Reviews of Baymont 2*
Do not stop here. All security devices were disabled! The entire place feels like a trap. Once we saw the interior we bolted as fast as we could. Absolute nightmare fuel. I’m seriously considering contacting local PD to alert them to whatever is going on here. We really dodged a bullet by running away. Do not stop here!
Roaches, unsanitary and unsafe area! Didn’t even stay there, actually was only in the room for 5 minutes and didn’t even put my belongings down. And the hotel wouldn’t refund my money when a third party booking site contacted them for it. Absolutely unacceptable! Beware!
We couldn't stay in the room and still haven't received a refund. There was black mold all over the walls and ceilings, dirty linens, and drug residue and condom wrappers in the drawers. We ended up sick within the short time we were in the room. Upon check out after arrival, we were told that we would get a full refund after we called our booking agent. When our booking agent called, they declined the refund and the hotel will not answer our calls. Do NOT stay here. It is not safe.
We read horrible reviews in the car on our way from Florida so walked in expecting to cancel our non refundable 3 day stay and have to fight for a refund. The desk clerk was amazing and we were surprised at how nice the lobby is. We also gave the refundable $100 security deposit and signed on the dotted line all the while worried about roaches and BEDBUGS! We pulled the beds apart checked everywhere. NO 🐜 bugs! Ok so there is a smell like most carpeted hotels down south and there are improvements that could be made but the room was nice, beds comfortable, shower hot with fantastic water pressure (even if the tub drained slowly) and towels perfectly white! AND we paid $20 more for a 3 night stay compared to another hotel’s price for 1 night! It’s not in the best part of town and not sure about the breakfast yet but so far we are very happy and relieved! The owner is trying and seems to care. If you are fussy choose another place if you like a good deal book now!
We needed a place to crash on our last minute road trip, and this place had an excellent deal. The lobby was very clean and inviting, and the desk clerk was SO NICE and friendly. Then we got to our room. Stank of smoke, let the front desk know, “no problem, we’ll get you a new room! ” We get to our new room and it also smells of smoke, but it’s only one night. Whatever. But after being in this room for a couple hours, I see that it’s VERY dirty. Stains on the walls, the towels have stains, the toiletries given are used (aside from the soap), dust on the fixtures, one light is being held together with duct tape, etc. It’s not meant to be a 5 star experience, but it could at least be clean.
I arrived and the first room was not cleaned and prepared. They switched me to a second room. Later that night I found a person sitting inside my room after I left the hotel. The room was given to a person, luckily I never brought my bags inside. The hotel is not a 3 star, they dont seem to have cleaning personel. I never saw one during my stay. On the second room I found the TV remote inside the two mattresses plus old pieces of candy and stains in the sheets and carpet. At my third room, given that same day, I found the door knob and the lamp switches very greasy. Felt like really oily residue. The balcony door and the connection door locks did not worked. The staff knew about ongoing issues at the hotel and acted like everything that I mentioned to them was like a normal thing there. NASTY PLACE this hotel is a scam DO NOT STAY HERE.
Do not stay at this disgusting filthy hotel. If you do, don’t pay in advance, they will not give you a refund.
Clean comfortable quiet place. Definitely worth skipping the shady place across the street and paying a little extra.
Very rude charge you more money at check then stated on your reservation.
Needs updates room are dirty the whole place is dirty but the beds were soft and I found no bed bugs. Housekeeping needs more training to be fair I am a vice president for a commercial cleaning company in Indianapolis so I can be very picky I would not recommend a stay here.
Because the staff that is here now is very disrespectful got to talk to them they get to speaking in their language and then they want to stare and talk about you in their language.
Stayed here 3 weeks ago for my son graduation in Fort Jackson, SC. The rooms were nice breakfast was ok the usual u find at hotels unless your at a 5 star hotel. I had 6 rooms reserved & everything was from the dates & prices were messed up. I stayed here from July 31 to Aug 3. I was very very very disappointed in the way things were handled. I even had emails stating how many rooms I had & prices I was to be charged. I have booked multiple rooms before in different hotels & never had a problem. Everything was correct. It didn't matter if I booked it through the hotel or through a third party everything I was told was on point. Even tho I didn't let it put a damper on celebrating my son graduation it's a experience I hope anyone else doesn't have to go through but looking at the reviews I wished I would have went to another hotel!
The lobby is beautiful. I thought I had truly got a deal. Once getting to the room I quickly seen why the price was what it was. The staff was nice and did exactly what they were supposed to. I actually was so impressed by the lobby I told the lady that was checking me in and she said they're working on the hotel. So I imagine in a couple months it'll be better. I'll definitely come check it out again. Probably check the room before I book though. Pictures of the lobby. A toilet not all the way clean. Stained couches. Balcony that only need a pressure wash. Trash left on the balcony and the room. I understand you can't replace a couch that quickly but, that's a simple carpet cleaner solution and that stain is gone.
Hotel stay was nice. They had breakfast which was standard. Eggs. Sausage. Bread. Waffles. Well you get the point. Room layout was awesome as well. Bedroom was separate from. The little den area which had a huge desk a pull out couch and 2 chairs. I only thing missing was a hot tub. Lol.
Great rates, awesome full sized chess board by pool. Only complaint is that there isn't a hot tub anymore (which is one of the main reasons I booked it). The hot tub was replaced by the arcade room. But all in all it was a great place with an excellent breakfast.
Staff was extremely professional and polite! The hotel room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Hot breakfast options were available (not just waffles). I also loved the new arcade! My only complaint was kids playing the full size chess set in the courtyard until late at night. They couldn't pick them up so they were just dragging them. My hotel room faced the courtyard and you could hear it clearly. That was just an experience and the hotel itself was a great option for the price!
The Baymont Inn Northwest is located in an area of Columbia that's harder than I expected. However, the suite my son and I had was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The Inn is situated across from a super Wal-Mart and right on I-26. The breakfast is better skipped. No ice machine on second floor, third floor machine broken, one in the lobby worked.
Dated but CLEAN… CLEAN… CLEAN… so the reason I gave the hotel a 5 is the Cleanliness bathroom, sheets, to the walls in the hallway are amazingly clean for a older hotel. The pool is also sparkling clean. My husband and I travel for his job. We usely take our camper but this is only a 5 day trip. So I looked and looked for a hotel in this area. It was a challenge to find a hotel that was not trashed or didn't cost over $140 a night. When we got here I looked at the room before paying. I couldn't believe how big and clean it was. We are only on our 2nd night but I don't see us having any problems here. I hope your stay is as good as ours, and this was helpful!
Conveniently located and clean were our biggest selling points. The staff was friendly and cheerful. The hot breakfast in the morning allowed us to get on the road quicker and continue our trip. Although we did not use the pool it looked nice.
This is our third time staying in a Baymont in the last three weeks. This one is just as nice as those in KY and IN that we stayed in before. The lobby and breakfast area is very nice. All the staff that we met were very nice and professional. Room was neat and clean.
The staff are so friendly! The room was clean and large enough to be very comfortable. The breakfast was good, but the coffee wasn't great. There's construction equipment in the back, so if you arrive later, parking isn't the best. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again if we are ever in the area again.
Nice room. A few issues from construction. Breakfast buffet needs work. But overall we enjoyed ourselves.
Do not stay here, this hotel was disgusting. My wife and I arrived late (7pm) after a day of traveling. When we're getting settled I noticed a cockroach on top of the fridge. This led me to investigate the entire room. They were pretty much everywhere, this room hadn't been properly cleaned since the 70's. I can't even begin to explain the dirtiness, carpets are gross, dust in the corners of the room so thick, curtains stained with filth. There was even a smooshed cockroach on the bottom of the Wi-Fi advertisement in the room. I could keep going on, but I'm not. Then the final insult is that this nasty hotel is being "updated" so the construction crew started hammering right outside our sliding doors that have a view of a demolished courtyard at 7am on a Sunday morning, we should have just left. I couldn't sleep all night I felt like there were bugs on me while I slept. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, EVER! We travel a lot and are not high maintenance, this I by far one of the worst hotels I've ever had the displeasure of staying at.
Good place for an overnight stay. Cleanliness could improve. Breakfast buffet was good. Staff friendly and helpful.
Recently I visited this location for travel. When I entered the location it looked to be great but the rest of my trip awaited me. Through the next few days I was able to stay here without any major issues, the house keeping staff were help full and considerate. My interactions with the front desk was also quick, and the employees themselves were nice and helped me when needed.
Checked in a week ago Friday. Got to my room and started to get situated. Opened the first drawer to put my stuff in and it was full of fast food wrappers and CONDOMS. 3 boxes of condoms, condiments, salt n pepper, sauces etc. Obviously not cleaned. Opened the drawer next to the bed, full of trash. Woke up 1st morning and made coffee. Floating in my coffee pot was top ramen, obviously not cleaned prior to my stay… gross. Took a shower and did not have hot water AT ALL. Day 2, took another shower and it was barely warm. Went to the front desk to ask about it and asked the crusty old angry smart ass guy to please not give me any excuses because they were not acceptable. He immediately told me that I was on the top floor and furthest away from the heater. I explained to him that I let the water run on hot from 6am to 6:15 and yet still didnt have any hot water… he made it a big point to show me the clock next to him showing it was only 5:20am. I then walked away before blowing my stack at this unhelpful idiot. I had a DO NOT DISTURB sign on my door and people went in my room while I was at work, making me feel completely unsafe and uncomfortable the rest of my trip. I was eating breakfast when another brilliant front desk employee decided it was a great time to Febreeze the entire area. EVERYONE was mad due to him spraying chemicals in the air while we were eating. All I tasted was Febreeze the next bite and wound up throwing away my entire meal.
Read other reviews to know that I'm not pulling your leg. Do yourself a favor and keep moving. This place needs help. Check in was a little frustrating. The other person that we were traveling with had to go elsewhere. Didn't even accept the room, but still got charged for it. To much mold in the bathing area. The one optional room offered had a bad worn out mattress in it. Room, run down, water (CAUTION) way to hot, staff a little loud (actually yelled at me from across the hall for walking towards my room with breakfast items), TV broke (powered off then would not stay on), lots of parking but some was muddy, button in elevator (#3) does not light up, icemaker on our floor didn't work and was taken apart while we were here, one exterior door would not lock, black out curtain had tears in it, internet Wi-Fi kept kicking us out, etc. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere until they get this place together, if that ever happens. Read reviews. I hope they don't mess with our card on file… Just like the Cowboys… 1 star.
We made our reservation about 6 weeks prior to our stay. Because we were traveling for a fishing tournament we called prior to booking the room and asked if we could have a lower level room that opened out to the parking lot and explained that we would have a boat and would need to be able to charge our batteries. I explained that we would have our own power cords. The person I spoke with stated that they did have a lower level room opening to the parking lot and the hook would not be a problem. When we arrived there was a very nice young man working the desk and he told us that they did not have a lower level room that opened to the outside and they do not have outside receptacles. He and the maintenance man tried very hard to accommodate our needs. We were given a room on the second floor and were told that we could run our extension cord from the parking space in front of our balcony to our room, which we did. While we were at dinner a lady called my husband and told him we had to unplug the cord (which did not run across a parking lot or sidewalk), because it was a hazard. We fish all over SC and have never had a hotel tell us we couldn't use the power to hook up our charger. Also the photo of the hotel on the wyndham app did not look at all like the actual hotel. The photo showed the hotel having rooms that opened to the parking lot. The desk clerk even stated that others had mentioned the same thing about the photo being different.
The staff were less than welcoming, the included breakfast was gone by 9:00 even though it went until 9:30, and my room was dusty.
Very horrible trip, please do not stay here unless you like being bit by bed bugs offered drugs by staff an scared of other sketchy guest staying there. Breakfast was disgusting and burnt, room smelled musty an there was hair clogging the drain. When we went to leave early and we asked for our money back they said it would take 2-3 weeks worst place ever!
Not a 3 star hotel! Priceline said it was. Need a make over. I give it a 1.5 stars. Princeline I want my money back. Now staff is kind and the hotel has great water pressure.
Staff was overwhelmed with checking people in. We brought our own DVD player but TV didn't have an HDMI hook up. So we called the front desk to see if they had a cord they left us on hold for like 15 mins and then just dismissed us.
Another horrible experience. Owner is a jerk, disrespectful and rude. My husband cut his hand trying to snap the cover the air conditioning unit back on since it kept falling off Everytime the heat would turn on, ended up needing stitches and bled everywhere. The staff was rude, unapologetic, even disregarded the fact that he cut his hand on their janky ghetto quipment. Called corporate, and they can't do anything because they are privately owned. The owner forced us to leave threatened to call the cops because we weren't getting our things out fast enough. So my husband and I left and the owner said " that's ok, file a complaint, I still have your money. " This place is horrid, food is gross, hotel is falling apart, staff is the worst and customer service is non existent. Only upside is they are now dog friendly.
This was rated a 3 Star when I booked through Priceline but it should be a 1.5 star. The rooms and corridors are filthy (trust me I'm not that picky). We wouldn't have stayed but we arrived late and were exhausted. The staff were very friendly however.
$70 with tax and military discount. Extremely clean room, bed is comfortable and pillows are so amazing. Also comes with balcony, mini fridge, microwave. Free breakfast in the AM. Perfect get away, safe area.
Great staff. Everyone was nice and professional. Room was a bit dated but clean. Good deal for the money.
First room smelled like smoke (although non-smoking room), balcony door was broken, so could not open to air out. Second room had a very strong garlic smell. Both beds were uneven and lumpy (felt as if broken supports) and shower/tub drain was very slow. Property definitely needs some maintenance. Would not recommend.
Staff was very polite and helpful. Room was clean. AC worked great as it was in the 90's outside. Breakfast bar had all the basics, coffee bar as well. Fridge and microwave in room. Very comfortable place to stay.
They do not offer morning transportation to the airport even though they contract with American Airlines to take stranded travelers and the airport employees will tell you that there is transport back (just not early enough to catch any morning flight before 11am). So expect to pay out of pocket an additional $25 for a taxi that they call for you. It was smoke-free. Carpet had several stains throughout the hallways that looked like brown and orange diarrhea or vomit. Room itself was moderately clean but fairly low quality.
Check in was fast and easy. The hotel was clean and had adequate amenities for an overnight stay. The free full breakfast was a nice treat and allowed us to get on the road quickly.
Very run down, dirty, stained sheets, food and dirt on the carpet, hair on the bathroom floor. Hallway floors are covered with dirt, leaves and even bubble gum. The Sink squirts more water on you than the shower. Enough dust to write your name in (we did), walls have mold stains on them, all of the Febreeze they spray doesn't make it clean. Sliding doors to the pool are broken and screens are hanging on for dear life. Tons of cigarette butts in the grass on the porch. The pool is tiny, dirty and in disrepair. The toilet doesn't flush, so get a plunger along with your key when you check in at the front desk. Three floors of no ice, sadly I can go on and on. The picture on the website is very misleading. The ONLY GOOD thing is that the maintenance man is very helpful, kind and doing his best with the obvious mess he has to contend with, he deserves a raise. This place is in dire need of renovations, new linens, bedding and a housekeeping staff that knows how to clean or actually will do it. The owner needs to put some $$ back into this place.
Everyone was very pleasant and everything was clean. I would definitely stay here again. The option of having a personal balcony to step out and smoke on is VERY convenient. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because my girlfriend and her friends got stuck on the elevator for about 30 mins.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The amenities were as expected and the included breakfast was nice. My only issue was the air conditioner in the room. It worked, but only just. It was clearly very old and the coldest setting wasn't as cool as I would have liked.
Very clean and quiet! The breakfast was better than I expect from Continental Breakfasts, and the wonderful staff let us check in early, which was really nice after flying in on a red-eye. We enjoyed our stay!
Very friendly staff that went out of their way to be helpful and accommodating. Lobby was very nice. Rooms are being updated, and ours was roomy and clean. This was a great hotel for the price. We would stay here again.
Our check-in was effortless and we had no problems until we got to our room. The hotel has switched to a key card system that all you have to do is wave the card in front of the door handle. Well, ours didn't work… For six tries. However, the staff were very accommodating and so helpful, that it wasn't really an issue. Things like that are to be expected with new systems. The room was clean, spacious, and nice. The pool and hot tub were well maintained, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travelers.
Nice little hotel that won't cost an arm and a leg. Service desk was super friendly and rooms were nice. Our only issue was that floors were pretty filthy and could use a good cleaning. To the eye they looked clean but our daughter legs began to blacken withing minutes of crawling on the floor…
Amazing! I felt so wanted by the staff. Especially the manager. The staff was amazing! Was able to check in at 9am so that I wouldn't have to sit in the lobby for hours! I enjoyed the layout, the fresh clean scents everywhere, the spacious rooms, the amenities and food. Clean, spacey, and lovely. For a cheap hotel I RECOMMEND!
Simple rooms, some have small balconies. The grounds and exterior are clean. The rooms are clean but there is a lot of room for improvement. A card swipe is needed to enter anywhere other than the main entrance. One very annoying problem is the fire alarm going off falsely on a daily basis at varying hours. I would stay again at this hotel.
Lets start with check-in, which took over 30 minutes because there was one employee on the busiest weekend for South Carolina (PGA Masters week). Lady checking us in kept answering the phone and complaining to us about the people calling and interrupting her. She had a bad attitude with everyone that called including us. Woke up at 5:00a with a ROACH on my chest. Travel partner had 3 different bugs in his bed. I caught the roach in a cup and took it down to the front desk. The person behind the counter just looked at it and said "Sorry, Its just that time of year. " I went back to my room to look for more bugs and found woman's hair nestled within the sheets. I am a man, so this lets me know the sheets haven't been change since last person who stayed. Walls are so thin, that my traveling partner in the next room was able to hear my entire call that I had with my wife.
Dirty. Dusty. I felt the need to check for bugs. Rips in the furniture. Thankful it's a one night stay. It's obvious there isn't much vacuuming or dusting done in the rooms.
Friendly staff, front desk when above and beyond to accommodate us due to misunderstanding with third party reservation. Great complementary breakfast, room was clean and plenty of parking.
Hotel should be a 1 star across the board. I have never complained about a hotel bed as I can sleep just about anywhere. The mattress was so old and about four inches thick. The metal springs, lumps and valleys where ridiculous. If you have ever slept on a roll away; picture the wires and springs king size but no levels areas. The breakfast was an absolute joke they had old loaf of bread, few mini muffins and a crock pot of old looking gravy and a silver hot plate with four biscuits in it. I posted a picture. I heard three others complaining it was a joke. Save your money holiday inn or highway hotel is way better! The front desk was nice but the rest of the staff was lousy. — constant traveler.
We have been staying at the Baymont Northwest off and on at least 4 nights aweek for over a year, we have had a great experience. The staff is excellent and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
My sister and I arrived at the Baymont Inn 6/24/15 with no idea how long we were going to stay. Another sibling was in a tragic accident and in the ICU at a nearby hospital. Needless to say we were distraught. The hotel staff were very kind to us. Our stay extended longer than we expected and even though our room was already reserved for other quests, the staff made arrangements so that we didn't need to change rooms. The employee that oversees the breakfast buffet went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable and when she heard about our family tragedy she expressed sincere sympathy. It made a tremendous difference to be at hotel that seemed to wrap their arms around us. Thank you.
Overall a really nice place. My experiance. Booked through Expidea and got a fair price. There was mix up between expedia and baymont but they made it right, even gave us a free upgrade on our ro to a double suite. The outside and inside are very well kept, thougj not in the best area. However despite the neighborhood, it was easy to get to, conveniant to everything and plenty of law enforcement pateol so never felt out of place. The staff were courtiusy and on point overall and helpful as needed aside from the house keeping team. On that point, we left for the day around 8 am, out dirty towels were removed but that is all. When we returned just before 4, nothing more had been done, the beds were unmade the trash not removed no new coffe in the room etc. And about 415 the room service person? arived with towels ans nothing more. That was the bad. The good. No queations asked repare of and upgrade due to the websites mistake was flawless and not asked for, but freely offered. Very clean, calm and quiet facility. Plenty of eminities. And ease of access. Our room. A dbl suite. The beds were full size not queen, but no issue as it was only myself and my 2 daughters. The room was comforitable and offered a fridge, microwave and storage as well as 2 LG flat screens (though limited cable) one in the liveingroom area and one in the bedroom. Clean and well stocked.
Total disappointment! It should have been rated a 1 star… not even close to 3 stars! The staff was less than friendly. The TV had technical issues… refrigerator old and dirty. AC dusty and made terrible noise. Carpet on elevator nasty.
The rooms were nice; the beds were comfortable! The pool and breakfast were pretty good too. Plus, it's close to Walmart and gas stations.
The stay was Great, very clean and organized breakfast was also good no complaints at all, nice quiet area close to Wal-Mart I'll give it 4 stars.
No room service after Staying over. Smoke detector and TV have technical issues. Breakfast was great but hospitality was not good. Nice rooms and great secure hotel access.
BED BUGS! First time staying in this hotel for ONE NIGHT and I was bite by BED BUGS. I have never felt this itchy EVER. Had to get rid of all my stuff I took with me even the new stuff I bought while there. I felt like this would be a good hotel being that it had such great reviews Sorry not Sorry this is a BAD REVIEW.
My experience was GREAT. Early check in granted by a member of the staff. Great great. My room was clean and nice. The breakfast was very delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of that $50 deposit (debit hold) required by them. Never experienced that anywhere. Just glad I had enough money to cover it.
I'd give it a zero if allowed. First of all, this place comes NOWHERE near the quality of the other 3-star hotels I've stayed in. Everything is old and smells. The AC units don't work, there was black mold in the bathroom, and the front desk staff is extremely unprofessional in appearance and demeanor. If you think Red Roof in or Motel 6 are good places to stay, then you might think this is a step up. However, the Wingate by Wyndam in Harbison is listed as a 2.5-star hotel and is MUCH, MUCH nicer than this place for around the same price.
Not even close to 3 stars. Not very clean, external doors were broken, key card didn't work, staff wasn't all that friendly. Bed sheets were obviously not changed from previous guests. Very disappointed.
We stayed at this hotel for the SC vs UF game. We had a great stay! The hotel is nice with very affordable rates. It is clean and close to downtown. It probably has the best complimentary breakfast I've ever had at a hotel. If I'm ever back in columbia I will stay here again.
I stayed two nights at Baymont while staying in Columbia for my sons graduation from basic training at Ft. Jackson. I would highly recommend this hotel, the grounds were well kept, the rooms and rest of the hotel was very clean, and the staff was very kind and helpful. Thank you for making my stay an enjoyable one.
The internet is incredibly slow most of the time, if its even working at all. When you run a bandwith test you get about. 1mbps download and. 37mbps. If you spend 20 minutes on the phone with tech support you will get fast internet for about an 30 minutes until it either completely goes out or slows down by a factor of 20. I called tech support 6 times in a span of 2 days. Each call was an average of 20 minutes and the issue was never fully resolved. If you need to use the internet for work purposes then avoid this hotel at all costs as it will make your life hell.

Checked in after long day of traveling. Room was booked online. No problem with reservation except they insisted on a cash deposit in they would cancel the reservation. No issue with card, just sudden need for cash only transactions from all guests. Seems shady. Goid thing I looked up the tax records and owners and spent 30 plus years working for the deep state. This will be a fun project.
