This is a truly lovely place to stay, either for a single night or an extended period. As previous reviews have stated, the owners, Anthony and Bobbi, are very welcoming and happy to chat. We had traveled North from Massachusetts to do some hiking, and Anthony was quick to tell us all the good spots (both immediately local and also up in the White Mountains) to find a trail, and handed us a hiking map for the road. They also have a historical map into which you place a pin representing where you hail from, and you can see all the other places in the US and around the world where travelers have come from to spend a night here. The appointments are just as warm and inviting as the hosts. This is an old and storied house, but very well cared for, and it shows through every inch of the space, from the clean and polished wood floor to the beautiful wallpaper and truly gorgeous stained glass windows, lamps and chandeliers to the lovely and well-made furnishings. There is no trace of the generic, bland hotel/resort decor here. The true centerpieces of the home are the staircase, the fireplace and of course, the large breakfast table. As for how well it actually functions as a place to live and sleep, I found the bed to be very comfortable (and blessedly quiet, thank goodness — the mattress, box spring and frame made nary a peep all night).

My partner and I stayed one night at the Cheney B&B early September, on our way home from Quebec Canada. Bobbi and Anthony are an amazing couple who share this very interesting, home from home with many visitors. They're quite unique in their approach to looking after their guests. They certainly ensure that they feel very welcome and comfortable. The bed was amazingly comfortable and their flexible attitude to when you had breakfast was also very accommodating. I strongly recommend that you try this fabulous B&B, it's worth it even if it's just enjoying the little sweet treats that they leave around 24/7, and also the coffee that's available for guests at any time of the day. Brilliant, Bobbi and Anthony we hope to return to see you again in the not too distant future. Keep up your good work.

The Cheney House and Bobbi and Anthony made our wedding weekend absolutely amazing! Bobbi and Anthony were so nice and take great pride in the Cheney House. Anthony gave us an incredible historical tour of the bed and breakfast, and both Anthony and Bobbi treated us like family and long-lost friends all weekend. We booked the entire bed & breakfast for our wedding weekend and this was the best choice we made! The rooms are perfect, the beds are so comfortable, and the amenities are top-notch. The breakfast is unbelievable — — cooked to order with fresh fruit and pastries and hot dishes and coffee/juice. We had the best stay (and we've stayed at many hotels around the country! ), and I recommend the Cheney House to everyone. Ashland, NH has a lot to offer, and I'm so glad we chose to stay at the Cheney House. Not only did Anthony and Bobbi welcome us, but they also were so welcoming to the ladies from Angela's Cut Above! We had 3 ladies come to the Cheney House to do our hair and make-up for the wedding, and Bobbi and Anthony were so gracious to let us use the entire living room (and even offered the hair ladies water, snacks, extension cords, and TV trays! ). Bobbi and Anthony are incredible people, and you will get a once-in-a-lifetime experience by staying at the Cheney House. We are so lucky to have stayed there for our wedding weekend. For our 1st time at a bed and breakfast, we had a fantastic experience! Our hosts were very accommodating from our arrival until our departure! The house was clean and chock full of interesting pictures and artifacts. Our room was cozy and our meal was delightful! When it came time to leave we needed a ride to our final destination and Anthony and Bobbi went above and beyond by driving us to where we needed to go! Thank you both so much for making our 1st time in New Hampshire and our 1st experience in a bed and breakfast a memorable one! We highly recommend Cheney House as the go to bed and breakfast when staying in New Hampshire!

We had a wonderful stay with Anthony and Bobbi — the house has great character and our hosts were kind and inviting to us and our dog! We enjoyed visiting with them in the evening and over breakfast. We're looking forward to our next visit and are so pleased we found such a great place with wonderful hosts. Thank you!

Exceptional experience! Comfortable mattress, delicious breakfast, warm and cozy environment. Have dinner at the Common Man down the road and then come back to the Cheney House for some hot tea and cookies and a puzzle by the fire. Couldn't have asked for a better time.

This was my old HOME in 2000&2001 before it was a bed and breakfast. My bedroom was the first door to the left up the staircase. I LOVE what you have done with the old Cheney house!
