We love it here. The staff and housekeeping are always nice and friendly. We always come here every year and I recommend the Holiday Inn in McAllen Texas also. I work for an FBO in McAllen. “We gonna party at the Holiday Inn”. Lol. Love this HOTEL!

Hotel is under construction. This was not mentioned when we booked. They seem to think that telling me it only started yesterday somehow makes the situation better. We woke up this morning to the sound of construction equipment beeping and it lasted 3 hours. When I book a room I intend on being able to sleep. I should be able to sleep at any hour I decide that I have paid for. I was told about the construction as I was handed my keys at check in. Perhaps that would have been good info at the time of reservation a day earlier. The keys I got at check in didn't unlock our door. Had to go back to the desk and leave my wife standing in the hall with all of our bags. 1 of 2 elevators is out of service. Just came in the lobby a few minutes ago and it is now a disaster area with construction. I understand that hotels need maintenance like everything else but to keep that info a surprise until you are stuck with it is not a proper way of dealing with your guests. Attitude from the front desk and a manager that couldn't be bothered to come and speak with me as I saw him sitting at his desk from the counter. I booked the room for 2 days and intended to probably extend our stay as it was a surprise get away for my wife's 50th birthday. We are now leaving the Island headed back home as the joy of the get away has been tainted by the hassle of this hotel. I will absolutely be contacting some people on up the corporate chain about this fiasco of a trip.

When we checked in none of my credit cards irked at the counter but all worked in the ATM machine. They gave us a key to a room and it did not work so I went and got another set of keys. These did not work either. On my third trip to the ckerk, he told me that there was a person in the room he gave me 2 sets of keys to. A/C was not on in the second room we were assigned. There were several long black hairs in the bath tub upon review. When I reported rhis, all they said was Sorry. Room has a very bad musty smell to it. While I will give Holiday Inn another chance, I will, never stay at this one again.

Absolutely loved our trip to South Padre Island! Staying at the Holiday Inn was very nice. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. It is a small walk to the beach but definitely not bad by any means.

I really love the location because it's not surrounded by all these gaudy buildings, like you can enjoy the beach and everything. The room we got was pretty good too, there was enough space for 4 people and the TV had a good selection too. We didn't ask for much form the staff but the overnight guy had a really good positive energy.

Breakfast provided and lots of great options. Walk to the beach! The room was clean, and staff friendly. There were two elevators and it appeared only one was working… But working poorly. You may want to take the stairs.

Overall, our brief stay at Holiday Inn was enjoyable and the complimentary breakfast was nice. The location is a tad far from the beach but still within walking distance.

This is the perfect hotel if you're looking for a budget friendly location close to the beach. Breakfast and parking are included in the room fee. It's relatively modern, and the location is perfect. Literally minutes to walk to the beach, and since you're near the north end of the beach, it's nice and quiet and relaxing.

Great location within walking distance of a beach and turtle exhibit. Breakfast was a hot with the family and their pool was nice. Will stay again.

Every moment we can we come stay at Holiday inn Express in south padre island. The people r awesome the guest r so respectful and the staff is on point. Breakfast where to begin all I have to say it's worth every trip we take here. Two thumbs up.

Let's see, where shall I begin? When I booked this room I didn't bother reading the reviews cuz I mean, it's Holiday Inn, right? Wrong. I never ask for the top floor cuz I'm not as young as I use to be, and in case the elevators go out. Well… smh… the one time of course the elevators BOTH went out. Here I am 4 days later and I'm still paying for it with my knees. It would take me about 10 minutes or more to walk up those 4 floors. Cuz of my bad knees and asthma. Now that I've read the reviews, I see it isn't the 1st time this location has had a problem with the elevators. There have been 5 other occasions within the past 6 months… so far. So, maybe they should stop cutting corners and get this fixed right the first time so we don't have these issues anymore. The toilet seat in our room definitely needs to be changed out, it's beyond dead. The hot water in the shower wouldn't last but about 6 to 7 minutes. Definitely not enough time for anyone to enjoy a nice shower. Breakfast… omg… I've seen the commercials on tv, lmao… they seriously over exaggerated on these commercials! The biscuits were frozen hard, granted there was a toaster with a conveyer on it, but who puts out frozen hard biscuits? The eggs were bland with no flavor.

My room was way overpriced. I only gave two stars because after several complaints the manager didn’t charge us for the second night. I know it was not under his control but the elevator went out and with my husbands bad knees and my asthma this stay took a toll on us physically. After several times of asking when the elevator would be fixed we were finally told it would be an hour and a half. Well 24 hours later the elevator was still broken. We ran into an elderly lady on the beach and she said she could not walk up the stairs to her 4th room floor so she was walking around hoping she would run into someone she knew to borrow money as she left her purse in her room when she went down for breakfast. Several elderly people staying there were telling us they just couldn’t handle the stairs. This was a big issue that should’ve been handled immediately. The toilet seat in our room looked awful, definitely Should be replaced soon. The breakfast was plain. The eggs had no flavor and staff kept taking the trays to refill them even though there was food still on them and even though people were standing there trying to get food. Maybe they should bring out a tray of food out to replace what’s there instead of leaving it empty while every one stands around waiting. This weekend was supposed to be my weekend of relaxation for my birthday but instead my legs are killing me and my asthma is so bad I’m probably going to have to see my doctor tomorrow.

Staff was lazy, found very large dying cockroach in room. Waaay to pricey for room.

We had to be moved twice because your staff was unable or unwilling to quiet the people above us with unruly children or the people next us blasting their boom box. Also the shower in room 430 was disgustingly filthy.

The hotel is very close to the beach and was there to see the sand castles at Clayton's. The room was clean and just what we were looking for! The pool and hot tub were really fun too. Breakfast was really good and they had a lot of variety. Staff was very friendly and would definitely go back with the family.

So the location is great. Service was acceptable. Great breakfast. Pool was sandy, but what do you want… it's next to a beach. The TV was tiny by today's standards. Beds were passable. Pillows great. Aquarium was a nice touch. Would stay again but wish the beds were as nice as other holiday inns.

This is a pretty standard Holiday Inn. I really like the jacuzzi rooms and my daughter loves the fishes every time we come in the lobby. The pool is A+ very family friendly. The staff is great you couldn't ask for friendlier people they are outstanding! The one thing I would like to see changed and move my rating to 5 stars is seeing fresh cookies in the lobby! I came here when I was 10 with my family and I remember having fresh baked cookies every day in the lobby. I know a lot of hotels don't do this anymore but I think that little detail is what sets them aside and above the rest. Everybody loves a good fresh cookie.

Nice motel, horrible customer service and broke down elevators with no assistance to help disabled down the stairs. In a fire, the disabled would suffer the consequence.

Over all it was a decent stay over all. Rooms are clean, employees are friendly, and comfortable beds. But, only one elevator was working our whole stay. There is a lack of security. There were people using the pool that were not tenants of the Hotel every night we were there. I strongly suggest wrist bands for occupants and keypad locks for pool area.

Hotel was clean and staff was helpful and friendly. Complimentary breakfast was delicious and pool was nice. Short walk to the beach was convenient. Would give it 5 stars but only one elevator was working on a very busy weekend. Either you waited about 5-10 minutes or used the stairs. We'll be back.

Very clean room and friendly staff. The bed was incredibly comfortable! It is located further in than other hotels, many bars, stores etc are not a walk away, that was no problem to us. The room we got had a jetted tub and it was amazing!

Short walk to the beach. Good breakfast options. Beds are comfy. Convenient coin-up laundry. Pool shower is good for rinsing sand. Staff is friendly. Elevator is a little rickety and I would like to have music and more kid channels on the TV, but I would not hesitate to stay here again.

The room was clean and nice. Its in a great location with access to the beach and close to the largest beach bar in south texas. The service was great! Didn't try there breakfast.

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel. It's a little further north on the island than most of the other hotels, but it's not like SPI is huge. The hotel is very clean, and the staff is very courteous. The breakfast is pretty good. I'd recommend this hotel for your stay in South Padre.

I just want to say that out of all the places I've stayed at, this hotel made a huge impression on me. The staff was very helpful, and super friendly. We never had a problem the entire time there. They have a complimentary breakfast that is absolutely delicious, a workout room, pool, study hall, and even a little place to buy snacks. The rooms are super clean with plenty of towels. This place has brought up my expectations. I loved my stay here. 5 stars mang!

Everything was good almost perfect except for the bed they were really hard and hard to sleep in but I wanted to say thank for the awesome breakfast especially to the older lady that was in the kitchen she head everything under control thank you.

My husband and our 2 young boys are heading home from our 3 night stay here. I really wanted to review this place. They provided a crib for our youngest and tons of clean towels. The staff were all very pleasant. It is exceptionally well maintained, especially the pool area. Our room was spacious and very clean, one of the best hotel rooms I've stayed in within this price range, and the breakfast was descent every morning (my toddler got a kick out of the pancake machine). We could see the ocean from our room; it was about a 4 minute walk to a clean, uncrowned beach. I absolutely enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it to anyone.

Its been the second time I use this holiday inn in particular. Its been amazing both times. I love that the receptionist are really helpful and polite. Breakfast is great. Pool is clean. Rooms are great. I hot a baby crip on my visit. I changed my room to a better room on that day with no problem. Just a great experience. Totally recommend it.

Stayed at the Holiday Inn for Valentines Day and it was 10. Rooms were very clean and modern looking. Front desk staff was very friendly and courteous. They even were nice enough to hide the flowers I got for my fiancé and deliver them to the room when we stepped out of the hotel for dinner. Location of the hotel was a little further down the strip of padre blvd but no big deal. Still close by to the beach access points but unfortunately the hotel isn't right on the beach. Their room service is awesome they gave is complimentary toiletries (toothbrush and toothpaste) since we forgot ours back home. The morning breakfast was delicious as well. They have a vast variety of breakfast items like scrambled eggs, pancakes, bagels, toast, oatmeal, and their coffee was great as well. Overall our stay was great and my fiancé was happy staying here. I'm happy if she is happy.

Good location, friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms. Wireless internet was spotty at times and our wired Ethernet jack didn't work either, but other than that we had no complaints.

I think we were given a room that was off line no liners in the trash cans, broken toilet tank lid, toilet seat up as if an inconsiderate man had used it. The freezer compartment of the mini frig so iced up the door was hard to open. Hardly Holiday Inn standards. Staff was courteous. Pool closed for repairs.

Stayed here for a week one summer and really enjoyed it. Our girls 6 and 8 year old loved the pool and their breakfast. We would highly recommend this place. Plus its a short walk to Clayton's.

I am beyond dissatisfied with the service quality of this hotel. I'm a corporate sponsor for a festival in April (beach and biker fest) and have stayed the last two years. Their customer service is sub par with workers that don't have a clue other than being capable to check in guests and have a body at the front. Today, I was called to book another stay but they denied my request to honor their special pricing for guests/ sponsors coming to this fest. The fest website clearly shows their discounted rate. I'm a platinum member, but to those who are also rewards members, don't expect them to be knowledgeable about your benefits, appreciate your loyalty or attempt to accommodate your stay with them. Last year, they allowed a large group to stay, and allowing them to exceed noise level louder than a concert in their meeting rooms which shouldnt have happened. Myself and a few other guests were the chosen ones to stay directly above those rooms while also being surrounded by kids and adults of this group. I wish a Marriott property was on the island as they treat their platinum elite members much better. This property seem to cater to the Joe Blow's as they care about booking up their rooms than making sure their rewards members have a place to stay when visiting this area. I wouldn't choose this hotel if you have expectations as a rewards member.

Does not have direct access to the beach but the service and the friendliness of the staff is excellent. The place is very clean and the breakfast is of high quality.
