I asked for clean towels before I left for the day and returned at night and NONE were brought to my room. The bed which was a twin bed was a mattress on a long table. The room itself is smaller than the room under my porch and the bathroom is no bigger than a bread box. No vending machines, no nothing. No I don't recommend this hotel. It's the worst i've ever been in.

Noisy small no screens on windows. See through shower curtains. Telephones are bugged. Elevators don't work.

Excellent service and unbeatable location, good neighborhood.

Clean room, full-size bathroom including tub, queen size bed, a bit on the firmer side but we liked it. Friendly front desk staff and conceierge. The elevator was small and 'old' but (knick wood) we never had an issue with it. Noise level is a bit high — bring earplugs.

Pleasant staff. Quiet room from passing travelers and cars. A good 4 star. Good location. (shame through night there is a constant loid squeal and humming from an air-conditioning unit or something outside room 677). Ruined my sleep. Requested a bath but noone got back to us. That's a shame.

The room was not anything like the pictures the staff were lovely but the room we were given on the 5th floor was more like staff living area very disappointed as it was our honeymoon.

I always stay in Washington Jefferson Hotel everytime I visit New York. Hotel staff are all nice, friendly and accommodating. The room is well maintained and the location is super good!

Convenient location direct walk to rockerfella centre park and Times Square, staff lovely, helpful and friendly, no breakfast area which is a downside but lots of things within walking distance. Cleaned immaculately daily, and comfortable,

Great location & clean rooms. Lobby staff were friendly enough. We did have a few issues with our room though, firstly the toilet door locking itself resulting in us having to wait for maintenance to come and unlock it & secondly the bathroom flooding. We were upgraded to a room with a queen bed which was nice. For the price having breakfast included would make it a lot more appealing to go back.

At almost $200 a night, I think breakfast should be included or at least be given as an option, but there is no breakfast room, so I think a kettle and tea/coffee should be in every room, but there wasn't any. There was also no mini fridge and that would have been helpful. The fixtures of the bathroom were old and the tap in the sink was not even attached to the sink. The room was also very dark and not well sound proof, but the bed was comfy. The TV was really small.

The hotel's rez agent worked with me for almost an hour to find accommodations in my price range. Super cute tiny twin bed room! Just the perfect size for one person. Really nice toiletries, nicely appointed amenities, recently renovated and great contemporary decor. Staff is quick to respond and extremely helpful. Sadly, the actual mattress in the twin suite is really uncomfortable, more like a dorm room bed than a hotel quality mattress.

Good tapas and good price. With the bar not being at the foot of the street, there are fewer tourists and you live more American style. There's a bull in the middle of the bar, where guests are getting on and it's fun to watch. In addition, live music that accompanies great dinner. Service attentive and fast.

Awesome hotel as always. Stayed here quite a few times over the last 10 years. Always a great stay. Very good location for getting around the whole of NYC.

This is an older hotel that has had a few face lifts over the years. I'm a contractor, so am very critical of work and it was done by average trades people, so if you don't mind a little less than average, you'll be OK, but if you are looking for Trump Towers, this ain't the place. It is in a good section of Manhattan with lots of shopping/restaurants on 9th, 8th, and 51st and you are walking distance to all major shows, Central Park, museums, etc. If you can ask for an upgrade to a suite, it is worth it, but don't expect a suite at the Trump Towers!

The view was trash. The bathroom was super small. The bathroom door didn't lock and I was with someone else. There was white stuff on the shower walls. There was "special" packages for the tv.

+ friendly staff, comfortable bed, 8 out of 10 for cleanliness, great location. — neighbourhood was very noisy and windows where shut but sounded like they were open. No tea or coffee facilities in room. Tea and coffee available down stairs 7am to 9am but only on Monday to Friday! Not on a weekend seems a bit mean with the price of the hotel. Small room very small bathroom. = overall what we expected and we were happy.

Good location, hotel a bit dated but pleasant enough to sleep there, as you are out most of the time.

If you want to try some excellent American style wings this is the place. Good traditional sports bar. Beer and traditional dishes of good quality. Recommended.

Decent location, Tiny room (we had a standard queen). Ok for a weekend but not for 2 adults with big cases. No coffee facilities in the room or at weekends in reception. Staff were nice and room was clean but just too small to recommend.

Location is great for my travel purposes and subway lines are nearby. Front desk staff has been extremely helpful and friendly, check-in was quick and easy. Room was clean, but as other reviewers said, our queen room was quite small (not really a big deal to us). Toiletries are nice! Our biggest issue was something that the hotel can't do anything about — there is a lot of noise from the street. Every night were woken up multiple times between 1am and 5am by (homeless? ) people yelling and/or fighting in the street. This is probably not a problem in the back of the hotel, but is a big annoyance in a street-facing third floor room.

This is a great option for the economical traveller — a superiorly located, friendly and tidy hotel. The single rooms are tiny, but perfectly formed — and besides, what do you want to do in your room when you're in such a fantastic place as New York city?!

The central heating sounded like someone was banging on the walls and pipes with a hammer. For 2 nights I was awakened to this noise from 3am until 5am. Finally I checked into The Jewel, after I lost 2 nights of sleep. I don't understand why they use the central radiators when they have ductless heat pumps mounted above the beds. The room and bathroom was very comfortable and nicely furnished.

Great location in middle of Manhattan. Walking distance to everything that you must see on time square and near it. Metro station to downtown and to JFK just across the street. The staff was wonderful and so helpful, so tank you for that
Only negative is that you can hear noises from the street pretty loudly in your room, but although the hotel is near time square the neighborhood is pretty peaceful on night. Peaceful on NYC scale.

The room we had had twin beds a compact shower room with toilet and sink. We had a small walldrobe desk and tv. There is tea and coffee available Mon to Fri in the lobby. The staff are great and very helpful. The lift and corridors are a little shabby but you only pass through them. There is also free Wi-Fi and it's in a great location with some great restaurants on your door step.

Room was kind of small for the price we paid, the air conditioning unit was set so that it would only produce hot air and would refuse to cool the room down. Staff were nice, attentive, and friendly. Unfortunately, no cafe area to relax in.

Too small. It was not cheap to me considering that 160 DLs per day plus 55 DLs that charge you parking plus 10 DLs Internet. Well, it's not cheap. With that better another hotel that this in the other corner.

Okay hotel, worth the cheap price you pay. Very nice lobby is misleading, the rooms are much blander. As expected, the rooms were small, but we got what we paid for. Mattress was not the nicest ever, but comfortable enough. Very loud hotel: we could clearly hear what was happening in the room next to us and everything on the street. Updated bathrooms and complementary toiletries were a nice surprise. My complaints are with the climate in the room and the service. There was no way to control the heater, and it got extremely toasty in the room. The hotel should also hire more than one person to do every single job in the hotel. We waited a very long time for ice to be sent to the room, but I looked at the list of requests and the poor man doing everything had about 12 items on a list, most of which included getting something and running it to a guest's room, on top of baggage service at the front desk. He was very friendly and helpful, but you really need to hire a few additional staff members to provide better service to your guests.

Room was small but clean and even included a tub with jets, staff are warm and welcoming. Plus, you really can't beat the location! So easy to access all that central Manhattan has to offer. I really enjoyed my stay here.

We were so impressed by the staff during our stay! They were friendly and accommodating. We also liked the location. It is close to central park, Rockefeller plaza, and time square.

Everything was great! Rooms were clean and there was even an extra bathroom on the floor that we used to shower (we had 4 people). Highly recommend! Great location too!

Great location The only negative point is that the room was somewhat small, but for the price of the stay It was also not bad. Overall very good.

We were 3 adult females travelling from Australia in early Oct. Two of us had travelled to NY previously.
Two of us stayed for 10 nights, the other 8 nights, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the Washington Jefferson. The 3 petite rooms were absolutely spotless. The staff, including housekeeping, could not have been more pleasant and helpful, especially Bobby on reception. They made our stay extremely comfortable. Having security on the doors at night was a welcomed sight.
The location was excellent with fantastic restaurants at the end of the street. The subway at the other end of the block. Perfect!
All three of us agreed that we would definitely choose to stay here if we travel to NY again.

The Hotel is very comfortable and the location is very good.

Workers are nice. Location is great and within walking distance of times square. The Wi-Fi is good and is capable of video streaming. The rooms are decent sizes and the bathrooms as well. The cleaning is good.

Location is a short walk to Time Square, but the rooms are incredibly small for any price you would pay. The room is big enough to fit a full size bed and not much past that, restroom is closet sized.

Let's start with the beginning, so we pulled up to the hotel. I thought the Valet parking guy will come out, and will pick up our stuff, than take my car. The guy didn't show up, and I had to leave my car at illegal stop to run to the hotel for a Valet guy. He came out and I thought he will take our baggage and take the vehicle away, but he picked up like two bag, and took off. We had like 8 of them, so all other stuff I had to take on my own, and he didn't even helped us, didn't even asked! I left my car running, cause I thought he will take it to the garage right away. But that's not the case. He left the car running at the side street, and when I asked him to shut it off, he came back to me and asked how to turn it off. WHAT?! REALLY?! My friend showed him how to turn it off. 10 mins later, I went outside to check if my car was still on the side street. It was there, and guess what? He forgot to lock it! Is this really a service that you guys offer? At that point I wasn't sure if my personal stuff is safe enough, especially my vehicle. But here is more of the story. We went to our room, and none of the keys worked, we had to call lobby from my phone to come and help us. They tried like 5 keys, and FINALLY 1 at least worked. Lost 30 min of my time. Room was so small and looked so bad. Old elevators! just an awful experience. I came back to the room like hour later, the key didn't work, had to get a new one. And it happened once again couple hours later.

Great if you're visiting NYC to explore the city. Fantastic location that's close to many subways and sights. Close to times square without the suffocating crowds. Nice service. A bit bare-boned but that's ok if you're out and about all day.

Good stay in a decent room. It is not very large but it is enough. The room is clean. Unfortunately the air conditioner was down but the hotel had put another at disposal! The staff are very friendly and ready to respond to our requests.
The hotel is very well placed at 10 min Max walk to Central Park and Times Square.

Nice stay — great staff… facilities need improvement. The hotel was in a great location, wonderful staff. Upgraded me without having to ask. Room felt very clean and despite other reviewer comments, it wasn't tiny in my opinion. However, there were a lot of broken facilities in my room. Had we been staying longer I would've asked them to address this or move us. For example, our AC did not work — the central nor the unit. Unit was making odd sounds and leaking. Shower only had two settings cold and hot. Could not adjust in between handle broken. Many of the electrical outlets did not work (frustrating). I would still stay again because the room was clean and nice, staff great and good location.

There were 3 adults in our party with reservations from June 12-16th. When we arrived at the WJ Hotel, we checked in and proceeded to the elevator, which is limited to 4 total people, very tight. It was very hot and so were the hallways. We got to our top floor room which had 2 queen beds and it was very hot with only a tiny window AC unit, which was running on high. We went back down to the desk and told them to which the girl behind the desk asked rather shortly, "Did you turn it on? " She left and slammed the door behind her. The manager went back up with us, agreed, and moved us down one floor. The room was much cooler and he set the AC. The room was very tiny and the bathroom was so tiny, you could hardly move. The cold water faucet touched the water glass every time you turned it on. The shower head was placed in such a place that the shower leaked water all over the floor unless you had it pointed to the wall. I have never seen such a tiny sink in a hotel bathroom before. The towels were very nice; however. The queen beds were a board with legs and a mattress and there was no bed skirts. The sheets were very nice. The beds were so close to the AC that the air blew right on us all the time. The first room had no dresser so we couldn't even have unloaded our clothes from our suitcases. The second room did have an adequate dresser. We asked for an upgrade and there were non available for 3 adults. We had booked it for 5 nights and it was just horrible.

Super Hotek and the staff is hyper super welcoming towards tourists.

Good location, good value for money.

The location is great, just a short walk from Times Square. Not too close so it's quiet enough at night, but you're never far from anything. The rooms look and feel great, though the bathrooms are a little small in rooms that have been converted, but the rest of the room makes up for it. Service is always polite and more than happy to help, greeting you with a smile when you walk in the door.

Beautiful establishment with impeccable service, extremely well located since only a 5 minute walk from Times Square. If you are looking at the price and you can do without a cupboard and a fridge usually present elsewhere, this is the hotel you need.

Stay in a single that define Spartan is make a compliment… used chair to make bedside… night light at the foot of the bed. With switch unreachable… window on courtyard type prison of security… avoid it! … fitness zone… It takes courage and not to suffer from claustrophobia to withstand 5 minutes…

Single room, small, but acceptable. 125 dollars and there was not even breakfast included. At night the heating is too high, the room is small, and the temperature unbearable. To open the door is provided a card similar to an ATM, it touched to replace it twice a day that Smagnetizzava continuously.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. Fatima gave us a great list of nearby restaurants with cuisine from all over the world. All her picks were great! The room was a bit small since it is an older building but was fine for my mother and I to share. We opted for the courtyard room so it would be quieter and that was mostly true. I am sure it was quieter than the street side room. The heat is via radiator and is controlled for the whole building so the first day it was very warm, especially for February, so we cracked open the window for some cool air. Two days later we definitely had to close the window because it got cold. Not good for people who like to adjust their room thermostats outside the norm or who have a narrow temperature range. The hotel is very convenient to many places of interest and only 2 blocks from a subway stop.

Good location not far from Time Square. Our room was very small. They do not offer breakfast if not coffee and tea but not a problem. Overall we were fine.

Nice location and beautiful room in very New York style!

This hotel is a sightseers dream. It is close to EVERYTHING! You are so close to many of the major attractions on Manhattan so many that it seems unreal. We stayed here on our honeymoon a week ago. They have a delightful sushi restaurant, it is quite and a bit more traditional than the cool spot in your home town. The rest of the neighborhood is full of amazing food. Thai, Cuban, Pubs, and Pizza everywhere. To top it all off, their front desk staff is great. They were happy to help and knowledgeable on all the things visitors would ask. The rooms are small but they are well cared for by the housekeeping staff so you will always have a good rest after seeing everything you planned.

Great location and the room was really good for NYC. The people working here too are very nice and very helpful. Aside from location and service that's pretty much all it has to offer.

The room was quite sizable for being a NYC hotel. It was also well kept and clean. The staff were fantastic and incredibly helpful. I would absolutely recommend this hotel and I will most likely be staying there again if I return to the same area.

Good balance between cost, location and facilities. Very friendly staff. Nice hotel for a quick stay in Manhattan.

Does anyone know if I can request a six-month lease at the W&J Hotel and become a permanent rent-stabilized tenant? I think that if you do this, the landlord can't make you leave without a court order and you get the low stabilized rent. I think this actually happened at the W&J Hotel but for some reason it never happened again.

Rooms are extremely small but serve their purpose. Location is great and staff was friendly. The hotel is older but for the price you can't beat it. Manhattan is extremely pricy, be prepared to spend a bundle and not necessarily be enthused about what you get.

Great location with time square and Broadway 3-5 blocks away, good NYorker neighborhood with good choices of restaurants, friendly staff and great service! The only thing I wasn't flattered about was the size of the standard room. Definitely small. Workable for sure though. We stayed here for 4 days. It's NYC. You don't spend time in the hotel room, you are on the go all the time! Definitely not good when you have a kid (s), std room is too small for anyone with kids. : unless you upgrade to bigger room.

Really, the hotel has a great location, within walking distance of times square. The rooms are as typical but very well used for small, New York. It was all very sour and in good condition. The establishment of modern.
I can really only recommend this hotel. Even bad luck I've had in New York, but the WJ offers a very good value for money.
