Absolutely worth it. Love the set up of the bi level room with the roof top deck. Fireplace in bedroom was great especially in November on the water. Highly recommend for a getaway for couples especially for parents of teenagers like us.

Excellent in all ways! Clean, friendly staff, amazing rooms and delicious breakfast. Also, fabulous location … walking distance to restaurants and shops.

Stayed for 2 days. Staff was attentive and friendly. Lovely complimentary breakfast from 7-11. Afternoon sangria and fruited water. Nice assortment of snacks served from 3-5. Turndown service that included chocolates. The rooms were wonderfully appointed. Our only issue was a random Mill Street inn low flying drone overhead as we ate breakfast. They probably should have asked if we found it an imposition. Rooftop dinners from nearby inns were shouting obscenities and flashing nasty hand gestures as it circled.

Incredible stay. I cannot say enough positive things about the staff and facilities. From the moment we arrived, the staff was absolutely delightful and incredibly responsive. The rooms and facilities were spacious and spotless. Cannot wait to return.

Mill Street Inn is my favorite place to stay in Newport. The staff is friendly, the rooms are beautiful and clean, and they have an excellent customer service program in place. We most recently stayed over Easter Weekend and the woman at the front desk thanked us for returning (nice touch! ), there was a mixer bar set up in the lobby and tea, and coffee sweets and more waiting downstairs. My partner was craving this graham cracker brownie we had our last visit a year ago and they did not disappoint! A bit later in the afternoon, we received a phone call saying that they understood we declined turn down service, but wanted to offer a treat for the holiday weekend (pictured). The only suggestion I have is to make sure (especially on a holiday) that the dinner recommendations on their daily list are actually open. They weren't a far walk at all, but figured it was worth a mention if you're borderline hangry. In the morning, the complimentary continental breakfast is unparalleled and the sidewalks were already shoveled in front of their building and it was perfectly toasty warm inside.

What a wonderful place to stay. They make you feel comfortable and at home. Clean and loved the decor. Close to Thames Street and the water, shops and restaurants! The staff at The Mill Street Inn go the extra mile. Turn down service included chocolates in the room. They have a nice breakfast included in your stay along with tea/coffee in the afternoon. If you’re in the area, this is the place to stay for sure!

Just spent Easter at the Mill Street Inn for one night and we loved it. The building was truly historic bringing the outside brick design inside and also very modern, updated, and eclectic with the "old mill" feeling. It was very clean and quiet. Breakfast was fresh from the yummy scones, frittatas, and donuts to the squeezed orange juice. The team did a great job at making you feel like it was a personal experience the entirety of our stay. They provide you a turn down service, with a personalized note, tourist attraction suggestions, and a treat. You are welcomed into your room with chocolate covered pretzels and cashews and bottled water. The room keys are even original vintage keys with a cute key chain. Nice touch with all of it!

The staff was very helpful in navigating our first trip to new port. The rooms were very clean and large. Just a note: there is no elevator so if you have young children’s a lot of luggage you may want request the ground floor.

Great room, high ceilings with brick exposed walls. They have a tea hour, along with a great continental breakfast. I will definitely be back again.

My wife and I were looking to take a short vacation close enough to where we live in MA but far enough away to feel like we actually went away. She found a package on Groupon and when she showed me the list of destinations, Newport obviously stood out. We were immediately struck by the photos of the Mill Street Inn and their pet friendly policy made the decision very easy as our dog Koko goes nearly everywhere with us. We booked a Deluxe Suite and we were very pleased with t…he feel and decor upon arrival. The building and the immediate area is very historic and just enough off the beaten path but a short walk to the downtown area. The suite layout was inviting, comfortable, warm and clean and they even had food bowls, a dog bed and treats waiting for Koko who was able to stay with us for an extra $50 for the entire 3 days. The Complimentary continental breakfast was very good and their downstairs breakfast nook was really cool. Caron, Kayleigh, Katrina and the whole staff were very pleasant, courteous and professional. They even gladly watched our dog so my wife and I could duck out for a quick dinner a few of the nights we were there. We had a great stay, we'll be back again and would recommend the Mill Street Inn to anyone visiting Newport.

Stayed here while hanging out in RI. Great location and easy walk to Thames St. And the wharf. Has parking on site, so you can leave your car. Rooms were exceptionally clean and even came with complimentary snacks. Stayed in a suite and it was very roomy, bed was soft, and shower was hot. Staff is on and available 24 hours a day and knows the area well. Price includes deluxe continental breakfast, which includes some sort of egg, and tea time. Planning on making this my go to when in the area. It is a little pricey, but it's worth it for location and amenities.

I have been staying at the Mill St Inn since I was about 10 with my parents… it's the only place they will stay at when visiting Newport and continues to be my favorite place to stay when visiting Newport now that I'm an adult. We stayed last night in one of the suites for our anniversary and minus a little mishap with the hot water cutting out on us (which the morning manager made sure we were compensated for) we loved our stay just as much as I always have here. The beds are super comfy, the complimentary breakfast and afternoon tea is alwats delicious and wonderful… word to the wise, parking is tight so try to avoid bringing a big car (like the Ford pickup we had to take thujs time…)

Went for an anniversary weekend and could not have been more pleased. Location is perfect for walking Newport, staff were helpful, room was clean and comfortable. Lots of little touches that made the stay extra fun: Complimentary water, cashews, chocolate covered pretzels, and oranges in the room. Free breakfast was great. In the afternoons we had coffee and cookies. Also free sangria in the lobby! We had a blast.

Location in Newport was excellent; attentive staff; good amenities; disturbing lack of electrical outlets; room became stuffy in the middle of the night; faucet in bathroom did not want to give cold water which was frustrating when trying to give our dog water.

Quant remodelling of classic building, nice services (Wi-Fi, breakfast, snacks, welcome beverage, etc)

Good location, neat two story rooms with roof deck facing harbor (ours did anyway), parking is off street. Bed was comfy.

Great rooms pricing isn't bad for what you get and free breakfast.

Unique rooms preserve the history of the property with a modern touch. The location puts you in the center of Newport but is removed just enough to be an oasis. The spa services are great and worth considering.

Only place to stay in Newport, has the amenities of a big box hotel but the charm of an inn. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are unique to the building each being slightly different but with identical comforts. Only negative is the pillows are a bit soft.

The fire place didn't work but other than that my girlfriend and I were very pleased and the breakfast was pretty good.

Room was beatiful, staff was friendly, location is great and within walking distance of the main street and a 5 minute drive to the mansions.

I went with my boyfriend on one of the coldest days of the year. The woman working the front was incredibly nice and upgraded my room without asking. We had a beautiful 2 floor room, with fireplace, and balcony. The view was picturesque. We had plenty of space to spread out, the shower was spacious, and the bed was comfortable. The desk even let me park my car there after checkout. Will stay again.

Awesome atmosphere with a mix of a luxury hotel with a home feel. The highlight of decore was the new age feel with the brick wall accent.

We had a wonderful experience here. The front desk staff was awesome, the rooms were clean and spacious and the breakfast was a nice way to start the day. If we ever get to Newport again, we would stay that the Mill Street Inn.

We had booked a studio room, the hotel upgraded us. The one bedroom suite was spacious and nicely decorated. The staff was super nice and available to help at any time. The continental breakfast and afternoon tea were very good. I couldn't believe how many choices of food there were. Yogurt, granola, oatmeal, scones, croissants, bagels, jams, almond butter, Nutella, fresh berries, to name a few. I would also recommend this hotel because it is within walking distance to Thames Street, restaurants and shopping.

My wife and I stayed a long weekend in August of 2013. The staff was wonderfully friendly and the room was a beautiful 2 story suite. The balcony/deck had a small but pretty view of the harbor. Breakfast is offered on a roof deck but we had rain for two of the three mornings, so were only able to enjoy it the last day. (alternate location is downstairs/basement breakfast area). The selection was simple but fresh and tasty. The location is a prime spot. A 2-3 minute walk from downtown. Close enough to get to everything and far enough away to not hear the noise. Parking is available, but is very tight. I'd stay here again.

I love this place! We just returned from an overnight visit to Newport. My husband booked the Mill Street Inn, though we had never stayed there before. We had our two dogs with us so we needed a nice place that also accepted dogs. This place exceeded our expectations. Wonderful location close to downtown Newport. Beautiful historic neighborhood. Great room with a living space downstairs, wonderful bedroom with a gas fireplace and bath upstairs and a balcony that overlooked the town and the Bay. Incredible views, especially at night when the bridge is lit up. And the people couldn't have been nicer. One of the managers actually watched our dogs for us while we ate breakfast. How awesome is that? Great continental breakfast included with the room with a wide variety of breads, cereals, fruit, mini-quiches, yogurt. Even smoked salmon with capers! Cannot wait to return.

The roof deck was awesome for some nice warm sunrise photos. My wife likes the decor too modern but still warm and cozy.

Casual meets luxury at the Mill Street Inn. I took my son to Newport for its history, beautiful views and shopping. But the Inn itself became an additional attraction. Transformed from a mill it has charm and comfort. I was pleased with the balance between the modern attributes, elegance and nostalgia. Our room featured two levels downstairs with a living room and fridge, upstairs with a king sized bed and bathroom. TV's both up and downstairs, fireplace and private deck. This was perfect for us but also ideal for a family as the couch converted to a pull out bed. The view from the deck was priceless I watched the sun set over the coast and the Newport bridge. In conjunction with the accommodations being most pleasant the location of the Inn is well perfect. Within walking distance to all the restaurants, shipping and other activities. It was most ideal I enjoyed being able to park the car and see and do everything a few steps away. The staff was a delight and extremely helpful on local dinner spots. Be sure to get a good look at the pictures on the wall while eating the complementary breakfast. A wide variety of breads, bagels, yogurts, cereal, coffee and freshly squeezed juice. Excellent for a couple or your family, we look forward to our return to the Inn.

I just returned from two days at the Mill Street Inn and loved it. The Inn is a fromer finishing mill (check out the photos in the dining room of the former mill) converted to a 23 (or 26? ) room hotel. While the exterior and brick walls reflect the history of the building, the furnishings and design are distinctly modern. Our room was a two-floor suite with a sitting room on the first floor and the bedroom above. The bedroom opened onto a balcony with an expansive water view. The room featured a gas fireplace, lots of comfortable bedding and a nice bathroom. It was clean, fresh and the linens felt new and soft. The bathroom featured a dual rainshower setup with big, fluffy towels. I rarely eat breakfast, even when it is included, but when I ventured to the breakfast/dining room I was impressed. Organic almond butter? Steel cut oats? Fresh strawberries and fresh squeezed orange juice? Six types of bread for toast? It was really quite a spread. But, what made this a five star experience was the staff — friendly, helpful and attentive. When the night desk person couldn't answer a question, he told us about a morning person who could. And sure enough — she knew the answer to our obscure inquiry. I don't know what their summertime rates are, but we paid $120 for a two-room suite. This included breakfast and parking with none of the annoying "fees" other hotels add. With all we got, this felt like quite a deal.
