We had an awesome stay at Grayhaven motel. Clean rooms and covid precautions all in place. Our kids loved the trails on the property.

I really enjoyed my stay here. It is simple but comfortable. My favorite part was the birdwatching through a wall of windows available in some of the rooms. They have strict Covid protocols which made me feel safe. Can’t wait to return!

This is a wonderful place to stay for a day or a week like we have done this past week! Alexis and Mark and their wonderful staff have made our week long stay here very enjoyable! they do their very best to make sure that everyone is comfortable and happy with their stay at The Grayhaven Motel! anyone looking for great places to get a room or a cottage like we did this week should come to The Grayhaven and check it out for themselves! Love it here. Beautiful rooms and beautiful natural setting, great location, awesome owners, fire pits and grills for all (important during the time of social distancing! ) — — no complaints!

Very nicely remodeled in mid century modern style. Minimalist and thoughtfully designed rooms with hardwood floors. Bird feeder outside window. Very nice homey breakfast area with local bread and jam selections.

This place is absolutely wonderful and full of character!

I had a lovely time at the motel playing bocce ball and cornhole with friends from Philly who stayed. Great owners, lovely rooms, wonderful location near Lucifer falls, prettiest falls in Ithaca.

Loved it can not wait to go back to Ithaca to visit my granddaughter. They have done a wonderful job with this Motel. Can not wait to see it when all the improvements are done. More like a cozy B+B then a motel.

I’ve stayed at the family-owned Grayhaven Motel more nights than I can count. IMON It is the best motel in Ithaca, warm and helpful staff, perfect location at the edge of town and affordable. Dog friendly.

I agree that the reviews look good, but not at all what we expected. We booked multiple rooms, you think the owners would make sure they were all ready. Rooms were very out dated, very bad musty, damp, smoke smell, TV broken. They just want us to put up with it. Moved to a lot better motel. Well, don't stay there!

I fell in love with this place before even completing check in. The owners are incredibly welcoming and seem to go out of their way to make customers feel at home. Our room had clearly been prepared for us, with a lamp on, the air nice and cool, and a bottle of water with glasses waiting on the table. While we didn't make use of them, I appreciate the fact there were fire pits and outside chairs available. The hotel is small and older, but has been updated and has a ton of charm. If I ever return to Ithaca I won't even bother looking at other motels.

Have stayed her 2 times and both times I hate leaving. The new owners are great and friendly and the rooms are clean and well cared for with fresh paint and even provided plates and silverware.

My husband and I have stayed at The Grayhaven numerous times, he more than I because he got to visit/live in Ithaca for years long before he met me. The last couple times we stayed, we enjoyed it but found it not as much quaint and quirky, but somewhat musty, run-down, and slightly inhospitable. Then Mark and Alexis bought the place in September of 2017; we found out about them buying it in May of 2018, and decided to stay there again.
Immediate first impression was that they had magnificently opened up the first floor of the "office" house, and had made it so welcoming, a friendly face behind the counter, pretty jazz playing quietly on the stereo, and an open seating area throughout the first floor living space that invites guests to talk with each other and get to know one another. They also added a little space for guests to sit in a well lit eating area with coffee, granola bars, toast, and pop tarts. What a treat! The non food treats just have to be Gunnie and Laika their Bull Terrier and miniature Bull Terriers. Such lovebugs! Going to our room, we found it freezing cold. Mark immediately showed us how to mitigate the cold air from the air conditioning despite there being no individual room temperature controls. We've been super comfortable for our entire week here. We stayed in the Carriage House Queen room, and found it charming. Old fashioned with some modern touches. The sheets and towels are made in the USA, and are cotton and comfy.

A great place to spend the night or a few days. The guest rooms are clean bright and very well maintained, fitting beautifully with the park-like grounds. The enclosed dog parking is a great extra, especially if your canine companions have a tendency to wander in new locations… Though amenities are limited, there is free Wi-Fi on site and the motel is conveniently located near multiple dining options.

If you are visiting Ithaca, stop looking for a hotel now and stay at the Grayhaven Motel. The rooms are immaculately clean and very comfortable with high-quality sheets, towels, and bath products. The decor ranges from charming to gorgeous and recently fully renovated. The owners, Alexis and Marc did everything to make sure we were comfortable. They serve excellent coffee and light breakfast items in the super nice reception area that's full of beautiful art. The motel is a quick drive from downtown Ithaca, Ithaca College, Cornell, and Cayuga Lake. The price is right. Why stay anywhere else?

TLDR: This family owned-and-operated, dog-friendly motel is a great stay being so budget-friendly and so close to the parks and town center (>10 minutes). 10/10 recommend. Stayed the weekend with one other guest and I have nothing but rave reviews for this place! We happened to come on the first Friday of the month which is a special day for the Grayhaven. The owners host an art opening in their main office, The Good Food Truck (a modern take on Mexican that had vegan and non-vegan offerings) sets up in their parking lot and serves food 6-9pm, which is directly followed up by an outdoor movie for the guests and community to enjoy. Our room (cottage #10) was impeccably clean upon arrival and the perfect size for 2 — 4 guests! There is a private bedroom and a futon that folds into a rather sizable bed. The shower and bathroom were separated, which can help with getting ready in the morning. They have natural bath products and plenty of towels provided, and the water is super hot and has great pressure (rest assured! ). The kitchen was another great perk, with a full sized fridge+freezer, stove/oven. The motel is very close to Treman and Buttermilk (with a trail connecting the two expected to come soon! ), and only about a 2 mile drive to the center of town. You will not be disappointed with your stay at the Grayhaven!

The new owners Alexus and Mark have done a fabulous job as they have taken over ownership of this retro motel that has been in their family for years. They kept the love of dogs including the large, fenced play area. They have added new paint and an overall freshness. This is an older motel being cared for in its true fashion — — not trying to be something plastic. Owners show environmental care with no waste soap dispensers, glass glasses and high quality US cotton sheets and towels. The dogs loved that the room was ready for them with an extra sheet to protect the bedspread from muddy paws, stainless bowls, dog biscuits. Dog level windows with a view of the woods and a bird feeder for their enjoyment. Skip the chains that are spread all over Ithaca and enjoy a real motel, run by real people. Incredibly clean and comfortable. If you are lucky enough to arrive on movie night or an art gallery opening you will enjoy it even more! A great vibe that quickly becomes quiet for a restful sleep. We will stay here for every event we attend at the Groton Canine Events Center.

This is a great place to stay if you're passing through Ithaca. Cozy and rustic rooms, caring owners, and just down the street from Buttermilk Falls. Highly recommended.

Amazing family-owned motel right near the heart of Ithaca. Close to the new Black Diamond trail, right down the road from both Treman and Buttermilk, and a quick car/Uber/bike ride to the Commons. The new owners are doing an amazing job of updating/upgrading/beautifying, and they only bought it a few months ago! Big bonuses: dog friendly, sustainable products and practices, arts friendly … If you're not into cookie-cutter hotels with nameless, faceless staff, you have to check this place out.

Lovely small motel with a great dog run area, nice reception with coffee and pastries and friendly young couple who run the place. Rooms are clean with comfortable beds and plenty of space. We had joined rooms with a small but clean kitchen that was perfect for our family and a few guests who came over one evening. So far this has been the best place we've stayed anywhere near Ithaca. Great value too.

This hotel is very pet friendly. There is a fenced in area where you can let your dog off leash. The rooms were ok but a little musty and dated.

My husband and I stayed for a couple nights at Grayhaven motel and really enjoyed our stay. We loved the old school feel of the motel while at the same time keeping the rooms feeling fresh and clean. We had a nice view out the window and a bird even came up to the bird feeder while looking out one morning. We'd like to come back in the summer when we can take advantage of the fire pit and let our kids run around the grounds. They had a one-pager with recommendations for restaurants and other stuff — we used a bunch and they were all winners!
