Genetti's in Wilkes-Barre called my daughter 34 days before her wedding and told her that she would need to reschedule her wedding due to the new order from Gov. Wolf. Regarding indoor gatherings were now a maximum of 25 people. Invites were back and they had 165 guest attending. They chose not to reschedule to possibly next year, but relocating to an outdoor venue that was private property. They asked to speak with someone about getting the deposit they gave them back since THEY cancelled due to the inability to honor our contract. After many unanswered phone calls and voicemails, they got back to then and said that they were willing to PARTIALLY refund them their deposit, although contract they signed could not be honored by Genetti's. Genetti's stated due to covid restrictions, that was not possible for them to uphold the contract on the date on the contract. (Aka breach of contract) When they spoke to the owner of the venue and mentioned they would be having a lawyer look over their contract and assess the case, the owner told them that “since they brought up the ugly word (meaning lawyers) they had two options, 1. They could just take the partial refund and not get any lawyers involved or 2. They could get lawyers involved and possibly not get any of their money back. ” So they were basically partially refunded to keep hush about what they are doing to those that they have cancelled on due to COVID-19 restrictions. All vendors except Genetti's has refunded them 100% of their deposits due to the unprecedented circumstances of a global pandemic. All of these businesses were MUCH smaller than this venue.
I have hosted several weddings, bridal showers, and baby showers here. I will never use this venue for another event. Please check your contracts as "global pandemics" do not warrent a full refund!
