To my delight my room was clean and neat. The bed was comfortable enough and once everyone got settled in around us it was very peaceful and quiet. Sat outside the room at sunset and had a enjoyable experience.

Great place, clean comfortable and very friendly. Plus they had live music every night. We will definitely stay there again.

Great place to stay! Friendly staff, clean room, & comfortable bed. The evening entertainment & the lady with the miniature horse & dogs in the golf cart “the dog & pony show” were awesome! Went to Cody Steakhouse for an amazing meal. And the drive from Cody to Yellowstone east entrance on US 14 is beautiful!

We love staying here! The owners are super friendly! The rooms are clean and comfortable! We love the pool and the horse rides! If we don’t get to see cookie man, it’s just not the same! Highly recommend this place!

Big Bear Motel was great! They had a playground for the kids and plenty of room for our family! Everything was clean and the staff was so friendly!

A fun unique place to stay. A bit more rustic. The horse rides, live music, outdoor pool, and family oriented facility made for a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this for families.

What a great place to stay, very clean and great hosts. I had to bring my horse up to the Yellowstone Equine Hospital just across the street and they were great to me and I had to stay longer and it was no problem. I would give Big Bear 5 STARS! Thanks to all your staff!

If you don’t mind feeling like you went back in time a few decades, Big Bear Motel will get the job done for you. It’s not very modern, not even the decor. Our heater seemed very old and we really had to crank it to stay warm along with lots of blankets… BUT we were also in one of their biggest rooms (if not THE biggest), so there was a lot of space to heat. Not only that, but we were very recent ex-Californians at the time experiencing our first sub-30 degree weather in years, so it’s possible we were just sissies. That being said, our room was pretty clean. Aside from a flat screen tv, there were no other notable amenities, but all we really needed was a place to close our eyes for the night, so we didn’t mind. The staff (and/or owners) were very friendly. Definitely nothing to complain about on that front. All smiles and courtesy. I got the impression they really take pride and enjoyment in making their guests happy. The proximity to Yellowstone is obviously an added convenience. If you’re in the area and need a place to stay in a pinch, Big Bear Motel might not blow you away, but it’ll get the job done without giving you any serious problems to complain about.

This place was perfect! Nice rooms with plenty of room for all of the kids. Pet friendly, although we didn’t bring ours. They have where you can ride on a horse around the pool as well. Very beautiful location! We loved it!

Friendliest staff I ever saw, on top of the several different activities you can enjoy. The ole mare that was there is awful gentle for ones who haven’t rode or have little experience riding. You can take golf cart rides there if you please as well. It’s close to many attractions in Cody, namely the rodeo.

We arrived at Big Bear Motel at 10:30 PM on a Wednesday evening. They do wait up for you when you have a reservation. The staff is friendly and the room was very clean with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Nice comfortable large room. Convenient location. We ended up staying an extra night. Rooms were very clean. Sorry we didn’t get to meet Cookie due to our schedule and the weather on the day we left.

This is a five star motel. Clean rooms, tastefully and unobtrusively appointed rooms. Gracious hosts and fantastic location. Free ice, Wi-Fi, comfy beds. Fun atmosphere quiets just after dark. Save your money from the big chains and get a better night here.

Won’t stay anywhere else when visiting this part of the country! Absolutely loved this sweet, western motel and the staff were unparalleled. Free pony rides and love music every night, combined with a short walk from the room to the rodeo in Cody — just a wonderful, lovely stay all around. Will definitely be back!

A little more expensive than I wanted to pay, and I was picturing something more than a gravel parking lot. Maybe some more grass. But the room was large, the staff very hospitable, and the atmosphere warm. Also a beautiful view of the mountains!

When we booked this hotel we didn't realize they offered pony rides and nightly entertainment from 6-9pm. We stayed for 3 nights for our visit to Yellowstone and will definitely come back. The hotel was clean and we stayed in a room with 2 queen sized beds and a closet, but no dresser. I knew this going in, so a lot of our clothes were on hangers and it worked out fine. The fridge and microwave were great. What made all the difference was the staff. They went out of their way to make us feel at home and my 6 year old daughter cried because she didn't want to leave! My kids loved not only the pony rides, but the golf cart rides (complete with Cookie the miniature horse on board), the calf roping area, playground and pool. The singing cowboy made a point to include my 10 year old son and got him up and singing. My son said, "I love it here. Everyone loves me, I am famous! " We enjoyed the horses and brought them treats. If you have children, or are looking for a real wild western experience, this is the place. We also recommend eating dinner at the Cody Cattle Company (5 minute walk) and buying the rodeo tickets fo the Cody Nightly Rodeo. It was totally worth it. If you want an amazing and unforgettable experience, choose this hotel.

We loved it! We travel around 180 days per year… we never ever stayed at a one star but decided to because of the rating it received. It was great! The rooms were updated and very nice. Several times we get free bikes to use… but this hotel gives you free horses! They have a great pool. It was a great experience!

Very friendly in people and price. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff and especially management were very helpful in learning the best routes and times and places in the area. We will stop there every time we are near Cody.

This is a great place to stay just outside of Yellowstone National Park. The owners are so friendly especially Jody! The place and our room was clean and well kept. We had a great view from our room. We were so sad to leave especially our little daughter. She misses Yum Yums, Cookie and Hank… especially in the car ride going home. She kept looking at the pictures of Cookie on the postcard going home! Please give this place a try. The prices are reasonable, the people are so friendly, it is well kept, and there is so much to do in the town of Cody. We can't wait to come back!

5 stars! Friendly and FUN and clean! Had a free horseback ride while listening to live music, did laundry, slept like a bear! Beautiful vistas all around and nice clean pool. Highly recommended! Thanks to Road Trip USA book for leading us to you, Big Bear.

Great hotel!. Comfy beds, hot shower, awesome heated outdoor pool. The front desk man was so nice! … We spent a few days in Yellowstone and were a bit concerned about traveling at nite with the deer and what not. Stopped in Cody and called up the hotel. He saved it for us with just a last name. Best hotel we have stayed at on our 12 day trip thru Oklahoma, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Montana. 5 stars for sure. Small, pleasant and affordable. Will definitely stay here again!

Great family run establishment with lots of activities for kids and adults. Friendly home town feel. Semi comfortable rooms that are well kepts. Great places for family's and long distance travelers. Very close to local activities and business for family fun.

Everything was fantastic about this place, our room was HUGE. The owner made sure that we had everything we needed. They even have some pet horses in the backyard that you can pet! I will miss Hank the new addition to the horse family. I just cannot say enough in how great our experience was!

Good location for heading into Yellowstone. Was willing to let us check in at 1am which was really nice, a lot of local hotels don't offer 24 hour check in.

Stayed here a summer ago with my wife and kids on our way to Yellowstone. The rooms were very clean and we never had any problems with checking in or out. The rooms though are very small, so beware when travelling with family. And also the motel is quite spendy. My kids had a blast in the pool though! Would stay here again, I don't think there are many options in the area.

We did these reservations quick one night needing a place to stay overnight and found this one. The rooms were clean and cozy! The beds were comfortable as well.

A overall great place to stay for the price. Daily room cleaning, nice rooms. Nothing extravagant but nice. Very close to the yellow Stone main road.

The room we are staying in is comfortable in every way. When we first walked in the door, we were greeted with the smell of clean. All of the fixtures sparkle. The chairs are upholstered with non porous material so your can know that they're clean. The bed is comfortable. I usually don't sleep well in motels, but I slept soundly for 7 hours last night. Every thing about this room makes for a great place to relax!

Visited here for a little vacation since was near to Yellowstone and some other historical sites. Very friendly staff and rooms are very comfortable. Pet friendly with just a $10 extra charge per night. Will definitely be willing to stay here again!

We had the most wonderful time there. They made you feel like family and the room rated a 12 out of 10 for us. The entertainment at night with Doug Hunter was amazing. He is so talented and he even let me sing! Don't miss out on this wonderful place if you ever are in Cody. We hated to leave.

Friendly staff! They honored an online rate I found that was $60 cheaper than their regular rate. They have a large outdoor heated pool and homey rooms that are simple, quaint, and well — furnished including a fridge and microwave. Located just beyond the bustle of downtown Cody, Big Bear Motel was unexpectedly pleasant roadside hotel with a gentle and beautiful Belgian horse that gives FREE rides all throughout the day. Live singing goes on in the background in the evening, drawing you to sit out front of your little log room on the porch and watch the kids play and a golf cart make its rounds with a tiny pony riding in it. It's a stone's throw from the world famous Cody Rodeo (8pm) and only a couple miles from the site of the Monday — Saturday Gun Fight reenactment (6pm).

Went to South Dakota to celebrate our 38th anniversary. Had a wonderful time exploring the Black Hills. The trip was much more enjoyable having a comfortable cabin to return to at night. Everything was very well kept up as well as clean and spacious. Looking forward to returning to the Cole cabins and a beautiful state.

This is the most fun we've ever had at a motel! It's incredibly favor oriented and cute and just perfect! The free pony and horse rides and cookies and snacks we're A HUGE hit for our children as well as the other children in the area. There is an native American drummer circle playing and the guests are all enjoying hanging out together and getting to know another. There is a heated pool and playground and gorgeous views and the price is better than any others in the area! This motel is near the entrances to the national parks and Yellowstone so it's incredibly close to all of that adventure and yet, still in town. The rooms are perfect and clean and there is plenty of room to park! There is a mini fridge and microwave in the room.

Great hotel. Small bathrooms. My father feel in bath tub even being in a handicapped room. Beds weren't comfortable. May come back.

Nice, clean, ramp in doorway to steep I had to backup and get a running start to get through it. 1 bed way to soft just sitting on it I went down at least 6 inches the other bed just right. If and when I come back this way I will stay here again.

Dated but does the job for the price in Cody. clean. Comfortable. Owner was very accommodating. IF you are staying in Cody and dont want to spend those crazy prices… the Bear has no real faults. its not modern… but there's nothing bad to say.

Old Trail Town in Cody a must see! Prices was great with people with kids. Big Bear has horse rides for kids and beautiful views of the mountains. Rooms was clean. People was very friendly. Had great vacation.

We had a wonderful time. The rooms were clean and quiet. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The pony rides and nightly music were great! The staff was very friendly. I will definitely stay there again.

Overall good experience. Staff is friendly and rooms are spacious. Place feels a little dirty but not intolerable. Would recommend for staying on a budget.

O got bug bites on my eczema but the rooms looked nice the shower faucet was clogged but it had a nice layout, sink outside of shower and toilet room can't open a huge window unless u want to have someone see you getting out of the shower and into bed bud besides that it's really friendly and looks kept up nicely they have a new and big TV in here for us and really good service, we checked in at 12am and they came right in for us.

The room was nice. It had a slight musty smell, but otherwise it was good. Nice size pool and a nightly rodeo was nearby. They even had free pony/horse rides and a cowboy who came to perform.

Everything is old and needs renovating out refurbishing. It's not very clean either and it's overpriced. The only reason started here was because it's the only place on town that can sleep 5 comfortably.

Very nice rooms. Family friendly environment. A place that you can kick your feet up if you want on the outside furniture and enjoy the sunset.

If this were an average motel, I would give it three stars (or more). However, I called this motel from five hours away. They had a vacant room and took my credit card number to hold the room. When I arrived, I found out that they had given the room to someone else. This behavior is unacceptable. On the bright side, the motel owner did put me up in his unoccupied new home nine miles away from Cody. Still, after twelve hours of driving, I was extremely disappointed. On the second day, I did get a room in the motel. On the third day, I got the same room and the motel owner jacked the price up ten dollars. Not a big deal, but still unethical. If you're planning on going to Yellowstone, don't stay in a Cody, WY motel. Get a camper (buy one or rent one) and stay inside Yellowstone.

Good for overnight on the way to Yellowstone. No breakfast, bathroom a little and not very functional.

Very expensive for summer camp circa 1970 style lodging but could be all cody has to offer. Nice staff, pool was cold (not heated as stated) but overall was fine for one night.

We rented a large family room here for a night. The price and location were perfect for us. Emails that I sent them prior to our stay were returned right away, and were friendly and informative. The owner greeted us when we came in late, and he was very friendly. The room and furnishing is older, but it was clean and well kept, well stocked and furnished. We were happy with it, and if in the area again, we'd stay there. To comment on others' reviews, to be fair, yes the parking lot is gravel. It wasn't muddy or dusty when we went so I can't complain. And yes, I saw a little peeling paint over the tub. I opened the window for some ventilation to keep down the moisture. I'd guess most people don't have that sense or courtesy, thus the paint. An exhaust fan would be nice (especially when sharing a room with 7 other people). But that's my only suggestion.

The front desk guy was VERY rude and not professional at all. It sucked, do not recommended it at all.

If it were a choice, I wouldn't even give it one star. Their customer service was horrible. Regardless of the situation, while people work in customer service you should always make the customer feel welcomed. That was not the case at this motel, and for that I refuse to spend money to book here.

This has to be the cleanest hotel/motel I have ever stayed in. I even looked above the shower enclosure, cabinets and even the windows inside and out. The only thing nicer than that was the friendliest people around. Spent one night there in March and was amazed I would give it a 5 but can only give it a 4.5 because no coffee in the room, but fresh coffee available in the office and across the street. Would like to go back during the summer to enjoy all the motel had to offer, pony ride and heated pool. Definitely a good value.

My husband/I stayed 10 days and found the rooms vert clean. The owners offered us a discount in price. The staff were efficient and friendly. Its location on the west side of town offered a better proximity to Yellowstone and Teton National Parks.

The people who own this motel are caring adults and they were so nice when I had no where else to go. These people love talking to others and very friendly. They have done alot of renovations and place looks great. I am a local in Cody but when I first moved here I was going thru some rough times and a divorce. I had to move in motel with a friend and my 2 kids. They were very nice to me and I feel that the room I was in was a great room. Everyone treated me with respect and the room was clean all the stuff worked in it and got me thru the winter awsomely. Thank You Big Bear Motel! I dont know what I would have done with out you.
