Absolutely beautiful and the staff is focus on your well being and making sure you are comfortable. The girl at the front desk was very informative and out going. Nicole is her name.

All of the staff was amazing! We thought there was a pull out couch but there wasn’t. So they brought us up a roll bed and a million pillows, then we found a parking garage to park in but found out that valet with the hotel was cheaper so when we went to go move our car the valet guy said he’d just move it for us so we wouldn’t have to pay a fee, the front desk guy was so friendly and gave us a bunch of places to go eat! We had a great experience.
But our room was hot and we couldn’t get it to go down all night and the lobby smells so bad. Every time we were in the lobby I wanted to throw up.
Besides that we had a great experience!

We were in a pinch trying to find a place for a short trip to MKE and this hotel is such a gem — beautiful, huge suites with excellent service, affordable rates and little details that made a short, busy trip home feel super relaxing. Bathrobes, a beautiful tub and great room service, not to mention a wonderful restaurant and affordable valet parking. Definitely would come back.

I just used the roof top bar. It was very clean and interesting place. Great for small groups of friends to hangout and through a few drinks back. Service was great and would recommend to a friend.

My husband and I stayed in room 200 on June 30 and July 1 for Summerfest. It was an extremely hot weekend, and even though our thermostat was maxed out, the room never got cooler than 75 degrees. We spoke to the front desk and they shrugged it off and said it's like that everywhere. Well, walked into the Pfister next door and it was nice and cool. Guess we should have stayed there. The toilet was also leaking and even though we booked a King bed, we got a Queen. I could forgive all that, but then my husband got the final bill. They charged us $77 in mini bar charged (we didn't touch a thing) and charged us for 2 days of valet parking, even though we only used one day and had told the front desk that we had moved the car to a cheaper lot. When my husband called the front desk, they basically called him a liar! He had to dispute the charges with our credit card company. Never again!

The hotel was really nice even though it was an older building. You can tell that they try to keep up on maintenance and regular refreshing as hard as it is for hotels. My room was very spacious and was of pretty modern decor. It was very clean and tidy as I would expect (I'm detail oriented). The hotel will be renevated next year so I am curious as to how it will improve, from the renderings it looks fantastic! All in all it was a good experience. The staff was friendly and helpful although I wasn't aware of the historical preservation charge, it turns out I just didn't read enough. I stayed here due to a business trip and I would recommend it again.

Really nice downtown classic hotel! We were really pleased to find this gem of a hotel in downtown Milwaukee. The room was huge and a welcome departure from all of the chain hotels on the perimeter of the city. Literally minutes from Miller park. We chose to get breakfast from a coffee shop a block away. Staff was great even though I was wearing Cubs gear! Will most certainly stay here again on our next visit.

We stayed overnight sat into sunday on the 4th floor. The room was plenty spacious. The mini bar was far overstocked. The bed was comfy more like a double then a queen but not an issue. The soaking tub in our bathroom was fantastic to sit in. We had no issues with hearing any of our neighborsb and all the staff were pleasant. I like the NYC 50s kitschy vibe it has. Is it rough around the edges? Yes but not so bad a little basic cosmetic upkeep won't fix. My only sad part was the whirlpool on the rooftop was not working an that was not posted anywhere for guests to be aware of. Will definitely stay here again.

Good hotel with quaint interior. Rides the fine line between old and in disrepair and old and falling apart, but I think it's on the winning side. Staff is very helpful and seemed as if they where always willing to resolve any issues you might have. Elevator could use some help.

Fantastic service from staff and management. Definitely an older hotel with some quirks (water hammer in the pipes), some oddities in the room layout. However great value and would definitely choose it again in the future.

I randomly chose the Metro to spend the night for my birthday, and I was quite delighted! The room was spacious and comfortable, a bit outdated, but I hear the Metro will be getting a complete makeover next year to fix this. The rooftop spa did not have the pool in operation but the sauna and little gym were nice. The view at night from the rooftop was very nice, as seen in the pictures I took. The little French bistro had very nice breakfast, certainly worth checking out after waking up! I hope to stay here again after next year's makeover.

Fairly standard hotel with above average rooms. The service, in general, is average; however, I had a bad experience with the valet and front desk. I valet parked my car and was never informed that my room would be charged for it. This was a problem because I paid the valet in cash when he retrieved my car and he never thought to tell me I was essentially giving him a 100% tip. Not a deal breaker, but also not the kind of service I expect from a hotel that is this expensive.

Nice decor. Great location. Great bathtub and shower. Receptionist not very friendly. She did not even greet us with a hello or smile. Toilet ran all night. Loud at night with nightlife outside. No electrical outlet in the bathroom. Very small and cold exercise room.

Awesome hotel in a fun town. The art-deco theme this hotel born from the bones of the original art deco building is very fun. Curved walls in the rooms make it very interesting and defiantly NOT the cookie cutter rooms of the chain hotels. Very nice restaurant and bar on the street level. Very helpful staff. Valet parking available at a premium price. Not many other parking options.

Not worth the money we spent. Most of the hotel staff were indifferent even rude. We asked for a couple of simple things (never had a problem at any other hotel or motel to get these things) access to a legitimate coffee maker and an extra blanket. They did not inform us of how decrepit the hotel is. Peeling paint, grime, beat up furniture, bathroom floor had huge bumps and gouges (stubbed my toe) poor maintenance all around except in the lobby. Amenities are a joke. Hotel should have told us their work out area would be below 50 degree’s and the hot tub is broke and apparently has been for quite some time. My guess is since Marriott is taking over in the mean time Hotel Metro no longer seems to care. The restaurant and bar staff were very nice no problem there.

Disappointing. Kind of dirty room. Bits and crumbs here and there: on the fridge, in the tub, etc. Also the was water damage and chunks missing of the doorjam in the bathroom. Because of uncleanliness, we didn't feel comfortable using the in-room Jaccuzzi which we paid extra for. The staff is not necessarily personable either.

It was ok. Quaint and retro. My major issue was a banging noise at night that went on for quite some time at nights. Seemed like it was pipes. They were kind enough to call a cab for me, hold my luggage after checkout and a big plus is they take room tips on card.

Greeted by a valet to park our car waited a long time for him to show up. When he did he made my wife take her bags out of the car. He was not friendly at all. The front desk was matter of fact, and and not very friendly. The room was nice and big, but getting dated. There were stains on the end table and stains on the curtains. Bathroom was nice. The thermostat did not work and we could not get the room cooler than 74 degrees (Outside temp was low 40"s). The banging from the radiator kept my wife up all night. Being a downtown hotel we might have thought that the windows would be thick enough to cancel out the street noise from neighboring night clubs, but no. Location is great, but that does not make up for the lack of everything else. For the price I'll stay at the Phister next time. I had heard great things about this place, but I wonder if there was a management change.

My room wasn't ready when I got there, the shower hot water was cold, mini bar very expansive. Overall my stay was peaceful, very quit for a Saturday night.

Great location for access to many restaurants downtown. The pictures of the rooms make the appear nicer than they are. I would likely stay somewhere else if visiting Milwaukee again.

Very nice setting, celebrated my grandparents 50th anniversary here. We were a group of 17 and we booked an amazing private room. The waitress herself was very friendly and nice although she was very fast and it was hard to get her attention. I like the scallops and prawn dish I got myself. I tried my brothers steak though and it was very tough and chewy. Also he asked medium well and it came out as more medium cooked. The chicken though, was probably the worst dish. I tried a little bit and it was very bland. The lemon tart was good but kind of lacking flavor. However, the creme brûlée was out of this world! I did a family brunch here a few years ago also and it was spectacular. Overall a great place and I will be hosting more event in the future. I do recommend.

Hotel Metro was a great weekend getaway! The service was great and the hotel was a great piece of Milwaukee history. There was lots to do within walking distance!

Cool retro theme has it’s charm. Location is convenient to downtown and the riverwalk. However, the room smelled a bit odd and the bathroom floor was dirty. I also had an erroneous incidental charge, which was settled after a few phone calls. Make sure to review your bill at check-out! Good value overall, but i’m not sure I’d stay here again. PS — Keep in mind many of the high reviews come from the restaurant/bar side of the hotel and have affected the overall score which is very misleading.

Hotel Metro is amazing! The cheapest room when we booked was the King Spa, and it was wonderful. The room was clean, spacious, and easy to organize our bags within the closet space provided. We have often eaten at Pastiche, the restaurant on the first floor that provides the room service, and it has consistently been the best food I've ever had. We had a great meal there, then went upstairs to the rooftop bar, which is called Zen on 7. My only complaint from the entire weekend would be the attitude of the bartender when we were ordering. We were celebrating our anniversary and we wanted to order some nice cocktails while we enjoyed the view over the city, and we asked her if she had a cocktail list, and all she said was "No. " She didn't offer any suggestions or even act like she was willing to make us drinks. We thought maybe it was just us, but we saw two other couples receive the same treatment from her. If you're paying that much for drinks, I think you should be able to ask your bartender for suggestions. Other than that, the view over the city was beautiful, and the ambiance of the garden was super romantic. I'd stay there again, I would just make sure you know what kind of cocktail you want to order before you go to the rooftop bar.

I am very pleased with the service, decor and size of my room. I mistakenly booked the wrong date online and the person at the front desk fixed it and got us a new room very quickly. She was very polite and professional. The room as clean, quiet, and very large. I would highly recommend staying here.

Went to the restaurant for dinner. Service was outstanding, food was amazing, and to find a place like this downtown is awesome. For all that you get, prices are super reasonable. No better value in Milwaukee.

Thought this place was upscale. Couldn't check in yesterday for 90min because person on staff didn't know how to check patrons into their room (after not being allowed to check in earlier). Attitude at the front desk needs significant improvement. They are in a SERVICE industry that needs a lesson on how to serve. Hot tub without water, looks unused…

“Best place in Milwaukee to stay! ” Reviewed yesterday NEW Great location so close to Lake Michigan and River Walk, Art Museum and Discovery Place. We used their complimentary cruiser bikes to get around. Our room was a architectural wonder and every aspect beautifully designed, not to mention immaculately clean. I loved the local artist paintings thru out the hotel. We will always stay here on our return trips! Stayed August 2017, traveled as a couple Location excellent! Cleanliness immaculate! Service excellent!

The hotel is located down town in Milwaukee on Mason St. The price of the room was on the expensive side. When you walk in, it has a a modern, historical chić like feel to it. The room was nice with a mini bar and mini refrigerator with a separate area from the room. It had a stand up shower and a deep soak in tub that me and my husband avoided using and took showers instead. The only problems was that the bathroom shower could use a nice scrub on the floor by the draining area and it could use a microwave in the room as well since the room is very pricey. Other than that my husband and I enjoyed ourselves. Oh, and try to avoid using the mini bar if you know what I mean.

If you have the option to choose this hotel against anything else, choose the other option. We were in town for a wedding and stayed in room 501, a jacuzzi suite, the room smelled horrible, unable to open any windows (because it's "historic", aka, the windows were locked in by another pane of glass) and we asked to be moved. We were moved to a different room, thankfully it didn't smell like a truck stop bathroom like the previous room. When we checked out we were told a manager would call us on Monday to discuss our stay. After not being called, I finally called them and left numerous messages with the front desk, Roman the GM, Natasha the manager, still nothing but an email saying they can't do anything for us. The total for the evening was upwards of $350 that night between the room, valet, dinner and breakfast at their restaurant and taxes, and we can't even get a call back from the manager. Not only was the room a one star but the customer service is a negative five stars. I honestly can't remember a more horrible experience and to pay that kind of money and not even get a courtesy call back, is the most disappointing of it all. If you choose to stay there, enter at your risk, but don't be surprised if you come away disappointed. The only bright spot of the entire experience was Ryan, the valet who was nice, helpful and overall, represented the customer service you would expect from a place that charges that much per night.

Went in for breakfast on Sunday. There were a few people finishing up their meals as I sat. Took 15 minutes to get a water. Placed order as soon as I got that. Took way too long for a 2 egg meal. Came out cold. Waiter never came back to check on me. I had to search out another waiter to get me a box thwn had to wait to get my bill. Terrible service. Other waiter explained it away by mentioning the party that arrived AFTER I place my order. My meal should have been made by that point. Oh wait, maybe it was and it sat there forever & that's why it was cold. I notice no one ever responds to these reviews, good or bad.

Pros: cleanliness, jacuzzi was amazing, fireplace, bed is comfortable, friendly and accommodating staff, location is great cons: the sink in the room had extremely poor drainage, the drinks at the bar were a little too strong, our room only had decaf coffee available. we went for my boyfriends birthday and we really enjoyed ourselves.

It's a great hotel! Located in downtown Milwaukee and close to all the action. Walking distance from River walk and neighbors the Pfsiter Hotel. Suite we stayed in was wonderful! Comfortable and not over the top with a great hot tub and separate shower. The staff was accommodating and respectful. Sleep like a baby and didn't wake once! A definite repeat trip.

Fantastic service. We go every year and after multiple downtown hotel stays, choose this over any other in Milwaukee. Classic building, classic service, great value. 5/5 every time we go.

The service and restaurant itself was great. Very fancy and welcoming. The food however was just so so. It wasn't bad but was not worth the price. That being said the appetizers and deserts were delicious.

Used to be good but has gone down. No more big menu for $5 martinis. Decent hotel bar and food but don't expect more.

Spacious rooms, dog friendly, and the location is perfect. The bikes are a great perk to staying at the Metro. The roof top garden is gorgeous and the staff is accommodating and friendly. A lovely place to stay in Milwaukee.

My Fiance and I checked in on a Friday night, the staff was very nice. The Valet parking is about 30 dollars. There is a parking ramp next to the hotel but for a different hotel and when that one is well booked, they won't allow anyone to park in there. When we checked in, we were upgraded to a Deluxe Suite at no extra charge, the room was gorgeous. We took advantage of the whirlpool tub in our room and we were glad we had a shower as well to rinse off in. I loved the free Avada samples we received in our suite. We both had the Beer Battered Cod for dinner with $5 martinis. Very delicious! It was on the expensive side, but well worth it! The wait wasn't long for our food and we were seated as soon as we walked in. It sucks that there wasn't a pool, just a small hot tub for everyone staying there to use, unless there is a private party booking the seventh floor (Zen on Seven), which there was when we were there. It also sucks that the breakfast isn't included in your stay, you have to pay for it, and it's expensive for breakfast foods. There was also a small workout area that we took advantage of. I liked the late check out time of noon. It was a very nice and clean hotel with appealing architecture.

Only stayed one night but the hotel has a funky Art Deco design and is in a good location. Lots of good restaurants in the area. Go eat at zarletti across the street.

What a terrible experience. Jasmine at the front desk decided to ignore the line of folks trying to check-in. At 3:00 the room was not ready and she said "It's house keeping, nothing I can do about it". We waited 20 minutes and when we asked for an update she threw one hand on her hip and the other up in our face. Once the executive suite was ready we looked at it. Carpeting had worn tracks, cabinet doors not aligned, shower had dark mold. Very disgusting. Went downstairs and asked for the manager who was not there. Got her business card and made two phone calls to her cell phone. No return call even after 1 week. At $300 a night, do yourself a favor and go next door to the Pfister hotel. Better room and the staff will treat you like royalty.

Boutique hotel, best hotel I've ever stayed at. Loved everything about it. I go there every year for work. Don't pay attention to the bad reviews. Best in Milwaukee, in the center, close to everything.

If I could give it a negative number, it couldn't be negative enough. Don't bother going to the bar for a refill on your cup of coffee and taking a book of complimentary matches, lest the completely inept restaurant manager calls the police and accuses your boyfriend of stealing non-existent money from an empty bar. He called me a liar and my boyfriend a thief, (the matches are FREE! — hence the word COMPLIMENTARY) A very large and abusive cop tossed him in the back of his squad car. After 30 minutes of public humiliation and abuse, (caused by the restaurant manager), they must have finally decided to actually WATCH the said surveillance video. Instead of admitting to their "mistake" and apologizing like a proper human they just said, "Oh drop it. " They made me pay for the full price of our room. NO apology! Had they apologized and admitted their error I would not be writing this review. As a result of the undeserved, unnecessary, and unwarranted emotional distress a lovely vacation was ruined. I would like to give a personal "thank you" to the restaurant manager of the Hotel Metro. Get some glasses.

I actually got this hotel through hotwire and loved it. Definitely on the pricey side, but it was nice to have the restaurant attached with room service available. I'd definitely stay again with a discount of course.
