Perfect location, Comfortable clean room and we were 3 in one, super good bathroom and hot water all the time. The very friendly reception staff whenever we had doubts about somewhere helped us and the cleaning staff of the cool room whenever we arrived everything a day. They gave me extra coffee for the evening. The only thing I recommend is a small fridge in the room or a microwave. People don't get carried away by the negative things they can express, I was personally scared after the reservation, by the negative comments I was reading. Remember. What for me is positive experience does not necessarily have to be for you. I next visit to New York I return to stay at Hotel Mela.

Hotel is nice but basic. Rooms small but ok for myself and my sister since we were hardly in the room. Room could do with a bit of an update furniture is a worn and tired lookihg. Bathroom was lovely! Only downside is that they dont hold baggage and we could only get checkout extended to 1pm and we werent leaving for the airpory til nearly 5 so left us trailing our bags with us!

I stayed here for a week the rooms are small, the room was dirty especially the carpet on the floor. I spoke to reception and got to move rooms but that wasn't any better. Reception where very rude to myself and my sister in law we have lodged a complaint with our travel agent. Rated a 4star hotel but I wouldn't give it 1star,. I took photos and sent them on to our travel agent.

We were looking forward to our stay at Hotel Mela for my wife’s birthday. We booked almost a year in advance and got a great rate through a booking site. We had reservations for 12/9-12/13 2021. On 12/6/21, hotel Mela CANCELLED our reservation. In addition, in the days leading up to our vacation, I had a question and tried to call. The phone was never answered. They left us scrambling for accommodations which, due to the last minute timing, cost us a small fortune. Do not trust hotel mela!

This is the WORST hotel I’ve ever stayed in my life. $175.00 + plus charge per night, DIRTY. No blankets… yes you heard that right they didn’t provide even that. The rooms smell like guests smoke. Dirty smelly carpet. No phone on the rooms. Do not book your stay here!

Hotel very central rooms very small. Spoke with reception and arranged an upgrade for an extra charge. So no issues staff friendly and rooms very clean.

Love the Mela Hotel! I've stayed at other hotels in NYC and my last 3 visits I've stayed at the Mela. The price is good, rooms are clean and they are so quiet. I never hear my neighbors which is the main reason I stay here. I also love that the have a real door to the bathroom. Many hotels in NYC have thin sliding doors. I am always happy staying at The Mela. I will be staying here on my next trip.

The staff here is incredibly sweet!

Member of staff on reception needs to learn some customer service, no greeting whatsoever, never looked at me, but asked four times in quick succession for my credit card whilst I was trying to retrieve it from my purse.
Cleaning staff, however, were lovely. Rooms clean but very cramped.

Everything we asked the staff for they was able to accomadate great place cleaners seem to know as soon as you leave and even if you gone 10 mins you get back they will have already done your room replaced towels etc.

Great service in a hotel which is in the heart of Manhattan. Exeactely as described. Quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Excelent restaurant next door for a good breakfast and if you want tot all other meals as well. Lot’s of theaters in walking distence from the hotel. Recommend it whole heartedly.

Not any services, except free coffee in the morning. Convenient location with many restaurants within steps. Nice staff and comfortable beds. Very small bathrooms… truly a boutique, and petite hotel.

Location is perfect as its 2minutes walk from times square.
Friendly staff Only issue is they deduct whatever they feel like from my credit card. They charged me my resort fee but are charging me an extra amount of $353 that they are answering me what's it's for and are ignoring my emails. It's been more than a week and it's still not refunded, its frustrating.

A lovely hotel with helpful, friendly staff. Rooms spacious, quiet and clean. Well placed, next to Times Square. Free apples and coffee in foyer. Alex, a very helpful member of staff, went over and above his duty to make our days run smoothly, especially when he ran down the road in the pouring rain to hail us a cab.

I stayed here with my friend in November 2018. The staff were fantastic, beds were comfy and rooms were a good size. Xmas decorations were all put up and it looked lovely.
So close to Times Square too.
The staff even gave us a little pressy for celebrating my friends birthday.
Thanks Hotel Mela. We would both happily stay again and our time went far too quickly.

Just back from 4 nights at the Hotel Mela, very friendly staff and the hotel is very clean. Can highly recommend this hotel, which is ideally located 2 mins from times square.

Beautiful views of a brick wall, terrible customer service and they like to charge a little extra after everything was already paid off. Stay at the Hyatt Centric if you want to spend the night in the city.

Great hotel! Very nice to stay in NYC while having fun in the city. It's literally near dozens and dozens of restaurants, shows, broadways, and Times Square. Price was fair. The staff were all great and extremely helpful. Let us check in early! Great service. If in a pinch you can leave your bags there even if you've checked out. Makes it easier on the day you leave. I would 100% recommend and stay here again. Thanks!

Just returned form NYC stayed at the hotel with my family of four. Great location great staff and hotel Barbara was great on reception she very knowledgeable on NYC helpful thank you. They store your bags on early arrivals and again on on late departure and phone you when when your rooms are available early. I had family how had to leave early the hotel only charged for the nights stayed and refunded the rest that was very helpful thank you Rose li Tom was great too thank you.

Loved this hotel! The location is perfect if you want to be close to the theaters and who doesn’t? The rooms are small but this is New York City, you shouldn’t be in your room anyway! The staff was so helpful and nice, going above and beyond. My only complaint would be the shower, it has a weird glass partition instead of a curtain but I’d still stay here again! The hotel had a nice air condition and the staff was nice. HOWEVER, on top of “resort fees” and other nightly fees, I was charged a random 150.00 and another 53.00 for “incremental, ” which is for an amenity. I did not use any amenities. There are no amenities! When I tried calling to ask someone about it, NO ONE is “privy” to the billing information, not even the billing office. So for the price, I could have stayed in a much nicer hotel.

We had a very nice stay here a couple of years ago. The hotel is simple. Our room was fairly small and the window faced a brick wall, but it was an easy place to rest at nigh. I'm not sure if I would recommend staying this close to Times Square unless it's your first time visiting NYC. If it's a second or third time visiting, maybe find a cooler spot elsewhere in the city. Times Square can get old fast when you're just trying to get to your hotel.

I'm surprised that something described as a "luxury hotel" allows smoking in the rooms — — you could tell our neighbors were smoking and it came through the vents into our room making the whole place smell of cigarettes (especially strong in the bathroom). Other than that, it served it's purpose fine and you can't beat the location — — right in the heart of Times Square. I think that's the best possible description of this place. It was fine. It didn't blow my hair back, but it also didn't make me upset enough to complain or ruin the trip. It was just fine.

This hotel was the perfect location, had friendly staff, and was very clean! I'd stay here again hands down! I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a convenient location and a quiet place right in the heart of the city. We didn't even hear any street traffic and it is located right near Times Square! The beds were comfortable, too!

Ideally located at 200 meters from Timesquare, the Mela hotel provides the essentials for those looking for a night rest stopover after a great walk through NewYork. If you look for more premium or luxurious, there is of course a better offer but as said above, it ensures the essentials…

Positive: — Great location — Comfortable room Negative: — Facility fee too high and should be included on the room's price — Old building and rooms (walls need some painting, windows doesn't block any noise from the street, small and slow elevators) — The waiting area in front of the elevators was always crowded In general I got disappointed with the hotel. For the price and pictures I expected more. On the check out, I suggested that they should include the facility fee on the room price, the employee was sarcastic saying that I should give the suggestion to the third company which I used for the booking. PS: Everyday there was someone checking out an complaining about this fee because they didn't know, or they didn't notice or they didn't agree. I wouldn't recommend the hotel. For the price you can find better options also in a good location.

Wonderful location but very small. I get the price of real estate in NY but yikes, walking and turn around space only. It was beautifully decorated and glass, sexy shower. It didn't hold back water and we soaked the bathroom floor with every shower.

Just returned from a 6 night stay. The hotel was nice enough, room was small but has everything we needed just to sleep. The room and bathroom where cleaned daily with no issues. Nice a central location with some good local bars. HOWEVER our stay was somewhat over shadowed by the additional $34 per night charge for "services" when I questioned it I was told it was a standard tax applied by all NYC hotels, speaking to locals this a lie and is just a way for the hotel to squeeze more cash from you for nothing which is really disappointing and would ensure I never recommend or stay here again.

Very central Hotel and very comfortable bed… the room however small and lacks bushy curtains, thus entering all the light from the outside.

My son and I went to NYC for 2 days out of an 8 day trip — wanted to keep costs down, so I looked around at all the options, including hostels. Ended up going to a travel agent (Admiral Travel, LA) who got us a room at Mela for less than some of the hostels available. The room was small, but clean, quiet and very nice. The staff was helpful, professional and Barbara gave me some great ideas for fun places to eat. It's also right off Times Square, so very central for getting around. If I go back to NYC, this is where I'll stay.

At the reception I gave my passport when checking in. I didn't get it back and I realized it until the next day. When I went to ask about my passport, it never appeared. They told me I lost it. I had to go to the consulate to replace my passport. I lost time and money. The hotel rooms are very expensive. Under the bed there were forgotten clothes from the previous guest.

The staff here is fantastic! The management staff is helpful and always willing to make you're stay the most pleasant experience possible. Being in the heart of NYC, this hotel is right around the corner from everything you want to experience. Very clean, comfy and my favorite place to stay when I just don't want to drive home from a long fun night out. And for out of towners… This is the real NYC! The rooms aren't super bug l, but the home like feeling at Mela will want you want to stay an extra day or two.

You can come or restore in this charming little bistro with a typical French style… you will be greeted warmly and you will enjoy excellent small dishes perfectly cooked and seasoned.

Amazing value, very clean, Time Square — I really liked this hotel but I would not try and put 3 people in a room there. The hotel appears like it was renovated pretty recently. Very modern but small rooms.

Good location by Times Square, lovely staff, very clean. Cute interior design. My only qualm is that upon check in I was notified I'd be charged a higher rate than I was quoted at booking. Next time I will fight it, but as far as the experience it was lovely. 10/10 comfy bed and big shampoo/conditioner bottles.

We needed a place to stay for one night since we were in town for a show at The Town Hall. This place is in a great spot. It happens to be literally on the other side of the block from the theater. Walk out and turn left, and Times Square is right there. Saju Bistro is next door, and is the origin of room service meals. We did not order room service but did have breakfast on the morning we left; very cute little cafe. For one night, we paid just under $200, after taxes and fees. (Look for AAA discount rates when you book! I'd forgotten to) But for the money, and having easy access to such a part of the city, we were very comfortable and to us it was worth the price. The room was small, but, this is New York. Older buildings tend to have smaller hallways, elevators, bathrooms, etc. That's just how it can be, so no complaints there. The room was clean, and the staff was very attentive and welcoming. I wouldn't mind staying here again, given the opportunity.

Excellent hotel. The heating. The shower, the Muycomoda bed. The cleaning. The small room. But it's for sleeping. The 408, has no Street View.

To call it luxury seems excessive, but as a hotel is in a great location, 3 minutes from Timesquare, 15 from the top of the rock. On foot.

First, I want to take the time to discuss Hotel Mela’s accessibly for wheelchair users. From check in to check out, the staff was very attentive and responsive to what I needed. My room was wheelchair accessible w a nice roll in shower. The bed was so comfortable I slept fantastic! My only suggestion here would be to remove the ottaman at the foot of the bed. It clogs the room and makes it difficult to move about the room. Although it looks nice, it’s a bit impractical and the room would still be beautiful with out it. There are three elevators and only one is accessible. Make sure to ask the front desk for that elevator to be released for use when you need it. The housekeeping staff often locks it out for their use so they can get their equipment from floor to floor to quickly service rooms. It’s a quick and easy request and I wasn’t ever waiting long. The accessible front door can be a bit finicky. Press the button for it to open and be sure you aren’t near it. For safety reasons of course, it won’t open. The entry way is on a slope so, stand back, hit the button and roll up and in. Good to go. In my experience, accessibility seems to be an afterthought in NYC but Hotel Mela seems to have done the best they could. Thank you! Room service is pricey of course — but worth every single dollar! Would I stay here again? Without a doubt. Everything was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping is prompt, efficient and does a fantastic job! I really can’t sing enough praises.

Great location from many sites in NYC. Just a block from Times Square. Very quiet… large room. They offered coffee, but not always ready throughout the day.

Resort? No! But they charge you a resort fee. Nice rooms however. I challenge them to find me the resort that they charge you for.

They should not take extra charge for the Wi-Fi. Does not work properly.

Cramped and outdated rooms, sheets that don't cover even the mattress, horrible pillows, very small closet and broken curtains. It is not known if it is day or night because the rooms that we touched give to a horrible internal vent. Staff's attention is regular, except for one exception, they are not at all coordiales. The cleanliness is very regular. Not a 4 star hotel, they don't even put water bottles and they don't have a minibar. Besides, we were charged, we never did! I loaded several times the horrible images I took, but they don't load!

The best thing about the hotel is its location. The rooms are nice, cozy but somewhat small. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommended.

We stayed in the Queen room which was quite small and the air conditioning was loud, but the bathroom was clean and well equipped. The rooms were cleaned daily to a high standard. The location is excellent for visitors. It's literally round the corner from times Square and therefore central to most of New York's land marks and attractions. We walked to most of the places we visited, we only took the cab to the 9/11 memorial. Great stay in all.

4-Day and 4-night stay. Hotel in great location. The room is spacious and comfortable. A kettle available for hot drinks. Towels with daily change and bath foam, shampoo, aftershave and even the body cream quality available daily replaced.
It was very clean and the staff were very friendly.
I recommend it to anyone looking for information.

Excellent location in the heart of Times Square, the rooms are very comfortable and nice. How much with gym and its staff is very friendly.

It's a great location close to Times Square. Only used it for one night so can't comment on room/maid service. I would have preferred to not be hit with a "mandatory fee" upon the arrival, which, supposedly was disclosed to me during the booking process. As in, there might be fees, but we won't tell you how much, however, you will have no choice but to pay them. It's a marketing ploy which makes it look like you are getting a room cheaper than the other hotels in the area, but, you know, not really.

This place is a great find. The rooms are small, but WHO goes to New York City to hang out in their room the whole time? It is a stones throw from Times Square. Our room was clean and very satisfactory. We’ll be back again for another trip soon.

The only good thing about the hotel is the Ubibcación which is excellent. To be a 4 star, it leaves a lot to be desired: small rooms and little clean. It is not at all expected for a 4 star.

The location was walking distance to BB King's in Times Square which was perfect. Though I just visited a friend, his room looked great and the staff were courteous and professional. Highly recommended if you need a place to stay near Times Square.

Very good location, good size rooms for NYC standards, rooms are clean and in decent conditions but not great. The elevators are terrible, old small and at some times guests can use only 2 of the 4. This is a very old building that probably has gone through several renovations. In general it is a good hotel based on the cost/value ratio, but like with many other hotels in NYC, for what you pay here you would get something much better in other cities. I would return if I find a discounted rate.

Rooms are VERY small but they are nice and clean. Most of the staff had terrible attitudes so that gives this hotel — 3 stars amongst other reasons. Amenities are non existent, the lobby restroom is located in the “gym” on the second floor which is basically a mirrored room with some dumbbells. (business center is a computer outside the gym) Great AC however so no concern of sweating while you sleep! And the location is PERFECT! Check it out if you want a decently priced place to stay with nice rooms (once upgraded to the “Preferred Rooms”) but don’t expect much out of the staff or facility.

To be a 4-star let it be desired.

The hotel stands few blocks from the Times Square. What more can you ask for.? The staff is courteous, the rooms are neat and clean. They care about your needs, and not too expensive too.! (Considering the location) You can drop your luggage on the receptions after checkout if you want to roam around few hours before leaving for your flight.

I placed a bid on Priceline and got Hotel Mela. I was not sure what to expect since I had never been to New York. We were so impressed by this hotel not only due to the amazing location, the cleanliness of the hotel, but also the amazing customer service. The staff, including their manager Nick went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful and memorable trip. Not only will I return to this hotel in the future, but I have also recommended to family and friends to stay here when they visit. Hotel Mela, Thank you for the amazing hospitality.

Extremely convenient Hotel in the packed center of New York, a stone's throw from Times Square. Clean with nice rooms. Staff in reception really friendly.

The hotel is very well located (50m from Time Square). The proposed service is exactly what we expect. The only downside is the soundproofing which is not excellent but it is done quickly especially on the 9th floor. To finish the Wi-Fi is not excellent. A good hotel for a short week in New York.

Location practically a 1 minute walk from Time Square! Rooms not too small! The second they gave us was very spacious! We had the Delux superior!

Hotel in great location: It is a stone's throw from Times Square (so served well by public transport). Nice also the fact of being very close to the studios where we record "Good Morning America". If you are lucky you can see up close some Hollywood stars! The staff at the hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. The room I was given was not very big and looked on the inside but, given the price paid, I would say you can't complain. Cleanliness of the room good. The room was equipped with TV and air conditioning. Wanting to find a fault I would say that the air conditioner made a little noise but only at the time it turned off. Overall, however, I would recommend it.

Very nice little hotel in the heart of the city. 1/2 block from Times Square. Very convenient. Free Apples in the lobby, Mela means apple. Staff very friendly and helpful. Go ahead and get the valet parking deal, it is cheaper than doing it yourself, even though the Parking garage is next door. Room was big enough for 2 and bathroom wa excellent. 4.5 stars.

Some rooms noisy cause of breakdowns, better change rooms in this case here… Staff was very helpful.
A problem with the tv, more channels of the cable (ESPN, ABC, FX…) : blackout but very quickly resolved!
A good bathroom with shower and what it takes. The only problem of the rooms: the ground is carpet!
A deplorable Wi-Fi service in the rooms, better go to the ground floor (Lobby) for good capture.
A cockroach found in the elevator: just unacceptable for a "4 star" hotel, I questioned hygiene in the facility.

There was free Wi-Fi, the bed was comfy, and everything was clean. Most importantly, the hotel was located, right near Times Square and a few major subway lines. The only negatives were the shower temperature fluctuating and housekeeping coming by at 10am, despite the do not disturb sign.

The best affordable hotel in the heart of times square! Small elevator and simple amenities — (we don't even have cable in our room) We got a small room with a bad view but the bathroom was big (our curtains don't close : () The staff is friendly and approachable DO NOT TOUCH THE MINIBAR YOUR CARD WILL BE CHARGED EVEN IF YOU TAKE NOTHING free tee and coffee but no free water bottles : ( I would say you get what you pay for.

Great friendly staff. Checked the bed before we sat down and everything was spotless. The room and elevators are small but for being so close to Times Square was worth it. Who goes to NYC to sit in a hotel anyways? The only downside of our room was that the heater in our bathroom was broken. I know if we told the front office about it during our visit, they would switch us out to another room, but we liked our view. Plus it was around 2 in the morning when we found out anyways, so we didn't feel like doing anything besides sleeping. What really got my was the mini bar in each room. I really wonder who would pay 10.00 or more for a water bottle? It would have been nice if they had a curtesy mini fridge inside the room instead of a mini fridge stocked with with sensors that charges you $ if you move a sprite soda. The staff were all polite and helpful. They held our bags after check out for the rest of the day as my girlfriend and I continued to explore NYC. Overall I had a pleasant experience and I would stay there again.

First off the location of this hotel doesn't get any better. I gave it 5 stars because of several reasons. Now when I booked here it was 3rd party who reserved & she accidentally gave me government rates. So she called back & apologized & gave me a even lower rate I thought ok great she said ill get cancellation email & a new one for new rate next morn no email called the hotel they said that rate was unheard of and she messed up SO WHAT THIS GREAT HOTEL DID WAS STILL GIVE ME THE GOVERNMENT RATE THEY FIGURE ITS NOT MY FAULT A 3RD PARTY MESSED UP now check in isn't until 3pm well me and my wife arrived at 5:40am to beat barricades for new years eve so when we got to the hotel they let us check in 9hrs early. I'll say within 30 steps your directly in the middle of times square. The staff was great at 1 point they even pressed elevator button for you and had great small talk making sure your enjoying your self. Great restaurants in the area also.

Edwin's customer service made this hotel outstanding! I had to leave the hotel at 4 in the morning to catch my flight. I called the front desk to arrange an early wake up call. Edwin told me he could arrange transportation via car service to the airport which definitely alleviated some of the stress I was feeling from having to be at the airport early. This morning, Edwin made sure I was awake, and my transportation was waiting on me when I got downstairs. Thanks for your hospitality!

Just arrived reserved us a room with a single bed when nor us had warned. We had to make the change and I fix.

Hotel is located in the middle of NYC who never was, for this is a top destination. Who offters to appreciate also knows the different quarters, there is and must be in the middle of the cake.
All in all a nice hotel.

Beautiful hotel with an absolute age of informants for NY. In less than 1 minute walk, it is middle of time square. The lobby, rooms, etc are not very large, for this, the people are friendly, all clean and in the bistro next to it there is a great breakfast. Conclusion: to recommend who must have no room in XXL format at any time.

But no way is something to the food to make.
