From Oklahoma and go to the state of Missouri as often as we can for family research, and to get away. We visited Carthage on Father’s day two years in a row now, and each time stayed at the Grand Avenue Bed and Breakfast. Staying at the Grand Avenue B& B is superior to that of any traditional hotel, or motel. We never worry that the sheets might not be clean or if they have even been changed or not. The breakfast is superior to any restaurant we eat in. My husband who must follow a heart healthy diet was fed with that in mind, and he is still talking about the whole wheat pecan pancakes. The omelet breakfast is wonderful as well. The family is so warm and personable, their home is simply beautiful. They are hard working people who take pride in their establishment and continue to update and improve on a regular basis. The home built in 1893 and is absolutely stunning with original beauty and personality. History oozes within the walls from this old home, and so well preserved. This will always be our home away from home when visiting the state of Missouri. This is such a quite place to stay the night, and there is such peace. If we could give the Grand Avenue 10 stars instead of 5, we certainly would rate it that high.

We visited for a weekend to participate in one of their Murder Mystery events. It was so much fun! The house was absolutely breathtaking. The hostess and host were so incredibly kind and obliging, considering my childcare plans changed last minute. Breakfast was fantastic — even my picky and independent toddler ate it! I definitely want to come back. I just didn't have enough time here. It was such a wonderful weekend.

We stayed for one of the murder mystery weekends, and we had a great time! The house is absolutely beautiful, the food was delicious, and the hosts were very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend a stay here!

We had my brother's wedding reception here. The house is beautiful and Mike and Jeanne are awesome. Definitely will go again.

Best B&B we have been to yet. They are absolutely outstanding, everything you bed is available. They are there for whatever you're needs may be. Breakfast was off the charts, we could eat there every morning! Price point, perfect!

Jeanne is a gracious host. The home is a near museum quality Victorian gem set in a quiet and stylish historic neighborhood. The breakfast was well prepared and elegantly served. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We highly recommend it.

This is our first experience at a B&B. HATE hotels, won't stay in one. Very familiar with Carthage, regular visitor. Wanted to treat husband to a special Father's Day, since he keeps asking me to slow down and stop. So, I did. This home is exceptional, the owners are exceptional. We just spent the evening Saturday and this morning and nothing negative can be said. We LOVED it, we plan on going back, ON A REGULAR basis, when time permits. Breakfast was delicious and wholesome and Jeannie is delightful. THE ROOM, was beyond expectations and we never feel comfortable anywhere but home. WE did here. VERY quite, cozy and CLEAN beyond imagination. And the plus is, if you love history like we do, especially Carthage history — — you will love it too. After all, I work in a museum, how could we go wrong? RIGHT? We didn't! Recommend to anyone.

This is a WONDERFUL place to stay! The couple who own and run the bed and breakfast are very friendly and helpful. They keep the beautiful old house in grwat condition and very clean. They are eager and willing to provide for the needs of their guests. We stayed in the Mark Twain Suite, and absolutely loved it! The breakfast was delicious and they make sure to check for allergies before and when you arrive. I would love to come back and stay again!

It was 5 minutes away from where I needed to travel for work. The house is beautiful and the owners are very friendly and hospitable. In the evening, I got to relax on the front porch in the rocking chair enjoying some tea. The Louisa May Alcott room was very lovely with some of the author's books to read which I also enjoyed. Before I checked out the next morning, I had a very good breakfast prepared by the owner. Perfectly presented at a beautiful table. I highly recommend this B&B!

We stayed two nights in a beautiful room on the second floor. The house is everything you might expect of a grand Victorian home in a quaint little town, replete with stainted glass windows, a deep & comfortable front porch overlooking the garden, and cozy details at every turn. Our hosts were gracious & accommodating, & the breakfasts excellent; the quiche was among the best I've had.

Beautiful rooms and wonderful breakfast! We loved the room with the 2 person jacuzzi tub. The covered front porch with rocking chairs for morning coffee was very relaxing. The house itself from 1893 was amazing, with the beautiful furnishings top it all off. The owner was super nice and a genuinely warm person. Hope to stay again soon.

We enjoyed the stay here. Comfortable bed and sweet jacuzzi tub. Conveniently located on a main strip close to everything. House was neatly tastefully decorated with period pieces. Jeanie was super nice and helpful and a GREAT cook. She didn't bother us at all, but was there if we needed info about local stuff, etc. She asked if we had dietary restrictions and respected those. Never had that at a B&B before. I was thankful because I did have a few that she worked around. We would definitely stay here again.

Grand Avenue Bed and Breakfast is a beautiful victorian home located on a safe, quiet street populated with other beautiful old homes and giant shade-giving trees. It boasts of unique, architectural features such as ornate wood working, and original stained glass windows. Though the place houses antique relics and original fixtures, our quarters still felt immaculately clean. Our room was beautiful, functional, and comfortable. A television, dresser, very clean private bathroom, a very comfortable king bed with great sheets, a coffee maker and most any other thing one might need during their stay. On our dresser and nightstand were small booklets of short stories by literary favorites (Twain and Tolstoy to name a few). Our host was kind enough to inquire about our food preferences and we requested something healthy. In the morning we were met with a perfect bowl of oatmeal and a plate of fresh fruit. On the table were all the oatmeal fixins: sliced almonds, coconut palm sugar, and a cinnamon shaker. We were served hot coffee and orange juice as well. Everything was just right. Jeannie was a kind and gracious host. Personable and warm but not overbearing. We found all we needed and more at Grand Avenue Bed and Breakfast! We highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area!

My sister and I stayed at this lovely gracious B&B when we returned (down memory lane) to the small town in which we grew up. The breakfasts were delicious and the ambiance charming. Jeanne, the owner, was always around to assist and provide whatever was desired and even surprised us one evening with a delicious dessert upon returning from a nighttime outing. A problem I've had in the past with B&Bs were the mattresses. No problem here — comfortable bedding and spotless rooms. Would recommend highly!
