Beautiful hotel in the best part of Chicago with just barely tolerable service. I love it here but being held captive at The Lobby for an hour because no one will give you your check was a bit annoying. If they could get the service element working in the bar and restaurants, I would never leave.

Just returned from a wonderful stay at The Peninsula. Beautiful hotel, great location, lovely pool, service was amazing. Would highly recommend.

We visited for afternoon tea at The Lobby and we were just blown away! Our server was so knowledgeable and guided us through our many questions about teas and helped us find the perfect one. We requested a gluten free meal, and it was lovely. Some of the sandwiches and things looked even better than the regular — that mango and coconut pudding was droolworthy! I cannot wait to return!

I have stayed at the Peninsula numerous times. We have stayed with our young children, and as a couple. It's a home away from home. The Peninsula is by far the best hotel in Chicago! Impeccable service, perfect location, wonderful staff, great pool, amazing spa, excellent restaurants, and bar. I can't say enough. We are treated so wonderfully every time we stay there!

My family met together to celebrate my niece's birthday and decided that her love of chocolate should be taken to the extreme. The age ranges that our family had ranged from 4 to 40 yet all were treated equal and excellently with the highlight being the toy bears being given to all the children and the "special" chocolate item being given to the birthday girl. I would highly recommend to any chocolate lover.

We attended a wedding this weekend at the Peninsula. The ballroom and cocktail areas were beautifully decorated. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Last, but not least the food and drink were top notch. Their signature drink had beautiful flowers for garnish. There was a buffet for appetizers and dessert, plated meal, and passed food — all delicious and well presented. Overall we were very impressed with the venue and had a great evening celebrating!

When we come to Chicago there is no other place we will stay than The Peninsula Chicago. The hotel is 5 star, the service is impeccable, the rooms and accomodations are first class. There is NO attention to detail that is left out. In addition to it being the perfect place to stay, the location is fabulous.

The Peninsula Chicago provides top-notch hospitality in a beautiful, modern, building. The world-class staff is trained to make every aspect of your experience perfect, and typically, they succeed. It is an excellent location. Room appointments are cutting-edge and chic. The gym, spa, and pool facilities are expansive, and up-to-date. From the gym, and pool, located near the top floors of the building, there are spectacular views over Michigan Avenue and the Magnificent Mile. There are numerous outlets for dining (or drinking), as well as round-the-clock in-room dining. The only downside is that this does come with a $$$$1/2 price. Comparing apples to apples, in the world of luxury hotels, it is a very good value — — you get what you pay for. But, absolutely speaking, if you are on a student budget or looking for a bargain hotel, this is not it.

Z Bar is a stunning new addition to the array of rooftop establishments located in Chicago, but it is definitely the most sophisticated and gorgeous option perched above Michigan Avenue and the Water Tower. The amazing space coupled with wonderful food and beverage options and stellar service make this a must visit this Summer!

Best Ultra Luxury Full Service Hotel in Chicago. I would give it 6 Stars +! Consistent impeccable courteous service, immaculate maintained rooms. I stayed in a Junior suite. Everything about this hotel is over the top! From decor and design, art work and chandeliers to the super comfortable rooms and bed. Fantastic Spa and Pool on top floor. Got a glimpse the the much talked about and anticipated opening of The Z Bar this coming week. It over looks Michigan Ave. Chicago has a New Hot Spot! Even if you don't stay here you have to dine in one of their four restaurants The Peninsula Hotels are World renowned. A clear step above the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons!

This review relates to afternoon drinks and small bites. The terrace is nice, breezy, comfortable, but the drinks were good but not great — overpriced for the quality. The small bites we had included the stuffed lotus, salt and pepper beef, and the summer roll. Salt and pepper beef was unique — a hot sweet dry preparation that was also crispy, but the lotus was prepared her exact same way (though this wasn’t apparent on the menu) which made for unexciting cuisine. Summer rolls and duck sauce were good but not uniquely better than what you might get elsewhere. For this price level I was expecting higher quality and a more singular experience.

I can't explain to you my level of satisfaction. This hotel is absoulty flawless. The customer service is outstanding. I was always greeted and checking out was a breeze. I was blown away by the updated technology in my room. Everything is controlled by remotes. The music system in the bath really impressed me. The cleanliness was immaculate. The hotel serves really good breakfast and they offer awesome drinks. Best hotel ever.

Great spot to visit for breakfast! In their "Lounge" — breakfast is open to anyone. It is a fantastic setup with a beautiful view. Top notch menu and service!

We had afternoon tea at The Lobby for an early Mother's Day, and it was fantastic as usual. Service was top notch, and the finger sandwiches and desserts were tasty and surprisingly filling. At $65 per person, it's an experience that's worth it, especially for special events and celebrations. Highly recommended!

Far and away the best hotel we’ve ever stayed at. We got married at city hall and spent the night and next day here. The staff was amazing, beyond helpful and personable. Would highly recommend if you’re looking for a top notch, luxurious experience in a great location.

One of the best places to stay in downtown Chicago. The staff helped set up a birthday surprise for my mother in law and was very accommodating with all of our requests. The kicker, you'll occasionally see a local celebrity there. Jimmy Butler, formerly if the Chicago Bulls, helped hold the door for me on my last visit.

Big rooms that were well furnished. Service was excellent. I turned on the ‘Make up room’ sign and someone came in 10 minutes.

I took my mother to afternoon tea while she was visiting from California. The service was excellent and the food was wonderful. They also provided extra servings of the small plates we loved. The view was beautiful and the decor was lovely.

First, the location is outstanding. If you want to see the sites and do a bit of shopping in town, this is a perfect base camp. Second, the staff are friendly and responsive. I have to say the service experience here is about as good as it gets. The restaurant off the lobby has excellent, but pricey food and drinks. The rooms are a shade small. However, they are beautiful and the technology is the best.

I cannot say enough about this hotel, it was nothing short of amazing from the first contact I had with them to book the room, up to the minute we checked out. The staff was friendlier and more helpful than any hotel i've ever been to, the hospitality was truly above any and all expectations I could have had. There will not be another hotel I would stay at in Chicago after the great experience i've had with the Peninsula. Absolutely Amazing!

I took my mom for our usual afternoon teas, and given the experienced having a similar ritual at some other five star hotel I would say I’m quite impressed with the Peninsula’s high teas. The lobby it self gorgeous, the live music, the ambiance and of course, our very own attendant, Ruben — makes everything seamless and effortless. From the moment we walked in, our lovely hostess greeted us both with her warm smiles. We had a table by the window, which is perfect spot for me and mom to catching up. Not feeling any rush, just relaxed and enjoying our time together. Definitely we are coming back again, specially now that I made my transfer into our chicago office, rest assure, you will see me and mom again in the near future. Thank you for Peninsula and all the Lobby crews, we certainly appreciated your hospitality.

The Peninsula is a beautiful hotel w/a very friendly and accommodating staff. The entire hotel, including the Spa atmosphere is very peaceful and relaxing. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the food in the main dining room, which was a disappointment. It lacked flavor and not was not very good. However, our room service breakfast was perfect.

We spent a long weekend at the Peninsula this past weekend. To say we were happy with our room and service was an understatement. The room was lovely and immaculate, the bathroom was amazing, and every single staff person was kind, attentive, and helpful. I needed to have oxygen delivered for my stay, and they ensured all went smoothly. When we went downstairs, they promptly helped us with doors and managing traffic, which was so helpful, because doors are hard with a wheelchair. I feel the service was above and beyond, and the hotel is exquisite. This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed in. Thank you s much for making our stay such a special one.

Everything was so perfect. The staff treats you like royalty. The rooms are in excellent shape. The rooms are also very modern. This will be my go to place whenever I come home to Chicago.

It's a grand experience. Lavish, modern and very comfortable. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom shower had great pressure, the toiletries were aromatic. Overall, very relaxing stay. Highly recommended!

Great stay and excellent housekeeping. Everyone was super friendly and professional. Nice tech in room with only minor room deficiencies. Elevator from street level to 5th floor lobby can be slow. Even the front door staff was friendly and professional.

This hotel is everything they say it is. Excellent service! Everyone is willing to help. When our room wasn't ready for an early check-in, they upgraded us, and the room was phenomenal. We ate at the Shanghai terrace which was also worth every penny. Great night out in the city.

This is our second time staying at The Peninsula. We have been very pleased with our stay both times. The rooms are always clean, the bed is more comfortable than my own! All services are very prompt and the food is delicious. We ordered room service twice. Definitely recommend!

I am posting this review for a family member. Truly a 5 star experience from check in to check out, and a modern Chicago landmark. Honestly every employee I came in contact with was very kind, considerate, understanding, and friendly. The central location, the clientele and the dining is truly unbeatable and although I did have a few issues what really matters is how the staff handled it. They went above and beyond to correct my issues and assure an impeccable stay.

We dined at the Peninsula and the atmosphere was so homey. The table we were sat at felt like an actual dinner table meant for a house, not a restaurant. The food was spectacular. There were little jars of fruit spread to use on the complementary bread and you were allowed to take any unused fruit spread home after your meal.

Shanghai Terrace was one of the best meals I've ever had. The service was impeccable and the food was all freshly prepared. The scenery was amazing too, with a rooftop ice rink shadowed by the Hancock building.

For a service second to none this luxury hotel located in the heart of Chicago and a very beautiful setting; this hotel has the best rooms I have seen in Chicago, and one of the best in the country. We were greeted at the car by a concierge that helped with all the check-in process, process directly to our room. And yes, we would definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends!

Stayed for a staycation around Christmas. Very attentive staff and cleanly facilities. Rooms are large and luxurious. Spa doesn't have a sauna, but there's a steam room in the the male/female locker rooms. Cocktails at The Bar are a little pricey, but the atmosphere is great. Reccomend this hotel to Chicagoans or anyone else visiting Chicago!

It is everything you would expect, and more, from a Peninsula Hotel. Great wine choices are handpicked for the meal selections. My steak was truly phenomenal when surrounded by some of Chicago's best Steak Houses! I highly recommend and will be back!

The restaurant is an amazing place to eat for breakfast! The food was great, the waitstaff was super friendly and very help. Also it was kid friendly which is really nice if you have little ones. If you're in the area stop in.

Invited to lunch at the lobby restaurant of this 5-star luxury hotel. Food, service, venue — all impeccable. Vegans: the day I was there, they were able to do a roasted corn and mushroom risotto that was out of this world. And, then, they told me they had an assortment of vegan pastries available for desert. I could not believe it how accommodating they were. They also have an incredible rooftop bar/restaurant: Shanghai Terrace. This place isn't cheap, but if you're planning a special anniversary or something, it's incredible.

While staying at the Hotel during a busy weekend some years ago, my best friend and I were unable to get an open table (last minute) at the Lobby Restaurant. After a brief, polite conversation with management, the staff actually brought out and set up a table for us. THAT'S service. Thank you. Beautiful, luxerious Hotel. Great staff. I hope to stay again the next time I visit Chicago, and see the updated rooms.

Attended an alumni event in the ballroom and patio. The bar was well appointed and the outdoor deck is lovely. The meal was delicious — salad with grilled peaches, fish and dessert… Well I guess that wasnt memorable. Wine service was quite good as well. Very nice evening!

We stopped at The Peninsula for dinner and dessert. We are at The Lobby, and then had dessert at the place (I forget the name) on the corner. Both were excellent! Dinner was good, but a bit pricey. I had the risotto with scallops. $18 to add two scallops was a bit much, but they were very good. We had desserts at the cafe on the corner. Very friendly staff and the desserts were amazing. My wife had the cheesecake, and I had the banana brownie. 10/10, would indulge again.

Was at the Peninsula for a professional event on the rooftop terrace. Atmosphere was very refined and service was excellent. Although I did not stay at the hotel, I would highly consider it in the future based on this experience.

One of the best hotels I've stayed at, right up there with the Ritz and Four Seasons. Newly remodeled rooms with all the latest and greatest gadgets including touch panel controls in each room and tablets in each room to control lighting, temperature, music and TV controls. Love the plugs in the drawers with USB. Had room service twice and food was amazing, some of the best chicken soup I've had in a long time. Even the cleaning crew went above and beyond, wrspping up my charging cords with a ribbon and leaving me a lens cleaning cloth for my laptop. I would give them 6 stars if I could.

Came here with a few of my friends for a girl's weekend. Was pleasantly surprised because not only was the room large enough for 4 girls, but the front desk staff was amazing! Andrew gave us a ton of suggestions for places to eat. We also received a special birthday surprise of champagne and cake to our room for the birthday girl! Everyone was so helpful and nice, I would definitely recommend staying here!

We sauntered on in for some delicious high tea on a Sunday afternoon! While expensive for the tea, cookies and sandwiches, the experience was magnificent. My wife and I had an overdue anniversary celebration with High Tea — something I'd never done and something she hadn't had in 15 years. The tea was splendid — The orchid oolong was so good that we ordered a pound of it when we got home. Note: A pound of tea is a lot of tea as we found out, but this is good enough that we're continuing to delightfully sip through it! The tea service was $60 a piece and included a pot of tea, sandwiches, scones, cookies and accoutrements. Quite the spread for sure. The clotted cream (fancy whipped cream), lemon curd and strawberry jam for the scones were heavenly and something I'd consider replacing a mattress with if my wife were down. Sleeping on such decadent sweetness can only assure a good night's sleep! The gents who took care of us were fantastic and made the whole experience an incredibly memorable one. The whole thing was worth experiencing once and in the future, we'd probably just go a la care with tea and scones. Everything was good, those portions were amazing. Well worth checking out for the tea if you're in the area and looking for something a bit outside the box, but still familiar enough that you feel like you're on downtown abbey!

Rooms were amazing and immaculate but customer service could be improved. I ordered an ironing board at 11pm because I had to depart for a meeting at 6 am, I stayed up until 1230 waiting for the iron and called back twice to check on its arrival. When I awoke at 5am the next morning still not ironing board, as I walked out at 6 am it was at my door. The staff was amazingly nice but device request process could be smoothed out.

Great for the holidays! They have a mini skate rink on the Shanghai Terrace. Kids can skate and mommy can get a hot chocolate with a shot amaretto. :)

For such a highly vaunted, high rate hotel, I was disappointed. Lots of amenities, but the room furnishings were dated (70's vintage? ) and many were in a poor state of repair.

My favorite bar in Chicago, maybe ever, has to be the bar at the Peninsula. It's open late night, equally great for fun with friends or impressing a client. It's elegant but inviting, with plush leather seating that's as lux as it is comfortable. The fireplace is a nice touch for a cozy relaxed atmosphere. Service and drinks are great. I would love to try the Saturday night chocolate dessert bar.

Damn, when I stepped into this place. Man, I was like yo, check dis out man like, I mean its totally worth the money. I'd give million dollar tips if I to. I'm a rich hustla yo.

Nice staff and spacious, clean rooms. Has a nice location with nearby restaurants and shops.

I'm posting this from our hotel room. This is our favorite place to stay. It's more than just the name. It's more than just the food. It's more than it's breathtaking when you walk into The Lobby restaurant. They treat you like a frequent guest even if you're not. There is no small detail left unturned. The food and hospitality is second to none. Everyone is extremely polite down to the room staff. You make a call to the concierge desk, it happens. You shake an employee's hand, and they are so gracious. It is why we come here every chance we get, even when we have the opportunity to out of state. To his "stay-cation" place. We are frequent guests here. The staff knows us by name and by face. I would challenge every hotel in this city to live us to the quality of what you get at the Peninsula Chicago. In our bucket list is to stay at every Peninsula in the world. If they are anything like this one, we will be so happy.

BEST hotel experience ever! GREAT, attentive, professional staff, very comfortable accommodations, terrific amenities, fitness center, and attention to details. Can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

Fabulous Rooms and Dining experience. Every detail is look after. The staff are great! Thanksgiving dinner is out of this world.

My favorite bar in Chicago, maybe ever, has to be the bar at the Peninsula. It's open late night, equally great for fun with friends or impressing a client. It's elegant but inviting, with plush leather seating that's as lux as it is comfortable. The fireplace is a nice touch for a cozy relaxed atmosphere. Service and drinks are great. I would love to try the Saturday night chocolate dessert bar.

They certainly set the standard when it comes to hospitality. The workers are warm, attentive and extremely accommodating. We we there to go ice skating because Millennium Park was too crowded. What a great treat. Even though the majority of the staff I encountered were not native English speakers they still did an amazing job and spoke better than most kids these days. The only bad thing about this hotel was that I wasn't staying there. You truly get world-class/rockstar service when you come here, no matter if you are a guest, visiting the spa, or just going to have a spot of tea. It felt like home, but much nicer.

I like this hotel for restaurants and iceskating in the roof. the lobby has a nice high tea with live music. Elegant. during the winter, they have a small but romantic ice skating rink open. It is a suggested donation of $10 for adult and $5 for kids. Love love their cider.
