpful and friendly.

I was really looking forward to my stay at the Holiday Inn Express, due to my past experiences with the Hotel in other cities. We were expecting a group rate discount for an event that was in town. Once we arrived, the clerk took my debit card and held my money as well as a 20.00 incidental fee before she handed me the sheet with the price, which was $30.00 more than expected. She did alot of keyboarding, which did not produce anything. After calling the manager, he was unable to do anything for us. I asked to leave and called another participating Hotel, which was happy to honor the group rate. Completely disappointed in the staff at this Holiday Inn Express.

The hotel staff was very irresponsible! This hotel doesn't cost that value! I asked them fix the house fan in the bathroom in first night, the told me fix it tomorrow. But nothing happened till check out. I spent there 4 nights. Never back to this hotel again!

Currently on military orders from out of state in preparation for a deployment overseas and was told last second no berthing was available on JEB Little Creek. So not only did we have to find our own hotel in an unfamiliar area, we had to find it at the government rate just before a busy holiday weekend (4th of July). After having to stay in a sketchy hotel my first night, Holiday Inn was able to take me in at the government rate my whole stay and the manager even put me in a king deluxe after I shared my situation with them. This is honestly the best room and hotel staff I have ever encountered. Would definitely return to Holiday Inn Express and Suites if in the area again. Plus it's a great location next to a lot of stores and restaurants that are all within walking distance.

We were stranded in Norfolk for an extra day due to weather and luckily found our way to the Holiday Inn EXPRESS. It was very confusing but we were eventually led to this location. The young man at the front desk (I'm so sorry I can't remember his name) was soooo helpful, nice, courteous and went out of his way to make sure we were happy and taken care of. I made it a point to personally thank him for all he did for us that day, I just hope that Holiday Inn can show their appreciation for having such a great employee at their front desk. Thank you!
