I was double charged! I reserved and paid for the room May 21, 2021. They charged me AGAIN even after I showed them my reservation and confirmation itineraries. Staff was rude. The room was disgustingly nasty. All 3 beds needed clean blankets. Tables were nasty, bath tubs were nasty. Photos show coffee makers and dishwasher in the condo suites, there were neither. We had a kitchen size tall trash can & given small bathroom bags. Horrible experience! I normally stay at The Pearl; however, even in May they had no reservations for Labor Day weekend. I DO NOT recommend this hotel!

No beach towels are offered, no ice machine bags of ice are sold, room wasn’t clean carpets look like that hadn’t been cleaned in a long time lights went out nothing was offered to help accommodate stay. Very disappointed.

This is a very low budget yet very economical hotel. It's very dated and needs a ton of remodeling. However, it has everything you need. The beds were surprisingly comfortable, and staff was extremely friendly. Our TV wasn't working, so I called the front desk, and they quickly sent maintenance right over. Turned out the cord wasn't all the way plugged into the back. CVS and Beach Outlet store are within walking distance. For all us people who can't afford those high end luxury hotels, this was perfect!

Late check-in, but the staff was super friendly. Yes, the hotel is old but well kept. The room was not what I expected. It had more than I thought. Nice, I will be staying here again!

Loved it here everyone is so nice. Access to the beach is great. Just wish the restaurant was open during the week. The storm was something… something. Hotel was great came and checked all the windows. I recommend this place. Will be even better when they renovate.

Terrible service. Staff was absolutely not helpful and very disrespectful. We were given our reservation and hour and a half late, initially we were told my family could leave at 1pm the next day to compensate for the time lost but it was a complete lie. We were told the next morning we had to leave by 11:30 or would be charged an extra day. Front desk receptionist Ginger was extremely rude and not helpful at all. When we asked to speak to the supervisor she told me that the manager was unavailable and couldn't assist me. Absolutely not worth the $650 we were charged to both rooms. Definitely never going back again.

The friendly staff the comfort of the room which is set up like a condo. Dishes n stuff. The shower rocks! beach right there. I will definitely be back for a longer stay.

Very friendly customer service check in was at 4pm but I got here at 12:30pm because I have 2 special needs so got there early & the lady was great understood I had them with me & gave me our room right away.

The handle of surname Leal is very Grosera has no judgment, really has no tact to treat people and less to solve poor problems by her from there out all the very friendly employees. The facilities are damaged water service was suspended for more than 5 hours. A day before we suspended service, we were flooded with the bathroom because the guests upstairs bathed and leaked all the water to our room. We don't stay at that hotel again. Especially for the bad treatment by Mrs. Leal (handle).

This place is a hole and should be burned to the ground. We checked in and there was no water then when the water did come on it was mud looking coming out. The rooms we old, smelled like dog piss, beds were discussing… no towels in the bathroom, ceiling was falling in… sure there will be bugs just waiting for them to come out. Don’t wast your money or time … this place is a dump.

I loved this hotel, spacious room, well equipped, clean, very good service from employees, with access to the beach, pool and jacuzzi and very good price. Excellent service.

Late check in for us 2am and George was so welcoming and so friendly. Beautiful view and very reasonable pricing. We loved our 8th floor view!

Awesome experience and the view was amazing. And for those who had a bad experience due to rust or bad moist smell, they are currently remodeling the place. So yeah. I would reccomend it.

There is no way these reviews are real. This hotel is so outdated and old. You can easily tell every inch of it is original to when it first opened. This place seems to never have been remodeled or updated. Don't even bother with the fold out couch bed. It was the worse "bed" I've ever had to sleep on. To say it was lumpy is an understatement and if you weren't careful, you could even fall through one of the corners. The path to the beach is exactly that, a narrow pathway with cactus on either side of it. What's the point of paying for beach access from the hotel if you still have to walk on the sand just like any other regular beach access? The night before checkout I was sitting outside watching my son in the pool when I looked up and saw a possum the size of a fully grown cat walking toward the pool. Seriously. Everyone saw it. Finally, the breakfast. Cereal, toast, and frozen waffles. Nothing else. You could literally see the disappointment in everyone's face at breakfast. I'll give it one star for the nice balcony view.

The hotel is so outdated. The don’t even have a bridge to walk to the beach on beach access. The Tv was so small appliances were old and couches were so cheap and small. Not very homey feel needs to be renovated. The continental breakfast was not good at all. Frozen waffles and toast and cereal are the only thing that are offered. Was not worth your buck.

We've been coming to this place for the past 34 years. Not a lot has changed except for the key card style door locks and the availability of Wi-Fi. Another change has been the late check in and early check out that has gotten worse and worse over the years. So if you're going to stay for 7 days you're actually staying for 6. The place looks old. The owners don't spend money on modernizing or updating furniture and ceiling tiles. Also they will not spend money on having a walking mat installed over the sand trail that leads to the beach. After 11 AM it's like walking on hot coals. But if you can get one of the corner suites facing the beach you can learn to ignore the issues with this place. The view is spectacular.

Great room with a balcony and a spectacular view. Small kitchenette was a nice addition. Front desk was very courteous and helpful. Short walk to the beach close to everything. I even left something behind in the room and the staff was very helpful in promptly getting it back to me. Would definitely recommend staying here. Looking forward to staying again.

We were greeted very nicely and promptly. When we got to our room, a while later noticed our refrigerator was not working properly, so we told the front office and someone came right away and changed it immediately. The pool was nice as well as the Jacuzzi. Breakfast was not really all that great but since you have a kitchen in your room why would you want to eat downstairs? One thing I do recommend is that the hotel needs an update! New carpets, ceilings, mattresses, and some parts in the bathroom walls are rotted. I think by just adding a more tropical color paint will definitely spruce up the place. It's an older hotel but older hotels need to be kept up with. I know that sounds like a complaint but it really isn't, it's more like a fact. :-) I would love to see it fixed up next time. Also the walkway to the beach should at least have the mesh on the sand so it is easier to walk from the hotel. We had to use the walkways on each side, it just made it easier. It's hard when people have knee issues. Besides that, I know it sounds bad, but not really, it was very family oriented and I LOVED THAT!

If you just want a room on the beach with a pool and breakfast, this will do. Bring your own shampoo and conditioner. The hotel provides 1 sample packet of shampoo. Packet. Like you get in the mail. No conditioner. No coffeemaker. No ice bucket and no ice machine. Barely any electrical outlets. Breakfast is all carbs. No hot tea. What I did like was the beach view and oceanfront access and the pool. Next time I will go during a non peak time and find a good rate on a more upscale hotel.

Not bad for an old hotel. They do need better beach access and better breakfast. Bread and coffee just don't cut it. I would give it a 3 1/2. IF your down there need to try Manuals mexican restaurant in Port Isabel Best breakfast you can find down there if you like Tex mex. Them tacos are huge. And delicious.

This hotel is located within a walking distance. I was there on 4 of July vacation. When I reached over there around 4 p. M. Our hotel room wasn't ready. After 40 min of waiting I was able to entered my wet sticky room. We were unable to walk on the carpet. Most their kitchen appliance were broken. They also served very low quality break fast. I will not go back again in that place.

The room was great. Super perfect for a family of 5 … the 2 room suite. The ONLY downfall was the path to the beach. It's a super awesome location for a great price but the walkway to the beach is just a sand pathway where as everybody else has a boarded or covered walkway. Mosquitos attack because of the tall weeds. To haul a baby and a cooler down was a HUGE problem and very inconvenient. The continental breakfast was very scarce. No eggs or meats salt or pepper. We loved it but will stay somewhere else because of the inconvenience of the beach walkway. Other than that it was good.

Making a reservation over the phone was easy. Private beach access directly from the hotel. Decent hotel for a decent price. Private parking with parking tags. Breakfast was good (cereal, bagels, toast, and Eggo waffles). Bed was very firm. Needs fitted sheets on beds. They sell bags of ice for guest's ice chests. Elevators were messing up and making stops on each floor, but that's better than them just not working or stopping between floors.

My family had a great time the pool was amazing. The rooms were clean the staff was very accommodating. I will be staying there from now on.

It was awful! Believe me, I don't ever give a re view but this time I had to! Everything about it was dirty, including the pool and hot tub. We regretted staying 2 nights! There was no way we were going in the pool or hot tub! There's no good restaurants nearby at all. We had to take a cab which was a fortune! The whole visit to South Padre Island was disgusting! I I would never recommend the South Padre hotel nor the Island itself!

The hotel rooms need a major update. Alot of rust in the room, the bed was sunken in at the middle and the carpet and couch just felt dirty. Carpet in a room by the beach ia just a bad idea but you can tell the room has not been update since probably the 80s, who knows.
Pros: the room had a great view of the ocean, close by too! The walk was super short to the beach and it was nice to have a private balcony. We also made use of the little kitchenette.

Older but comfortable. HVAC unit wouldn't heat so they brought up a space heater. Not needed except early morning. The breakfast is disappointing. Too many bread items. I am gluten intolerant so pretty limited. There is a Dennys and McDonald's in walking distance. Some receptacles are switched so look for the switch. Over a good stay.

Great view. Great people. Cleaning ladies very good and also friendly. Breakfast, little dinners with live music, get together at least once a week. Very reasonable prices. Great location. Older but very well kept and clean. Reservations for next year already!

The people were nice, rooms were really clean. Desk help is there 24hrs, it was nice that they had some pots and pans along with some utensils. Really loved using the jacuzzi when the weather was cold. Provided breakfast as well so overall, I enjoyed my stay, the only issue I had was hitting myself against the futon a lot because of how close it was to the bed.

Old Hotel in good condition, they don't offer breakfast but if you offer free coffee in the morning. The rooms have old furniture but the beds are comfortable. Some rooms have kitchenette and refrigerator so you can bring your food. It has a swimming pool and palapas. He has access to the beach. The quality of the service is regular to bad. On one occasion we were in La Palapa celebrating on September 16th and the clerk at the night shift reception turned off the music very rudely with curses and cries (instead of asking kindly) we had a strong discussion with him. The next day he apologized to us.

My family and I stayed here a night for a quick visit. The hotel staff was very friendly. The beds were comfortable, the kitchenette was a plus (and everything worked). I only had one small concern and maintenance was at the door within minutes. For the price, I didn't expect a 5 star hotel, but I was treated like I was at one. Thanks will visit again.

We are "Winter Texan's " and have stayed here during January, February and first week of March for five years. It is right on the beach with beautiful golf view. Staff is very friendly and welcoming. Housekeeping does a fabulous job cleaning. It is in walking distance of many restaurants and stores. The only draw back is it needs remodeled and updated. Furniture, kitchen appliances and ect. Very outdated and worn out. If that was all redone this place would be perfect! But, I guess we look past the worn out stuff and keep coming back. Price of stay is very reasonable for being right on the beach. You will want to be at least on the 3rd floor and higher for the best views.

I had a fabulous experience at the Padre South Hotel! The personnel at the front desk made me feel welcome right from the start and when I departed. George is the absolute best!

Horrible place to stay. Filthy outdated rooms. Stove fridge and microwave didn't work. Carpets were so gross I had to keep my shoes on. No breakfast. Have to pay for ice. The 'view' lacked an ocean view which isn't what I paid for. At $643 per day, the room should be exquisite and them some. Not impressed! Had to transfer hotels just to feel comfortable. Then had to wait 5 days for a refund which cut into my other vacation money. Do yourself a favor and skip this hotel. You'll regret staying here!

The hotel suites were very large and roomy. They were kind of outdated with Furnishing and Decor however they were well-kept. The rooms had their own kitchen with pots and pans and cups and dishes which made an overnight stay with family very accommodating. The hotel staff is very quick to respond to a need that we had and very friendly. The View was amazing and the beds were comfortable.

Padre South was good. A great price for on the beach. Very old therefore the rooms are very humid/wet feeling. The bed was ok the first night but got worse the next 2 nights. I know if we had brought a mattress topper for the bed it would have been a very enjoyable stay. We left a day early because I knew we wouldn't be able to sleep the last night. The custodial staff is awesome — the hotel is old but one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed. I would recommend this hotel.

This hotel was mediocre at best. It is way beyond dated and had many needed updates in order to be considered nice. The staff was friendly and very inviting. There is no restaurant or bar on site so that kind of stunk. The towels are paper thin and the bedding was scratchy and old. The soap and shampoo they provided was gross and made me feel as if I was in jail. Having the 2 room condo was very nice. The setup was awkward, but the rooms were there and the kitchen was an added bonus. I could not find an ice machine though and had to buy ice from the desk each time which is another downfall. They had us checking out 2 days early by mistake. They did a good job cleaning each day and it smelled nice once they were done. We did have a giant cockroach crawl across my husbands foot while sitting on the couch one night and that basically sealed the deal for us, we won't be back.

You can find nicer hotels on South Padre, but the Padre South has everything you really need. All rooms have an ocean view. There's a pool and hot tub. You're minutes away from all the excitement of Padre. If you "need" a five star hotel them this is not it. If you are a value traveler looking for good accommodations, you'll enjoy it.

The stay at Padre South Island was good. Upon arrival the front desk assistant (Stephanie) was extremely nice and professional. She took out the time to welcome us and find a room with a great ocean view. The room was of decent standard and house keeping was proactive. We left our room at 8am and return at 10am and the room was already cleaned. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family members.

The personnel were nice and accommodating. The hotel was a little aged but clean. The view was great. The dishwasher was broken and the microwave burned the food. The sand on the walk to the beach was hot and hard to walk in which could be alleviated, in part, by having a boardwalk from the hotel to the beach. We enjoyed our visit with you.

I just wanted to start off by saying this is my hotel of choice when my family comes to the island. Ive stayed at the pricier hotels also. Its quiet and friendly and steps away from the beach. This hotel is always clean and well maintained for its age. I love the private balconies, the view, service and amenities of the room. My only complaint is… at times its a hit or miss with the comfort of the bed; that's the only thing keeping me from booking a little longer. Great job to the owner and all staff helping to make this a great hotel!

Location… location. I loved this hotel. Is it outdated with it's decor? Yes. It is not modernized however it is reasonable. Want lavish pay the lavish price. I paid for the view and the great staff and that is what mattered most to us. We were well taken care of. Best service and location.

The rooms looked outdated with old wooden furniture and comforters. The bed and pillows were comfortable though. The staff made the stay amazing. Very polite and always willing to help. Would definitely suggest this place to stay.

Quiet, the Sonidondel Mar Bello.

It was a decent stay for the price. The hotel is right by the​ beach, which was nice, but finding parking in the​ hotel parking lot was difficult because the parking lot is very small. The hotel looks a bit dingy, but we had a partial view of the beach front our balcony. Also, we thoroughly enjoyed having a balcony.

First when you get there you do not pay the same as tells you on the page, that is not the worst attitude of the staff bad, I had never stayed in that hotel apart from this super old and sloppy, the pool can not be so chlorine that has, do not give you breakfast as advertised either, plus that the receptionist very rude and arrogant, I do not recommend for any reason that they stay there!

We loved this hotel. Great room size, full kitchenette, and the balcony with wonderful beach views. Lisa and Stephanie at the front desk were helpful and made us feel welcome. This is the only way to go for an affordable beach vacation.

I to this hotel the truth would give you 10 stars, this super centric, has access to the beach, the staff whenever I go is super friendly, everything is very comfortable.

The staff was awesome! My only complaints are we asked for 4 extra pillows, one for each person in the room, and only got 2. The gate locks don't let you back in after 10 but it's not posted anywhere and getting more towels took an act of Congress. We asked 4 times, 2 times we called 2 times we went to the front desk. We only got some when we ran into housekeeping and only because we could speak Spanish did we finally got some. Everything else was great! Clean rooms, good prices, awesome location!

The front staff was kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. The location was good, with a beach view. As for the room, it was in clean condition. The only complaint I have, is that the walls are paper thin, you can hear almost anything going on in the other rooms. Other than that, the great place to stay.

Excellent service, excellent rooms, excellent views. I go to this hotel all the time and always enjoy the same experience. It is worth the time and money. I have not experienced the courtesy and personal care in other similar sized hotels. It is an amazing place that joins the professional with the personal touch. Spent my Honeymoon there. I had a great time! The staff was really really nice and the place was clean and not trashed. We forgot things like dish soap, zip lock bags and trash bags and they were able to provide all that for us. I really have no complaints at all. I would definitely recommend staying there and plan to stay there again if I go back to South Padre.

Very happy with this hotel! The good? Beautiful view and a very comfy bed (was in room 510). The sheets and ample amount of towels were clean and changed daily. Kitchen is fully stocked with a pot, pan, dishes, glasses, silverware and a nice spatula. It also has a dishwasher (with soap provided), a toaster, a coffee maker (filters provided but not coffee) and ice trays. Freezer freezes so fast! Room was spacious and clean. Flat screen TV got more channels than we needed and the remote wasn't on a chain (lol). Balcony had plenty of room for chairs and was shaded. Check-in was effortless quick. The pool is partially shaded and the hot tub is in the shade, and there are bathrooms outside by the pool. Hotel is right on the beach-amazing location. And, it has a pool table! The bad? Not much actually. It's an older hotel, but well maintained. It did have a musty smell in the lobby and room, but we sprayed some air freshener on the a/c filter and it stayed fresh smelling all weekend. The hotel provides free Wi-Fi, but the service was not great-we averaged 2-3 bars at best and kept getting a message to reset the router settings. Biggest issue was the shower. The seal wasn't a good seal so there was no water pressure-the water ran down into the tub instead of diverting into the shower head. But the water heater worked great, providing all the hot water you could need!
