Friendly, accommodating staff & my dog loved it.

We were stuck in the snowstorm that hit VA and closed i95. We got here at 11PM and there were no rooms available. Luckily the lady working the front desk let us stay in the lobby. We tried to sleep but it was hard. Somehow we made it through the night. When the manager came in at 6AM he brought in cookies and offered whatever he could to make us comfortable. After the first check out he had the room cleaned ASAP and we were in a room by 8AM. They even gave us a late check out to make sure we weren’t out in the cold. Every single staff member we interacted with went above and beyond. Everyone was exactly what we needed in the moment. They restored my faith in humanity 100%.

We travel with our 3 cats, in the past 4, and they have always been very accommodating. The staff is wonderful and it's right off of I-95 next to a Taco Bell, KFC & Dunkin donuts. We always stay here on our way North.

I have tried other IHG hotels in the Richmond are for when I have to make trips to NJ. I finally found this one where they make you feel welcome even if it’s only a night. It’s so nice now I don’t have to do that long drive in one day and it’s a welcome relief.

Terrible management. I'm a Spire Elite member and was not allowed to cancel my reservation. I stay at IHG hotels 10-15 nights a month. Road sales people need to cancel unexpectedly from time to time. I will make it a mission to tell everyone I know to stay far away from this hotel.

I hate to give it such a low rating because the staff was really nice and very helpful and I absolutely love they allow animals here. BUT with allowing animals they should have a sufficient way of taking dog smell out of the rooms… the room we originally had smelled terrible (like it was a dogs bathroom for a month) changed rooms and it still smelled just less than the one before and the AC doesnt work. Then our keys didn't work even after having them taken to the counter to be activated for a second time. I would definitely try to find any other hotel before booking one here…

The staff here was awesome! So friendly and accommodating! Will definitely stay here again if we ever need to. The rooms were clean, the beds comfortable. Full kitchen was a bonus!

I hate giving this hotel so few stars because the staff is fantastic — really kind and helpful. Unfortunately the room we had smelled a bit funky both from the ac unit and what im guessing was a meal the previous guests had cooked. There was also a used soap left in the shower. It was a quick pass through trip for my family, and with a pet its hard to find hotels, so I greatly appreciate them being pet friendly. The location was safe, bright parking lot and next to a steak n shake (get the birthday cake shake).

We love candlewood suites. They are pet friendly and big rooms. However, this was our first time staying at this particular hotel in Fredericksburg. My husband, our dog and myself had a very long day on the road (we are moving) and needed a place to just rest our heads for the night. We got to the hotel checked in and started to our room. At that point the key didn't work and someone answered the door — we had been given the wrong room number (clearly written on our key card holder). Once get back down (from the 3rd floor) we are given a room that felt like it hadn't been cleaned. Hair dryer had makeup all over it, shower floor looked dirty, room smelled like Ax men's spray, and all around did not feel like the quality place we know candlewood suites to be overall. This was a little disappointing. Hope next time it will meet more than just out basic needs.

Location was ideal. Directly off the interstate. Room was clean and comfortable. Service was exceptional. Everyone greeted us with a smile and a "how are you" every time they saw us. And, I mean everyone. Housekeeping, groundskeeper, front desk staff… everyone. They made our stay very pleasant.

I enjoy staying at a Candlewood every time. This particular site rewards frequent visits by IHG clients with extra points. Very convenient to the highway and places to eat and get gas. This is clean and friendly with a nice bed. The person who stays somewhere for an extended period could save money with Candlewood by cooking in the kitchen that EVERY room has. Enjoy!

By far the worse after hotel experience I have had to date. After paying for the room the hostess proceeded to treat me as if I had never stayed there in the first place. She proceeded to rush me out of the hotel claiming that the lobby and all other areas were "off limits. " I wonder if they treat all of their guests in this manner. Its a shame that a decent hotel chain can dissuade possible customers fdom ever staying there or any of their other hotels across the U. S because of a distinct lack of customer service.

Have stayed twice. Enjoyed our stays. Nice rms. Comfortable. Good customer service.

Staff were all 100% the best. Only had one problem with a child running and jumping in room above us. Otherwise, a Great place to stay bar none!

Great service, lots of free amenities available for guest use such as movie rentals and hot drinks. Pet service fee was slightly high considering the size of our dog, but still cheaper than other hotels.

Best service I've ever seen very nice employees and staff very clean wouldn't go anywhere else.

The hotel staff are all very friendly. The hotel is extremely clean, with free laundry, 4 gas grills, a small convince like store, full kitchen in every room, & various games to check out. I have checked out many hotels in the Fredericksburg area & this Candlewood Suites is the best!

The staff is really friendly and accomodating. No frills but the place is clean and they make you feel like you are home.

Stayed one night while in town. Room was big, and the hall was quiet. Had a good workout in the gym. Gym was much better than most hotel gyms! Shower could have had better water pressure. The staff was friendly and super helpful! Overall, a very enjoyable experience! Would stay here again!

This place was amazing! The room was pretty nice. Was expecting an actual 1 bedroom suite instead of a studio, but we made due. The breakfast was decent, the chocolate milk wasn't very thick though. I've never been in a pet friendly hotel, but this one was and that was cool! The staff were all so very nice as well! We will book there again if we go through again.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Just like home only better! The staff and Management go out of there way to make you feel welcome. The rooms are clean well appointed and in excellent condition. I have stayed at many 5 star hotels that could take a lesson from this hotel.

This is not a review, but to let guest know that we here at Candlewood Suites Fredericksburg, VA… DO NOT rent to local within 50 miles of the hotel. This by no means is discriminated and we are not the only hotel in this area that does this. Sorry for any inconvenience.

This hotel was poorly maintained. But the main concern with us was the strong fragrances throughout the lobby and in the room, evidently to mask other scents is all we can think of. Although we had a three day reservation we left after the first day to go to a different hotel. Other more minor things included cupboard doors were hanging off their hinges because of a lack of maintenance, shower head leaking and not adjustable, carpet was spotted and dirty, refrigerator was not cleaned inside, and for some odd reason hallway was perhaps 40-50 degrees on an 80 degree summer day. Shows lack of management presence. But fragrence in room and from air handler was so strong we could not run it.

My wife and I just wanted to get away from our home in Fredericksburg for our birthday weekend (June 23-25). Shortly after booking the room, I received a call from the hotel management. She called to tell me that they have a policy against booking rooms for "locals" but they would honor our reservation this one time. She also said she would "go ahead and put a note on the account" implying that if I were to try and book a room there in the future my request would be denied because I'm a local. I explained to her that I appreciated her informing me but that I didn't understand the policy. She told me they have had trouble with locals in the past. All we wanted was a quiet place away from our normal life where we could relax for a couple of days. We hadn't even checked in yet and were already made to feel discriminated against. I've dealt with discrimination as a child for many reasons, less so as an adult, but have never felt discriminated against because I was a "local". That was new. Upon arriving at the hotel for check in, their non-local policy was reiterated to me and I was again informed of the note on my account adding what felt like insult to injury. The room itself was an average extended stay room. The next morning we woke early for some continental type breakfast in the snack shop area. I was told there would be muffins, doughnuts, bagels, milk and other things from 5am until like 8am or 9am.

This staff is amazing! Friendliest stay ever, rooms have kitchenette and v nice bathroom.

Donald at the front desk was amazing. We were there during a tornado. He was by himself handling everything like a pro! Not sure how he managed it…

I normally stay at Holiday Inn hotels because they are generally very clean. On this trip the Holiday Inn was fully booked and candlewood suites had excellent reviews on the company website so I booked a night there. The check-in experience was seamless and pleasant, the room was immaculately clean and all the staff we interacted with were pleasant. Room was quiet, bed and pillows were comfortable. I would definitely stay again if I return to Fredericksburg.

This may be the best Extended Stay hotel we've been too. The people who work here are extremely friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that there is no pool. If we return to Fredericksburg, we will certainly stay here again.

Great customer service. They don't have a good Wi-Fi connection cuts out every Hr. Other than that comfortable place to stay.

Arrived late 9:00 PM, room was chilly so I turned up the thermostat, no heat. Front Desk staff was kind and considerate. After 3 hours the GM shows up and gives me a dissertation on how the room heats… Duh… I would sleep in my car before returning to this hotel…

These people writing these bad reviews must of stayed at a different hotel. I stay here all the time and its one of the cleanest hotels Ive ever been to and the staff are beyond helpful. The guy complaining about the smoking room is ridiculous. Overbooking happens and if he was to ever stay again I bet his experience would be a thousand times better. Dont let a crappy employee who got fired days later ruin this hotel for you. The rooms all have fully stocked kitchens, free laundry, free Wi-Fi, pet friendly, handicap rooms available, free movies to rent, a surprisingly fully equipped gym, and 24 hour front desk services so if you ever need anything at any time there will be an employee to assist you. Candlewood Suites is the best.

I recently stayed here because I was attending a wedding. This place uses a bate and switch tactic. The website provided two options one a smoking room the other a (CSTG) or standard room. They use this to put you into a smoking room once they fill all of the non-smoking rooms. The room smelled like an ashtray. Being an asthmatic this was unacceptable. I told the staff this and they tried to send me 20 minutes away. According to their comment on my review they said it was south but in all actuality they tried to send me North East. If anyone is familiar with this area that is near DC and they have really bad traffic so 20 minutes is not 20 minutes. That and being coupled with being late at night and driving all day I opted to hope for the best and stay in the smoking room since we were traveling with other people as well. I don't typically complain about things however, this hotel has irritated me to no end. I put a comment up on their website and the staff responded to it to explain everything. However, they tried to blame their overbooking on the US Marine Corps. Having as they put it "MARATHON" all bold. I then responded back and they denied my comment. Which included that I found it incredible insulting that they would blame their incompetence on our Service men/women. My brother is a Corporal in the Marines is stationed in Okinawa. When I put this in my comment they said it was not pertaining to my stay.

The hotel had one of the better hotel gyms that I've been in, but that's about the only good thing about it. The rooms aren't sound proofed, so if someone is watching TV while you are trying to sleep, you will hear it clearly. The hotel DOES NOT serve breakfast.

I stayed in this hotel May 2013 to visit my family for my brother's graduation. I stayed there one night. The rooms were ok and clean. I had brought my IPAD mini with me and had left it in the bed not remembering or seeing it because it is white and blended in with the sheets. I called the hotel the next day to see if it was in lost and found or if the maid actually turned it in. I never got a call back from the manager until a day later saying no one found it. I even wrote a letter to headquarters and they never did anything. For spending $140 for this hotel it diffinatley was not worth all the big money for dishonest people. They obviously have dishonest maids that work at this hotel, so I recommend holding on safely to your belongs because if you lose them at this hotel you will never see them again.
