Were exactly one night at this property. We had the Hilo Bay Room and it was awful. It smelled very unpleasant and there was no way to stash its clothes. We wanted to be here 6 nights and we wouldn't have endured that. Not to mention the equipment.
To top it all off, we both had comical bites on our legs the next day, which probably comes from some roommates in the ancient mattress.
Not recommended or at most for one night.

Wanted to stay 1 more night could not find anyone to ask? Did not get answer on the phone? So I left.

Oh my, DIRTY. Bugs and webs, torn screen windows, mold. The towels were funky and could stand up on their own. Railing out front broken. Bed probably 50 yrs old and uncomfortable, fridge in room broken, so was the TV. Beautiful scenery. The money goes to the common area. No kitchen access. Room was terrible, especially for the price. Lots of stairs to haul luggage as well! Pulled out my shoulder. Very creepy vibe.

Quiet location, apart from the frogs at night reasonable location. Minimal parking, and terrible pillows.

Didn't see the owners on our stay but mostly hassle free. Parking can be difficult as where to not park isn't clearly laid out. Ask before you arrive. Room was clean, bathroom in volcano room was really nice.

From the last reviewer the only thing that changed is the hot water was present. The room was good enough. The sheets smelled old. And the outside chanting of 's and 's and other animals was unmanageable had zero sleep. So sound proofing is poor. Also when the rain hits the roof it amplifies the sound. But the house area was nice.

If money is really tight, then this is an okay place to sleep in safety.

Old house. The bathroom is big but the bedroom is very outdated with a smell. The shower water is not hot enough. But the price is very good. So you get what you pay for.

The parking is not very good. Hope you get back to your room early otherwise parking is down the hill and with luggage not easy to handle. Had to go steep uphill to get to the location, then 1 steep flight of stairs to house, then another flight of stairs to the rooms. The room was nice and clean, but the only fan was terrible and the room was sweltering. The bathroom is very nice but again hot, no fans. Obviously no AC at this place, which probably would have been fine if the place had decent fans and/or trade winds during our stay. Never met the owners or saw anyone for that matter. You could hear people in their rooms but only in the hallway, not from the room. Outside areas were beautiful as pictured.

Feel too bad! Room repair, facilities are old, the bathroom is rusty feel, towels, and towels, not to mention! Hard to clean a toilet, go to ross and buy a couple of a few dollars in the towel? Middle of the night by Toilet anti smell smoke awake. Don't! It is an old, small family hotel, don't know how to evaluate that high. We live in the day there was no second family, A house cut into five rooms. The landlord has been busy clanking fix the downstairs study, we catch the next morning flight, the kids need to sleep, hold it till half past nine I go to remind him to stop. Anyway, don't go! airbnb random A B-and-b-better than that.

Faded, but still gracious, family manse with the best view in Hilo. Helpful generous and cute family/innkeeper Jade. Definitely my first choice go to place when needing Hilo accommodations for my professional travels.

Sweet B&B location run by great family. Awesome hilltop location in Hilo. Authentic local experience.

This is the most peaceful and relaxing place that I have stayed at throughout my travels. The hosts really care about their guests. We enjoyed feeding and playing with the horse and walking down to the farmers market to get fresh fruits. We will definitely come back again.
