The hotel and amenities were perfect. The staff was very helpful and accommodating.

Rooms are spacious, beautiful waterfalls, calming atmosphere. The food and service is very good. The luau is a must.

Perfect setting for a romantic vacation. Beautiful sunset view, excellent food at Browns Beach. Service is excellent. Love that they have the activity pass. We were able to go kayaking everyday. Worth it if you are staying several days. A very peaceful setting. Rooms are beautiful and spacious. Love that the bathroom is big with both a shower stall and tub. This was our 3rd time staying here for our anniversary. This year was our 35th and it was even more special. We did our own private renewal at sunset. The setting was perfect.

The staff is extremely welcoming and accommodating as soon as you step on properly. It's absolutely beautiful. The beds are very comfortable and the pillows are creme puffs.

Great place to stay on the Big Island, exceptional staff.

Horrible. No one on the beach and using the chairs yet they kick you off them and once off are even ruder and move them 6 feet away. Classless place. No aloha. Rude. They swear at you. Go to Mauna Kea or hapuna prince where the classy people go.

We loved Fairmont Orchid very much! The spa in the middle of waterfalls is an absolute delight. Bedrooms were super spacious, and the bedding super comfy (loved the pillows :) ). After so many months secluded at home, this stay @Fairmont was pure magic!

Terrible Luau. Would not recommend this at all. Food, drinks and dessert were only available for around an hour. The show also ended at 7, not 8:30 as stated. Find another place to enjoy.

Last three days of our 20th anniversary vacation were spent here. Great resort for families not so much for an older couple looking for quiet beauty. Does not compare with a Mauna Kea for that. Otherwise very nice.

4 star Resort! Great service. 2 star food at 4 star prices. Breakfast was great but every other meal was disappointing. Great hotel and staff. I’ll definitely return but make other dining plans.

Fairmont Orchid is a fantastic place. Treated impeccably upon arrival. Jasmine took great care of us — incredibly friendly and helpful. Lots of Aloha spirit. Our luggage didn’t arrive on our flight but staff quickly delivered as soon as it arrived. Room service delivered our order, set up a table on the lanai with table cloth and place settings like it was a restaurant.
So far the service has been first class.

Great resort! The lagoon is really nice and there are green sea turtles on the beach nearby. They have a trio of hammocks next to the beach that are nice for relaxing after a sunset. The concierge team have lots of options for excursions, including manta rays tours during the day or at night, and snorkeling adventures. Very easy to book and it makes sense to book through the hotel. Great resort, will definitely visit again!

Paradise, even the scenery drive to the resort is beautiful. They did a great job of lining the road through lava rocks. Enjoy free 1 hour snorkeling gears and snorkel at the private beach. (Don't think they actually count the time tho) Watch sea turtle basking warm summer air at night. Breakfast buffet is $35 per person including the omelet station. Be prepared to drive 30 min either direction if you're ready to try food other than at the hotel's. Great place to stay in Big Island.

After spending five nights at this hotel, I can say it is now my family’s favorite place on earth! The staff, from valet to front desk to housekeeping were all kind, helpful and full of Aloha spirit. We found the hotel to be immaculate and decorated beautifully. Our room was well maintained by housekeeping and the beds were very comfortable. My son loved the turn down service! Our view from the sixth floor in the South tower was beautiful. Despite being a garden view room, we still had a view of the ocean as well. The pool area was relaxing and clean. Snorkeling in the lagoon and ocean was amazing. We saw many types of fish, eel, and lots of turtles! Seeing the turtles sleeping in the evening on the beach area was a nice surprise. The nightly torch lighting was fun, especially as the torch lighter allowed kids to help him. The overall atmosphere at the Fairmont Orchid is peaceful and enhanced our stay in Hawaii. We are looking forward to returning here some day!

Staying at the Fairmont Orchid has been my favorite vacation ever. Having been to Hawaii several times, we chose to spend the majority of our time here, but the few times we ventured out confirmed we had made the right choice. The bigger hotel down the road, the Hilton, was too vast and felt a bit contrived, like a theme park. At this just-right-size resort, there is unmatched grandeur, elegance, and authenticity. The service on every level has been top-notch and after a week it feels like family. We highly recommend the Fairmont Orchid and look forward to another adventure here.

Great gardens with lovely water features. Simply relax and forget about things and enjoy. Best hotel during our 3 island stay. Want to go back everytime I think about it.

Loved staying here. It’s very pricey, the spa, the classes, and the food but great quality (for the food, only one I bought). There’s a great scuba area out of the lagoon, the best I’ve been to. I recommend using the two rental snorkeling gears they give you as opposed to buying the 75$ kit (includes a lot of others, like paddle board, however you cannot go out of the lagoon with it). The people there were so friendly.

Beautiful resort! Great access to a man-made beach with the ability to rent out special cabanas. Lots of great activities including hula and a tour of the life in a tide pool. The rooms were nice, though our bed was very creaky/noisy. Staff was wonderful and accommodating. Highly recommend!

We just came home Monday night from our 8 days stay at Fairmont! This was so far the best place that we’ve stayed! Stunning place, with amazing and courteous staffs. We’ve been to many 5 star hotels and resorts even with Fairmont SF and Sg but this so far have exceeded all our finest experiences — place and service wise. This is like our Pebble Beach but maybe 10x better and more beautiful. One of the important thing I love about this place is it’s serenity, there’s such a peace that covers this place. We dined at Browns Beach House and the foods and service we’re amazing! Our stay here was just heaven and never had any issues or disappointment during our whole stay. I can honestly say that I have finally found my heaven on earth and we decided that this will be our yearly anniversary get away. I do personal travel blogs and recommendations on my page and I highly recommended you to everyone who’s planning to visit the Big Island! Of the many places we travelled, yours is the one that I felt sad when We left. I think I left half of my there Mahalo Fairmont for a beautiful experience you’ve given us.

I think this hotel and it's environs are a delight. It is a beautiful setting for the Big Island. The staff are warm and friendly. They are helpful and courteous. They want their guests to be very happy and content! Food is pretty good too! Be warned, a price comes with this lovely place!

Celebrated our wedding here on May 17th, and could not have been more pleased with the service we received! First and foremost, the grounds and hotel were stunning! Everything was so well put together and the staff throughout the hotel were so helpful and kind! As for the wedding day, the staff at the Fairmont (especially MewLan Seto) ensured that everything was seamlessly put together, and brought our dream wedding day together so perfectly! Friends at the wedding raved about the food at the reception, saying it was some of the best they had since being on the island! Can’t say enough great things about this resort, and will certainly be back one day!

Beautiful resort right on the water. Enjoyed our stay with snorkeling out a little bay/protected inlet, relaxing by pool, delicious breakfast buffet with just about anything you might want. We were there for a company rewards trip and enjoyed two catered evenings with good service and food. Would recommend staying here.

Room we had in South tower was below expected, below what we have come to expect form the Fairmont. The hotel was very clean and well managed. Romantic and relaxing place to stay with enough things at the resort to make you not want to leave necessarily. Will go there again if a deal pops up. Regular pricing is a bit steep provided condition of rooms and somewhat crowded (places to sit around pool, get a seat for breakfast, etc. ) when corporate teams show up.

A beautiful place! Pure relaxation — the Fairmont Orchid is by far my favorite hotel of all on our Hawaii trip. High quality room equipment; The beach is beautiful; Everything is very attentive and thoughtfully focused on the guests. Breakfast was the best I've ever had — diverse, delicious! Unrestricted 5 stars. Keep it up!

Beautiful resort and pool. Very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. The room and ambience are very nice. Staff was very friendly. Rooms were beautifully tidied. Downsides: -We were overlooked for service several times: at the pool and two of the restaurants, and on multiple occasions. They served people around us but we kept being overlooked, finally resorting to the bar each time to get our own food and drinks. -The hotel also charges for most things, which really gets me at a nice resort (though our parking was free). I needed to print a form and it cost me $5 at the business center. It would have cost us $50 to play tennis—when we went to the tennis courts there were at least 10 and they were all empty.

We arrived a little late and without a reservation, but they went above and beyond to help us have a great dinner on our honeymoon! They sat us with a perfect view of the ocean (lovely at night). Phenomenal food and great service!

The Fairmont Orchid was an excellent experience. This was the best of the 3 hotels I stayed at when I was in Hawaii. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were very nice, the food was good, and it was not too crowded at the pool or the beach. I stayed on the top floor which was called Fairmont gold. I would highly recommend it. Even though it is more money, you get breakfast for free in the lounge (and lunch, and a dinner like meal too, if you want that), and free non-alcoholic beverages. It was also a bigger room than the standard model. I had an all around amazing experience when I was there, and I will make sure to go back, if I go back to the big island.

This place is great! Service is top notch and onsite restaurants serve great food. The all you can eat sushi paired with all you can drink Sake is delicious and can get out of hand in the best way. It is great for couples as there is overtones of romance through the resort. This is not a beach resort so get ready for pool and hammocks both of which are great. Lastly, there is a shuttle to the shops that runs 24hrs. There is not a lot of night life but good surfing 15 min away by foot.

Hotel, room and staff just very good. Noteworthy: 18 hole golf, tennis court, large wellness area, own bee stand in the FlowHive.

Beautiful hotel and conference center on the coast (Hana, Maui is visible across the water). Removed from the "larger" communities on the big Island, but amenities are close by. There is a car rental shop located here. There are several beautiful open air courtyards within the hotel that are lovely to soak up the sun between sessions of conferences, and the hotel's refreshments and meals were varied and delicious. I hope that I am able to attend future events here and highly recommend it to those seeking a high-end venue tomhost a conference, wedding, or vacation.

Typical Fairmont experience. Great service, great food, great amenities. Beautiful grounds, well kept and clean. Easy ocean access with that built in cove. Snorkeling was fun. Sea turtles and colorful fish are easy to see. Large warm pool. Oh, and a fantastic breakfast buffet and sushi restaurant.

Beautiful grounds, friendly staff. Prices for food and drink are very inflated, even for Hawaii. Food was average. $15.00 for a small mixed drink. $22.00 Nachos. I recommend renting a car and exploring the rest of the island for your daily activities and meals.

Beautiful hotel that caters to ones every needs. Set along a large area with shopping malls close by, a beautiful beach area to learn how to paddle board, kayaking, snorkel, swim, or just lay on the beach. Very family oriented and safe. Towels are offered and a small bar for drinks and appetizers. Able to view turtles on the ocean front of the hotel, of course when they are beached. Staff is very friendly and informative. Great place to stay to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

I can't say enough about this resort! Not only was the resort and private beach breathtaking, the customer service was what really makes a difference. The staff went above and beyond to cater to our needs. We stayed 2 weeks here and by the second day, most staff knew our names. They made a point to get to know us and help us travel the island. It was the most relaxing and wonderful stay at a resort I've ever had! When I return to Hawaii, I'll be staying here.

This hotel is absolutely incredible. The gardens are beautiful and consist of many waterfalls, the hotel has a gorgeous view of the ocean and the sunset, the restaurants are spectacular and the service is amazing. I feel that this hotel goes above and beyond to make sure their guests are comfortable and well taken care of!

Really wished there was more included with the resort fee. Take advantage of the water activities since it's included. The pool was alright, but charging to use the floaties and things was lame. The room was very spacious and had both a bathtub and shower. Room safe included as well. There was a balcony, but it didn't have a good view for my room. The included toiletries were nice as well. The water pressure was great everywhere EXCEPT the toilet. The flushing in the toilet was very weak and you'd have to flush twice sometimes. Service was excellent and everyone was nice. The restaurants inside were on the pricier side.

This place is absolutely amazing! From the time we walked in the door, we we're pleasantly pleased. I love feeling that we are appreciated and catered to as patrons. Pool area is great, including the tucked away hot tub. The beach and lagoon are also a treat. Romantic and quaint dining in all the restaurants we tried. So much to do, we didn't get to it all. I highly recommend it!

Fantastic resort. Great service. Great food. Best beach location I've been to. Walk into the water and swim with sea turtles! Rooms and beds are comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the resort and ocean. The Wi-Fi was almost unusably slow and should be a lot better for such a nice resort. On site rental car was very convenient. No bugs. If you're looking for an all in one resort you don't have to leave this fits the bill very well.

They know the job! We got the best room was available and small gift for our honeymoon, service was excellent! The room was well decorated, functional and clean, so clean! you can feel the Ritz in the air when you walk in hallways. Pool and beach are awesome! One of the most beautiful beaches in Big island, we took the free snorkel and SUP, saw many turtles and fish. The only problem was lack of shade in pools and beach.

I stayed at the Fairmont Orchid for 2 days with my partner in September 2017. We had high expectations of the Fairmont since it was voted one of the best hotels in Hawaii from Travel + Leisure. The hotel's interior and room decor were dated — straight out of the 90's. The crowd was basic (like people who never travelled before) and the food was expensive and not up to par. On a positive note, the wait staff were very friendly, the grounds were well-maintained, and the sunsets at the hotel were just phenomenal. Bottom line — This hotel needs some renovations to be considered a probably 4-star hotel. We didn't get our money's worth. I wouldn't stay here again.

Loved loved this place! Can't wait to go back! It's so beautiful and has all the perks of Hawaii at your finger tips! It's pricey for sure, especially the food. But the breakfast buffet was amazing. BE AWARE: the partial ocean views are hardly ocean views if on the outside of the building due to its design. So, just don't expect the ocean view, we just would up spending all our time out of the room.

Very nice property, albeit a tad expensive. Face it, Hawaii is nothing but expensive. If you want to do all sort of activities while living it up, then this is one of the places you can just throw money at and relax and enjoy. Bonus, it has great food options that you will definitely relish. 5/5!

This is a beautiful property — — great pool, nice restaurant, pretty rooms with a nice view. I feel bad even mentioning this, but after having just stayed at the Four Seasons, the Fairmont didn't really compare. I was hoping since they're both 5-star resorts, they would be on the same level, but the Four Seasons is on a completely different level. One reason being the level of customer service. The Fairmont charged us for any use of their beach lounge area such as cabanas or pool beds (everything but the regular pool chairs) — and the little things like not bringing us towels, etc. The property is gorgeous and we still had a lovely experience, but it's hard not to notice that the service is lesser than a Four Seasons or The Ritz-Carlton. The spa offerings, however, were incredible! We were able to get a couples massage in a cabana hut on the beach — — top notch spa treatment, even better than other luxury hotel massages. Unfortunately, they did not honor the room upgrade we were supposed to have through our travel agency and actually gave us a hard time about it when we inquired. I would still recommend it based on the property itself, but not based on the service.

Very nice resort with friendly service. Only complaint is that upon arrival we were given complimentary drinks as we were on a honeymoon we never had 41 years ago. The drinks were redeemable at 2 places on the resort. One was closed the days we were there and the other was booked to capacity. When I mentioned this at the desk at checkout they said we could have used them at other places on the resort. Nice to know at the end of a stay. Not going to let not getting a few drinks spoil an otherwise good stay. I mention this as a heads up for anyone staying there and for management to make them good anywhere on the property. Fantastic, breathtaking view… In the evening you can see huge sea turtles, fish and stingrays… Snorkeling allows you to see so many fish but the water is not clear.

Service is incredible. All of the staff are extremely polite and courteous. We are here for my grandparents 50th anniversary and they upgraded them to a suite and sent them cupcakes and champagne as a surprise. Rooms are beautiful. Simple and elegant decor that is consistent around the entire property. Couldn't be happier.

This is my first visit to Hawaii. I love how the resort is secluded from the hustle and bustle of the south side of the island. You truly feel like you are at an island paradise oasis. You could easily fill your whole trip with wonderful experiences and never have to leave the resort. The staff is amazing. Friendly and always greeting you with a big welcoming smile, like you're family there for a visit. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. I would definitely recommend staying here to all of my friends and family.

It's a paradise amidst old lava fields on the western side of Big Island. It's a beautifully built resort, with a small private beach. Booking the ocean view room is not worth the price difference, though, as the garden view is plenty gorgeous.

Always delicious and the service is outstanding. There is a waitress named Janice who remembered us after our first visit. She is outstanding. It is quiet and has gorgeous views. We love it here and always come back.

Stayed here for a big wedding and it was an excellent resort and overall experience. The hotel is well designed with great and accessible beaches and pools. The staff is friendly and flexible. What you expect from a Fairmont.

We recently, (August — Sept 2013) spent 5 glorious nights at this hotel! It was a fantastic experience! If there were 10 stars I would give this hotel 10 stars! From the beautiful grounds, beach, plumeria trees, pools, courteous, helpful staff, NOTHING was a problem and they helped make the time we spent with our granddaughter and her best friend a vacation to NEVER forget! I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat.

My girlfriend and I spent a week at the Fairmont Orchid in March of 2011. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. Our room was fantastic, clean, and quiet. I never heard our neighbors through the walls. The pool and beach were great — I especially enjoyed kayaking and snorkeling in the smallish area around the resort. The resort's location is a little bit far away from most things on this side of the Big Island, but there are enough shops and little restaurants nearby to satisfy our needs. However, the best part of our stay was definitely the great service personnel working at the Fairmont. Everyone was positively delightful on every occasion, always saying "Aloha" as we walked by, and being very helpful throughout. A big shoutout goes to Paul from the valet service — give that man a raise! — who helped us with everything from our car to directions to local restaurant advice. Really, the staff was fantastic. They are the reason I might decide to return in the future. The big, major, glaring weakness of the Fairmont are the restaurants. Throughout the week, I ate at the Lounge once, Norio's (Japanese) once, the beachside bar/restaurant twice, the take out deli once, room service twice, and the breakfast buffet twice. I was disappointed each time by everything by the room service and Norio's. The only restaurant I didn't make it to was Brown's. Service was slow (particularly at the beach and the lounge), and the food wasn't particularly good.
