Michael Willson helped us with 2 reservations for this month and the experience couldn't have been easier and more enjoyable. We had a gorgeous room with stunning views, and it was nicely decorated. The bed was extremely comfortable as well! The hotel overall is gorgeous and it's a super convenient location close to the lake and tons of dining and shopping. This hotel is awesome and we recommend it to everyone. Special thanks to Michael Willson for being awesome to work with always!

Horrible experience all around. After I communicated the various issues with my experience, Mr. Paul Cardona stated he would provide a free Hyatt certificate redeemable at any Hyatt property worldwide. He then reneged on the offer and awarded 17, 000 points instead. I had to escalate the matter to my concierge who rectified the issue and awarded me the extra points. They are unprofessional and dishonest. From the Facebook team, to the receptionist, and down to Mr. Cardona. Do not recommend!

Very expensive. But absolutely beautiful! I love that the room came stocked with drinks and snacks, had an amazing view, valet is so friendly, and my favorite part are the robes in the bathroom.

Exceeded expectations. Staff was kind and personable. Decor was quirky and fun and cozy. Room was spacious, amazing views, bed was ridiculously comfortable. The food was delicious. Beyond happy with our stay and will definitely be back!

Gorgeous lobby and room. Amazing attentive men to take our car and escort me to the lobby during a thunderstorm. Morning coffee in the lobby is outstanding.

Best anniversary hotel! Incredible location and the room is perfect! We mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary at Check In and we were surprised with champagne and romantic goodies! Also, we LOVED the text from the hotel stating that whatever we needed, simply send a text and it will be accommodated. We received superb service at both Check In and Check Out. Cozy, clean, romantic and more. No question that we will be back! Thank you, Thompson Chicago, for an incredible stay.

Wonderful rooms, staff and neighborhood.

I’m just going to say that this Hotel use to be called Sutton Place and was the best Hotel, we came often over the years and knew many of the staff on a first Name basis because they never left it was their career. This place is a nameless faceless no personality pit stop a disgrace to the legacy those wonderful people created. You can get a face lift but in the end no service is no service. I will not be back! It is however the Perfect spot for the millennial drones.

Lovely hotel and our room is fabulous, we’ve just come from Boston where we couldn’t swing a cat in the hotel room we stayed in so this is amazing. Very stylish, loads of space for our things. Oh and an amazing and huge walk in shower. We love it!

Clean, comfortable and good service. No fridge in room, but besides that, all of the amenities are great! Stay here at least once a year for the past 3 years.

This was a wonderful stay! Very clean, great location and the staff bent over backwards to help in any way they could. They even sent up a complementary bottle of champagne for us due to our lost luggage and birthday celebration!

Went to visit a friend that was staying at the hotel. The room that my friend was in was really nice. The lobby area is pretty swanky too. Located in a great area.

My go to hotel. Best location, people watching, and top rate hotel. Walk literally out the door to the best restaurants, shopping, and nightlife.

The overall experience was what you would expect from an upscale hotel. I found the staff to be very nice and professional. Artwork depicting exposed breasts, drug use, references to Satan being a friend, and further disturbing phrases and imagery adorned the area behind the bed (no, I am not kidding). Also, no refrigerator was provided aside from the stocked mini fridge. So you had to keep asking someone to bring a tiny container of ice to your room.

Booked a corner king and the suite was fantastic. Beautiful all around view of downtown Chicago. Bathroom was amazing, fully stocked with bath robes and equipped with a deep jacuzzi tub and separate rain shower. Bed was A1, couches were conveniently placed, mini bar had good options, and room service was delicious.

The customer service is great and welcoming, the beds are comfortable and the showers are amazing. The Thompson is a gorgeous hotel with lots to offer and it's located close to lots of shops and restaurants.

The man making a single cappuccino told me he was too busy making one person's drink to make coffee for the entire hotel. You're fancy. I get it. Starbucks is 2 doors down… and those guys were AWESOME.

The location is excellent to get to know Chicago, it is in an area with several restaurants and shops. The hotel has a modern style, has a good bar and Nico restaurant is outstanding. The rooms are a little small.

Very nice cozy place. The staff, door men are extremely friendly and super nice, and always ready to help. I enjoyed my stay and my roon was so comfortable.

My husband were in Chicago a few weeks ago and we loved our stay here at this hotel. We had a little problem with our room, the TV wasn't working, but the hotel quickly resolved this issue and moved us to a better suite on a higher floor. We love the rustic feel of this hotel, very cozy and great staff.

They decided to Cancel my reservation the day before. The reason being because a group their had extended their stay? The only reason I found this out was because I called into the hotel with a question. The offered to accommodate me at their sister hotel with a discounted price. After looking online it was the same price available to anyone.

Stayed at the Thompson for two nights with my s. O. For Valentine's Day. The service from the front desk and the doormen was professional and friendly. The room was spotless and comfortable. All in all, a very enjoyable experience.

One thing I must say is that the bathrooms design is a bit strange, the beautiful glass walk in shower has clear glass between the shower and the commode. I would rather be looking at a well tiled wall then directly at the commode. If there are 2 guests and someone would like to use the commode in privacy while the other showers there is a breach in privacy.
Other then this the hotel is beautiful, service is great and employees are very helpful. The Valet parking is very prompt as well.

Very nice staff! My room had a very deep bathtub and a corner window view, I could see Lake Michigan and also Luxbar. Nice bar and restaurant downstairs. Gibson's Steak house is across the street which is a big plus!

We booked a king room that faced the lake. The room was a little on the small side, but had everything we needed, with great floor-to-ceiling windows. The view was pretty good, although it was foggy most of the time we were there. The hotel itself was located right near some of the nicest restaurants and bars in the city, well within walking distance. The lobby and lounge had great atmosphere, very hip yet laid back. Would definitely go again.

I have never felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome by a front desk staff until I checked into this hotel! this was by far the worst experience I have ever had! My friends and I arrived on Saturday afternoon and the two gentlemen at the front desk were very rude and very immature! finally after dealing with them we got up to our room and it was not a corner room like I had requested and I had called two different times upon arrival to make sure I had a corner room so I called down to the front desk and they said I had not requested a corner room and really there was nothing they could do about it so I just left it at that and just settled with that room the room was definitely not a very luxury room at all which was disappointing but I do have to say the doorman, room service, housekeeping and the older lady that worked the front desk on Saturday night were very nice! On Monday around 1 when we checked out we waited in the lobby for our car to pick us up and the lady we had not seen before was working the front desk with one of the guys that checked us in and they were looking and giggling at us like I said in the beginning this is by far the worst experience I have ever had and I have never felt so unwelcome!

Went for a wedding. Absolutely beautiful venue, delicious food. Cash bar and drinks were $14, even beer, which was outrageous. Wedding block rooms were $250 after taxes, which was also pricey but more expected I'd say. We heard rooms normally are around $370, which is too much.

Highly recommend this Chic, stylish, boutique hotel in Gold Coast! Front desk staff is accommodating and well trained, rooms are spacious and provide nice views of the area! We stayed in a corner suite with 180 degree views of the city and felt more like a local and less like a tourist, which was the goal when selecting this spot! Great restaurant options within a 5 minute walk including Tavern on rush, Gibson's Steakhouse and Lou Malnatti's! Conveniently located just a short walk away from Oak Street beach, Old Town, Lincoln Park, Navy Pier, Hancock Building and The Second City Comedy Theatre!

Very classy hotel with great location. Confused bed, beautiful views, great service. We stayed here for our first anniversary and loved it! Rooms did not have microwave or fridge and were a bit small. Other than that, recommend for special stays in Chicago.

Visited the Thompson a while ago and had A wonderful experience. The staff was friendly, helpful and very professional at all times. The bellman knew us by name within a day and we always felt like a priority as a guest there. The rooms were very clean, with a great view and I would have slept in the bathroom it was so nice. If you're in Chicago, visit the Thompson. We recently visited another (more expensive) hotel in Chicago and it didn't even come close to our experience here. The Thompson has definitely set the bar for upscale hotels in downtown Chicago.

“Great Location, beautiful hotel” This hotel is in a great location surrounded by restaurants with outdoor seating that are open late on a warm summer night. Also at the end of the Magnificent Mile and a short drive to other sights. The hotel itself feels intimate and classy. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Service was great. I highly recommend.

I stayed at the Thompson Chicago last week while in town for a conference and the experience truly exceeded my expectations. The staff from the entrance to the information desk to room service and car service were phenomenal-top notch service. I stayed in a corner room and it was very spacious and nice. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking to stay at a very chic hotel with great service and a great location in Chicago!

My mother had a service dog and the staff took initiative to make it feel special because they brought up a dog bowl and some treats. This hotel was a great experience and the service was fantastic (:

The epicenter of Chicago. Unbelievable! The neighborhood is dripping with money and style. One of the hot spots of planet earth.

We had a perfect stay during summer. You will find fantastic food and many nice boutiques and brand stores directly around the corner and the Magnificent Mile is just a few minutes away. Perfect if you want to leave your car at home.

Small rooms but well furnished. The hotel restaurant is superb. The bar is busy and small but it's a classy place to hang post or pre dinner.

We had a great north facing room. Nice view larger than we needed. The mini bar wasn't too pricey which was nice. Gretchen pillows and shower!

Room, view, and location are very attractive. Didn't feel like hotel pays attention to security or unknown people roaming the halls. When management was notified of someone attempting to enter rooms, they were not concerned. Very disappointed about experience, I had higher expectations.

My wife had an appointment with a bridal party service that was using one of the hotel's event spaces. The lobby was very nice and the staff we encountered were all very polite and professional.

Great location, friendly staff, spacious rooms that are kept spotless. Noticed that they are pet friendly as well.

Had to switch rooms multiple times with no apology from the tall blonde female manager who frankly just didn't seem to like me. (Sorry — It's not my fault you guys kept putting me in a regular room after paying for the suite! ) Then, an early morning news segment taped in the room across from me — loud, loud loud — would have greatly appreciated the heads up that this was happening or at least an apology when I called down to find out why doors kept slamming repeatedly. I emailed the manager after my stay to discuss, but as I never heard back, I now write this sad review. In this great city with soooooo many amazing hotel options, don't waste your money here (and it will be a LOT of money you waste — it ain't cheap! ). There are much better options.

Stayed there in April 2014 and wondered how the Park Hyatt down the road would compare when I was in Chicago in January 2015. While the Park Hyatt is more old school and polished, I would take the Thompson over it any day. The Thompson is a stylish great hotel where the staff are very helpful and rooms luxuriously hip.

It was a very pleasant stay. The facade of the hotel is really nice. As soon as we walked in, we we're greeted by the staff. The interior is amazing, really stylish, I love the decors and detailing. The room is exactly how I pictured it, floor to ceiling windows with a nice view of the city. The bathroom is really cool too. We ordered snack and the service staff were really delightful. I'm really happy with the service and the place, you cannot beat the location. The only thing that made me give just 4 stars instead of 5 is the fact that the valet costs 68 bucks, which I feel is expensive. We have to park in a public parking bldg across the street for $30. However, all in all, I really liked this hotel. Totally coming back.

Exceptional guest service! Excellent location! Larkin at the front desk is a gem. Sean, the concierge, was very helpful. Sam at the front door, was so friendly. I cannot wait to go back and stay again. It was worth every penny.

Absolutely outstanding service! Just took a St. Patties Day girl's weekend and stayed at this lovely place and had a fantastic time. Even when my friend who indulged in one too many became unreasonable and mean, Mark Roberts and the entire Thompson team took it all in stride. Absolute professionals! The digs are stylish and sleek. The beds are fabulous and the staff is amazing. Have fun.
