My girlfriend's dad's wife fell because the curbing wasn't marked or painted yellow. It was uneven and even a worker said he's tripped a few times. The workers and head of security were of no help.

Tried the bar while waiting for the ferry. Great service, tasty cocktails, and a magnificent view. The restaurant and hotel design are unique and worth a stroll.

Not worth$500, per night, with no amenities. It’s the worst decorated room, I’ve stayed in. No lounge access, no water in room and a city view upgrade, when the hotel is on the water. Breakfast is included, but only by reservation, no reservations available. Stay ever!

There’s a “mandatory destination fee” of $25 but check-in manager was great about it. He desires the fee is non reasonable but… is offset by amenities offered. We had a $25 restaurant credit that we used at lunch. We also were given a free trolley tour worth about $20… so we came out ahead. We could have ALSO had a spa credit but did not use that, We ate breakfast at the hotel and it was very very good! Fresh fruits, danish, made to order omelets… awesome. We recommend this hotel whole heartedly!

Accommodating. Wedding atmosphere and beautiful ballroom. The wedding planner was more than patient with us and it is much appreciated. The hotel layout is perfect. Couldn’t be more perfext.

Customer service exceeded expectations. We were able to check in early only to have to quickly exit a couple hours later as our daughter was rushed to the ER by ambulance two hours away. The manager and associate were so understanding they refunded our $500+ non refundable room. We will come back and so appreciate the kindness shown to us in an emotional moment.

Veryyyy nice hotel. Room was clean and we had to call room service twice to accommodate things for our daughter and they were there very quick. But we did have a bad experience outside the restaurant. The older lady standing at the hostess stand yelled at my daughter and it took everything that I had not to tell her to mind her business. Then she told us it would be better for our daughter to run around the outside area, and when we went there it was dark and not a place for kids. We paid a lot of money and since they say no kids can go in the bar area after 8, I dont see a problem with my two year old running around outside in the lobby not bothering anyone. She was very rude about it rather than telling us the parents if she had a problem. Something like that really mad me mad.

Room was so humid that the carpet was damp the sheets and pillows were damp! Then in the morning during shower ran out of hot water! Only thing nice about this hotel was the location.

The Newport Marriott provides the perfect atmosphere for all types of travelers. Family or Business, it is comfortable, clean, and is perfectly located. What I notice most is their hospitality. The Marriott team provides fantastic customer service, and provide top Marriott Bonvoy recognition.

Rooms were nice, but their customer service was absolute awful! The Main Sail Restaurant service by our waitress and hostess was the worst. They were rude and disrespectful. They seemed annoyed that they had to serve us at 9pm, but they don’t close until 10pm. The bar closed early on Saturday night — if they can’t handle hosting 4 wedding blocks, then don’t book them!

A wonderful time in this great little Village. The bar was the oasis within this gigantic hotel. Great bar food, the chowder was the best I have had in a long time. All around this place is eye candy architecture, ancient old homes built for the shipping and seafarers who lived and worked in this historic town. The Mansions on the hill are not to be missed. So much history here. You gotta go!

Stayed here for 2 nights while in Newport for a wedding. The hotel is great with three dining options (quick bite place, a bar and a sit down restaurant). It is located very close to downtown Newport so we walked everywhere we went. My only complaint is that you have to valet your car.

Great place to stay for Newport Folk! Location is perfect for water taxi or walking around in town. We have stayed at multiple hotels in Newport but prefer the Marriott during festival time. It was just remodeled—very clean and comfortable!

Clean, unique and very comfortable. One issue, for breakfast at the omelette bar the ingredients were flying all over the place. I saw pieces of ham in the vegetables which was a turn off since I don’t eat pork and do not like meat contamination in vegetables. So that needs to be fixed. There is no free parking so you ether have to go for valet or park in the paid public parking lot. The lounge had a good variety of food. It would be a five star if I wasn’t turned off by the meat in my omelette.

We were in Newport on a holiday weekend.
We had one hiccup with room availability and needed to use a parlor room, which come to find out only has a pullout and no actual bed.
The beds in the other room we had were crazy comfortable! Great location. Easy valet. It was nice to have the little store open 24/7 next to the front desk. The gym looked clean and plentiful. The sun deck next to the inside pool was a nice alternative if you aren’t going to the beach. When we called for extra towels they arrived very fast. All the staff roaming around were extra personable. The in room shower was glorious. All in all I would go back.

A ridiculously fancy and highly expensive hotel that I only stayed at due to the generosity of a friend. The rooms aren't as impressive as you would expect from the pricing of things but the scenery and the other things the hotel offers are usually enough to make up for it given that you use them. Don't be afraid to make use of the pool, free breakfast and other meals if you do stay here. The hotel itself is in the center of a lot of really interesting and charming places in Rhode island; an arcade, an incredible ice cream store, ferry rides, and a fancy popcorn store that sells flavors you couldn't even dream of are all in walking distance. There's so many incredible things in the vicinity that we found ourselves spending very little time in the hotel itself and more time walking around to all the smaller and charming places.

I have never been in a Marriott b4 since the westin and sheraton are the chain of hotel we always stayed on vacations, but I felt in love with the Marriott at Newport. The hotel is roomy, spacious the lobby is gorgeous and the best part, the peole are soooo nice and helpful. Breakfast is great also. My only recommendation will be to have a green juice for the breakfast buffet. They had 3 types of juices at the breakfast buffet but no green. Thanks to all the the people involved in making it great, starting with the valet parking, ending with the maids. Thanks you all!

Overall the hotel was nice. It was in a relatively convenient location to food options and businesses. The room itself was good, but not great. The bed was large and comfortable. The shower was nice with good water pressure. The TV in the room was very small though for the layout, maybe 24". Breakfast was good and reasonably priced.

The hotel is in a great location with lots of restaurants and things to do withing walking distance. The lobby as some really cool decorations and the staff is all very professional. The rooms are modern, clean, and also have cool decorations, but the views on the inward facing rooms isn't great — just a balcony overlooking the lobby area. It would have been nice to have at least a window facing outside being in such a neat location right next to the piers. Overall, we had a great experience and will probably stay here again when we are back in the area.

I've known about this Marriott for years. And I've never been there though. I was very impressed at how nice of a hotel it is. From the valet when we first got there, to the lobby and to the nice rooms. It's in walking distance of downtown Newport so there's no need for your car while you're there. Great location.

Beautiful hotel that was newly renovated. Walking distance to Thames St shops and restaurants. Staff was pleasant. Spa on site was so relaxing, such a great experience. The Skiff Bar which is on site had great food and drinks with a nice outdoor terrace. Loved it!

Stayed for a wedding. For the price of rooms at this hotel I have to say I wasn't super impressed. We had 2 beds and both sets of bed sheets had orange or red stains on them and I couldn't tell if it was food or blood. I did do an email survey about the stay and a response came back saying they would take the feedback and work with it. Also the bride and groom were comped their suite but the hotel charged them anyway and it was a big to-do to get the charge off and a lot of arguing back and forth. Not crazy impressed but the ballroom and everything for the wedding ended up being very very nice.

If there was a 6th star I would give it. My wife and I travel a lot for work and are loyal Marriott people. So we had our room block at the Newport Marriott for our wedding in February 2018. When I say that we have never met a more respectful, attentive and accommodating staff I genuinely mean it. From the first time we contacted them through the week after the wedding they ensured that every small detail was taken care of and that we were happy. They handled a 180 person wedding with ease and truly put our concerns to rest. The rooms are beautifully redone and the restaurant/bar has amazing food and drinks. If you are looking for a place to get away for a night or to host an event I can not recommend this place enough. We hold Marriott to a very high standard and this hotel and the entire experience truly surpassed our greatest expectations.

Amazing location right in the heart of downtown Newport. You could walk everywhere or easily pick up an uber to the mansions. Lots of space in lobbies and restaurants to hang out in and the rooms were recently renovated with a clean nautical theme. The staff is always so kind and helpful with any requests or questions.

OUTSTANDING service — even at capacity Was there for 4 nights last week… work related. The hotel was pretty full due to a company conference, but I'm still shocked with just how great the service was. Front Desk, Concierge, Event Staff, Room Service — all 5 stars. At no point in time did I have to wait more than a couple minutes for anything (including valet service, front desk, amenities, check in/checkout) My room was clean, quiet, and full of essentials. The bed (king) was incredibly comfortable. The rooms were quiet (and mine overlooked the big open atrium). Side note… all the showers are huge. The hotel is right on the marina and close to tons of local restaurants, shops, bars, and other landmarks. We were a little too busy to try out the gym & spa — so I can't comment on those amenities. Only downsides were the breakfast buffet, a busted USB hub on one nightstand, and the dry cleaning bill (I did the dumb thing and didn't confirm pricing ahead of time. Marriott contracts a 3rd party and their pricing sheet is confusing) but EVERYTHING else was beyond my expectation.

The location is great! Easy to get to with plenty of parking. Walking distance to all the shopping and restaurants. Across the street from the Newport Gulls stadium if you wanted to take in a game. Great place for families.

Nice hotel with fantastic staff. Everyone was really friendly. You can't connect any gaming systems to their TVs but big shout out to Shawn who helped me out and found a 2nd TV they could bring to my room! Good location too.

Nice Marriott property right in the heart of Newport. Very walkable location with the ability to be on Thames street in a matter of minutes. The property itself has recently been redone over the last couple years and it shows. We had a nice suite overlooking the harbor, which was great even though it was chilly out. The service was great and there are two restaurants in site (one more formal and the other more of a bar scene). The bar had some bar games to keep everyone interested and there were more than enough Tv's to catch a game on if needed. If your bold, there is an awesome little Irish pub tucked away behind the hotel as well.

Bed was very comfortable and room was beautiful. We really enjoyed our stay. The only negative was we could hear the music from the lobby in our room on the 6th floor.

Our room was in the back of the hotel over looking the parking lot but that was ok we only went to the room to sleep. Celtica pub is literally steps away. Breakfast Buffet was awesome as usual highly recommend.

As a professional charter pilot, I "get" to visit many hotels, stateside and internationally. After a very short while, they all start to look and feel alike. What differentiates this hotel from many others includes it's general cleanliness, nicety of rooms, wonderful view of the working harbor, consistently good amenities and good overall layout. The negatives are slight but it must be remembered that this is the off-season (Early March), when my $100 (give or take) room will command $600 per night during the "season. " Hotel staff were moderately attentive but, with the exception of M-Club staff, their customer care was mediocre at best. Valet parking is available but the "car hop" wasn't available when we arrived early Sunday evening. Not good. At this time of the year, there was free parking in an adjacent ramp, notwithstanding the cold walk into the hotel. In all, a very satisfying experience which is probably first rate during the season.

I’ll give this hotel 4 1/2 stars. Great hotel. Very clean. Nice staff. Decor has a theme of a sailboat, beautifully done. Lobby is gorgeous. Indoor pool could have been warmer. My only complaint:
Who just took the fun out of room service at breakfast time? Marriott. They are now sending breakfast in plastic containers in a bag to your room. (That should be called take out not room service! ) The taste of eggs changes in plastic bags. The hash browns are such sorry little dry patties, they can come handy as door stoppers. And the worst crime was that the Starbucks coffee arrived with creamer you get at any diner and no milk. We spent $50.00 on 3 breakfast orders and were totally disappointed. I will go back to this hotel again but will not order room service breakfast which in my opinion is one of the best parts of staying in a hotel.

I attended a craft show at this location and was very impressed with the Newport Marriott. The service staff was kind, there was water out, the art work and decor was beautiful, and it was very open and bright for as many artisens that they had.

Excellent hotel. Rooms are superb. Staff and service is superb. Will recommend and return regularly.

This place is beautiful, and walking distance to the middle of town. Would have been the perfect relaxing weekend if it is not overrun by kids, like ours was. Any hope of sitting quietly by the fountain in one of the hammock chairs with a glass of wine is out the window when there's children who think it's a playground.

Stayed here during the Christmas/New Year's holiday. I was impressed at the remodel! I feel a lot of times when hotels remodel, you can tell by all the layers of paint, and the obvious covering up of the old. This looks like it was all-new, and it was very well done. The check-in and check-out was quick and easy, and the entire stay was no-hassle. Service was excellent as well.

Room was clean and comfortable. Employees were friendly and helpful. The wedding was beautiful and we'll managed.

I’m writing this review as I lay across the bed at the hotel The hotel was absolutely phenomenal. The rooms are clean and very updated. Walk in glass shower, Wi-Fi and all the small comforts that make you feel at home. The staff, whether it was house keeping front desk or the event coordinators were excellent. I’m here for a conference for Work so this was an excellent choice to have the mAriott host this event.

The hotel is beautiful, clean, modern, and comfortable. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Restaurant food is really good, too. The location is perfect for our family to sightsee, shop, and explore the area.

Nice place, the staff was great. A lot of the tours leave from right nextdoor at the visitor center. The shopping district is well within walking distance. Even for me with a slight handicap and walking with a cane. Very cool wall decor in the rooms.

Dinner at their restaurant was amazing and we had drinks and went out. My friends room was immaculate and all of the staff were very nice. A very delightful experience.

The hotel is nicely situated and looks like it has been renovated recently enough to feel modern. The staff have been friendly and the food at our meeting was good. The only downside is that my room's windows face the elevators so it's a little busy at night. Overall though I'm happy with my stay.

We've stayed at the Newport Marriott several times and each visit is always perfect. The hotel was beautifully updated a few years ago. The rooms are well-appointed with incredibly comfortable beds. We always enjoy the interactions with staff… very courteous and helpful. Can't wait for our next visit!

This hotel is PRICEY (visited in high season, but presume even low season would be super high) and had it not been for points, we wouldn't have been able to stay. That said, we were thrilled we could — this place was GREAT. Location was perfect — across the street from harbor/boats and walking distance to all of the lovely downtown shopping/eating areas. Building and ambiance were lovely, all nautically themed, but very upscale. GORGEOUS open spaces and a lovely restaurant that was very gluten friendly for breakfast. Nice indoor pool with outdoor sun deck. Room was very attractive with the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on in a hotel. Bathroom was small, but well appointed with a nice shower, very hot and good water pressure. Parking is valet only. I would not hesitate to stay here again if I could afford it.

Everything about the Mariott was lovely. I only give 4 stars because the rooms were half the size of the room I stayed in across town but were significantly more expensive. It didn't seem to be worth the cost difference to me. But the Skiff Bar was fantastic… the games were a nice touch, and the lounge area was very inviting.

Beautiful space and rooms. Very clean and modern and has a great feel. Staff is friendly. The only reason for not giving 5 stars is the things excluded. For the price I paid, I would expect free Wi-Fi in my room. Nope it's at least $13 extra per day. Also you have to pay for parking. Either $35 a day for valet or park next store for $20. I would expect a free parking option. The location is excellent. Walking distance to the main area with all the shops, wharf and boat tours. Excellent restaurants and stores near by. The rooms themselves are a little smaller than normal. The pull out bed hit the desk when used.

Beautiful hotel. The all-indoor aesthetic is an enjoyable departure from the usual experience. Service was great at the desk and the Skiff Bar, though we didn't visit the restaurant. The pool, on the other hand, was surprisingly small, but the well-equipped fitness center and the balcony overlooking the interior easily made up for it. Overall, a great hotel in a great location, with plenty of dining and entertainment within walking distance. Highly recommended.

Was not thrilled about the jacuzzi or pool. Huge inconvenience to locate and the size was not impressive. The room was decent but there was a bad smell emitting from the pillows. Customer service was decent. Nothing that made me feel that this deserved more than 3 stars. I probably will not return this hotel.

CONS: Heartless staff, interior room with no view of outside, lacking in light, OVERPRICED. PROS: Beautiful location, modern and clean rooms. I went to Newport for one night, Saturday, with a few friends. The plan was to stay at my friend's aunt's vacation apartment. Turns out her aunt has cats, to which I'm highly allergic. Took some benadryl to help lessen my reaction but woke up around 1am, wheezing and having trouble breathing. Called a few hotels in the area, this was the only one close enough that still had vacancy. I explained my emergency situation over the phone and the clerk told me the best rate was $200 for the night. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told there wasn't one. Ended up checking in at 2pm and paying a total of $225 for a room that I used for 5 hours of sleep. As a frequent business traveler, loyal marriott member, and decent human being, I was extremely surprised that $225 was the best rate they could give me — seeing that I was clearly in a tough situation. My personal issue aside, please be aware when you are booking with them, that some of their rooms are interior rooms with windows that open up to the hallway. That leaves no sense of privacy or security. Also, the lighting in the room is aesthetically beautiful but not functional — especially considering there's no option of opening the curtains to let in light… unless you're comfortable with being on display whilst in your bath towel.

Every saint patrick's day weekend my family and I flock to this hotel. Everything about this hotel was great. Few minor problems like access to the pool has changed but besides that a great hotel. My family has been staying here for plenty of years and the whole crew at the marriot knows us as the pirates. I recommend this to anyone vacationing in Newport.

If you are planning a vacation in Rhode Island, I would highly encourage you to look into the Marriott in Newport. This hotel is in the heart of the city; walking distance to the harbor, restaurants and stores. The hotel is immaculately kept with staff feverishly working to keep it spotless and always greeting you with a warm smile. We upgraded to a room with a view and boy was it worth it! We woke up to a gorgeous sunrise over the harbor in a clean and very comfortable king size bed. While we were reluctant to make the trip in the middle of a major winter snow storm at the end of January, this hotel made my wife's and my weekend! There was nothing like sitting in the warm hot tub watching the snow accumulate outside through the glass wall of the fitness center. I would HIGHLY recommend the Marriott in Newport — any time of the year and I can't wait to go back!

My wife and I stayed here for two days. They just remodeled the place and it looks great. The rooms are nice. The bed was extremely comfortable. We had two minor issues during our stay. First the air in our room wasn't working properly. Maintenance came quickly and manual override the thermostat. That did resolve the issue but the unit still made some annoying sounds. Secondly, we complained about a missing chair on our inside patio. They brought us a measly replacement. Definitely not game changers so I will definitely be coming back.

Hotel has a great looking interior with friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are nicely equipped, particularly including the smart TVs, and themed well for the locale. Speaking of which, the location is great too, providing walking access to all of downtown Newport. Only negative is the mandatory valet parking, although during the off-season the next door city parking lot is open and free. That being said, this is still my go-to hotel when traveling to Newport.

I absolutely love this hotel. The customer service from the valet to the room service was all A+++. The hotel was clean, beautifully renovated, and had an amazing view. It's in the perfect location for all the little shops, best restaurants, and sight seeing. Not to mention the breakfast, (it was all 10s) so delicious. I also want to mention Kim at the front desk, she went above and beyond to making the experience memorable. When service is as wonderful as it was I think everyone should know. I'll be seeing them before the year is over.

Nicely renovated downtown Newport hotel in the heart of all the excitement and entertainment that is Newport Rhode Island. Guest rooms are cozy and crisp with a nautical theme. Double rooms have two Queen size beds which is a nice upgrade. Lobby is up a flight of stairs which is a bit inconvenient if you have mobility issues. The day we were leaving we found an elevator from the entry to the lobby — — signs pointing this out would have been nice when we arrived. Bringing your car with you is easy to do because valet service is fast and convenient. There are several places to eat within the hotel all of which were very good and the room service menu, available on your television screen, offered a wide variety of tasty choices. Overall, the Newport Marriott is a centrally located, upscale lodging option for those looking for a place to stay after a busy day exploring all the wonders that Newport has to offer. It's not necessarily family oriented (although there is an indoor pool) or the place to stay if the accommodation is the goal. Newport itself should be your objective.

Breakfast in the main dining room is fantastic! Food and service are both amazing, but the best part is the DINING ROOM! It's beautiful!

This hotel, built apparently in the 1970's, was in need of a complete redo, from top to bottom, and, in March, it was reopened, completely refurbished. Unlike most Marriotts (with too typical a corporate uniformity), this one sparkled with a very fresh and locally relevant nautical theme (sails as a central decor item; ropes, cleats on polished wood, etc. ) All furnishings are new, as well as hardware (for example, completely new doors and doorways with RFID based locks — — no more mag cards to get demagnetized in your pocket. ) The two bars were very much alive (and well furnished and decorated) over the weekend in the late evenings and the restaurant looks over pretty parts of the harbor. The valets handling parking were on their toes and scrambling whenever the need arose. The wait staff and front desk were very responsive. All in all, a great experience.

This destroyed and with Black Fungus (Black Mold) hidden in the insulation. Must be careful with the people and children staying there. Especially asthmatics, like myself. In two days until I become dehydrated.

This place seemed great at check in and then it went all down hill from there. The room was the size of a shoebox, had rips in the carpet, and a great view of the parking lot. The room service didn't pick up the phone until I called four times, and then they couldn't accommodate the request. We were there for my wife's birthday and were looking to have a great time. Unfortunately, the inattentive and rude staff made this impossible. The front desk "manager" wouldn't even supply me with the General Managers contact information when asked. We were supposed to have a multi-night stay, and ended up not even staying one night. For the money…. I would go to the Hyatt.

We have been going to this Marriott since it opened. The location is the main reason we keep coming back. This particular hotel needs a facelift. Lobby, restaurant/bar looking tired. The gym however is awesome. New cardio's etc. Staff always very helpful, and go out of their way to assist you in your needs. Rooms very clean. They seemed to have been upgraded within the last couple of years. Overall, always a very good hotel to call home when visiting Newport.

We are here for a wedding. We didn't get the wedding rate even though there are many rooms affiliated with this wedding and we are rewards members. Nice hotel in a sought after area, but these days when Wi-Fi is free in every coffee shop, why is it $16.95/day in a $500 a night hotel that they are already gouging us for? That's tacky.

We usually stay at Marriott. This one was a bit disappointing. Staff was great, but the place is definitely dated. Kind of old and gloomy. Restaurant was so-so. It's is a great location. Walking distance to all the action in Newport. For the price we paid, I was expecting something a bit more spectacular. The Marriott World Center in Orlando is leaps and bounds better than this Marriott, and it was cheaper. I guess we paid for the location.

I had a very relaxing warm stone massage with Carol. The spa is clean and beautiful.

A relatively new hotel located right on the water. Booked at last minute and did not regret it. Check in took a minute and the room was exactly what I requested. The only negative part of our stay was that I we could hear everything outside our room. It sounded like people were talking inside our room. It was quiet at night though. Make sure that you book a water view room.
