As other reviews have stated, the lady in the office was both friendly and informative. You could tell she was proud of her town and was more than willing to share any information she had. It was a Great experience. The room was clean and the bed comfortable (although some of the other furnishing could have been updated). Yes it's true the bathroom is tiny and also dated, but as another reviewer noted, the hotel sits on historic route 66 and its part of the requirements for its registry on the route. Again… clean and comfortable is the dominating traits and you can't beat that for an overnight stay. I had my dog and he was welcomed without hesitation, and with the lake right across the road it was perfect for a good walk. With a scenic and convenient location, this place has plenty to offer for the price. Add to that the friendly staff and you've got a perfect budget friendly accommodation you'll be happy with.

Is quaint little Motel was very accommodating for our last minute needs. The staff was friendly, accommodated our service dog with ease and the rooms were clean the only downside at least for me was the mattress. If you like your mattress firm it would be perfect! Over all nice place!

For our purposes, it was a good night. Not much noise. Decent Wi-Fi and decent breakfast. Staff was friendly.

We love the rural setting and have gotten to know the owners over the past 4 or 5 years.

When traveling, I look for some crucial things. Cleanliness, good matress — pillows & bedding, quietness, courteous owners & staff. This little motel had all of the above! The best night's sleep I've had in a couple days. Thank you.

Very amenable management; great surroundings — lake with fishing; good sized rooms — fridge, HD TV monitor with HDMI port access, fast internet connection; bed comfort fair; tap and shower flow fair.

Small but neat and clean rooms. The owner even got the breakfast items ready early after she found out that we had to leave very early the next day. Very quiet and lovely Lake right next door.

Nice place. Clean, was able to get and stay warm. Has a clean bathroom. The beds are nice and soft. They offer breakfast and coffee. They have plenty of water. The staff is nice, they are very friendly. If you're traveling by and need a place to stay, I'd recommend giving this your business.

Made the mistake of paying for two nights because that's how long we were in town. When we pay for the room, please don't give me a history of the town unless I ask for it, I was sore and tired, and too polite to walk away. But thank you for the brochures. First impression was the terrible smell that filled the room. The bed tore up my back really bad. The lamp wasn't even plugged in on one side of the bed, there was no clock in the room at all, had to use our own phones just to know the time. The room phone was no where near the bed. It was near the hobbit bathroom! Tall people beware! The shower was so short it aimed around our shoulders. The heater had not been turned on all year yet, so welcome to that other bad smell. I don't think the rooms price or the politeness of the owners is enough for me to come here again, much less recommend it to anyone. Sorry.

I drive a little farther to stay here. Great room, excellent vibe, recreation within walking distance, and a few free calories for breakfast. Cant beat the price.

The staff is outstanding, clean, confortable, and very affordable.

This (Hartage-Budget Inn) is a very simple, yet clean and efficient place, I stayed with my wife, 2.5 baby gal and mom, while driving to STL from OK, but I realized this is even a perfect place for a 2-3 days of fishing or just resting next to beautiful lake. STaff are super nice and guess what: I forgot my bag of personal care and expensive perfume, they shipped to me and I just paid USPS fee, very nice caring people DO NOT confuse this with other Budget in in the area (not as good at all), make sure you get the one in Hartage!

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. They even have a small breakfast in the office in the morning. I will be staying here on my way back to Minnesota.
