Reviews of Dream Downtown 4*
Great time! loved the roof top suite❤️
They have a great rooftop bar and excellent pool. The nightlife is also pretty cool with the club on top of the hotel.
Do not stay here! Experienced terrible customer service, rude and I accommodating staff (including managers), and a lack of professionalism. Utterly embarrassing! Way better hotels in NY.
Was expecting a “luxury” hotel and instead I stayed at basic hotel. Nothing luxurious about this hotel. The bathroom design was nice to say the least. The lobby was hyped up all over the internet during this time for the rose garden wall which was really pretty but other than that, this hotel was not worth the amount of money I spent to stay here for two nights. Front deck staff was very nice and so was security staff.
Amazing and absolutely beautiful, love it❤️❤️❤️
Beautiful place nice service.
Amazing hotel and staff. Location was great! Stayed for Xmas eve and day and had a great experience. The pool is cool. The rooms are different and very nice. Bathrooms are huge and very modern. Will definitely stay again.
This place is out of the ordinary, staff are very friendly a very nice place to stay in New York — с Henry Gutty.
Beautiful place with an Amazing view of the Empire State Building (if you’re lucky).
Love the overhead view of the pool at the lobby.
Fantastic place!
Rooms were comfy and fun. Guest services were spartan and typical NYC, but a few drink$ fixed that!
Amazing service. Texted me
To make sure everything was tip top. Took care of me on my bday upgraded and checked in an hour early thank u so much.
Had an amazing time this weekend! Everyone was really nice, and accommodating.
Way too noisy. Cafe staff rude and unhelpful.
Love the Dream downtown! Amazing views and fantastic service.
Bad internet connection, Bad internet connection, the signal always skips and rooms after the usual cleaning are not ventilated. As a result the room always has a bad smell.
The hotel staff was on point. Atmosphere was rocking, clean rooms and modern decor and only a block to Chelsea Square. I would stay there again.
They’re cute but overpriced. Noisy and limited view.
Got to love this place.
I am a repeat offender! I just jeep coming back.
Great architecture and design, amazing rooftop pool and great club, lounge and bars in a great location. Has it all!
Wretchedly horrible experience.
Air not working properly.
Internet speed below 1 MB.
RUDE RUDE front door security.
Asked for a fan and took an hour and the fan didn’t work. …
Room was TINY and not what was advertised.
No electric outlets anywhere near the bed.
Good location but poorly trained, incompetent staff.
Nothing but a MISERABLE FRUSTRATING ANGERING and EXPENSIVE failure at every level.
horrible torturous experience.
Nice staff, GREAT location and overall just a fun place.
If you like circles, this is your place. Circles and round spheres everywhere! This is a really nice hotel with a great location. The hotel gets loud at night with clubs and bars there and close by, but you can't hear in your room. I enjoyed my stay and would go back.
I was there on a Tuesday night on the rooftop and the ambiance was like a Saturday night to be honest. There is no imposed attire and no fees for entry, just have your id. Now that might because is was a Tuesday night so you never know. The crowd was diverse and drinks were not too pricey. I would definitely recommend this spot if you're trying to have a good time on a weeknight.
Very nice atmosphere, well decorated and heavily themed — it's a fun hotel to stay in. But it lacked amenities that I would consider standard in a hotel of this price. Location is excellent and if you're into clubbing it's a great lobby with an attached club (PhD). If you're there for work, I would consider elsewhere.
I'm coming to the Dream Downtown several time a year and it's always great. The rooms are always nice and silent (if you want it silent) the bed is comfortable. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The vibe in the hotel is actually the best. It's always nice to come back to the Hotel. For me, the best and nicest Hotel in NYC. I can highly recommend it.
The decor is nice enough and so is the staff. Food bites were okay and tasty. The outdoor space needs mist fans or even low maintenance fans to help keep people cool in these humid days. Drinks are fine and well (except to pay the price for a trendy location), bartenders do their best with the crowd. Yet for the cost of the drinks — using real glassware would be much better than cracked, foggy worn out acrylic cups. The music is hit/mess depending on the DJ.
Great hotel with superb service!
Hands down the best plac ive ever stayed in. Definitely coming back and telling everyone about it!
Event: Gay Pride 2018, PH-D Rooftop, Dream Hotel (Downtown, NYC) On June 24th, 2018 at ~3:45PM, I went to the Dream Hotel (downtown, NYC location) with 1 other friend, where Voss Events was sponsoring a party on the rooftop ("PH-D Rooftop") for Gay Pride. To provide some context, there were two main lines — one of which was for people who had not purchased VIP tables (this is the line I was standing in), and another "VIP" line (I say "VIP" very cautiously) for people who purchased tables and were supposed to get priority entry to the party. To provide additional context, a 6-person table reservation was $500 (so $83 per head). We waited in line for an hour in the non-VIP line — 40 minutes of which we were at the very front of the line. Yes — for 40 minutes, we stood at the front of the line without gaining entrance to the party (and neither did anyone behind us). The VIP line next to us was supposedly for people who had purchased tables, but the people gaining entrance to the party via the VIP line were all personal friends of the guy who was managing who gets into the party and who doesn't. And it gets better — people were explaining to this guy that they had purchased tables, or were part of a table that their friend purchased, and he explained that there was no capacity and there was nothing that he could do. Yet, minutes later, 10 people would arrive that he knew, and he'd give them all stamps and send them on their way up.
The most fun place to be in the city. Beautiful amenities, super friendly service. Great food and the best pool.
Very nice modern design, spacious. Service staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. A total pleasure to interact with them. But noisy with loud and unpleasant clubbing music with improperly dressed non-guests walking everywhere; non functional — the refrigerator in the room is completely full and unusable, removal of any items will cause a charge to be applied immediately. No utensils, no microwave, insufficient hanging space for damp towels and clothing. Poorly designed. The front desk staff was however very helpful in switching me to a room that is more insulated, they also waived the incidentals.
I was enjoying the "deluxe king room". The bed was comfortable, and the lobby very fancy. Location is also quite good. However, that could not make up for the lack of sound insulation. Basically, the hotel is also a night club. If you are looking for this, you'll love it. If not, you won't. It'd be OK if the room was cheap. It isn't.
I really enjoyed myself at this particular Hotel. I was brought here under Google for their office visit, and this is the hotel that they chose. I knew it had to be a good hotel if it was endorsed by Google. The rooms are exactly what I would have expected out of a 4-star hotel. Smart automation as soon as you open the front door! Circular Windows throughout the entire Hotel give a nautical feel to the room. Also the handwritten note accompanied by freshly baked cookies and a glass bottle of water added to the excitement and experience! The price for this 4-star hotel is also very reasonable and I will be coming back to this particular hotel in the near future!
Room ok, restaurant crazy prices, but coming from work I was refused to go to rooftop bar because of a bag that has the size of my laptop. Please drop it in the room first the elevator guard told me while ladies with their life big bags past me left and right. Then in lobby bar checking my room credentials to buy a class of wine waiter insists to keep my driverslicense … imagin I would run away (checked my room credit card on file). Not a very guest friendly place.
The room size is nice, staff is great and the location is amazing. The main issue is the noise that comes from the corridors. You can hear absolutely every door that opens and closes, what everyone says outside of the rooms, and it does keep you awake or awakens you, if you have a light sleep. Something must be done here, especially because there are different night clubs and restaurants inside the hotel, which means you can let hear all the drunk people trying to find their rooms and even trying to open your room door. If it weren't for the staff service and hotel location, I would certainly give the hotel 1 or 2 stars… I'm very disappointed…
Unique & Sleek, Pet friendly European Hotel. Right in the heart of Chelsea New York. The hotel both several bars and nightclubs all are amazing. I attended a personal event in the electric room it was incredible. Definitely a must if you're looking for a place to stay in New York amongst nightlife. Plan on visiting again! Thank you DREAM!
Depends what you're looking for. This place is in a great location but tries way too hard to be cool and basically turns into a nightclub after dark. Walls in the rooms are super thin so beware if you're a light sleeper. Staff were extremely friendly though. I probably won't stay here again on a business trip but if you're in town for fun, it might be a good option.
The room and the service are excellent. I had bad luck because there were a couple of false alarms while I stayed there but, outside of that, everything was excellent.
We've used this hotel a few times because it's convenient for work. The first time I thought maybe we just got an oddly configured room, but each one I've seen is the same. Glass-walled bathroom where the door handle is a big hole (I prefer a solid wall and door between me and anyone using the toilet), hard to find and reach outlets, thin walls and door. No coffee maker, but you can order a small pot from room service for $10. Gym machines are dated and the equipment is dusty. TV reception goes in and out. Staff, however, are friendly and helpful. An odd place that seems to be less about being a good hotel than being trendy and hosting a club scene, which isn't what I'm looking for.
The hotel is trendy. The crowd was mostly under 30 although some middle age or older like us. We had fun it’s a great area and rooms are very co temporary and nicely appointed. Chris scali the concierge was wonderful. Great attitude very helpful and vested in his guest!
It's a party on the first and top floor but I didn't have time to attend. It's right across the street from both Google offices on the ninth Street side. Doesn't provide tooth paste or tooth brushes which was disappointing but there is shampoo and lotion. Bed was comfy enough although it's not the best. Shower was awesome. The room itself was very nice and fun to stay in.
Excellent location. Comfortable and functional.
Great place. Always things going on. Rooftop bar. Basement club action. The service was quick an professional. Great clean rooms. Nice looking building. Real different from others. Close to many food areas an. Not. Too far from Times Square. Highly recommend it to those who can afford it. Also has 24hr access to a gym on site an also on site swimming pool (4ft deep the most)
A decent hotel with fine staff. It's trendy, or tacky, depending on who you ask, and if you're a fan of the club scene you'll enjoy its multiple venues. If you're visiting for serious work, or prefer a quieter environment, this place may not be for you. My room was fine. Small, but comfortable enough. The noise from the clubs was loud and long-lasting into the night, though. The hotel lobby bar was quite pricey. The staff were friendly and helpful, though. I would not stay here again, as it's not my taste, but I can see its appeal to some.
It is a modern and well-comfortable hotel. It's in the Chelsea neighborhood in Manhattan. Good central with many restaurants and bars nearby. He's got a nightclub in the penthouse.
Rooms modern and clean. Medium-priced level and therefore perfectly fine for Downtown Manhatten … Breakfast a little lean otherwise good.
The Dream Downtown has a fantastic location in the heart of meatpacking. In addition, it has a unique shape and design and a very good looking lobby/bar area that gives it a high end allure. I visited a hotel room for a friend's birthday and it was very modern looking with a unique design. Would recommend checking it out.
While it's pretty, it's very noisy. I can hear the room next to me and the shutting of their drawers, doors, voices, etc. Some staff is very nice and helpful (like Chris the concierge) while others have some attitude. The elevators require you to insert your hotel card key to access to floors (fine), but I had some issues with inserting and removing the card to get it to accept, so I went to the front desk to ask for help. A man walked me to elevator the show me how to do it because he said I was probably doing it wrong (… right, because inserting and removing a card is super difficult apparently), anyways it didn't work for him the first time but did the second, he was frustrated with me when I pointed out the fact it didn't work for him the first time. He then walked away in a fit … While it's convenient for me to walk across the street for work, I think I will try somewhere else next time when traveling here for work for better hospitality!
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Our room was very nice, spacious, and clean. The staff was very helpful and courteous. They gave us a real crib with a nice mattress for our toddler to sleep in, which was really nice because he slept better in that than the usual pack n play. The only downside is that it is pretty loud and has a party atmosphere, which would be great if that's what you're here for, but it isn't so great for a family.
Really nice place, we have. Had a drink and enjoyed it very much. Fine Place. Great quality and wonderful staff. Recommended.
The style of the rooms is unusual. I find the beds comfortable, the TVs have Android and thus allow streaming and other apps.
Very eclectic father well located near Google.
Rude front desk staff and techno music blaring till 2 in the morning on a Monday night. When I checked in my room wasn’t ready which was fine as I was a little early. They took my cell phone number down and said they would call as soon as it was ready. That was at 1:30. I came back to the hotel at 6 and asked about my room and they said it had been ready. No call no apology. Overly complicated lighting system in room and no outlets by the head of the bed that I needed. Overly pretentious staff except for the valets who were super friendly. Should have read the reviews before booking as there are several one star ones. Will not be going back.
This is a very convenient location when needing to work across the street and was recommended to me for that very reason. I found the rooms to be a good size for NYC hotels, the bed comfortable and the shower relaxing. However, the room decor reminded me of 70’s chic (not my cup of tea) updated for the 90’s (a portrait on the room was of Drew Barrymore during her “bad girl” phase). All the furniture was low and you almost felt like you had to fall into them to sit down and do a deep knee bend to get up. The hotel staff were attentive and pleasant. I am not sure I will return.
ABSOLUTELY a nightmare. Unless you enjoy drugs, careless people, bouncers, club music in the lobby and Mr Arabian knight not wanting to share an elevator with you because you are not good enough for him and his girls. This place may be alright for you. But your damn website should show that and not an upbeat luxury hotel. And I want my money back as your hotel is not worth $500/night! I would rather stay at a hotel in N. Korea than this place. What a JOKE! Can I give a. 2 star?
Nice hotel with an awesome staff! The employees are some of the friendliest people around! Rooms are clean and have comfortable beds. Walls are a bit thin so it can get noisy at night because of the night club (on the 12th floor).
Spent the weekend at dream with 22 people. We had 12 rooms. The bronze rooms with balconies were very comfortable we also had pool side rooms. The poolside room was extremely exclusive with direct access to the pool from your room. If dining at Tao this hotel is the perfect location right next-door. We had a private table at PhD rooftop great views great service and great music. This weekend was truly a dream with 22 great people. The door service the reception pool service bar service lounge lobby service were all extremely polite and friendly. Service was impeccable at the dream hotel downtown. I would recommend this place to any small group or a large group or just a weekend or a night stay in New York City.
This hotel had very hip and modern design! Quirky but it suits my taste. Quite a fun visit. The washrooms are a bit difficult (it's hard to describe… you'll understand when you enter it). The beer can bottles itself is a peace of art! Suitable for young people :)
Not impressed, but great location, very friendly and professional service. Room was small. No fridge space for your food (only stuff for sale). The bed was the only comfortable place to sit. It took 2 requests to get the heater working. The clubs were good. Not a quiet place to sleep at night.
The vibe in the place was amazing… Great crowd and atmosphere. Rooftop scene, a pretty sleek pool and good restaurants. The rooms are kind of small, but expected of NYC. I did feel like for the pretty penny spent, they should provide lotion and a shower cap… Basic let down. View was amazing though, can't complain otherwise.
If you are 25 and either muscle bound (he) or bikini clad/ flat belly (she) this is your place. The edge of the pool did not have an inch available — but nobody in the pool. Don't want to mess up the makeup.
The tables were on top of each other and really uncomfortable. The food was just expensive diner food. Service was poor. Took hours to just get a coffee.
The omelet was watery and tasteless. It's hard to mess up eggs.
Its just a scene. If you want good food and service — go someplace else.
I have high standards.
This was such a horrible stay! The beds were awful, lumpy, hard, and extremely old. The room was not as pictured on the website — we booked "platinum" rooms so that we could have a divider between the sofa bed and the king bed for privacy since we had people sleeping in both, but there was no such divider, and the sofa and bed are right next to each other. After we checked out, we'd been charged $120 extra per night for no reason — labeled an "upgrade fee". This fee was never discussed with us before it was charged, and we have no idea why. Then, when I called about it, I was transferred around to 3 different people, none who could explain the charge or resolve my issue. I was told they would get back to me, but they never did. Breakfast & room service was also a terrible experience — extremely overpriced and the service was horrible — it took an hour to get our food. For the money we spent, we were extremely disappointed.
The Gold King room that I stayed in was very nice. Bed is very comfortable, shower is nice (although mine didn't drain all the way), and a fantastic view of the NYC skyline (including the Empire State building) through these large circular windows. They're definitely a unique touch. The only complaints I have is that given the price your paying for this nice hotel, I would have expected a free complimentary breakfast (breakfast menu is very nice, but a bit on the expensive side). That and while the mini fridge is stocked with drinks (not free), there's no room for me to store my own food/drinks if I have leftovers from a restaurant. Again, those are minor gripes in an overall great experience.
Was very happy with my stay. I knew that the bar on the roof is loud beforehand. ;-)
This is a hotel that delivers half of what a typical guest would expect:
1. No television service whatsoever for my 2 night stay, which was due to an "outside service provider", and then the television wouldn't turn off while it was making weird noises so I unplugged it
2. Doorbells on guest rooms either do not work and/or have some light function instead of sound, neither of which work, therefore a cleaning lady walked in on me at 9 AM
3. Gym is small, dated, and ill-equippe…d (but the television service was working somehow)
4. Guest room is super small and old, the desk is small, the ironing board is so small it's like 1/4 of a typical ironing board length, and the desk chair isn't on wheels but the floor is carpet therefore it does not move at all
5. Only 2 elevators that are slow and also used by service staff, requiring waiting for Elevators as they make many stops
The service people at the concierge desk were very courteous and apologetic, so it's unfortunate for them that this hotel is a typical marketing "bait-and-switch" where all resources are dedicated to making a 2-star hotel seem like a 4-star hotel, instead of investing in better infrastructure so that it could be closer to a 3-star hotel.
I will never stay with this brand again in any location, and I will advise others who would consider this deceitful group to steer clear no matter the cost.
This hotel has nice rooms and not too much. The service is good and the staff courteous. It is not cheap and many services are chargeable but I would recommend it and would stay here again.
On the ground floor there is a very trendy club. Maybe I would not recommend this place to families.
Design room but nn very convenient. The service is slow. Nice pool But there are a few places. In general Nice hotel but I expected a bit more about room service. We had to solicit to make us redo the room.
Experience once in was as expected: fun and otherworldly. Did not appreciate the door cover of $300 minimum bar tab for entry for a party of 5. We were contemplating bottle service but upon greetings of this mitigant, disengaged and went for the min.
Overall an ok hotel, room size for New York standards are ok. Pricing seems inline with other hotels in the area. The room I was in must have been recently renovated as everything was very new and clean. Noise was an issue and I wore earplugs while sleeping. Anything from hearing TVs from other rooms, hallway, cars, running water, etc.
Love this hotel. Great location in Chelsea. Excellent views, super friendly staff. Has a gym, is within a block of the running/walking route on the West Side Highway. Rooms are roomy, clean and sleek.
Stayed for few nights, on a business trip. Great location, fantastic staff (yes, really! Friendly, polite, discreet, and very helpful! ). Great room (got a "quiet" room), king size bed, and liked a lot the firmness of the mattress. Very nice toiletries too, what else do you need? Will definitely stay here again.
Very nice boutique hotel downtown. Lively lobby, a cool swimming pool and funky rooms with porthole windows. My first time here but I'd definitely come back and/or recommend.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly, everything was clean and comfortable and the interior design was impeccable. This is one of my new favorite New York City Boutique Hotels!
Boutique hotel small, but stylist rooms with amazing views of the city. Attentive and professional customer service. A bit pricey, but it's NYC.
The room was very beautiful and well kept. The lights and ambiance made it a great experience. The bathroom locks were pretty bad though. It was extremely diffcult to lock the door and once locked, it can take a few minutes just to open it back up again. Additionally, after a certain time, my friend who rented the room, was forced to kick out all her guest. I found this surprising and appealing of the location.
Had a fantastic stay at the Dream Downtown. They do a great job of providing a unique experience in the great of Chelsea. The ski lodge was a wonderful touch. Rooms were funky and unbelievably comfortable. Considering there is a popular night club on the roof, I was happy to get a quiet night's sleep. Jennifer and Lindsey were both super helpful! Would definitely go back.
What did I like about it? Nothing. Tiny rooms. I took a shower and then realized I had no towels as soon as I got out. Literally no towels. Air dried. Called to get towels but never came. Got a lame apology but no recompense from front desk. Douchy expensive place.
Awesome rooftop bar with great views. The only thing I did not like was that they serve the cocktails in plastic glasses.
Everything is very circular in this hotel, an underwater/futuristic motif. This is what everything will look like in the future once NYC is underwater due to climate change. Very trendy. Got free drink vouchers at check in so that was really nice. Also close to Google nyc. Overall A+.
Fantastic rooftop bar with a view. Also check out the US flag made out of beer cans in the lobby. And yes, the rooms do have crazy circle windows, pretty cool.
I've stayed both here and the nearby Gansevoort. Personally I prefer the rooms here at the Dream, but for the price paid I did feel there should be a coffee machine or kettle for making tea in the middle of the night with jetlag. During the week it's a calm place even with a top DJ playing, but come the weekend the bedrooms became party zones with pillow fights, loud music, drunk people rolling into each others rooms, so if you want to join then its a good place, but if you want some sleep before an early Sunday morning flight to UK, its probably better to move to an airport hotel.
Great place and well decorated but very noisy. Do not go with children, it is not at all suitable knowing that there is a nightclub on the top floor and music back to the pool. The rooms are small, expensive, noisy and the reception staff is not friendly at all. One has the impression of the bother of a question. On the other hand, the rest of the staff is pretty nice.
It's nice d have a pool, but there are not enough sunbeds so we got to be at 8 in the morning to have a! The pool bar food is not extraordinary, everything is served em offbeat. I changed my room the second day because it was too noisy and I realized I was missing one of my personal belongings. So far, me is still not found. I stayed 6 days in this hotel 4 stars which is not a…
Design and style are totally on point and very cool. Rooms are on the smaller size and pretty simple, may want to consider removing the cheap-looking silver curtains. Service is great. Fantastic location in Meatpacking district. The weekends are a little too much with loud people and pool packed. All bars at hotel, with the exception of the lobby, are very mediocre with a lot of attitude from staff and rude to guests of the hotel. I like it and would come back here for sure I just hope the bars management company changes.
Client interest should come first in the hospitality business however this is not the case at Dream Downtown NYC. Dream Downtown's room smelled like it had been fumigated and drenched in bleach. Upon request for refund Dream refused and was uncooperative in coming to mutually agreeable terms. I would advise against staying at a Dream Downtown as they put their interests above their guests!
As someone who works there I not only have witnessed a man steal a truck from our dock and go barreling through Chelsea killing an MTA bus driver, I also got yelled at for no reason by entitled Men who secretly sleep together like M Lindenbaum and Ayo Akinsete, then pretend as if they are the kings of something and write tons of fake reviews for the hotel to get promotions for their inner circle of managers they do drugs with. ML is a notorious cocaine user and goes off the rails constantly. I've seen actors come in and buy MDMA from managers at the desk and plenty of prostitutes run in and out of married mens rooms. Iv'e seen fights break out and people hospitalized or nearly killed. What customers need to understand is they knew from years ago that the clubs would cause hell for those wanting to sleep and don't care, they just continue to apologize and act as if it was recently discovered. They only care about the money. I've seen people come down from clubs into the hotel floors turning random knobs to see if females left their doors open by mistake so they can go in and rape them, a woman was attacked this way also, so be very aware. Oh and they pay off the crooked NYC union so workers can't join and have rights. And they have 1 HR PESON. What a joke. Whether you are working there or coming as a guest, make sure to bring your dam pepper spray.
Free Wi-Fi is the worst that I've ever experienced and although I had a nice view on the 11th floor I needed to use the noise cancelling feature in my room to stop my head pounding from the nightclub above me. Sucks when you have just arrived from a 7 hour flight. Rooms are nice but small but I isn't all bad — location is great.
Really liked my first stay here. Great location and stylish rooms. Bathroom was wee but very well appointed. Great northern view of midtown and very quiet room on the ninth floor. Bed was a little low, chic carpet.
This hotel is paradise if your single or young and wanting to have fun. The rooftop bar, club, lounge is amazing. It has outdoor space with open views of the city. The location is smack in the Meatpacking district, with lots to do around the clock. You can't go wrong with this place if you want to be in the hottest mix.
Had a really nice stay here at the Dream Downtown. The staff were super friendly and all about making you feel at ease. The lobby has a well-stocked bar and at nights, they turn it into basically a club. I stayed on the 8th Floor, so I didn't hear any of the noise that people are complaining about. The room had a nice modern minimalist feel to it and a wicked view of Midtown. It sounds like they had some really nice amenities (year-round heated pool, penthouse bar), but I didn't have the time to sample them as I was there for work. Definitely next time.
Wow. Avoid at all costs. The staff is obnoxiously rude, except for one gentleman at PHD who helped my wife find a table. Other than that, everyone acted as though you were lucky to be in their presence. I had a reservation for PHD at 12am, and was told there was nothing in my name. I said I had been emailing Nicholas, but everyone said they had never heard of him. It was only until I pulled up the email chain on my phone that they rolled their eyes and let me in. Horrible service by snobby staff. Save your $50 and get 2 cocktails elsewhere.
Awesome venue with an even better view. Perfect for literally any occasion.
The dream downtown is a very nice hotel. The architecture is very modern and original, the hotel is well maintained, clean, and has a very wide infrastructure. There are several restaurants, an outdoor swimming pool, fitness room, etc. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, and the rooms are checked several times a day and cleaned. The rooms are generously equipped, if also the beds are too soft for my taste.
The only strange thing at the dream hotel is that it is made just to party. Everything is relatively dark, and there is a lively come and go by party people. Women in light clothing and high heels, men in snazzy outfit, all at chic and richly trimmed, give a feeling underdressed and in the wrong place to be. It has not bothered me, but it is certainly not everyone's / fraus thing.
This venue is classified as a hotel, but it's more like an after-work and after-hours destination. The contemporary design is cool, the service isn't all that bad and even the drinks are pretty good. Unfortunately, the place tries too hard to be that hip place that everyone wants to hang out at and fails in that respect. Decor ranges from contemporary materials like steel, glass and exotic woods to the most urban of all styles, graffiti. This place truly falls into the "it's okay" rating, as I expect that you would move on after getting a full dose of the loud ambiance.
We stayed at the Dream Downtown in July and had a nice time even though we had a couple of issues with the initial room we received upon checking in (concrete floor, no carpet; (, walls were marked up…) We were however moved to another room and it made our stay better. Erik Wurst the concierge, was very helpful in not only taking care of our dinner resv. I also appreciated Erik mapping of the Nyc Marathon route for me and a guiding me on a training route. Thx Erik.
What a joke. This isnt a hotel, its a nightclub with beds. It is currently 2.35am on a Monday and the music is booming around the hotel. My advice is stay somewhere else, particularly if like us, you came to New York for work. Very expensive and no sleep. Then when you want to lie in to catch up on the sleep you didn't get because of the all night music, the housekeeping noise starts. We checked out the next morning, we suggest you dont come here or check out if you have the same experience, just maybe this hotel will then get the message. Awful.
I've been here on two separate occasions, once for a gay pool party and once for a Host Committee event and had fun both times. The setting is beautiful and I'm always a fan of a beach in NYC. The only thing that is a downfall, but expected, is unless you have an open bar, the drinks are pretty expensive.
Absolutely recommended! very high quality in all sorts of ways including rooftop club.
