Very good hotel. The quietest thing in a crowded area 3 blocks from Time Square. The bed was very comfortable and the bed was comfortable. We stayed 5 days and we don't have a negative observation. On the contrary.

The bare minimum small European budget hotel in the heart of the bustling Times Square New York Theatre District. Absolutely NO frills! Tiny, But clean room, comfortable bed & a staff, led by Beatrix, stellar. VERY fair, inXpensive actually, rates for Location, Location, Location. Will b a return guest…

Absolutely the the hotel we have stayed in NYC the classic new York style and fantastic staff they were the nicest. Our visit was for my daughters 7th birthday and they all called her princess and wished her a very happy birthday. We plan on staying there again when we return. Everything was so easy to get to from the Mayfair.

I respect hard working people and business owners and try my best not to give bad rating as affects jobs. But this place should get zero or minus stars. I have not seen such a bad hotel in third world countries. Broken furniture, bed bugs, hair in bed, rust on ironing board, clogged toilet. Don't stay here even if it's free. They have sealed the mattress so you can see the bed bugs. But will certainly find next morning.

Elevator was broken the entire time. Room keys never worked. The bathroom was very dirty. The floor smells like mildew gas and mold. Dirty grimy carpets in the room itself. The wallpaper is peeling off in the room. The ceiling is very dirty. The television was cutting in and out. Also the staff went into our room after requested that they do not.

Old Hotel near Time Square, I think it has never been renovated since they built it. Very small Rooms but in the end it is a good compromise for the convenience to all The amenities and attractions. Close to two theatres with musical performances every night, close to the Metro stop and a 5 minute walk you're in the heart of the Time Square button.

As visiting for a 21st birthday present for my girlfriend, the hotel was in prime location. However, upon arrival there were extra charges and the overall decor of the hotel was dated, a little worn with things breaking and dark. The double room itself was extremely hot with a dirty air conditioning unit that made my partner ill, not much space, but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The hotel was of average standard, a little dingy but you get what you pay for. The only reason to revisit would be due to fabulous location and cheap prices.

Quaint and historic, The Mayfair is not a hotel for those expecting a glamorous, ritzy experience. It’s like an old world European apartment building, cozy and friendly. I felt like I was nestled in a Parisian attic. The location is prime for restaurants and theater-goers. The rooms are small but comfortable. On the negative side, the decor is a bit shabby and could use an upgrade. I also killed a roach in the bathroom, but that’s New York for you.

It was a comfy place to sleep, bed and bathroom were clean, and it's walking distance to Time Square and Hell's Kitchen. Room was small with a full sized bed. The a/c worked thank goodness but it was loud. I think the only reason I slept through the noise was because I was drunk. Sitting on the toilet and the wall touches the front of my knees — and I'm only 5 feet tall. The shower door didn't close unless you lift the door up because it's little crooked. The carpets in the entire place is dated, very worn and some spots torn from so much foot traffic.

Only one (small) elevator. Very dated property with older uncomfortable beds/bedding. It will do in a pinch but for an extra $30 a night you should be able to find a place with reasonable amounts more of comfort.

Tiny rooms, really outdated furnishings and decorations, has a kind of creepy-oldy vibe that can contribute to a sense of claustrophobia and like you just might be in a haunted house, or a horror film… that takes place in a haunted house. If you're accustomed to staying even at middle-tier chain hotels like the Hampton Inn, you'll be unpleasantly surprised. And yet, despite all this, the bed is really comfortable, the pillows are great, and the shower is decent. They have free Wi-Fi, and staff is friendly and seemingly attentive. You could surely do worse.

The location was absolutely good. If you want a super clean and nice hotel, this would not be right one for you as it is an old hotel. The room I stayed was small and our room did not have any view and the window didn't open. The restroom is also too small for my husband but for me it was okay. And the restroom door wasnt closed completely. However, we spent most of our time here outside so the issues above didn't matter that much. We rather enjoyed the location very much! The room was also cleaned well everyday and the staffs were friendly. I would recommend this hotel if you are looking for an affordable hotel in a good location.

I was very disappointed when my husband left a tip for the staff and he give it to one to give in and the ataff took it upon themselves to have a conversation about us in front of us saying how tude we was that we didn't tip them all when the money was to be split between them all… I wouldn't recommend or visit again!

Tinest room I’ve ever been in. Wow. I know NYC hotel rooms are small but this takes the cake. One foot around the bed and that’s it… If you’re staying multiple night this will be very cramped. There was a hole in our bathroom ceiling, missing tile, dirty shower. Long black hair on our bed sheet. The decor is creepy. Beds are comfy and staff was okay but I would definitely spend the extra $30-$50 to stay someplace nicer if you’re planning multiple nights. Disappointing for such a good location to all the touristy things in midtown. Expected a lot more. Do yourself a favor and get out the the midtown congestion and stay downtown or uptown.

BUT be careful: the reception guys are helpful and friendly… but… We asked them to help us with Transport to JFK and they totally told us the wrong price and Charged us too much money in cash. The driver from the airlink transport told us that we have to pay again.

Not very upscale. Location is prime next to Times Square. Rooms are small, but clean and sufficiently furnished. Bathrooms are clean, although water pressure in the shower was very low. Service was very prompt and friendly. Definitely recommend as a great option for saving a little money over other area hotels for a trip to Manhattan, but if money is no object there will definitely be nicer, more modern options.

Great location, really liked the attached restaurant/bar, and check in/out went smoothly. Rooms are quite small but good value and the A/C worked fine. Decent bed and pillows but no real view, not expected though. Rooms had "modern" faucets that are the most wasteful fixtures I have ever seen, they probably use 10x the amount of water necessary especially with no aerator.

The service counter lady was very rude. Made us wait until exactly 3 pm to let us check-in even though we saw her "checking to see if the room was ready" for other groups. Upon checkout, there was an extra surcharge that was not explained to us when we checked in. The place is very outdated. The restaurant connected is rated a B by the board of health which made us wonder how clean our room truly was. We had stains on our sheets and our blinds in the bathroom were broken. Overall, very outdated and needs renovation badly.

This hotel served its purpose. We loved that it is in the middle of the Time Square. We walked there every day and enjoyed the location. It is also near subway station. The hotel is gloomy. The rooms were so small. We are from Texas and are used to big things (at least space to walk). The hotel needs TLC big time! With updates: some dusting/polishing, new carpet, bright lights, it would be an awesome spot to crash. Oh and a new elevator (it was so slow). It's a good thing you are only in the hotel to sleep.
