Review of Summer Hill Inn & Suites 2*

Pros: friendly and professional young man who checked us in upon arrival. Large, spacious room, thermostat worked well, plumbing worked well, elevator in good condition, plenty of parking spaces. Cons: dirty, found dead cockroach in bed linens, saw live cockroach crawling in breakfast area near the microwave, no smoke detector in room, chandelier in main foyer full of dead bugs. Also, the breakfast buffet experience was a poor experience. The milk in the big decanter was soured, the coffee in the pump pot was cold. There were two ladies sitting in the breakfast area directly in front of the T. V. And my husband kindly warned them and everyone else in the room about the bad milk. Surprisingly, one of the two ladies got up and got fresh milk from the next room and set it out! Apparently these two ladies were staff members at the hotel, even though the clothes were sloppy with baggy shirts not tucked in and there were no name tags. I later noticed that one of the ladies would get up from the table occasionally to wipe the counter, this lady had long flowing hair with no hair net. When my husband had a concern to discuss at the counter in the main foyer, the other lady who had retrieved the fresh milk for us finally got up from the table next to the T. V. And went behind the counter in the main foyer but we had to wait a few minutes. Those two ladies were not there to serve the guests. The T. V. Was too loud and my husband turned down the volume slightly, and one of the staff ladies immediately turned it up full blast again, even though she and the other staff member were sitting right next to it! I guess we were intruding on their breakfast! As we were leaving the hotel, one of the lodgers at the hotel thanked my husband for caring enough to warn people in the breakfast room about the bad milk and cold coffee.
