For the money Paid I would have been better off sleeping in the bed of my truck. Room was filthy, Stains on the top covers of the beds. They do NOT provide soap or shampoo unless you wanna pay $1.50 out of a vending machine. The heater isn't working and was told to come to office to get new bed sheets because the ones on the bed weren't clean. Cops show up in force as there were 3 cars looking for someone in the hotel. KEEP DRIVING! THIS MOTEL SUCKS! If there trying to keep the lights on for travelers, it's a very dim light… more like a dirty candle. Very QUESTIONABLE quests living here, not travelers. The building is about a 50 footer. Which means as you get closer the worse it gets. I'm adding on to this as I keep finding things. So, went to replace the bed sheets and the mattress is stained and dirty. I've put 3 layers of sheets on. Shower is dirty and I would advise to wear flip flops while showering. If I could give negative stars this place would be at least a 4 minus!

Let me start by saying, I love Tasha (Mgr) and Stephanie. I have stayed here several times and they are so welcoming, friendly, kind, and they remember you and treat you like extended family. I’ve always had a comfortable stay, in clean rooms, the heat and air have always worked. And they have always had hot water. Yay! The rates are usually the best in the area. They give you what you pay for. A quiet, clean, no frills room, with a comfy bed. I find it’s better there than the Hilton. Here’s where the big points come in: they have always accommodated my cat. They even ask if I brought her every time I’ve stayed.

Comfortable. Stephanie called to tell me that when they were cleaning the room they found my tablet and that they would hold it at The office for me. The staff was friendly and helpful. Kudos to Stephanie! The building needs paint, the bathroom shower and toilet must have leaked at one point, the floor had water stains. Needs better room darkening curtains, the sun wakes you up at 6:00. Not the most appealing looking motel 6 I've stayed at. But they are pet friendly, reasonable and a great staff.

The young lady at the front desk was very polite and professional. My first room was a nonsmoking room but wreaked of smoke. I called the office and she immediately apologized and got me a new room. That room was fine but the shower had hair in it which makes me think they didn't even clean it. There is no way if they cleaned it they could not have noticed. The motel is on a great location.

It was barely good enough to live. My brother told me a commercial about this motel and it was slightly a lie. There wasn't enough soap the wash.

No water pressure in the shower. Shower head wasn't even high enough for partners head to go under. $3 for Wi-Fi. No fridge. Air conditioning didn't even cool the room while on high. Worst motel 6 we have ever stayed in.

Great price. Had a room by the pool. Kids loved it. Only reason for 4 stars is the A/C didn't work the first night.

We requested a handicap accessible, non-smoking room for three nights. We only stayed two nights because we could no longer tolerate the stinky room (it REEKED of smoke) or the unbelievably nasty attitude of the woman at the lobby office. We asked that our room be cleaned and it wasn't despite the cleaning personnel being aware of our request and working on the room next to ours. We paid for internet access and then were told that we didn't pay and would need to pay again in order to get online. We finally went to the office for about the 4th time and just asked to have our payment for the final night refunded so we could leave and go to a different, cleaner, friendlier motel for a lower price. We had stayed at that particular Motel 6 several years ago and it was excellent. We stayed this time and it was a disaster. The people running it now have turned it into the kind of dump that no respectable people will use. You ought to send someone to inspect it and see what a disaster it is. If people think all Motel 6 locations are like this one you will find yourselves out of business. We believe we should have been given a refund for all the nights we stayed there since we never did get a clean room, replacement of used towels, a non-smoking room or anything else we asked for when we made the reservation.

This motel 6 is nice and very easy to get to and around town. We stayed to establish residency for our drivers licenses and then found out that we needed our new address on the receipt but we had already checked in with our old address. Stephanie at the front desk knew exactly what we needed and was able to fix our receipt so that we didn't waste an extra day figuring this out. Both Christian and Hanna also at the front desk went the extra mile to help us out on our trip and point out interesting things to see and do on the way.

My wife and I stay at Motel 6 fairly often as they are pet friendly and convenient. This location was great. Right off the highway close to restaurants and shopping for anything you need. What makes this location stand out was the staff. The girl that checked us in was amazingly helpful! She was able to give us directions of where we were heading. Helped us fill out some paperwork properly for South Dakota DMV. I can't say enough about how great she was. The room was perfect. Exactly why you come to Motel 6. Just a clean place to rest your head after a trip. Goodness the water pressure in the shower was such godsend. Wow. I took 3 showers in one day just because of it. Thank you Rapid City Motel 6.

Good place not too expensive near the highway and in the center of everything that there is to visited in this corner.

After a very poor experience with a neighboring company, it was very refreshing to come to a company so friendly and understanding when it comes to extenuating circumstances. There will never be enough words to express my gratitude for facilitating my needs for the remainder of my time spent in South Dakota. Keep up the great works guys and don't lose those smiles!

I always pick motel 6 because they're always pet friendly, and my two and are accustomed to having their own bed. This one is my favorite motel 6 I've been to. Fastest check-in ever, very friendly staff, very nice rooms, and a nice patch of grass right outside the door.

Got stuck in Rapid City during a snow storm. Motel 6 was able to put my family up at a very good rate. I'm very happy with the beds, being disabled with a horrible back and with a child with Cerebral Palsy we both slept great. So happy this place is here.

The original room they gave us, had no bed sheets. There was cleaning products all over the room the mattress looked like it had been urinated on several times. The second room was disgusting. The bedding was dirty. The comforter had semen stains all over, it had cigarette burns. The bathroom was dirty. The fridge made loud noise all night we had to in plug it. The towels were like sand paper. There was mold in the shower. I will never stay here again.

It was a quick trip for me and I had two rescue dogs with me. It was cheap and dogs were welcomed. I was not expecting much for $45 a night. Room was dirty, sheets and comforter were stained but again I wasn’t expecting a 5star hotel for $45 a night.

When I walked in to check into a room I was greeted at the front desk by a very nice girl, Shanna I believe was her name. She was super friendly and accommodated all my needs for a room that night. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience!

I was coming from out of town to get a cheap hotel that I could crash the nights in, and there was a little blonde girl, I think it was Hannah; it was her second day and she checked me in, and made me fell very welcomed. All the staff is so nice. Would recommend to anyone who loves great customer service.

The outside of the property looked nice. The lobby and the rooms reeked of cigarette smoke. Our bedding smelled as if we were sleeping in an ash tray. We are not smokers. It was hard to even walk near the lobby without becoming overtaken by the strong smell. The sink in our room would not drain and was not clean. We asked to have it fixed and it wasn't and no attempt to move rooms or amend the situation took place even though the place was nearly empty. The shower was filthy and the only clean place in the shower was the spot where the soap had been previously placed. There is no value in staying in an inexpensive motel if the place is unsanitary. We have had good experiences at Motel 6 in the past.

I rented a room here for two nights because it was the most cost-effective motel in Rapid City. I should have known better; my stay at this hotel was miserable. After asking for a room facing away from I-90, my room faced it directly. The bed was rock-hard and there were no basic expectations for a hotel, such as soap. If you want a cheap room and nothing more, this is the place. If you want a hotel that you can return to at night and enjoy your purchase, avoid Motel 6 Rapid City.

Lost item not returned! — I called shortly after our stay and informed the clerk that I had left behind my phone charger, clerk took my name and number, and next day, a Manager called, asked me for my credit card # so she could ship the charger to me. Now been two weeks, no charger still. So I call, now the charger is nowhere to be found? Why was I called for my credit card to ship it to me? If they didn't have it. Low budget, low service… you truly get what you pay for here…

To noise and lacked cleanliness.

I booked my first five days online. I chose Motel 6 because you are pet friendly and the lowest cost in the area at the time. The front desk clerks we're very polite and helpful. The room needed to be renovated. There was a nasty stain on the shower floor, like it has never been cleaned. There was black mold all over the shower wall and the bathroom fan was coming away from the wall. The rest of the room was fairly clean. House keeping only showed up three times out of a ten night stay. This bothered me deeply and said something to the front desk at check out. They gave an excuse that the house keeping crew was new. I do not buy this. House keeping should visit every stay over daily. This shows that you care about your guests. Not to mention, my cat got a urinary track infection during the stay. He had to have a surgical procedure done last night and is staying two days due to a blockage in his urinary tract. I don't know at this time if there is a connection but it is odd for the time. The vet bill will be $1030.56. At this time I would not recommend the Rapid City Motel 6 because it needs a overhaul and a good cleaning.

The room was updated which was nice. They provided a good TV with dish channels. The bed was a little uncomfortable but we slept well anyway. The location was great, it was close to food and the freeway. Overall it was an enjoyable stay and I'd stay there again if I were ever in the area.

When I made the reservation, the people were very accommodating and nice. This is the only reason I gave two stars. I arrived at about 10:00 in the evening. I booked two beds, ground floor, refrigerator/microwave. Someone was going to stay with me that was on crutches maybe even a wheelchair and 2 dogs. The first room they gave me had never been cleaned from the last person. Then they offered a room upstairs (that could not work with a disabled person) and the only choice they had left was a room with one bed. No air conditioning (of course they did not tell us that). They turned it off and for two days of my 4, the temp got to 80's. The ceiling above the sink was falling in and the door handle to open the door constantly stuck. So, awful in the heat, the noise was horrible by a freeway, so leaving the windows open was unpleasant. I stay at motel 6's ofen. Never again at this one — it's terrible. Several people left, but rooms were at at premium because 3 events were happening in Rapid City. Also, the person who was to share the room couldn't — one bed, so my cost went up for me to have to pay all of it making it not really cost effective. Should have been told the air was turned off, should have cleaned the room for me to have that evening or checked the room before having me go to it — disgusting. I would ask for a refund but doubt that would go anywhere based on how this hotel was run. Very disappointed in Motel 6 standards in Rapid City, SD.

The room appearance was excellent. Motel was recently renovated and looked very modern and pleasing. Was very excited to see this. However, the air conditioning was old and did not work properly. Room was very hot and we did not get a good nights sleep as a result. It's a shame because the bed was very comfortable. Perhaps, we were just unlucky and got a room that, by chance, had a problem with the A/C and most rooms were OK. Don't know if all rooms had bad A/C or not, so cannot judge the whole motel by our experience.

It was fine. We are traveling for the first time with our dogs and find your pet friendly policy great, thanks. The room is bare bones but I don't need much. The Staff was great, and helpful. I'll be staying in 3 more of your locations in the next couple days.

We stayed for two nights in two different rooms. The shower units in both rooms were disgusting. There was black mold growing in both of them. They both need to be replaced. The flooring in both rooms was extremely outdated, unattractive, and paint had been spilled and splashed on it along the edges. The units need to be remodeled! The beds in both units were as hard as a rock. The first room had an odor coming from the fan/heating/cooling vent. My husband and I were not happy!

I booked a non-smoking room with 2 double beds and air conditioning. When I arrived to check in, the room that I had reserved was no longer available. They had reserved rooms that had already been sold out. The personnel were not very sympathetic or helpful in trying to accommodate me and my family. They offered a different room (with no air conditioning) at a reduced rate, however, the room was not clean.

It would have been nice to have a fridge and micro wave. We stayed for 4 nights with a dog that needed her food and meds refrigerated. Although the girls offered to keep it in their fridge, that would have been a hassle to retrieve it 2x a day, so we managed to keep it chilled with the ice you offered, although I had to make frequent trips to the vending room as you were out of ice several times. And again, we stayed 4 nights, and it would have been so nice to be able to prepare sandwiches, etc. For meals, and NOT to have to eat out all the time. For the price we paid per night I definitely expected the conveniences of a fridge and microwave in our room. Otherwise, the staff was friendly and helpful, and respected our wishes of our privacy to not clean our rooms during our stay. Thank you.

They've completely redesigned and rebuilt the rooms (in the two Motel 6's I visited on this trip — can't know if they've done ALL motels yet). The designs are very efficient, nicely laid out — better beds, all up-to-date, clean and just overall excellent. No frig, no microwave, but no top-dollar prices either! (Microwave and lots of ice available in the common area near the office. )

Staff was very friendly and helpful. We were on a cross-country trip and this was the only place that went out of their way to say hello to our dogs and give them treats. Room was nice, as was pool, location is great. Bathroom design was odd, but it was a bathroom and clean and everything worked. It would be nice to have coffee maker/fridge in room, but I understand it's a way to keep costs down. Great visit, thank you.

Everyone is kind and helpful. It is your place home away from home. Love it. This motel helped when my cousin broke her hip on vacation here. I'm familiar with the Motel 6 commercials on TV and the radio as I'm sure most people are. I found myself needing a room for the night to catch an early flight the next day. It was Friday night and I knew I would have to pay a higher rate so I chose a nearby Motel 6. I was given a room that was supposed to be a non smoking room… it reeked like a used ashtray. The bed spread was stained and in a couple of spots it looked like blood. I'm not a very large person, but I felt like I had barely any room in the shower to bathe. Had I been a man of about 6' 200lb I would have been hard pressed to get clean. This would have been even harder given that the shower stall was absolutely atrocious… there was mold and mildew all over the walls and frame of the stall. The floor was water stained under the flooring material… I imagine part of the reason is the shower head was cracked near the thread attachment and water shot out at this point, over the top of the stall wall and landing on the floor. Over all I was terribly disappointed. I was not expecting the kind of accommodations you might get at a place that charged $500 a night. What I was expecting were pleasant surroundings that were clean and serviceable without being ostentatious. What I got was a room that looked and felt like the police crime scene tape had just been removed.

I didn't expect much from a Motel 6, just a place to sleep for a few hours during a long drive for work. Unfortunately, I didn't even get that. My newly "renovated" room was dirty and apparently either was renovated from used materials or only had a new sink installed. The non-smoking room smelled so strongly of smoke I could hardly sleep. Someone in a room nearby was playing very loud music after 1 am, and the walls were paper thin, so noise travelled well. The only reason I gave 2 stars instead of one was that the front desk attendants at the Rapid City location were stellar.

Overall, we were satisfied, because the rate was so low and we needed a pet-friendly motel. The heater seemed to be just on-off, with no in-between settings. A couple walls needed a bit more attention to cleaning and the towels are a bit scratchy. The bed was comfortable. No shampoo/conditioner is provided.

It looked nice inside and a good price but the rooms had no dryer and I was soaked when I arrived. Also my room had a bad sink and toilet and the shower had a crack where I was standing. Charging extra for Wi-Fi seemed excessive.

I don't know how any reasonable person could give this dump more than one star. Perhaps when they finish the upgrade it may be better but don't count on it. Room I received was dirty sheets were just remade from previous occupant, hell even the windows didn't shut all the way. Pay more go somewhere else!

Stayed here in 2011 for Sturgis. Reasonably priced, clean room, friendly staff. Had a motorcycle washing area and plenty of rags. Rider friendly!

I love staying in hotels, and I have to say this was the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Outside there was cigarettes and trash everywhere. Inside the room there was bugs under the pillows on both beds, so I asked for clean bedding. No maid showed up to change it, so finally I asked the front desk lady to bring me bedding and I'd change it myself. She did, and once I pulled the thin sheets off the mattress I was completely disgusted! Huge Brown spots covered the middle of the beds! I showed her and she said, um, let me get you some mattress pads. It was awful! The bathroom had mold all over the walls surrounding the cheap plastic shower stall. I do not recommend this hotel unless your looking for a place to rent for the house or have a party. Gross.

My wife and I traveled to the Rapid City area to sight see and take in all the beautiful things to see in that area. We are very familiar with Motel 6, because we have stayed in them all over the majority of the U. S. The Rapid City Motel 6 was a very pleasant experience. The staff was great and very helpful, the room was totally clean, and the bathroom was just as nice. Our 1st impression when we opened the room (227) was wow this is really nice. I always read reviews before I buy anything or before I rent a room for a few days. I read plenty of reviews on this particular Motel 6 and it really did get a bad rap. At least as far as our room was concerned. If other rooms were comparable to ours they were nice enough to satisfy (most). I do recommend this place in Rapid City as a place to stay it is simply worth the money. :-)

We went to see Mt. Rushmore and I made Reservations for two nights online preferring an ADA room as I travel with medical equipment and two service animals. I needed a refer for insulin as well. We wound up with a smokers room ('I'm on Oxygen) on the Interstate side (Noisy from traffic). Our room needed maintenance, molding on floor was being held to the wall with blue painters tape. You had to body slam the entry door because the top and middle hinges were sprung to get the door to open. (I use a cane to walk and fell once doing this). There was mold on the bathroom ceiling and the bathroom floor was badly stained around the toilet. To get hot water at the bath sink, turn it on and walk away for awhile (I had to shave with cold water). We had one double bed and with my wife and I we fought to stay covered as the blankets/sheets were probably made for a full size. The A/C worked great and we used Freebreeze to cut down the cigarette smell. The TV was an older analog style but worked fine. You have to pay for Wi-Fi here ($2.99 for 1mbps/ night) but be careful, when I checked my online banking I was overcharged compared to the receipt, I know of no recourse for a refund of the overcharge, and I did tell the front desk about it when checking out. (I was blown off of course). You would think for a $100 per night, you would get better quality. I must admit this motel was cheap compared to other motels in the area.

I checked into this hotel and found a room filled with flies and a bed with bed bugs filled with another guest's blood. We immediately cleared our belongings out of the room and inspected for any bed bug hitchhikers as we were only there for about ten minutes. I took one of the live bed bugs to the office and demanded a refund were I talked to a rude staff member who made a couple phone calls and decided that continuing to check in guests was more important. Eventually a manager showed up and initiated a refund no questions asked. Apparently it take 7-10 days to receive a refund so hopefully it will complete soon. I have stayed at many Motel 6 locations appreciating the value they present and never found anything like this. Avoid this location.

This place sucks! stayed here 8/2/15 through 8/6/15 never again! staff is rude, shower door had to be slammed, floors were filthy, white socks turned black! $3 a day for useless internet, no coffee pot, nothing, bed was terrible I didn't sleep more than 2 hours straight at a time, showers go hot/cold/hot/cold, limited cable TV, I stayed here in 2011 for the rally and it was 100% better what happened? OH yea new staff right? Get rid of them! Except the young dark girl on swing 8/2/15 or 8/3/15 she was the best part of a rotten stay, nothing good to say, 1 of 2 ice machines didn't work, I didn't talk to anyone who was happy with this place and some come every year and have been and they think the same thing, Pay a little more and stay somewhere else, even the roach motel is better! Signed a lost customer from any motel 6!

Well I can honestly say it was one of the worst nights ever! First I booked a non smoking room and I got smoking, then the lock on the door wasn't working correctly and the girl at the desk said they all are the same but sorry can't help you until tomorrow when maintence guy comes in, then half the lights didn't work plus the room was so small that we could hardly fit with luggage and the beds where so hard our backs where killing us the next day! Would never recommend this place to anyone!

In the room (non-smoking) it has a strong stench (because of air conditioning). Also towels smell after that. On 2. Day, the key card no longer. Beds were not made because pajama darauflag. Wi-Fi costs and is also cumbersome and slow…

We got to our room only to find out that it was a Smoking Room, ewww! The bedsheets had burn holes, there was nicotine all over the walls and drapes, even the towels felt somewhat slimy. We trekked down to the front office to ask to be moved to a Non-Smoking Room as I am allergic to smoke, but were told they were "booked solid" and there was nothing we could do except find another motel. We didn't want to be staying at a separate location from my family and were weary from driving for hours, so we stuck it out. When we went down the next day to talk to the manager, she blamed it on the booking company (unprofessional) and said they were still "full, " so we stayed another night in the Smoking Room. By the 3rd morning, we went down and she got us transferred to a Non-Smoking Room (or so we thought, read on…). The front desk girl said the room wasn't cleaned yet, so could we please leave all our luggage in our vehicle for the day. I informed her that no, we couldn't, because we were sharing a passenger van with my family and there wasn't room, but we agreed to leave the luggage in my cousin's room. On the way up, I checked our new keycards to make sure they opened the Non-Smoking Room, which they did. We went out and spent time with our family and didn't get back to the motel until about 10PM, whereupon our keycards would no longer work in the door. So we returned our luggage to our cousin's room and went again to the front office.

Our computer reservation was not in the hotel computer but our counter person got us booked and found that the day we made our reservation we were booked as a no-show and our credit card billed. She corrected the mistake, got us into a room and was very helpful with problems we had with the Wi-Fi. Delores was great. The 5 stars are for the person who provided us service at the check in counter…

Cheapest hotel in the area. They charge PER PERSON so just say 1. Saves $6 per +tax! Room was clean and tidy. Recently remodeled room was a plus. They offer no shampoo, just an FYI. For being the cheapest option it worked just fine.

Not very clean. Smoking room when begged for a non-smoking room. Was not cheap either. A lot of undesirables at this location. Wish I had spent some more money elsewhere after I couldn't get the ashtray smoker stink out of my nose for a couple days. Not a fun experience. Didn't look as bad during the day time.

Front desk was very kind and professional, though my initial room was "literally 100+ degrees" upon checking in, and there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. My only option for climate control, was to relocate to another room on the "cooler side" of the building. Clientele is questionable, but I suppose at $45 for 1 person (tax included), that is to be expected. I didn't have any problems to speak of.

Did you know a motel should have HEAT, at a minimum, when it is 12 degrees out? I called the front desk and there was no concern. I went to another motel across the street at 1am and was treated very well and had HEAT. It's South Dakota in December, people. The internet didn't work and the room was dirty also.

Air condition did not work. Front desk had good communication skills.

One in the morning in October and I can sleep because it it's a hundred degrees in a room with no ac. I'd rather sleep in my truck than here.

In the battle for low priced hotels that maintain a $50 price point the longest, this place easily beats the Travelodge I was at the night before. This Motel 6 has remodeled rooms with clean walls, nice floors, sinks, showers, and flat screen samsung tvs. The other place. Not so much. And their hot tub was not hot thus useless. The Motel 6 also had quieter rooms. Other nearby hotels. Microtel was $99 and Americinn $70 and they tack on a resort fee. One downside to Motel 6 is that it was hard to cool the room off even in September with the thermostat set to "cool" and the outside temp being much cooler. A fan blowing air in from the window would have cooled faster. If you believe paying $100 or more a night to sleep is a waste of money, this Motel 6 is a surprisingly good choice. Check out is at noon. Coffee served in the lobby in the AM. If you want donuts I suggest a short drive to "jerry's. ".

Very uncomfortable and out dated. The bed is hard as a rock, the pillows feel like they came from the dollar store. The shower barely fits 1 person. No blankets, just a cheap sheet to sleep with. Not recommended.

When I booked my room I said 2 adults soooo when I checked in they said only one adult so they tacked on another 9 bucks, I had a queen one bed only. At 90.00 its not a good value even with the free cup of coffee in the morning. Go to Mircotel.
