The house is very quaint and cozy. Mike and Lori was so hospitable. They made us feel welcome and at home. The breakfast was great!

Loved the decor & overall feel. It's a lovely B&B with a rich history, Chris was an amazing host! He allowed us to check in late as we were coming from up state & battling rush hour traffic. The rooms were well thought out & had everything you could need. We did not use the shower as this was just a one night stay. But I did turn the shower on & it seemed to have good water pressure (essential when you have long, thick hair). Ozzie is such a sweet pup & loves checking on his guests occasionally & getting pets when he's comfortable. The breakfast was delicious & I love that they had a Keurig available at any time with coffee & tea. Munro House also has a small fridge with bottled water & soft drinks that's also available at any time. I can't wait to stay here again sometime soon. ❤️

We stayed 2 nights in Julia’s room and added the Winter Getaway package that included 2 dinners (gift cards) massages for 2 and $20 movie theater gift card. It was the perfect low key place to unwind. We enjoyed the delicious breakfasts, very clean room with private bathroom and welcoming hosts. It was our first B&B and we’d recommend it for a weekend adventure!

Gracious host & hostess in Mike and Lori at their magnificent bed & breakfast. We recently stayed 2 nights in the "Generals Room". Loved the motif as I am a Civil War enthusiast. They spent time with detail here. Met some of their charming family as well and the breakfast was awesome both mornings. We came from Upstate New York as we had a reunion in the area and I couldn't have picked a better place to stay! Thanks again Mike and Lori.

I found Munro House Bed and Breakfast when I was researching someplace to escape to for some badly needed R&R. Wow, I certainly picked the right place! The owners were out of town, but Rachel, the interim innkeeper, is a sweetheart. She is genuine, gracious, knowledgeable on the history of the house, and knows her way around a tasty breakfast. I also had the pleasure of hanging out for an evening with the owners' son, Chris. He was an excellent host (and dinner companion) and I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation with him. Thank you to both! I WILL return.

The Munro House is a gorgeous B&B. Each room a separate theme of incredible beauty. Such a great piece of history! The welcoming received is indescribable.

Great place to stay and great hosts!

Absolutely loved our stay. The history of the house is neat, our room, Clara's room, was private and cozy. Wonderful family style breakfast with homemade jam, and great area restaurants. Leave time for antique hunting! We can't wait to return.

Had a fantastic time with Mike and Lori at the Munro B&B. Opted to have massages (they also have spa services) and it was a fantastic experience. All around very professional, personable and welcoming. Breakfast was great, had the french toast from an old family recipe, you can't go wrong. Fresh fruit and juice, as much coffee or tea as your little heart desires and the rooms were cozy and clean. Stayed in George's Room, the Jacuzzi tub was great! I would recommend this B&B to anyone who is planning on visiting the Coldwater or Jackson area, it is 30 minutes in either direction, but you won't get the same experience at a hotel and it only costs a few dollars more!

We spend several days last November at Munro House. It was a very pleasant experience. The room was very comfortable. We had our own fire place in our room and the bathroom tile floor was heated, making it nicer to get up in the morning. We were attending a function at Hillsdale College and the House was a short driving distance to the school. We had breakfast every morning and the food was delicious. The company of our host at this meal was very educational, as he told us all about the house and the town. All in all, it was a great experience. I look forward to another visit soon.

We were there for murder mystery dinner — could have been more time to learn our own characters before we learned about everyone else but I think that was more our group jumping in too quick. Over all wonderful… I was concerned about how comfortable the beds would be, we stayed in Sara's room and our bed and sheets were incredible. Breakfast was the best part of every day. Be advised, the gift card to dinner that is "included" is an added cost on top of everything else.

Staying at the Munro House was a wonderful experience. The hosts Mike and Lori are very nice people who take a warm interest in all their guests… they really like what they do and it shows! They go beyond to make a guest feel right at home in their house from engaging in conversation about the history of the house (Mike) to showing personal artwork and current projects of publishing a book (Lori) … not to mention their very well behaved Scotty dog, Ozzie (? spelling). I look forward to going back with some of my friends. Breakfast was also very good. A great experience!

Although it has been a few years, my family and I have stayed at the Munro House multiple times — each time being a wonderful and unique experience :) Mike and Lori do an amazing job making you feel at home — in their home.

Our room had one of the under ground rooms for the Under Ground Railroad in the closet. Beautiful room great breakfast, we loved it.

Great house and awesome host!

My teenage daughter and I visited in February while she was looking at nearby Hillsdale College. The place couldn't have been more enjoyable. We stayed in the General's Room and Margaret's Room, which are both extremely comfortable and cozy. The house is very historic and is filled with interesting and historical stuff. Mike, the owner, is super-friendly and makes amazing breakfasts. Try not to eat all the homemade cookies. Also I loved the quaint town of Jonesville… it's quiet and nice for just walking around if you want someplace quiet but with access to good food. We live in Texas but hope to come back someday.

Mike and Lori were the perfect hosts at this lovely Inn in Southern Michigan located near some great spots for antiquing enthusiasts. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived, enjoyed a tour of the inn and learned the history of the original owner. Each guest room is designed with relaxation in mind with comfortable beds, superb linens, TV, Wifi, private bath and most have a fireplace. Coffee, beverages and snacks were available 24/7. The parlor was wonderful for relaxing with musical instruments we were invited to use. Breakfast in the common dining area with other guests and our hosts was ver enjoyable. Our stay was a special treat and we look forward to visiting again in the future. Thank you Mike and Lori, it was a pleasure meeting you.

My wife and I chose to go to a B&B for the first time to celebrate our 23rd anniversary. We read reviews like this and chose the Munroe House. What a wonderful place and wonderful time. We stayed in George's Room that has a Jacuzzi spa. The whole home was very warm and welcoming. Our room was very clean and relaxing. Mike and Lori, the innkeepers, were so wonderful. Breakfast was delicious, bowls of fresh fruit, eggs made to order, and waffles from a secret batter. There was more available and it was all so good. Homemade cookies ready all day long. A well stocked fridge with complementary drinks. The whole experience was just so nice and memorable. We are looking forward to returning in the fall to see the color change and enjoy the local orchards.

Visited the area on business for the first time. Was cringing to think I'd have to endure a morning of continental powdered eggs at some nationally run 2-star motel. Found THE MUNRO HOUSE and figured it was a sign (RE: my last name). wow. Mike and Lori who run the place are fantastic. My experience was catered to the nines: privacy, Wi-Fi, full cable, spacious bathroom (hot tub? nice! ), and heavenly bed. Then the big moment came. Breakfast. Just got done eating fresh fruit, 3-egg ham-and-cheese omelet, cherry/pecan/walnut oatmeal, and a quarter-square of Lori's special Belgian waffle recipe. Oh, and don't forget the homemade jam and native syrup. I'm going to crush my meeting today. Oh yeah, all this for half the price of some of the bigger cities that I travel to. What? Mike tells me they have massages too. I'm coming back and getting one. Or three. Outstanding. History, service, good people, kick-butt breakfast. 5-stars.

As a history buff, I looked forward to staying here. A brigadier general built this place, the first house in Hillsdale County in 1834, then a humble two-room affair with a large fireplace and a sleeping loft. A few years later Gen. Munro could afford to expand. His high-ceilinged, two-story, brick-walled addition gives the house a substantial, yet welcoming appearance. But it was the house's hidden architectural details that were the big attraction for me: a secret tunnel and a cubbyhole above the first-floor bathroom that were built on purpose to provide a stop on the Underground Railroad. Gen. Munro had a business to run and a wife and 14 children to support, but he took risks and gave of his resources to assist hundreds, perhaps thousands of people making an arduous and scary journey. Today's travelers to Munro House will sleep peacefully in considerably greater comfort. My husband and I stayed in George's former loft, which is now a spacious suite complete with a whirlpool tub. Breakfast, served in the original part of the house, provided just what we needed to start our day: fruit, a sweet bread, and a choice of vanilla waffle, eggs any way we wanted, bacon, and I forget what else. I braked at "vanilla waffle, " which was delicious. Even though about seven guests were all sitting down to breakfast about the same time, the food came out very quickly.

My wife and I did the Murder Mystery Dinner this past Saturday and it was fun. Lori was the host. Before dinner, we were provided some shrimp cocktail with several kinds of wine to select from. For dinner, we had a steak that Mike cooked. I got it Medium and it was cooked perfectly! It was very juicy and flavorful with creamy mashed potato's and carrots. We stayed in the Generals Room which was military themed (from the Civil War). The room has a cozy fire place too which is wonderful for taking the chill out of the air. We recommend this to anyone who wants to try and stay at a Bed and Breakfast.

We stayed in George's Room. It has a fireplace and hot tub that are very enjoyable. Most of the restaurants are just a block away and are well within walking distance. Everybody was very nice and pleasant to speak with and be around. They encourage you to not stay in your room the whole time and to be comfortable around the whole house. We both got a massage from Julie who is an amazing massage therapist, we both highly recommend adding that to your package. The bed was comfy, the breakfasts were very nice, the town is small but fun, and they treat you like friends. It was a great short vacation getaway.
