Please don't waste your time on this place. We went to watch our Airman graduate and selected this place because it was close to the base and relatively affordable. Booking a room sight unseen is risky and I wish we had read the reviews first. The staff was friendly and yes it was close to the base, but that is all I have to say that is good. Ok… Here we go. We arrived around 5 PM and we were told they did not have any ground floor rooms clean yet. That's right, 5 PM. We agreed to take a second floor room, paid for five nights without even looking at the room, and then headed off to the base to get base passes. Then off to dinner. So it was late and we were tired when we finally entered the room for the first time and just wanted showers and sleep. But there were no towels in the room. We had to call the desk and ask for towels. The phone looked like it had not been wiped down in years and was filthy. The room smelled horrible and the window only goes up a few inches. Off to the shower. There was mold in the tub and on the bathroom walls. The shower curtain bar was barely hanging on to the wall and as a result the curtain would not stay closed so the shower soaked the whole bathroom. The drain was very slow so by the time the shower was over the tub had several inches of standing water in it. We were already not liking this place and then when my wife went to dry her hair the hair drier wouldn't work. That is when my wife went down to complain. I sat on the bed to wait and as I was looking around I saw what I can only describe as a booger on the wall between the beds. I grabbed a rag to wipe it off and it was still soft. That caused us to look around a little more and we found hair in the bed and on the box spring cover we saw a milky white stain. I don't want to know what that was. Also, There are not nearly enough outlets in the room and the ones that are there are so worn out the phone chargers just fall out of them. The desk agent gave my wife a room key to the adjacent room and let her check it out. We were so tired we stayed the first night in room 220 but my wife used the hair drier in room 222 to dry her hair. The next day we decided to move to room 222 because it smelled a little better and the hair drier worked. However there were no towels in that room either. We turned on the wall mounted air conditioner and it promptly spit chunks of dirt all over the bed next to it. We ran it with a towel over it as a filter. Then come to find out the bathroom exhaust fan didn't work in that room and we could not vent out shower steam or bad toilet odors. I decided not to even bother complaining by this time because I figured all the rooms would be in similar condition and we were never coming back here anyway. We stayed there five nights and the room never got vacuumed. Also the wall mounted lamp between the beds was barely attached to the wall and looked like it would fall off at any time. Oh, and the concrete steps going to the second floor were loose and wobbly. If that was my motel I would tear it down and start over. It is too far gone from years of lack of upkeep. No matter what the general manager says there is no way they will spend the money on that dive to ever bring it up to a respectable motel. This is the first review I have ever written and I wrote it because it needed to be said. If you are a proud parent going to Lackland to see your son or daughter graduate, stay somewhere else. And please do yourself a favor and read the reviews!
