We had 20 plus family members in town for a fabulous wedding. Upon checkout, the salesperson who arranged the blocked rooms was dishonest and the GM never came out to address our concerns. Much better service at Hilton and Marriott properties.

Very nice handicap bathroom! Close to the Univ of Chicago Hospital! The shuttle to the hospital makes everything so much easier!

An unfortunate set of circumstances added up to be the worst hotel experience of my life, it was less than 18 hours long and cost $523!
An event was taking place that surrounded the hotel by about a two block radius and there was no notification from the hotel that this would be an issue.
It took us an hour and a half to travel two blocks and find the hotel valet to be able to park.
When we tried to call and figure out where we were supposed to be going we were put on hold for over 15 minutes. Twice! I finally got out of the car and walked around two blocks to find it!
Once arriving to the hotel we were frustrated and the valets were doing their best with the situation. But when we were being escorted to the lobby by the valet a security guard for the hotel decided to stop the valet and argue with her about “which door she was using” while we were still waiting to be moved along to the front desk.
Once arriving at the front desk I expressed my concerns to the front desk manager and she comped my valet charge (Nice thought but I was forced to use the valet). When we went back down to get the car about 45 minutes later to go to our event we were basically given the keys, shown to the parking garage and told “use the key thing to find your car”.
The valet also gave us directions to get to our event that were supposed to help but the cross street she suggested was a dead-end.

The people are fantastic! clean, quiet room and many businesses within walking.

Great hotel with a shuttle that starts running at 7. Nice workout area and pool, rooms are sufficient with a mix of views. Breakfast offerings are typical, if you miss the breakfast window, the check in desk is also a Starbucks.

Stayed here for my anniversary. We absolutely loved it. Hyde Park is amazing and the hotel is right in Harper Square with tons to do within walking distance. The room itself was great! Plenty of room with a nice sized sectional and king size bed. 10/10 would totally visit again!

The room was nice. The room had 2 beds, and a pull out from the couch. The breakfast was average but everything about the room was great. I would recommend it to anyone staying overnight in Chicago.

Convenient location for UChicago, near shops and restaurants. Spacious rooms can accommodate a family. Free breakfast included a nice plus. Valet parking a bit expensive, park on the street to save eon overnight fees if you can.

Decent Wi-Fi, good breakfast. Great service that had a few nuisances, but was great overall. Room was very nice, just needed some lotion.

Facility is quite nice but the amneties are sub-par. Soap, conditioner, T. P. Etc. The pool is tiny. The workers are friendly and helpful though. Very enjoyable stay other than the sub-par amneties. Close to the beach (shuttle distance) so we went there for a dip.

Great location near all stores and restaurants. Safe and clean you may event run into celebs. Ps it has a pool.

Clean, spacious and affordable although Parking was extra, I didn't realize that. Souldve booked through Expedia, The location was great!

Nice clean rooms, pool and fitness room. The fee breakfast was nice. Free internet and Wi-Fi. Plenty of nice restaurants all around the hotel and movie theaters also. Great places to shop as well.

Came here with our family of 6. Loved the lobby so spacious and comfortable with many sitting areas we enjoyed many hours of cards and games with the kids. Room was nice, bath room extra spacious. The only downside to this place was the pool was small. The staff were the friendliest and most helpful I think we have ever encountered. Our stay was unbelievably comfortable. Felt like home away from home. Nice areas to eat and walk to. Great ice cream and chocolate shop right across the street.

Nice place in Hyde Park. Walk to restaurants. Clean well appointed rooms. Lively lobby. Seemed a bit under staffed. But staff are friendly and helpfil and go above and beyond.

We are in town for family medical reasons and we have been at The Hyatt on Harper for going on a week. The staff are the friendliest and helpful I have ever encountered. I would highly recommend this establishment to anyone. A great place and fabulous people! We would also like to give a big shout out to the shuttle driver Dwight! He was always very polite and helpful. This service was great for us and our several trips to the hospital.

I visited the hotel lobby on February 12 after a meeting nearby, wanting a place to sit and talk with a colleague. We sat at the bar and were served food and drinks by two of the nicest hotel staff — Ashleigh S. And Keith Davis. I will certainly return because of the great service and friendly conversation provided by both of them.

Updated review: 4.5 stars. There was a miscommunication regarding a refund for two nights I had to cancel due to last-minute changes in my business meeting and travel plans. (refund was done, although it will take 7-10 business days to show up on my credit card) Great hotel — excellent value for price. New, very clean rooms and common areas. Excellent breakfast with a wide selection including clever breakfast bowls and hot options. Good snack, coffee, wine/beer, and hot-food options available 24 hours a day. Excellent location with free shuttle service to UChicago campuses, plus a Whole Foods, CVS, and several restaurants within a 5-7 minute walk.

We had a little difficulty with the valet parking but the staff helped us sort it out. Staff were friendly. The room was clean and nice (sliding bathroom door was interesting — haven't seen that before). The breakfast offering was good.

Very comfy rooms, even the sofa bed was comfy. Could have done with a few more outlets but I had a nice night.

I only interacted with the front desk, and the last was very helpful and treated me like a guest of the hotel.

My husband and I stayed there just last night. Hospitality was great! The weather was snowy and extremely cold. Went out for dinner and when we arrived back we wanted to buy some bottled water. There were some delicious looking chocolate chip and Reece’s peanut butter cookies. We had to buy them! And the man at the desk offered to warm them up for us. Yum! Rooms were very clean and spacious. Will definitely be back when my husband has his surgery in a few weeks.

Every aspect of our visit was wonderful. Gorgeous rooms, easy remote check-in and check-out, prompt valet service with pickup through the app, and great breakfast service in the lobby. Every team member we encountered made us feel personally welcome, and our Gallery Host Keith gave us specialized recommendations of the neighborhood and the city. Can't wait to come and visit again!

Very clean and comfortable. The staff is awesome. I was here for four days. The shuttle driver, John was more than accommodating. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable. This was probably my best experience visiting Chicago.

Beautiful hotel with very professional workers. It is in walking distance of most everything you would need. The lobby is large and welcoming. Breakfast was exceptional. If you stay, prepare to spend some money. If you get a deal off of Priceline or similar websites, it will not include parking (I think it was $20 a night). But it's Chicago… So you will probably pay for parking whenever you go. However, if you arrive in your carprepare to be completely lost and have no where to go. They are on a busy intersection with maybe two places to park on the side while you sprint to get all your stuff out of the car. It is not a good start to your stay to have to circle the block several times before squeezing in.

Stayed a single night in a king room. Largest and cleanest room I've ever stayed in. Great room at great rate. Staff were courteous and very helpful. I'll stay there every time I'm in Chicago.

We stayed her for 2 nights and I couldn't be more satisfied! The rooms were very nice, clean and beds were comfortable. The staff was incredible, very fast service and very polite! I will be returning.

Stayed in a 2 bed room with a couch that had a pull out bed. Slept 4 comfortably. Had a mini fridge and I liked the rolling chair. Plenty of space. It was clean without the smell that sometimes plagues hotels. Friendly staff. I can't think of any negatives to provide and I'm sure I am forgetting some of the good things but I would stay again and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a place to stay. The curtains let you make the room very dark and no random noises through the night. The A. C. In the room worked good too without blowing directly on the beds. Plenty of places near by to eat and a great ice cream fudge and candy place right across the street.

We stayed here yesterday. It was so very nice. Our room wasn't ready so we waited with a complementary pop. My husband has trouble breathing and used their wheelchair. The staff was so kind and very helpful. The shuttle driver was awesome. The room was great. The shampoo and conditioner and lotion had been used and left there. That is the only thing I can think of that was wrong. I even borrowed some nail polish and did my nails. We will be sure to return again. And loved how inviting it was there.

This was a nice stay. Room was spacious. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was fine. Staff was nice. Sentence structure was repetitive.

April 2017 stay. After a night of alternating freezing/melting in the room we went out to obtain the car from valet parking to find it covered in some white substance that didn't come off with soap and water (from cleaning the swimming pool? ) Parking service removed most of it with some other chemical but the rental company still wants $$$ for fixing the scratches on the hood from removal. Parking company had us file a claim but they are still dragging their heels on paying it. The best aspect of the hotel is the great shuttle service they provide to U chicago.

Superior service with responsive staff! Our department held a meeting at this location and the service exceeded our expectations! Jody handled our catering order seamlessly and our out of town guest who stayed at the hotel all had positive experiences. This location gives people access to experience the south side of Chicago with convenience; which is hard to do on the south side. There’s an abundance of options for public transportation, food, and nightlife! The hotel offers FREE breakfast which was delish! Along with our catered food for the meeting. Overall this hotel and staff should get raises immediately! More than a 5 star hotel!

Very nice, modern hotel close to the university area. Ideal if you're coming for a conference to this part of town for example. The place is clean and staff was friendly. The neighboring streets have a few good restaurant options. Breakfast was simple but had all you need on offer (cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage, toast etc). They seem to have a shuttle service for the neighboring area, but I did not make use of it.

I cannot say enough about this wonderful place! The most awesome hotel ever with the staff that cannot be beat! It feels like family and I'll never stay any other place! Thank you for your kindness and hospitality! If we come to Chicago we will always stay here!

I am a business consultant and during one of my stays at the Hyatt Place Chicago — South/University Medical, I was bitten by bedbugs! When I reported this to the management, they told me they could not find any bedbugs in the room I stayed at, even though I showed them pictures of the bite marks as well pictures of the bedbugs that I had taken when I was woken up in the middle of the night by the itching and the pain that is associated with bedbug bites! Avoid Room 424 like the plague! There also have been cases when one of my colleagues had his backpack stolen by someone while he was eating breakfast at the hotel. Really disappointed by my stay!

Cozy rooms, nice amenities, bathrooms were wonderful. Near food and UChicago camous. Small pool/weight room, but perfect for a two night stay.

Incredible staff, clean, GREAT location but this is very much a boutique location. The rooms are small with hard wood floors and showers only. Its modern but not too luxurious.

Expensive but you get what you pay for Top notch cleanliness and stafd.

A bit pricey but very nice rooms, decent breakfast buffet (included), small but clean pool and workout area.

The service is excellent, and there are many unexpected and delightful amenities available that make your stay easier and more pleasant. My one complaint is that the air conditioning units in the individual rooms are quite loud, so I suggest you bring earplugs. I also wasn't a huge fan of the pillows, although that mattress was very comfortable. But the positives far outweigh the negative, and this is a welcome addition to Hyde Park!

I stayed here from February 24-29, 2016. The first day the maid didn't clean my room. I also noticed the day I arrived that the sheets on one of the beds had not been changed. You could tell from the appearance that it was dingy and wrinkled from someone having slept in the bed. I checked the other bed and it didn't appear to be fresh sheets either. My colleagues had reserved the function room that Saturday for an 8:00 a. M. Interview and filming for a documentary. Upon arrival we found out that the room had also been rented to someone else for a baby shower. We had to find another location in the hotel and set it up before we could start the interview. The day I checked out at the desk I asked for my bill and was told that the bill had been covered by the host whom we were screening our film. Later I received an email from the host stating that this was not the case. I told them that it was not a problem and I would pay for the stay myself. I later found out from the Hotel that did not receive the special rate that was arranged for people attending the screening. I was granted a credit for the overage but to date I have not received a copy of my bill that I have requested by email on two occasions for my business records. I have stayed at many hotels around the world and this was one of my worst experiences. This is also my first time writing a negative review about anything.

Clean and spacious room. Helpful, courteous staff. Great Hyde Park/U. Chicago location.

We stayed here just earlier this month (January 2016). The rooms are very good for socializing — they all have a seating area that feels separate from the sleeping area even though it's just separated by a small panel. The rooms are large and comfortable and mostly quiet (the doors make a lot of noise but the walls seem to be pretty thick). The breakfast and service are well above-average. The main downside of this hotel is parking — your only option is valet at $35 per night.

Great friendly service. Very nicely appointed. Clean and modern. I loved the power station outlets on the nightstand — 2 regular AC, 1 standard USB & 1 tablet (I assume higher amperage USB. ) Breakfast is included but I didn't partake. It looked nice though.

I received a very warm welcome at reception. The location in Hyde Park was easy to get to by bus from downtown. The room was clean and comfortable. There's a shuttles service which conveniently took me to my desired location the morning after my stay. Good experience overall.
