I recommend this hotel if you are looking for a VERY laid back atmosphere. If you are renting chairs/umbrellas from the hotel, you do so daily and then can use them only until 5pm. Tiki bar only stays open until 5pm. There is not much within walking distance of the hotel. On a side note, our shower only worked part of the time and had very low water pressure. I’m sure not all rooms have this problem but this was our experience.

This hotel is very nice, clean and in the very BEST LOCATION of the OBX. It’s central to everything and all that you need is close by. We paid around $500 a night for an oceanfront deluxe room. I thought the price was a little high. But, it is peak season. So, I understand.
Hilton is doing a new thing where you can pay before you arrive, check in on your phone and then use your phone as your key card. It’s pretty neat and saved us time and hassle of having to go by the front desk. The hotel has its own pier, private beach, nice pools (indoor and outdoor) and a good tiki bar. The OBX doesn’t have an abundance of nice or newer hotels like some larger beach areas/cities do. But, I would highly recommend this hotel over any of the others in the area.

We were promised an ocean front room when we reserved and we paid extra to get it. All we got is an ocean view mediocre room that is not worth half the money we paid.

This is a beautiful hotel. Very clean and great customer service. The Restaurant has excellent food and the scenery is just gorgeous. This is now my very favorite place to visit. We will definitely be back. ❤️

Great location and great staff!

In all of my years visiting the Outer Banks, this was the first time staying in a hotel there. I’ve always stayed in a house in Kill Devil Hills. I found an article that said this was the best hotel there! It is really nice and even though it was there off-season, I enjoyed my stay. I only have two concerns about the hotel. Even though the weather was perfect — no wind, rain, clouds, etc — the TV service was horrible. I think they must have satellite service and the picture kept freezing and getting blurry/fuzzy. My only other complaint was that the toilet paper holder was out of reach to the toilet. It was located right under the sink and the toilet was clear across the room by the shower. The hotel has a fire pit but it wasn’t turned on the night we were there. I like the fact that they had indoor and outdoor pools.

Nice hotel on a nice beach. I'm here off season. Fishing pier is adjacent. Hours 8-10 PM. Several restaurants in walking distance. Thai, seafood pizza … Supermarket Food Lion half a mile away. No grubhub or doordash, but things are close.

Last minute decision. Very accommodating staff, friendly and courteous. Even with Covid restrictions they offer good services. Located beside the pier, oceanfront, and close to shopping, kids activities, and restaurants. Offers pool and seaside sitting. Breakfast on the patio and fire pit evenings. Really enjoyed ourselves and will be back.

Hotel itself is nice but rooms are tired looking, I asked for a suite but was disappointed by the size and bathroom. We’re here for Christmas but our home is on a beach so we liked the ocean views and familiar crashing waves. I’d be willing to pay more for a larger room and balcony.

The location of this hotel is absolutely wonderful. It was convenient to every Venue we visited during the weekend. The buffet breakfast was ample and tasty.

Fantastic views of ocean, pier, fabulous breakfasts, lovely decor and rooms. Great location, beautiful venue for weddings. Wedding was going on while there at the pier!

Gorgeous location with a lot of potential… but the customer service was poor. My room was barely cleaned and the last night we came back to find our room had been left open all day and the bed looked like someone had been sleeping in it. I like Hiltons… stayed in many. I'm generally not one to review even complain, but between the broken hot tub, my door left open to the public… and the poor response to questions… I wouldn't recommend staying here if you have other choices.

Horrible! I read the review and thought this would be an awesome place for a family vacation and back to school celebration but much to my surprise I was wrong. First at check in they had to our reservation wrong: With a family of 5 they wanted to fit us in a single room verses suite. After 30 mins they found our reservation. We finally get relaxed and 4 fire alarms later we are still up at 2am. Never again. Worst birthday every! Monika and leslie are the worst at customer service but the manager Jeremy is pretty reasonable.

In addition to being a perfect location, this by far has the best staff! Trust us between the two of us, we have about 200 hotel stays across the US per year.

Lovely location right on the beach. We were fortunate to have a sea view and a balcony. Staff were very friendly. Just wish we could have longer.

We stayed here with two kids and three adults. Quick check in. Clean, spacious rooms (with a BEAUTIFUL ocean front view). Friendly staff. Clean, indoor pool area with large hot tub and nice towels (always a plus! ) Nice little restaurant and bar right in the lobby. Food was delicious, drinks were cold and service was fast and friendly! Highly recommend!

Perfect ocean view and amenities considering the price and location. Breakfast was reasonably priced and provided several options. There's several seating options near the pool area so you can relax poolside or just close to the pool and best of all either option provides a view of the ocean.

Not very many large hotel chains on the outer banks, but I'm glad there's a Hilton property in Kitty Hawk. Conveniently located at mile post 1. Shops and restaurants are only a walk away. Nice amenities such as indoor and outdoor pools, exercise room, and game room. This is an ocean side hotel, so just a short walk to the beach. They own the Kitty Hawk pier now, so as a guest you have access to fish. Rooms are clean, comfortable, and roomy. Staff was friendly and professional. I enjoyed my stay here.

Nice hotel right on the water. I had an ocean front room and loved the experience. The room was clean and so was the open areas of the hotel. The front desk clerk did take a while to get e checked in as the computer was having software issues. Overall the hotel is way overpriced but you will have a pleasant stay.

Very pleased with our stay here. Lots of amenities, and friendly staff to boot. Indoor/outdoor pool, huge hot tub, pool side bar, restaurant and clean, comfortable rooms. Also, has its own pier available to guests for fishing or just relaxing. Has just about everything you'd want on a beachside hotel. Couldn't have been happier.

Not uncommon for beach hotels. The staff are *outstanding*! Everyone we interacted with was courteous, helpful and dedicated to service. Wonderful place!

Great place with beautiful views. The breakfast isn't amazing but there is a great local place with two locations that has the best breakfast I've ever had. Look for it.

Normally I would rate a hilton at 5 stars as it's my hotel of choice but this one is still in the 80s. With a recent face lift and improved interior decor you still cant shake that old hotel feel. From the smells in the room (not bad just old hotel smell) to the patio facing the ocean having old paint and not having taking part of the remodel. Staff was above reproach as is expected at a hilton. Food was above average.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Outer Banks over Memorial Day weekend and had the best experience. The staff, from Front desk, Beach side, restaurant and cleaning crew, all were very courteous, helpful, smiling and going above and beyond my needs. The staff attitude and demeanor was outstanding! Truly made me feel welcome and therefore made my vacation much more enjoyable. The Hotel is very clean and spacious. The beach area is very nice. The food at the hotel was excellent. I will return and will suggest this hotel to everyone!

Paid for oceanfront corner room. Upon entry to our 2nd FL rm, we discovered it was directly infront and over the pool. People were literally sitting right outside our advertised 'private' balcony looking directly in our room. The side corner window had a view of the building next door vs an ocean view as advertised. Upon asking for a different rm, we were told it was the last one. Strange how people continued to check in hours after our request. When it got dark the pool SPOT lights were shining directly into our rm. These were lights in addition to the pool area lights. Staff did turn them away as best as they could upon our request but they only go so far. Staff was rude from the get go from check in to check out even though we tried to be understanding and didn't get frustrated until the light situation. This Hilton gives a bad rep to the good ones.

On the beach and has a good breakfast buffet. Convenient location small shops are walking distance from hotel. Indoor pool.

Great location. Nice staff. Was excited about finally getting to order room service after feeding my daughter and laying her down for a nap, but the kitchen was closed from 3-5. Didn't realize this was a thing. I called the front desk to confirm and mentioned I was hungry and pregnant and she brought me a goody bag. Very thoughtful. But then I just ate junk and was still hungry. Oh well, such is life.

We paid $204 plus tax for an ocean view room. The view was beautiful! It's nicely located, parking spots were a good size (some hotels minimize parking spot sizes to get more spots-which causes door dings etc) The check in and reception was quick, lady was able to answer questions about local to do's and where best spot for sunset. Our toilet started doing the running water sounds, we called and the maintenance guy came up within a few minutes, looked at it, and was able to get it fixed. Very friendly as well!

Very nice hotel. I always like the Hilton when on vacation. This was no exception. Higher floor has better view of ocean.

Really had a good time in Hilton Garden Inn/Kitty Hawk. The hotel staff are very professional and nice. My wife and daughter loved the indoor swimming pool (which was kept very warm since it was a chilly April week). On a rainy day on one of our 4 days, it was a great activity for the kids to swim. The jacuzzi is also really nice (and hot). The back of the hotel opens onto a pier and we had an oceanfront view. Since I drink espresso (not coffee) we were glad Duck Donuts is across the street. It's a laid back hotel with a full breakfast buffet and also to-order meals like eggs benedict. For dinner the sirloin steak with mashed potatoes at the restaurant and cheesecake were really good. We ordered that steak two nights in a row and both times could not finish our plate (steak is 10 oz, ordered cooked medium well, came exactly as we ordered it unlike our experience at some local chop houses). The hotel is close to the Wright Brothers memorial park where we went for hours, flying kites with our kids and walking the monument. The aquariums in the hotel lobby and fireplaces made it comfortable for us to sit and enjoy and for our kids to have something interesting to look at. There is a small arcade/game room for the kids too. We keep talking about our kids but… it is relaxing enough and so laid back there we would like to come sometime without our children.

The Group Services Manager of this hotel was wonderful to work with! She accommodated my special request on short notice and worked out a perfect solution for a surprise I was trying to arrange for my son who was staying here. Thank you Hilton Garden Inn for making this trip a memorable one for my son who was your guest! We will choose your hotel if we have the pleasure of visiting OBX in the future!

Hands down, the best place to stay in outer banks. Very clean rooms and best staff. Is it more $$$… Yes, but worth it. You must stay there one time and your hooked. Ocean view is great!

I removed one star cause the dinning area and the corridors were freezing! We had to wear a coat to get out of our room. Other than that the room was clean, coffee, tea were available in the room as well as downstairs, 24hours a day. Staff was amazingly friendly and helpful! Great breakfast. Nice choice for dinner.

They have the best breakfast on the outer banks. The price is reasonable and you get all the coffee, tea, eggs, French toast, pancakes, juices etc that you can eat for one low price.
The staff is polite and the place is clean and comfortable. The view of the ocean is perfect. If I could afford it I would go there every month.
The lobby has lots of seating couches and relaxing chairs. It’s like a home away from home. Love this place. It’s worth paying the few bucks extra to stay here.

Nice hotel, wonderful staff. The amenities at the hotel are nice and inviting. There are a few strange oversights. The shower curtain is too small for the tub and the sheets are too small for the bed. It makes no sense but if you over look those small items great hotel. However the staff are the real gem here. They are great. I've had the staffer who was moving supplies stop and call the elevator for me because I was carrying bags. I've had the multiple people, not those behind the reception desk, Zip wisha good day. This is such a friendly place you cannot help but smile. I will be staying here next time I visit Kitty Hawk.

Right on the beach, with free access to the adjoining Kitty Hawk fishing pier, this Hilton has a bit of a steep price but the rooms are clean and spacious and the lobby and facilities and staff are inviting and interesting. Several fireplaces and separated seating areas with TVs are available for guests. Free business area and Wi-Fi. Great ocean views — — even from side rooms. Indoor and outdoor pools, nice ocean side seating areas, good food (some well-priced and some ridiculously-priced), breakfast and dinner available at the restaurant and/or bar (limited hours), snack shop with everything from candy and microwaveable foods to wine and t-shirts (all hours), great (and huge) fish tanks in lobby and eating areas, game area and meeting rooms, and much more. The wheelchair accessible room is truly wheelchair accessible. Only challenge was the door to the guest room was too heavy for this wheelchair user, but this was quickly remedied with the staff removing the automatic closing mechanism. We enjoyed happy hours (into the wee hours of each morning) by the fireplaces each night, and strolls on the pier (albeit a short pier). I don’t think I have ever enjoyed “hotel space” — lobby, bar, indoor/outdoor, pool, etc — more than this particular hotel. Was very happy with this choice for a long weekend at the beach during late fall — which was all about checking off some “Bucket List” items.

Loved this place. Its Right on the beach. Nice pool and hot tub inside with a beautiful pool outside also. The room was very nice but I found the bed a bit hard for my liking. Nice gas fire pit outside and seating along the beach makes for a great night of watching the stars. Decent breakfast buffet but it's not included with your room rental.

Our experience was wonderful! Housekeeping did an excellent job each day, the room was clean, and the beach was excellent. We were in an ocean front room and could not have been much closer to the ocean! We will definitely recommend to friends, and come back ourselves.

Had my 84 year old grandma & 11 year old with me we were down for a wedding. I must say it was BEAUTIFUL. Great service. Wonderful staff. View of the beach was breath taking. We had king bed with pullout sofa and still had room for a blowup mattress (if needed). She had her oxygen delivered & front desk staff had it sent straight to the room. Environment was clean & well kept. However, for the price I wish they would include complimentary breakfast. Instead we opted for McDonald's (which was 5mins away). I reserved a handicap room the entrance & bathroom doors were hard to open & keep ajar. My grandma uses a walker/wheelchair, so she's busy enough trying to maneuver that much less holding a door. The shower was nice & low equipped with two grab bars, it was easy access for her to step in BUT there was no medical stool or mounted sitting, which meant I had to hold her so she could bathe. This was our 1st time in a Hilton Gardens Hotel, we worked with what we had & overall WE had a great time.

The Hilton Garden Inn at Kitty Hawk is a clean, modern facility. The staff were friendly and helpful, and all the usual amenities were provided. They also have meeting/banquet rooms and it looks like a lovely spot for a beach wedding.

This is a fantastic location and the hotel is really nice with great staff. Will definitely return. The restaurant served great breakfast, but their dinner options could use some improvement. On the beach and both an outdoor and indoor pool. Close and convenient to lots of restaurants, shops, and things to do.

Good hotel, right on the beach in Kitty Hawk. Easy access to go out on the beach and right beside the pier. The room booked was an ocean view, and while it is ocean view it was a little piece of the ocean that actually faces the courtyard area. While I was there the power went out so the elevators were down, which was inconvenient so I had to carry my suitcase down 5 flights of stairs to leave. I realize this isn't the hotels fault, but I think this could have been handled better, with workers ready to assist with luggage. While I was fine moving my luggage down 5 flights, I know others wouldn't be able to do so as easily.

Hotel is pretty nice and the staff is friendly and helpful. But I would NOT recommend dinner from the restaurant. That was the most tasteless tuna and roasted potatoes I've ever not really eaten. And I was told when I ordered that the vegetable of the day was asparagus but instead it came with unseasoned zucchini. So sorry I didn't venture out into the rain. That's the worst dinner I've ever had in the Outer Banks. It brings the hotel rating down.

We arrived about 4 pm and the room wasn't ready. We waited in a hot, humid lobby for 45 minutes to get access to our room. We got into the room and there were crumbs on the chair, no bath towels, dirty hand towels, no mattress cover on the sofa bed. We paid way less for a hotel in Williamsburg the night before and the one in Williamsburg was way better than this. Having said that, the room was big and we had a decent view of the ocean. But for $300/night, I expected better.

This is my second trip to this location & it did not disappoint. Great location, friendly staff! They JUST finished the beach restoration in front of the hotel the day I arrived so no equipment or noise on the beach anymore! I loved it!

Comfortable hotel with nice amenities. A very large outdoor pool and an inside pool with a very large spa. The hotel restaurant has a decent selection of options for both kids and adults. There is a private beach and pier for hotel guests with an ability to rent fishing gear. We really loved sitting out on the balcony and watching/listening to the waves.

We just returned from a quick overnight. It was fantastic as always! We have been visiting this hotel for a number of years now 2014 been the last. We decided on a quick trip before returning with my in laws in August. The hotel while always been great they have made some really nice improvements. New furniture outside the tiki bar creating a really nice restaurant. Creating an upper deck above the pool with a sea view. The staff throughout are so welcoming and helpful. It is really nice even after 3 years to see many of the staff that were there when we first started visiting. We were due to check out on the 4th with a long drive ahead it was a really nice that the hotel had a 4th of July cookout free to all guests. Freshly grilled food! Awesome way to end a whirlwind trip to Kitty Hawk. Until August.

Well as a Hilton diamond member you would hope that your room would be available on arrival if you arrived early. Checkout being at 11am and all, it's 3 pm and check in is at 4, I totally understand, I've heard some hotels have a hot sheet for most valuable customers (diamond members) list to clean there rooms first but hey whatever. Especially with a baby in tow. Would possibly more understanding. But hey whatever could of been more hospitable maybe offered water for us while we waited. But yet again maybe it's our age seeing that they let older couples Check in before us. I say maybe customer service should be a little bit more willing to work on a solution. Or possibly see if housekeeping is close to cleaning the room or not. I say customer service and concierge are horrendous and these ways ; and the dirty smirks of them as we wait for our room. If I could of canceled my reservation I would of with the lack of customer service lack of help. I have a very nasty taste for this place and I haven't seen the room yet. Oh well, and if This is deleted by the owner I have screened shot this and attached it to corporate also these people are so unprofessional. It sickens me a lot.

This is a great "Beach hotel". Prompt friendly service. Easy access to stores. And it's right on the beach. Pool is nice. The wait for breakfast was long… but I should have woken up earlier.

We stayed at the Kitty Hawk location over the weekend and had a great stay. The room was nice with close access to the beach. We laid by the pool one afternoon which was nice but the pool could have been a little cleaner but overall it was in good shape. Just some minor fixes to the pool would make it really nice. Overall the place is really nice with a good location to a lot of local places to eat.

We stayed here for and extended Memorial Day weekend. The hotel was clean as were the grounds. The hotel staff were friendly. We had a great time fishing and just hanging out by the fire place. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because the pillows were way too soft. I would stay here again but bring my own pillow.

Great service! Easy to check in, room was spotless each day, we couldn't have asked for a better stay. The only downside was the breakfast was not free like many hotels but Duck donuts is within walking distance which is phenomenal.

Our vacation started out bad right away. *** My dad called them up for a reservation a couple of weeks ago and they said that they will give us breakfast over the phone. Then when we got into the hotel they said we wouldn't get complimentary breakfast and what my dad said was wrong! That is just unfair! Make sure you get what you ordered in writing for that place. Other complaints include, there was crazy construction going on, so you can't even relax in the pool! Also the outside pool is CRAZY Freezing! Don't go in that pool either. The only pool that was decent was in the indoor pool! And then the jacuzzi was really amazing and then it all of sudden decided it wouldn't work at all! The last complaint of this horrible hotel is the fact that they said non smoking! Yea right people were smoking on there own balconies! Do not go to this hotel, if you want a real vacation then you might as well reserve some where else my parents are very upset that they didn't get the vacation they want!

I went for a continuing education class required by my work. The Hilton served us lunch and it was excellent! The staff were quick to serve and very polite! I will definitely eat here again!

The staff is great and did go out of their way to fix any problem I had. The view is beautiful. The sheets in my parents room were not changed. When we tried calling guest service hotline no one answered. I went to the front desk and they were very apologetic and sent Chris up to our room. He also was very apologetic and agreed they were not changed and put new sheets on the bed. The new sheets looked used also but I guess that's as good as it gets. I read a review from 3 months ago from a guest about the sheets and the room and she stated it perfectly. The sheets did not feel fresh, usually sheets are ironed and smell clean. The carpet looked dirty, I wouldn't allow my kids to walk on it without their shoes because it turned their white socks black. The hallway smelled stale and stuffy. I just can't understand why there are no screens on the sliding doors. I opened the door for some fresh air and my room was full of bugs. It was perfect weather to keep the door open at night for some fresh air while I slept. The only thing this Hilton has going for them is their staff and the location. Otherwise not worth the money.

Always stay in the off season in an oceanfront room. We love it. It's so quiet and peaceful. It's definitely a great stay-cation for us.

We booked 2 rooms at this hotel for a local festival that was cancelled suddenly due to inclement weather. Almost $1700 (! ) for two rooms for two nights. (Talk about inflated rates! ) We called to cancel our rooms, only to have the rep cite their non-cancellation policy, so they will not refund nearly $700 of our hard earned money. Now that's what I hospitality, huh? When the festival reschedules, we'll be sure to steer clear of this snooty hotel that robbed us blind. A refund would have been a very nice gesture, because how in the world can I be held financially responsible that it rained? So I guess to quote old Tom Bodett. "We'll leave the light on for ya! " Well please do. I paid for it. ** Update: I called them as they requested in their response to this review, and I gave them the opportunity to explain the "concession" in their response. At first, it was nothing except that I could call and spend even more time trying to persuade the booking website to give us our money back. Of course, that's unacceptable, so I asked the manager to honor a one night stay at no charge next year during the 2016 Outer Banks festival, to which she agreed. So, I can say that they did eventually agree to a satisfactory solution.

After looking at the reviews, I thought it would be a good spur of the moment get away with my husband. We enjoyed the ride from Virginia. The location is great. The view of the fire pit, partial view of the beach, and the employees were nice. However, my husband nor I slept well and it wasn't because of noise. The room and hotel itself was very peaceful. The sheets on the bed did not feel fresh. They were itchy. The pillows were uncomfortable and not fluffy. Although the bathroom was very clean, the towels didn't smell fresh and had a sour smell. The carpet in the room didn't look clean. The hallway smelled stale and stuffy. The money spent was not worth it.

The Hotel is in a great location right of Highway 12. Complete with beach access, a pier, pool and whirpool it is a great place to spend your time here in OBX. Close to Jockey's Ridge, Wright Memorial and Cape Hatteras, there is plenty to do around here.
