Awesome hotel! Great staff, great atmosphere!

Excellent Stay at the hotel. However the service for dining was quite disappointing. My husband and I were seated immediately and apparently forgotten about after 45 minutes of waiting to place an order we decided to leave the restaurant and travel the city to find another fine dining experience being we had chosen the Fontaine for a romantic experience this service was quite disappointing. Again all other experience of the stay was absolutely astonishing.

I loved the building, and the room was beautiful; the bed was so comfortable!

We've stayed at the Fontaine several times now and every time it has been one for the books! We love this place and its wonderful staff. Keep up the great work :)

Oof. Just checked in… dust everywhere in the room… walls aren't even painted and the cabinet literally hanging on by a thread. If you want luxury… avoid. They couldn't even bother to dust at all. What a disappointment for nearly $300/night.

Terrible experience staying here for our anniversary. We picked this hotel for the rooftop pool and were not even able to use it. There were signs everywhere for the pool being only for people staying there and there were about 100 people at it. There was no where to sit and no room in the pool. No social distancing measures were taken. We were ignored by staff and it was not the experience we were hoping for. They did not clean our room and when we requested more towels and soap, we had to wait over 2 hours and had to ask multiple times. One of the elevators was broken and our sink did not drain well. It's like staff new our stay was bad because when we checked out we were not even asked how our stay was. We will not be going back and would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed there last night (1/25/20) for our 10 year anniversary and everyone was so welcoming and helpful! Our suite was beautiful and spacious, they picked us up from our dinner reservations and the breakfast was delicious! Such a relaxing experience. I highly recommend staying here… we would have enjoyed another night or two ourselves! We will be back.

This was a last second staycation for the Mrs and myself. We decided to try this hotel and we were overly amazed at the service, the bar and the overall experience. Would recommend 6 out of 5 stars!

Beautiful hotel with exceptional staff. Breakfast at The Parker restaurant with its pretty view was a special treat. A very easy quick walk to get to anywhere on the Plaza you want to visit. Will return.

Noisy room, plus I left to shop and came back with my room door OPEN and no hotel staff in sight… and there was plenty we had already bought shopping in the room that anyone could have taken. Inexcusable! I was told someone came to check minibar and left it open. Room still not cleaned by 3pm and to top it off tonight my son showered and when it got to my turn… ice cold. Seriously the worst experience I've had in a while. I will not be back.

So far the best stay ever at a hotel. Jay went above and beyond for our stay. The valet service are even friendly. They take care of your car with no worries.

Rooms very clean, staff is friendly! Don’t do the happy hour, the was a ridiculous waste of time iand money. Took 45mi utes to get a thimble drinker and a handful of fried pickles!

If you are going for a relaxing time at the pool… forget it! Very small and loud! Outside guests are allowed because they will party and spend $$. Seems to me they are more interested in making money than taking care of their paying hotel guests. Valet was GREAT!

My husband and I stayed here for our one year anniversary. The location is awesome. But many features were broken or off in our room. One side drawer just didn’t shut, some bathroom lights didn’t work, the curtains were ripped and didn’t hang in the clips for the balcony. We paid for a balcony king suite and I can’t say it was worth the $300+ for one night. But, the down town location and view was great. We also had NO indication the pool was closed & picked the hotel partly for the roof top pool, that was a disappointment. Just wasn’t quite what we had expected.

This is a beautiful hotel. The staff is courteous and helpful. We chose this hotel because we were getting married and wanted to take pictures here. When I called to confirm I said something about taking pictures and found out I needed a permit to do that. The staff had gone for the holiday weekend but went out of their way to find someone to approve or taking pictures. as beautiful as the hotel is and as nice after staff is we will not be staying there again. This hotel is way overpriced! We also ate breakfast in the restaurant which was overpriced for an average meal.

We arrived and said that we wanted to have some happy hour drinks and food before dinner and they said it was fine to sit in the dining room. We did not see our server until right before happy hour ended, and when we told her she was visably frustrated. We insisted and she went to get the menus, coming back to say it wasn't really worth it because happy hour was ending in 5 minutes. We insisted again, and she brought us the bar menu, not the happy hour menu. At this point we got up and ordered our drinks at the bar. The bartender was wonderful and really redeemed the experience for us. Our server continued to be rude all through our appetizers. At that point we decided to have dinner elsewhere. Great place and great drinks, but the service was not very welcoming.

My wife and I really like this hotel. The staff is so friendly. The rooms are very nice and well appointed. The food on the top floor is great for breakfast and romantic for dinner. They even provide taxi vouchers to help get around Country Club Plaza. We will be back!

First of all, I think the front desk staff was polite and courteous (Kim & Jessica)! But housekeeping staff was okay (not very friendly when I asked for extra sheet, pillows, and blankets). The bathroom is very nice except pink mold on the shower floor between tile grouts. I loved the bed and bedding at this hotel but our room was a bit too small. I wished they have a small refrigerator for hotel guests. The one they had for the room was full of liquors and water bottles. There were no room left for any of our food. Lastly, we were looking forward to enjoying the rooftop swimming pool with our kids but it was closed that night due to an incident. Therefore, we couldn’t enjoy the swimming pool and had to wake up our kids early in the morning to use the pool before we check out at 11am. In conclusion, I recommend staying at this hotel at least once to experience the newest hotel in Country Club Plaza area. But I will not stay here again due to the price and service!

Very, very disappointing. My husband and I stayed here for a nice over night evening on the Plaza and this place was so highly rated we stayed here. The valet watched me struggle in six inch heels to get my suitcase out of our car and didn't even hold the door open for us, but followed us expecting a tip. Our king suite with a balcony was extremely underwhelming, and had bobby pins and fake eyelashes stuck everywhere. We then went to the bar and stood right in front of the hostess, and she never acknowledged we were there asking where we could sit. Finally she answered and we sat right at the bar. We then had to wait at least fifteen minutes for a bar tender to wait on us, the bar was not that busy. Another patron asked a waitress for a towel to use at the pool, and he was ignored until she finally told him to go find the towel closet. $300 later and we could have stayed at the Marriott for better service. KC needs something better than The Fontaine.

The hotel is gorgeous and it is in a great location. However, when we arrived they didn't have our reservation on the correct day. It was no problem they said because rooms were available, but the request of a room away from the elevator was lost. Then, the shower didn't get very hot. Other than that the stay was wonderful. We also are at The Parker and it was very good, but not amazing. The hotel is overall gorgeous and very clean.

The Fontaine is such an elegant place to stay. They include a pool-side bar with a selection of appetizers and drinks with a happy hour on certain days. Located on the plaza the views are all spectacular!

I'm not opposed to paying for a nice motel. This is silly though. Very nice but they gave us the wrong room the first night and to compensate gave us a free breakfast coupons which are included anyway and free parking. Then the coupons are only good for high carb, sugary breakfast. Balcony is tiny. Room is small. We've stayed in much nicer hotels with much more included in the price. Just not my thing, I'm a value kind of girl. The valets were super nice.

Very inconsistent experience. With the exception of Sam the bartender's remarkably good customer service, this hotel cannot even come close to competing with others on the Plaza. Although the property is very attractive and stylish, the staff and operations are mediocre at best. There's no excuse to not have towels for the pool on a Memorial Day weekend. Or not enough chairs for everyone at the pool — — and the staff not being empowered or enabled to meet those needs. When the coffee was out in the lobby, we inquired at the downstairs bar about getting refills and were rudely told by a staff member that she was busy. Had a similar experience by the pool when we asked someone for help. "Your server will be with you shortly, " we were told … no smile, no customer service. For the cost of the hotel, the experience is woefully lacking. Inconsistent. Amateur hour in terms of staffing and operations. Again, the only bright spot was the bartender Sam, who was obviously working double shifts because they were understaffed on a predictably busy holiday weekend. Not only were there no towels available at the pool, they were skimpy in the room, also. Very disappointing.

Big expense, little return. The room was dirty. There was a pubic hair on the window sill. When the maid cleaned the room, she took dirty towels and didn't replace. My family of 4 had to share 1 towel. The parking garage was a nightmare. The tollbooth didn't work the first night. We had to call to open the gate. Worked great the next day. Then didn't work again. When we called, they hung up. Called again, no answer. Called again, with a line forming behind us. They wouldn't just open the gate. They actually sent a security guard to see if we were telling the truth. Security guard verified it wasn't working, after a 10 minute wait, then called to open gate. They hung up on her. She called back, and finally we could go. We won't stay there again.

We stayed here last night for our anniversary. The traditional king looked far more impressive online than it was in person. Not worth what they’re charging for sure as the hotel itself was not impressive, had bad odors in the elevators, things like that. The room was fine, don’t get me wrong. But it was nothing more than an average room. I know location has some to do with the price, but it’s not worth the heavy price tag of the stay. That all being said, I was just going to… do a 3 star review. However, upon check out (not check in), we were told we were being charged $18 for parking in the garage under the hotel. I had the feeling that this place was being shady as it was, such as no pricing anywhere for the mini bar, but then this confirmed it. We were never told about the additional parking charges (I know, probably in the fine print somewhere, but still)! So this started my day today off badly being told they’re charging me MORE for this stay I was already not happy with. I know the manager will probably get on here and give some crap response and tell me to contact them. But there should be no reason that I need to contact them again. If they want to make it right, they have my information. We come to KC a few times a year for a night away, and we can guarantee that we will not be coming back to the Fontaine. Ever. If you’re looking for a recommendation for a good place to stay at a good price, to the the Drury Inn on Metcalf where we usually stay.

Great hotel. Very nice atmosphere and a comfortable stay. Friendly and welcoming staff. Everything you can want in a hotel. Don't expect things to be cheap though.

Great get-away! We spent the night here and enjoyed drinks by the pool, then a delicious dinner with a view at Parker at The Fontaine. All staff were wonderful and very accommodating. The room was great — loved the bathrobes. Would highly recommend!

Everything about my stay at The Fontaine was delightful. The location is great, with the Plaza outdoor shopping district nearby, abundant with high end shops and restaurants, and some beautiful landmarks like the Kauffman Gardens nearby. The staff was kind and accommodating, and my single King room was not only comfortable, but had all of the right amenities for my single night stay. I checked in and out with zero problems, and was well rested for my day-long professional engagement. Highly recommend it!

Incredibly friendly staff, clean hotel, nice rooms, bar with a fireplace, and great hot chocolate and buffet breakfast. My one note would be that the music is so loud, especially during the live music events — please turn this down! It's small space, and it ruins the evening ambience. Also, restaurant that's part of the Fontaine is decent, but the staff and food there could definitely improve to be on par with the rest of the hotel.

Average experience for a "luxury" hotel. The hotel is very plain, lots of bare walls and feels very cold. Not much for amenities. The balcony rooms aren't worth it unless you like looking at intersections, and the restaurant and bar are average at best, offering a limited food and drink menu. We had an appointment scheduled at Spa on Penn, as the Fontaine provides transportation to the spa. The front desk called a car for us (taxi) and when we hopped in, the driver ask for our voucher. They didn't give us a voucher, so we went back in the hotel and due to the line, because only one person was working the front desk, we had to wait and missed our appointment. Also, we asked when we checked in what time the lobby restaurant opened for breakfast and were told 6 am everyday. We got up early Sunday morning and went down for breakfast to find out they open at 7 on Sundays. Not a good experience at this hotel. Look elsewhere for your stay, there are plenty of better options on the Plaza.

What a beautiful hotel! Everything was spotlessly clean and the decor was funky! We ate at the restaurant on the 7th floor and the meal was delicious. My daughter’s fiancé is a chef — she knows good food! — she said her steak was among the best she’s ever had. (And she’s dined at some very fine places! ). Our server had lived in Sonoma county and helped with our wine selection — her suggestion was perfect! And she was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. It was one of the best dining experien we’ve had. I would definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant — I can’t wait to have a more extended stay.

Very good hotel in the Plaza area in Kansas City, MO.

We went during KC Restaurant Week. We were seated by the fireplace which created a beautiful ambiance. All of the food was delicious. 1000% recommend the Cane Sugar Donuts for dessert! My wife ordered 2 different cocktails and loved both ("Boots with the Fur" and a Polly's Pop highball made with brown butter bourbon & cream soda).

Clean, modern style hotel which earns itself a solid 4 stars. Also the shower was one of the nicest, biggest rainfall showers we had experienced. The missing star is because after parking in the parking garage, we went to the designated elevator for the hotel. It was buzzing and seemed to be out of service. We had to call the front desk (who took their sweet time before picking up) to figure out where to go. The room is nice, though missing artwork and any wall decor, but the air ventilation was so loud and we couldn't find a way to turn it off when we wanted to sleep. The in room coffee creamer was cheap dry packets — no small liquid creamers or half and half. On Google I had read that there was a complimentary European breakfast. This is not true. The breakfast buffet costs $14 and Continental costs $10. All in all, it is a clean hotel that tries to be fancy by not including any amenities, which seems to really say "hospitality is not our forte".

Lovely hotel located in The Plaza area. Helpful staff and front desk. Rooms are spacious and the beds are comfy. Large bathroom with a great shower. Room service was fast and the coffee hot! I would stay there again when visiting KC.

Stayed a Saturday night with a late check in. Entry into into the underground parking was difficult to find at first due to the surrounding one way boulevards. Front desk staff was friendly and accommodating. Our room was on the first floor very near the lobby which was disappointing. We were hoping for a much better view, but our windows were situated right next to one of the parking entryways and an adjacent apartment complex. Room was quite stark and not very well decorated. Bathroom and shower were spacious. Bed and sofa were adequately comfortable.

Stayed in a double room — which really should have featured two queen beds instead of full sized. The room was clean but the water glasses were not! The rooftop restaurant/ bar seemed more like a lounge, & featured a great view of the plaza& pool. The pizza however was about 12"x4", cost $11 and was terrible! Overall not a bad experience, staff were all friendly& helpful, the location is great, writhing walking distance to plenty of shopping & dining.

Beautiful hotel and 99% of the staff was attentive and kind. My only complaint is when my husband and I walked into the bar no one greeted us. Two waitresses walked right by and did not acknowledge us as if we weren't worth their time. High recommended.

Very sleek, comfortable hotel and almost universally great staff. Only issue was rooftop bar. A great space, great atmosphere. But the bartender was unbelievably rude and impersonal. Put a damper on whole experience at the bar. Definitely stay at the hotel, but skip the bar.

Front desk was very nice, the two men that helped us seemed to absolutely love their jobs. The view from the top floor restaurant is very nice. I like how you must have a card key to access the middle levels, it's the small things ya know? Overall the hotel is quite gorgeous. The workers all really seem to love their jobs and would do anything to help you while you stay there.

It's a really nice hotel close to but at the edge of Country Club Plaza. It's within easy walking distance but not too far away. The staff is extremely friendly. The breakfast is also reasonable value.

The restaurant and bar are just okay. For such an upscale place you'd think there would be a swanky cocktail list and a complex menu, but it's honestly just average. The restaurant was also okay, but not great. The service was great however. I'd go again and may have a better experience with adjusted expectations. It is a quieter atmosphere and I do appreciate that aspect of this place.

We went with our 3 kids (7, 2, 1 years old). We swam in the pool (they brought our kids some juice and brought us cocktails),
had room service (they made incredible mac and cheese for our kids) and the our food was really good (I'd come back just for the fried chicken),
and they had a pack n' play for our youngest. It was a perfect experience for us as adults, and the perfect experience for our kids. I always love high-experiential places that treat kids as normal guests.

Our stay was pretty nice, however there was a few things that bothered us. When we arrived at the check-in time, our room was not ready like it was supposed to be and we had to wait an hour and a half before it was ready. However, they gave us each one free drink vouchers for the bar while we waited. Then, when we were taken to our room, there were dirty dishes sitting right outside of our door just under the room number. They were left there for at least an hour after that. Not sure why housekeeping left them there as they were hard to miss. And lastly, one of the lamps in our room would flicker quite often. It almost had like a scary movie kind of sound to it. Other than those things it was a pretty nice stay and everyone there seemed very friendly.

We like to experience new places by using Hotwire, so this was our latest adventure. They couldn't find our reservation, and had no manager working when we arrived with the authority to do anything to fix our situation. Looks nice. Will happily update this review if they end up handling it to our satisfaction. Edited to 4 stars after completing our stay… Update… Totally screwed up our billing after we checked out after assuring us they had it under control. 4 star room, 1 star handling of our reservation.

Very close to the Plaza. Great rooms with a decent amount of space and very large bathroom. Staff has been very helpful. Breakfast was enjoyable eating in the courtyard. It was relaxing spending the evening by the fireman's pool on the roof. Currently they don't have a shuttle service but will give you vouchers for a cab ride up to 5 miles away. With it being in the Plaza, a cab came within a couple of minutes. Recommend this hotel and hope to stay here again.

I absolutely loved The Fontaine. Honestly the place is pricey but well worth. I am happy to spend money for great customer service in a luxury spot. Beautiful hotel and 99% of the staff was attentive and kind. My only complaint is when my husband and I walked into the bar no one greeted us. Two waitresses walked right by and did not acknowledge us as if we weren't worth their time. That was minor compared to the kindness and hard work of each and every other employee. The room was amazing and the shower was quite impressive with lots of space and the rainfall faucet. I highly recommend and I will stay the next time I'm in Kansas City!

This place was called Hotel Sorella. Under new management, it's now called The Fountaine. It's got all the ingredients of great 4-star hotel. It's just that they always seem to mess something up. This time around they only had a room with one bed. We reserved a room with two beds. Kinda' hard to fit a family of four into a single king bed. You can't continue to make these kinds of mistakes and call yourself a 4-star hotel. We probably won't stay here again.

Beautiful hotel! Very welcoming and in such a gorgeous part of town. Easily accessible to lots of great shopping and restaurants.

Went for a lunch meeting and the place was empty except for us. They have a really nice big table for bigger groups, we had 13 and it was spacious and comfortable. Food and service was fine, a little slower than usual for lunch on the plaza.

I have only visited the top story bar and restaurant, Rosso. Here, you'll find exquisite food coupled with an extensive wine and liquor collection. Additionally, the rooftop patio makes an excellent location to relax after a long day of travel. The bar's lounge atmosphere and attentive staff make this an obvious go-to spot for anyone who enjoys a calm yet social environment.

Great staff, room service is actually excellent food, pool party is the scene for sure. I would not come thirsty though because a simple can soda is four bucks, no coke machine on site, the view and location are amazing though. Give it a try.

I was absolutely blown away by the hotel. We were there for our anniversary, and were welcomed by a bottle of Prosecco and chocolate covered strawberries in our room, free of charge! Also with a sweet note! :) The hotel was beautiful, clean, I didn't want to leave! : (which is usually far from it when I'm in a hotel. Drinks were fantastic at happy hour at Bar Rossa! Margarita pizza was out of this world. :) Valet was wonderful. Well worth $18/day. We checked in on a Thursday evening, valet checked it, and just took Uber around town, until we checked out on Saturday morning. Valet service was very quick to bring our car back. Helped load it, and opened the door for me as we left. Thank you so much for making our stay so wonderful, and helping us make memories to remember from our Anniversary trip! We felt SO well taken care of and spoiled on our getaway. If you're looking to feel pampered and relax. Highly suggest staying at Hotel Sorella!

I felt very comfortable, a hotel with lots of charm and very fine attention, its new facilities make you feel at home, excellent!.

Stayed here two nights with my wife for our anniversary. First night was fairly pleasant. Second night was terrible. There was a wedding reception and our room was the floor above. We asked to be moved to a higher floor so we wouldn't be disturbed by the wedding music. The front desk said they could do nothing to help us out. We then spoke with a supervisor who said we could get a $25 credit to our room, which I feel is ridiculous because the room rate was $269 for the night. Very disappointed this is how they treat their customers. The following morning upon checking out the front desk person listened to our complaint and took care of us. After the evening staffs response this was a pleasant surprise and helped alleviate the poor experience from the night.

Service at the resutraunt was excellent. However, I was hoping for a better view from a hotel above the plaza.

Helpful staff, paid special attention to our needs and provided a very comfortable place to sleep. The bedding was really comfortable and the room was quiet with a good view of downtown.

Beautiful hotel and facilities for a Valentine's weekend getaway to KC. Also evidently the hotel of choice for celebrities while they are in KC — I nearly knocked over poor John Cougar Mellencamp (or is it just John Cougar these days? ) in the lobby because I was staring at a woman bearing an uncanny resemblance to Meg Ryan…

Simone was spectacular! The customer service was sublime and I felt quite at home. The interior was breathtakingly beautiful as well, very clean and orderly.

Very nice place for me I am from florida, and very clean omg I am love these places the food mmm very the mmmmmm delicious.

A friend recommended this hotel and we fell in love with it, from walking to all the shops at the plaza to the five star staff. We stayed two days and I'm currently booking an additional two days for a quick weekend get away. If you love a great hotel, with a great staff, in a area that you can walk to everything from shopping to eating, then this is the hotel for you!

My family and I had a really positive experience here earlier today. The bartender knew what he was doing and made an awesome variation of a gin and tonic. The venue was clean and spacious. Overall a real solid experience.

Highly recommend the brunch and mimosas. The view from the restaurant is outstanding, being able to see other rooftops and greenery of Ward Parkway. I imagine once it warms up a bit the pool outside will help with the view, too. The food was good, a solid variety of breakfast staples (eggs, bacon, sausage) with enticing options that you wouldn't make at home (stuffed olive leaves, coconut shrimp) so that it feels like you're getting away from it all, and getting good value for your money. The mimosa flavored were interesting, too, but the classic OJ was our favorite. I would recommend the brunch experience as an event: birthday, anniversary, Mother's Day, etc. Very well done.

We rented a room here for New Years Eve on a good word from some friends. The hotel is beautiful. The room was great, facilities were great, the bed was super comfy, can't complain about any of that at all. The issue I have is with the shuttle service and parking. Let me preface this by saying I know it was New Years Eve, but that wasn't a secret and I feel like a $267/night hotel can afford to run more than one shuttle or at least a larger shuttle to accommodate its guests. The shuttle to downtown worked fine, no issues, it was the return trip. They told us ahead of time there would be a bit of a wait which is fine, we planned for that. When we called at 1:20am for the shuttle they told us it would be 30-45 minutes, which was fine and planned for. 2:20 rolled around and still no shuttle. At this point we called again and were told it could be another 30-45 minutes. We ended up getting a cab back to the hotel. Parking in the garage was also not included, they did however, comp this for us as it was our first time staying there. If the shuttle service would have gone as we were told it would this would be a 5 star review.

Yes, they nickel and dime you, but that's pretty much part and parcel of a 4 Star European hotel chain experience. It is beautifully decorated and makes you feel you could step out of the front door onto the streets of Madrid. Would most definitely recommend and would stay again.

Great looking hotel, very comfy bed and pillows, and love the rainfall shower. No frig, just a frig mini-bar that is electronic charging, a snack bar that has prices listed on table as well. In the room I would only raise the TV to a higher point. When lying in bed, it was very difficult to see since the base of the TV starts lower than the bed. WE parked in the parking garage which the hotel validated. So close to Plaza no need to move car all weekend. Valet parking avail for $18 a day and come and go as much as you want, but we were able to save on that part. Would absolutely stay again.

Posh but with great inconsistencies. They do nickle and dime you. Shuttle service will take you places but will make your retun trip hell. The food is average, at best. The bar is noisey and overpriced. The in house service is excellent and friendly. The room was comfortable and well appointed. I don't think I would comeback here, though. Also, there is nothing special for me to recommend it to others. If you are young you might like the bar scene — — bit of a meat market atmosphere.

Its beautiful, and the location is great. But its a money pit, EVERYTHING costs and costs. Parking is expensive, there is no vending machines at all. But bottled water is $4. The free breakfast is sparce, hectic and uncomfortable. The upstairs bar and restaurant. Again absolutely beautiful but two drinks. $30 wowza. I dont mind spending money for quality but this place milks every penny from you and offers very little. We wont be back.
