My experience was cool. Nothing extravagant. I wish the rooms were bigger like the photos. I wouldnt stay again because of the price. I dont think it’s worth the price.

Went for my birthday 8/28/22. Had to move to 3 different rooms due to water damage and possible mold. Didn’t have time to really get dressed up. Missed our first reservation. I would never stay here again. There is no way that management didn’t know. The manager acted “surprised” and moved us. Water damage that you can see is unacceptable especially since the rooms aren’t cheap. I attached pictures of the 1st and 2nd room. I didn’t bother taking pictures of the 3rd room. — 5 stars for me.

The room was clean and very nice we had the city view it was amazing The staff was very nice and helpful we really enjoyed our stay Thank you.

The concierge was asking my sister about her ethnicity which made her incredibly uncomfortable. We ordered a pizza it was burnt and taste like vomit. I give this place 1-star respectfully.

Great vibe clean rooms Dj on Friday and Saturday night. Bartenders at the bars was nice. There food and drinks are delicious. Front desk were very friendly and help. There was a problem with our Ac when we checked in and they immediately got us another room with no hesitation. I will definitely go back to the W.

These rooms are so small, outdated as well. Only characteristics that stands out is the lobby unfortunately. Overpriced for nothing!

I’ve had my share of hotel experiences but a hotel that doesn’t tell guests until they arrive that they don’t have any kind of parking… their attendant suggests a parking garage two blocks away that once parked, the adult woman and her two young female children are now stuck in and the hotel doesn’t care. All they say is they will apply the cost to credit toward my room (which will get taxed and so not a full refund) meanwhile my kids and I are in hysterics trying to figure out where we are supposed to park because the hotel doesn’t help at all. In fact they say to go on a website… what? We are alone in an unknown city and you can’t assist at all and we paid $300 for a hotel room! We finally found somewhere (it was directly Nextdoor! ) on our own but now our entire evening experience is ruined and we are stuck in our room. If we want to leave we have to pay for that parking, then pay again when we come back which is insane and horrible service (or lack there of). We wanted a refund and would gave left altogether but I’m trying to convince my kids that even though the hotel has horrendous service and my kids and I are devastated and stressed, that we can have fun in the room. To say I’m disappointed doesn’t even begin to say how we are feeling about this experience. I could understand no valet due to covid but 1. The Attendent had no problem going in my car and moving it out of the way so I could check in and 2.

Amazing views! The lakeshore view rooms are a must to experience Chicago!

Excellent location and views! love the design, comfort, and size of the room. Bed is super comfy, the sectional type couch was awesome, housekeeping was great! toiletries were really nice and starbucks coffee in room (you have to call and request a coffee pot) excellent stay all around.

NO! DO NOT STAY HERE! I went to chicago to decompress only to obtain more stress. My vehicle was being broken into, they stole valuable items and causing me to lose money. I could have stayed home for this treatment! I was in town for one night, parked my vehicle at the Axis Parking structure that referred by the hotel since their valet was closed (due to COVID-19 regulations). To make matters worst, management from the hotel nor parking structure has not contacted me to inquire about my well-being since the indicate has occurred. They obliviously do not care about their customers!

I didn't like we battle much for parking, too expensive and been in other cheaper and more luxurious hotels and better amenities charged $100 dlrs extra x our pet and room too small.

Nice great place rooms not that big, because it’s so many but it’s still worth it still.

First, room was dirty, found gummy worms in corner?, lol. Water pressure was awful. Bed way uncomfortable. The concierge said, if you call for drinks on room service, don't ask for anything fancy, they are not bartenders, you will basically get vodka. What a stupid thing to say. Elevator was broke, just a waste of time. Much better hotels than this. Very disappointed.

Beautiful Lakeview, clean rooms, great staff! 5star.

Horrible horrible horrible this is a completely overpriced rundown hotel. They charge a $200 accidental fee but give you a room that’s beyond damage. The sofa was ripped up, the bathroom filthy & nasty barely cleaned correctly, then I was told my car was too big to fit in parking structure and I had to park 2 miles away and walk back to my room. As a business owner this is the worst experience for a customer. I would never in treat any of my customers this way. I’m coming in from out of town to celebrate my birthday only to be met with this… NEVER AGAIN. I would have been better staying at one of the regular chain hotels like the holiday inn. I left the very next day. Very disappointed.

Definitely do the Lake View… staff are super friendly and engaging! Bummed there was no Valet, but considering The ‘Rona I totally respect that decision! Speaking of: safety protocols all around… love to see it! Do yourself a favor and even if you’re NOT staying here, grab a drink at the bar and sit out front and enjoy the view. Yes, Lakeshore Dr is right there, but Lake Michigan itself is just breathtaking. 100% will stay again!

The design of this hotel is so cool! This is the perfect place for couples, and I even had a great time here staying by myself as well. My room was on the 9th floor with a great view of the Navy Pier. The television is very good, the bed was so comfortable, and the shower with the glass door is such a nice touch of class. I ordered room service twice during my stay and the food was so tasty! The staff were always so eager to help me when I needed it. The staff at the front desk made check in and check out so easy, room service staff were excellent, and the men working valet/outdoor services were very friendly and professional. Thank you so much for an amazing stay!

We loved staying at W. It is absolutely beautiful and the staff is polite and helpful.

Thus far the stay has been amazing. It’s a very trendy place so at first we felt a little out of place pushing in a stroller but the staff is amazing and location is perfect.

Nice hotel. Centralized to everything downtown. Beautiful views of the pier and Lake Michigan. Very friendly and professional staff. Hotel is beautiful overall. Only downfall is parking. Valet is $68 per day. We got lucky and found a garage a street over. Chicago parking is a beast in general. Great stay though!

So I really love this hotel. Very cute and comfortable. Beds very comfortable. The decor is awesome. Only thing negative that I’d have to say is the have a whenever whatever button on their phone. Pressed it to call for them to get me cab ready downstairs, lady told me just go downstairs and get one. (Usually you can walk outside and there’s 50 driving by! ) it was like 10:30pm and I knew there probably wouldn’t be many driving around ended up having to walk 2 blocks to find a cab. Was pretty pissed. I was so tired from the day already it just wasn’t what I wanted to do.

Love this upscale, chic, fun hotel geared toward a younger clientele! Fabulous, spacious comfortable rooms with fridge, safe, roomy bathrooms with high end shower, funky lounge area in lobby area, great music, Looking forward to returning. Perfect location on lake shore drive. Valet parking. Highly recommend!

The employees of this hotel give this property a culture of stellar customer service. It's so woven into the vibe of this hotel it's unbelievable! Every single solitary employee I had contact with would drop everything and anything they were doing to address ANY NEED or guest request. I wish there was an option of 10 stars. This Hotel is the only accomodations I need when in Chicago. My hope is the upper management of this hotel read this review and give every employee in this building a great big thank you!

Premium hotel that prides itself on being trendy, cutting edge, and even a little edgy (to the point that I used to joke that the "W" stands for "weird"). In any case, the staff are pleasant and the rooms are serviceable. Nice views from some of the rooms and easy access to Michigan Avenue and Navy Pier. I always enjoy walking into a W hotel just to see what fun and interesting things they have done with the lobby. Some of them are a real trip!

The front desk was great in assisting us start to finish. The hotel is perfectly located and an easy walk to Navy Pier. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. We did have a bunch of young children staying and it's not really a family-geared hotel so that certainly made things challenging. As a parent myself, I understand the desire to retain your youth and identity but this hotel isn't for small children. The halls are hangover friendly (dimly lit) and the rooms are small and a good size for couples. While the pool does indeed have a pool, it is clearly designed for fitness and relaxation not for horseplay or play fights. There is no lifeguard and sounds are amplified. So, keep that in mind when you plan your stay. It is an excellent space for business travelers, adults, older kids, and kids who are prepared to politely share space with others. The W Lakeshore is a fun, youthful hotel.

Just stayed there over the weekend. The location was PERFECT — near Navy Pier and an easy walk to the Michigan avenue area for more dining and shopping. It was also a quick walk/bus ride to the subway to get to the airport or Wrigley Field. The room was great — clean and very nice! The view of the lake was also awesome — the Saturday night fireworks off the Pier were spectacular. The service was also wonderful — from the front desk to the cleaning folks. I would give it a 5-star EXCEPT for two things: 1) the Wi-Fi was NOT free — which is something you even get in the lowest priced hotels — should be here too, and 2) the breakfast was WAY overpriced, too small and not very good at all. $8 for a plain bagel? — really? Just go right across the street to Eggs Inc. And get a GREAT breakfast for less money and more food!

Decent place. Food quality was quite good. Had the salad which was a little have on dressing but otherwise fresh. Fries were pretty good too. Service was so-so. Walked in with no sign saying to see the ourselves nor anyone indicating as such. Was not provided a drink menu. Many tables were not bussed and there was some food under a number of tables too. Rating is more a reflection of the service and quality of the establishment then the food.

Spectacular king room had amazing views of Navy Pier and LSD. Well worth the money. Generous and very friendly staff. Clean rooms, awesome bathroom, fast elevators, everything you want in a hotel, even the small things! Will definitely be staying here again!

Our valet, Nick was the epitome of perfection. He was an amazing person and host. He was one of the highlights of our stay. We bonded and he was absolutely wonderful with my daughters. We meshed from the time we met on arriving. I will definitely recommend and stay at this hotel again! He even gave us umbrellas to keep when it was a misty morning and gave my girls candy when we left. He is an absolute asset. Thank you so much Nick! Hopefully we will see you again!

Nice location with rooms having a clear view of the Lake. Spacious rooms with shower without bathtub. The elevators are waiting in peak times. Go and have your breakfast in town as the one in the hotel is very limited in terms of choice, and the location also with few tables.

Very disappointing experience. Arrived Saturday evening for an event. Valet parking is not clearly marked and door/bell staff was non-existent. After leaving car with valet, directions to lobby/check in was not clearly marked. Stood in line at front desk just to ask where “living room” was. Front desk clerk looked at me if I was stupid and pointed saying “it’s over there. ” After looking “over there” I couldn’t find a retaurant hostess. So I waited for my party in the bar area. The bar service was decent. Finally our party arrived for which we had dinner reservations. We were greeted by one scantily clad server. I was disappointed in what she was wearing compared to the scale of restaurant/hotel we were supposedly in. As far as dinner service, this is where the nearly decent experience turned disastrous. Again, we had reservations (at least 20 expected) and this was Saturday night in downtown Chicago! Our single server was responsible for not only our large group, but the rest of the dining room and outdoor patio with, what appeared to be, the help of one other server that was pregnant (I only mention that because of the concern for her well being, though she was moving very fast and totally outworked our server) From the time we ordered to the time we paid, 4hours had elapsed. Empty, dirty dishes sat in front of us for literally hours. The basics that comes with good restaurant service were simply not there. This experience was a complete travesty.

Beautiful hotel, very cool modern rooms. Very clean, up to date. Great views city and lake view. Fun bar and restaurant downstairs. Loud music and full of people during the night, so if your looking for a fun hotel to stay at, this one is it and close to all major attractions. If you like a quiet stay, the hotel rooms are sound proof and have awesome bathrooms and comfy beds. Very clean, friendly staff. Valet is $67/night. Come n go as you please. There is also a parking garage down the road for roughly $25/night. I would recommend this hotel. Very luxurious.

The lobby and rooms are beautiful. I would have liked a coffee pot and fridge in the room. For the price, I think the hotel should provide these things. Overall, great experience and lovely view of Lake Michigan. All staff was friendly and professional. A little too swanky for my taste, but an overall wonderful experience.

We've stayed at the W twice and we love it! Amazing views, rooms are modern and super nice, the lobby even looks so cool. I am in love with the Bliss toiletries and they have great customer service. I only wish they had a hot tub with the pool. There's a Bliss spa on site that I haven't been able to use yet, but definitely plan to sometime in the future. I can't wait to go back!

Went in for a quick drink with my sister and it was great. Upbeat trendy atmosphere. Our bartender was fabulous. I don't remember her name but she was friendly and her drink suggestions were on point. Will definitely go back if I'm in the area again.

Great hotel and great staff! The location is awesome. I highly recommend getting a lakeside facing room. You get great views of Lake Michigan and the Navy Pier. The room was clean and very modern. This hotel has the typical W ‘feel’. The lobby is right in the middle of all the action. It makes for a fun and active atmosphere. The bar is a great gathering point and the staff there are excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be back if I find myself in Windy City again!

Room was clean and functional, if a little cramped with two beds in it. View of the lake and Navy Pier is great. Bathroom door slid closed and didn't really shut all the way which wasn't my favorite. The hotel lobby and bar feels a bit more nightclub than lobby to me, but that is pretty standard for the W hotels. Staff was friendly and helpful. I want to especially call out one of the staff from the car drop and pick up area, Rory. He was spectacularly helpful and friendly.

My wife and I decided to go on a weekend get away with out 3 month old daughter to visit Chicago for the first time. We took the train from Midway into town and were amazed by the beautiful architecture as we made our way into the city to the W Hotel. When arriving to the hotel, we were greeted and checked in by the operations manager. She was very pleasant and was able to help us with all of our accommodations such as getting a room on a high floor with a nice view of the lake. She even reminded us that only the double bed rooms had tubs so we could bathe our little girl. After getting to the room, my wife asked about getting a mini fridge to store milk for the baby. While they said they didn't have any available, to our surprise after returning from dinner, there was a mini fridge with water, Garrett's popcorn, and a note. We were amazed by the hotel's customer service from everyone top to bottom. The view from our room was amazing. We enjoyed looking out every morning and night. Staying at the W really was icing on the cake to an incredible weekend in Chicago. I've never heard of this chain of hotels, but would stay here again and look for future locations on our trips.

However, the beds are small (to be fair, the booking did say two full beds), but 2 queens is usually standard and expected at these prices. Our phone quit working so we had to order room service from the front desk. We did this twice and nobody suggested that they fix the phone. And $167 for breakfast for 4 people or $52 for 2 hamburgers is a bit too excessive for room service. Last call at the bar is 1am on Saturday night which seems a bit early considering how busy they still were at the time.

Place was beautiful. Location and view good. Had to pay an extra $67 to park overnight, it was not included in hotel price for the night. Had to request items to be brought to the room. Refrigerator, microwave & coffee maker usually are standard in all hotels I've ever stayed at. They also have no shuttle service offered.

While the rooms aren't exceptionally large (unless staying in the suites, which I've also stayed), they do have some exceptional views and stylish decor since the most recent major renovation. The lobby is stylish, upbeat and unique. The lobby bar service is great and a nice place to have a few drinks with friends and family. The morning breakfast just past the bar is great and overall pleasing and stylish and a pleasant place to enjoy a meal and start the day. The pool is enjoyable and the gym has the important equipment!

Nice, quiet room with a great view. The lobby area is very nice, has a preppy atmosphere on the weekends. The restaurant /bar is decent, wish they had more variety of food to offer. During my one week stay, all microwaves were unavailable… And the Wi-Fi is NOT free. Staff is very friendly, and the housekeeping ladies were very kind.

Awesomely designed rooms and lobby. The hallways glow (literally). Beautiful lighting and art. Gym upstairs with free ear buds to keep and apples to eat. Cardio and weights. Pretty pool going off through a glass door from the gym area. Nice views. I'll come here over and over again. I did not see a hot tub.

Unfortunately, I was a little underwhelmed. It wasn't a "bad" experience — just wasn't a great one either. This was a special occasion stay for me and I mentioned it to the concierge/insider and wasn't really "celebrated". Not that I was asking for that, but when I was a concierge for the W Hotels and Le Meridien beans for nearly three years… I felt like making customers feel special was a necessary thing to do in hospitality (and frankly, I never had to do all that much to reap a big benefit from my customers). Even just a handwritten note under the door would've made a huge impact for me! Bartenders were great, always had a pretty good time hanging out at the bar. Breakfast food really wasn't all that good (had it not been so highly priced for what turned out to be a rather mediocre quality level, I probably wouldn't of even thought about it). It was just a rather forgettable stay, when they had an opportunity to make it truly memorable for me (something the brand preaches they do well). I'm more bummed out rather… I usually have such a blast staying at "luxury" hotels. I'll stay somewhere else when I return to Chicago in 4 months.

Phenomenal hotel. We stayed over the Christmas period all the way from Australia and nothing was an issue or problem. Every staff member was happy and couldn’t have been of more assistance. Exceptionally clean and fresh room everyday, check in and out was smooth and had a town car organised and ready to go when we left. Beautiful lake view room we got upgraded to and a bottle of champagne for our anniversary. 5/5 Stars. Would stay again and can’t wait to come back. Katia I think her name was, was amazing and so helpful with everything.

It is very nice, clean and kept relatively small, which is normal with the conditions for a hotel.
It includes a shower as well as a bathtub, which is located quite deep. The temperature control is absolutely flawed. There are no areas of hot and cold or anything that helps. You only have one knob to turn, which regulates both temperature and strength. In the warm area, however, the knob always falls down so that the water gets too hot. At the optimum position it will not stand a second. So I had to permanently hold the knob in the shower and in between the water jet.
In addition to the pleasantly large flat screen TV from LG and the many sockets, there are USB connections in the night light, so that you can also tap without an adapter as a European.
Air conditioning, heating and a refrigerator are also available.
The air conditioning/heating is way too noisy and can wake you up constantly in your sleep. It has in fact always cooled at-15 °c outside temperature and a set temperature of 21 °c, and blown very cold air in. However, it is not possible to adjust whether it should only heat or not. That's pretty bad.
The Wi-Fi/WLAN works very well, is relatively quick and easy to set up.
Speedtest result (05.01.18, 8 p. M. Local time) : Download: 5, 7 Mbit/s upload: 9, 6 Mbit/s ping: 7ms very reasonable values!
The beds are comfortable.
The view is great.
What I didn't like is the parking facilities.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room we had was absolutely beautiful, we had a city view and enjoyed it very much! The room had some amazing lighting features that I want to incorporate into my home, the bathroom was immaculate. I mean I'm not sure what else to say other than if you need a hotel in downtown Chicago there's no better place, they also have rooms with lake views. They have all off the basic amenities and then some they offer in room hydration therapy, and 24/7 room service. They have a whatever whenever policy and will be glad to get you whatever it is you need when you need it! I loved my stay with them and can't wait to go back!

The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and the beds were soft. But this is not a 5* hotel. While the decor is modern and updated the rooms are small and the bathrooms are poorly designed. The bathroom door doesn't "shut", so forget privacy. The check-in area is small, and there isn't much room at the valet though the excellent staff help make up for that. The bar area is nicely setup, and the pool was clean though obviously dated. For the price, I won't stay again. And I don't recommend it if you have kids in tow.

If not for the wonderful view and location I would have rated a 3 star. For the price and advertised rating the room is sub par. I even had the upgraded room just under a suite. The bathroom was huge disappointment. If anyone from the W reads this a rainfall shower head should come out of the ceiling not the wall. Causing you to have to stand in the drain to get wet. Bed was comfortable and the view was tremendous. Room service was slow and 28 dollar Cheese tray had about 5 pieces of cheese 6 pieces of bread and some almonds. No vending machines but they do have a small room near check in with a very limited selection of over priced snacks and coke products. If you can get a deal stay here but not at full price.

Check in is at 3PM and when we arrived at 3PM, they said our room wasn’t ready! How can our room not be ready when check in is 3PM? Terrible customer service and room definitely not worth the money. Will not stay here again nor recommend to friends/family.

We enjoyed this hotel immensely! They allowed us an early check-in and a late check-out. The room looked exactly like the photos. They were extremely spacious and CLEAN. I'm VERY particular about cleanliness, and it was spot on. The view from the 30th floor was breathtaking over the Navy Pier. We were walking distance from so much! The Pier, shopping, great food. The location is PERFECT. The complimentary coffee had ended one morning, but one of the ladies still went and grabbed me a cup (and it was strong and delicious! ) The staff was really great and attentive. Not to mention, everyone was well dressed and polished. The only downside is the pool. It doesn't look as up to date or polished as the rest of the hotel. I wish they would update it and create a better ambiance. But that doesn't take away the amazing experience. Thank you for showing me why people love the W so much!

Very Modern Hotel! We looked it up online but the pictures are not as nice as it really is the hotel. It is modern, the lobby has a huge bar and in the evenings (I stayed weekend) a very good DJ. The rooms and beds are very comfortable and the service staff is excellent! Just don't ask for coffee to the room because it is very expensive, buy the package with breakfast included, well worth it. Behind the hotel is Navy Port, ask for room with lake view! You can walk around all around and there are many bars and restaurants a few blocks from there and it is a very safe area. Recommended 100%

The views are amazing and service really nice. I arrived at the hotel at 12:30 pm, about 3 hours early for check-in, and the hotel staff was nice enough to let me check in. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and well appointed. Bathroom is spacious with all the toiletries. I ordered breakfast, once on the day of arrival and once before check out. I tried the steak and eggs with pineapple juice and a pot of coffee, and eggs Benedict with pineapple juice. Food was priced at a slightly higher rate. I paid $68 for eggs and steak and $36 for eggs Benedict. The overall bill was $400 for a night's stay including breakfast. Also, the hotel has most amazing views of the navy pier and is a short walk away from the main shopping district.

I was very excited to stay at such a beautiful hotel. From the moment we walked in the experience was not the greatest. The hotel check-in clerk seemed confused about my reservation and delayed the process of my husband and I getting into the room. He excused himself and failed to tell us why he left us standing there. After 10 minutes, he returned and advised us of why he did what he did. Once we were finally in our room, we later requested a meal off of the menu located in the room. The desk clerk advised us that we had the wrong menu. We requested an updated dinner menu and a toothbrush from room service. After 25 minutes of waiting, I had to place another call and put in my request again. The hotel is beautiful, the room is very modern and spacious, but the customer service I've experienced thus far will be the reason I won't be coming back.

Hotel class on the shores of Lake Michigan which offers spectacular views, expensive breakfast and buffet not very varied. The evening bar trendy Ultra loud. The rooms are very comfortable and the gym and the pool are at the top!

Very nice looking hotel. Don't look any closer though. Everything seems up to par at this swanky place. But the rooms are pretty gross if you look too closely. There is just something about these ultra modern rooms that must be hard to clean and maintain. Two stars for the location and the 7 ft deep pool! Posting my view from 10th floor non water side.

Emily Baker was very helpful when I needed to print something because their printers suck. Don't work. The European cleaning lady was so nice as well (I think she was from Czech…) They both provided excellent service and also Samir, the valet guy from Mexico …

This is one classy hotel. The views are amazing and service really nice. I arrived at the hotel at 12:30 pm, about 3 hours early for check-in, and the hotel staff was nice enough to let me check in. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and well appointed. Bathroom is spacious with all the toiletries. I ordered breakfast, once on the day of arrival and once before check out. I tried the steak and eggs with pineapple juice and a pot of coffee, and eggs Benedict with pineapple juice. Food was priced at a slightly higher rate. I paid $68 for eggs and steak and $36 for eggs Benedict. The overall bill was $400 for a night's stay including breakfast. Also, the hotel has most amazing views of the navy pier and is a short walk away from the main shopping district.

I arrived in chi town early like 11:30 I checked in stored my bags went shopping enjoyed the day it is currently 3:30 and I assumed it would be safe to return to the hotel and get my room key since check in is stated as 3:00. Every person in front of me in line was able to check in and go to their room if check out is noon and check in is 3:00 how do they not have my room ready by the agreed check in time especially when I came earlier in the day and confirmed I was here waiting for my room. I am exhausted and have never been to a hotel that doesn't have my room ready on time I will never stay here again if they don't have my room ready in 5 minutes I'm cancelling my reservation & going elsewhere.

Very accommodating. The hallways to the rooms are dark with black walls and blue lights, which I didn't like. But the room was beautiful. Pillows are flat. Free coffee in the mornings are a plus. It was for a good price, and although we didn't have a good view of the lake, the Navy Pier is right across the street.

Great view of the lake and Navy Pier if you're lucky enough to get a room on that side, (We were not, oh well, but enjoyed the view from the window by the elevator. ) Room was very nice and clean with black and white, modern decor. Ours had a King that also had a really nice, long, L-shaped couch built into the wall. We stayed just one night so did not experience any of the extra amenities but they offer a wide variety of massages and, no joke, a decent variety of room service options… for your dog!

This place is so millennial it transcends millennial! I love it lol. From the French bulldog wearing pink sun glasses on the room key, to the purple lighting in the hallways. A couple people I spoke with were so nice it felt like we knew each other for years. A couple others were short and made me feel like a bother. Our room could have been a little cleaner. There were drips on the bathroom walls… However the rest of the hotel was pretty clean. We planned on eating and drinking in the hotel. However, we realized that the restaurant inside of the hotel doesn't offer even one vegetarian entree so we had to leave to eat. I would stay here again, but I would like to see better care taken when cleaning in the rooms.

Convenient location next to Navy pier, top notch bar and restaurant in the lobby. We had a king size bed in our city view room that was comfortable but a little firmer than my preference. The staff was courteous and very helpful, even giving my wife complimentary rear plugs when she forgot hers. Was here a yeast ago and they really modernized the look with their recent renovations. Looking forward to our next visit.

The staff was very attentive, the lobby was clean. The rooms are a conformable size and quite modern. The gym was better than most hotel gyms. Hotel had great amenities and an awesome location. A couple negatives I found was the low level lights in the hallway and the loud music in the lobby.

Great service. We were a large group and fairly intoxicated. They kept up with us well and only got short once. The food and drinks themselves were excellent.

Hotel is fine, my room is nice and clean. My only complaint is the parking situation. When paying hundreds a night for a hotel they should include some type of parking. They only offer paid valet for $60 a night. The nearest public garage (which is the worst garage I've ever been in) is $24 a night. Crazy.

The place was great. The room looked amazing. All the different lighting through the whole hotel looked really cool. It was in short walking distance to Navy Pier and a small beach. Nice pool. Cool bar. I'd go back for sure.

I always like this hotel and try to stay here in business. The rooms are pretty good and the Lakeview means you can keep curtains open which is good. The bar downstairs is nice too. The location itself isn't too great but if you're here on business it's decent.

Outstanding views from the rooftop bar and the guestrooms! Whether you're looking out at the lake, the city, or both, there's not a bad view anywhere in sight. The aforementioned (enclosed) rooftop bar has the chill lounge vibe nailed. The bathrooms are probably the fanciest I've ever seen. The rooms are ultra-modern, and very comfortable. If you're going to the Loop or the neighborhoods, you'll need a cab for sure, but if you're hanging out on the Mag Mile, this is your place.

My wife and I decided to stay here during our trip to Chicago and we both really enjoyed the hotel. The lobby was nice and check in was a breeze. The room was very spacious and cool. The only thing I would knock it for is the fact the bathroom sliding door doesn't fully seal and the bathroom does not have a fan. Location was a 5 minute Uber ride from most everything. We would stay here again.

Our room was really chic with it's decor. The staff were outstanding, going out of their way to remember our names and seemed to really want us to enjoy their city, offering suggestions for what to do and where to eat. Wonderful stay! Plus the hotel is perfectly located by Navy Pier.

-Restaurant food was mediocre to bad; cold steak, somewhat burnt and very boring pizza. Waiter dropped someone else's food right behind us and then spent his time blaming other people and making excuses rather than apologizing and moving on when it was clearly his fault. -the first room we got had a mysteriously cold and somewhat damp bed. When the problem persisted after the first night, we took everything off the bed to find a large, questionable, still wet stain that had clearly been intentionally hidden with fresh sheets. The hotel was frustratingly reluctant to fix the situation when we figured this out.

The W Lakeshore is a very trendy and modern hotel. The bar area is very nice and large. The rooms are modern and good sized. The staff seemed very nice and accomodating. Some of the rooms have very nice views of Lake Michigan. Although it is on a short cab ride to social and entertainment venues, it could be a little closer to restaurants and bars for convenience. It has a well equipped gym with like new equipment and a small pool. I didn't utilize the spa but it did look nice. Overall it was a great experience and I would stay again.

This is THE place to stay in Chicago! Super clean and modern. Fantastic front desk staff, especially Jeremy. You'll love the clean updated rooms and view of Lake Michigan. Great location, central to everything you need, and steps away from Navy Pier.

This hotel was in a great location, looked amazing both in the room and common areas, had friendly and helpful staff and great views from the room. The lighting in the rooms was elegant, comfortable bed, and everything had an overall modern look. The bar area looked nice as well although I didn't stop by. The one negative was there was no fridge. I'm not sure if that was all rooms or just mine as it looked like there was an area for one that had been closed off. Overall a great experience and would enjoy staying there again!

I am not sure where a 4 stars rating came from. Feeling duped with $65 valet parking fee. I could hear a TV in the next room. I heard a party going on above me coming through the bathroom vent. The room was stylish. It felt like a glossed up Days Inn that it was.

Wonderful corner unit that faces the lake. Quick elevators, friendly staff. The hotel staff are no hassle and very polite. Rooms were clean, but could do a good once over if you just got on your hands and knees to have a different view of the rooms cleanliness.

Friendly staff, nice view. Room was nice, but non-suites. They also have a sliding bathroom door that leaves a gap, much like some of the other downtown hotels. Pool area was nice but no hot tub.

Met some friends for drinks at the bar and sat down for a meal. Cocktail are pretty good and the food is descent. Not exactly a go-to dinner spot but easy way to catch up with hotel guests.

Location is great, right by the lake. Great views! Rooms are very posh and modern. Everything was clean, the room was big enough and the beds were more on the stiff side. Service was wonderful. Everyone was helpful and happy.

The W Lakeshore has an enviable location overlooking Lake Michigan. If you're fortunate enough, like us, to get a room with a lake view you'll really appreciate it. You'll probably also appreciate the modern, stylish, design and super comfy big beds. As you'd expect from a big brand like W, all staff are courteous and helpful. However, beyond that, the W Lakeshore ends up being a bit too much style over substance. Take the lake views, for example. They'd be so much better if the windows weren't covered in grime and dust on the outside! Also, whilst your bed might be comfy, you'll have to endure noisy air-conditioning units, noisy lifts, noisy plumbing, noisy roads, and noisy ice machines when you try to sleep. Seriously; consider bringing earplugs to actually get some shut eye. Whilst the decor is stylish, chipped units, peeling paintwork, and sliding doors that don't fully close detract from the effect. Despite being 2015, Wi-Fi is only free in the lobby. You'll have to pay for it in your room, which doesn't fit with the upmarket contemporary image. The lobby does feature a great bar, with friendly staff and a good selection of drinks and food. W Lakeshore is frustrating in that it could be a truly great hotel but just lacks the final attention to detail that Chicago, as a city, has in spades.

It was nice, but I expected more for my money. At $250 for one night I want all the frills. Wifi was an extra $15, parking was an extra $64, there is a complimentary bottle of water in the room, but if you read the fine print on the label it's only free if you're a club member, there is coffee provided but it took almost 8-10 minutes to wait on the elevator, stand in line, pour and fix it myself, the wait on the elevator back up. The cleaning staff don't have their own elevator and they take up most of the trips up and down, and with their carts they fill the entire space so you have to wait on the next one. The elevators are activated with your room key, so if your hands are full it's very difficult to use. The rooms are very nice, but quite small. The bed is extremely comfortable, but then there is the bathroom: be VERY good friends with whoever you're rooming with. There is a window between the bed and the bathroom and it's only partially frosted so it's rather easy to see the toilet, and the bathroom door slides shut with about an inch of open space to see through at the edge. Parking is valet only and you'll have no access to your car unless they bring it around for you each time. Make sure you don't need anything from it after you park. Generally nice but tons of room for improvement for the HUGE price. (one night cost more than my monthly mortgage)

Hotel and location are beautiful and well maintained. The Lake view is a beautiful option. You can see the small beach, navy pier and other parts of that area. The pool was a bit to cold for the wife but after a few minutes in it my body acclimated to the temperature and it was fine. They have a nice gym and the location of the hotel is within walking distance of the beach and Navy pier which is always good. The only downside I had with this hotel was the "Early" check in option on the reservation. If you plan to get there earlier than 2 or 3 pm you are NOT guaranteed a room. They told us although you can check in early you wont get a room until its ready. Wouldn't be a big deal except we had been driving all morning so we wanted to check in early and than relax before going out to see the sites. Upon arrival we were told if we wanted to guarantee a room in the early AM we had to have paid for the previous day. I was dissatisfied with this and they should remove that option from there booking. Although it was a headache they were able to get us a room within an hour and a half. Thanks,

I booked my hotel reservation through the hotel's site. I was quoted much more for my room over the phone. I received a cancellation email the day before my stay, which was a bit alarming, being that I never cancelled it. The hotel staff was able to correct this error, but when I arrived the king beds were not available immediately. Again, a bit of a hassle. We were then put on a "wait list" when I had already requested an early check in beforehand. It was very frustrating! With plans in motion, this had set us back a bit for the day. We chose to wait at the bar and have a few drinks to lighten the mood. That's when we met Lara. She is an exceptional member of the bar staff that is warm and welcoming. Thanks to her, we were more than happy to give a better rating for our stay.

Great staff, great location The room was clean while the grout of the floor of the bathroom missing and mold around bath tub and paint job that looked as it was from 10 years ago. And very dated decor. This is a 3 star and not a four star hotel.

No thing exceptional. Rooms rather gloomy with no net curtains for privacy from overlooking buildings. Bar area is acoustically noisy, so not ideal for conversion. No in-room coffee pot and light you have to get out of bed to turn lights on and off.

A W in name really, not up to the standard, staff are great but this does not really have the usual vibe. Still good value and a nice location.

Valet wrecked my truck and refuses to repair. $3500 worth of damage to a vehicle with less than 1000 miles. Hotel uncooperative even though they have security cameras.

Staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I had a last minute work presentation and they brought me poster paper and markers within an hour and did it with a smile.

Stayed here recently for New Years Eve! The interior is super nice! So glad they did a renovation defiantly upgraded the place, the lobby is fun, artistic and innovative. Location is also nice, close to Navy Pier and Magnificent mile. Rooms were clean, and well kept. Although our "City View" was not a city view I saw another concrete building — that was a little disappointing. Heads up room service and bar stops serving alcohol at 2 am — my only compliant.

We have ben coming since summer 2012. This place just renovation done. The rooms really nice. The view of lake is awesome.

I completely agree with Greg's review above. He nailed it. We were there for a wedding with 16 people. On arrival, a shot and a beer at the bar was $17. A mojito was $10. Ok, I'm not cheap, but I wanted to go back to the airport plane to drink. The refrigerator in the room was locked until we ask for it to be unlocked and then it was empty. Allowing for coffee available in the lobby, there was no coffee machine in the room. I am not sure of the arrangements that were made for the stay, but we got no room service in 3 days. Bathroom door could not be fully closed and had a window viewable to the bedroom. Allowing for the haze on this, I am not sure that many people would be comfortable with it. Overall, many things wrong and not many things right. Location is good but if expecting First class hotel accommodations, wait until they get through their transition. They say better things will come. Staff is friendly. Seems to be trying their best. Perhaps better things down the road for them. As of this date, I would not stay there again.

Not only is the city amazing, but this W did not disappoint. From the chic art deco design to the rooms (get the Wow or Spectacular) I always enjoy myself. Be sure to book at least a month out to ensure the best deal. The staff is very helpful, concerned, and ready to help whenever possible.

For this to be the downtown W off of Lakeshore Drive, you'd expect a little more. But I wasn't impressed. I've stayed in multiple W hotels before, primarily in Phoenix and Los Angeles and both locations were better than this one. Really disappointing. Parking sucks. Flat out sucks. Now part of this has to do with Chicago's parking in general but the valet is expensive and they really get over due to lack of other options. Locals can find parking garages in that area that are much cheaper but I'd imagine most tourists just go for the valet, which is unfortunate for them. The outside isn't even that glamorous to look at besides the view from Lake Shore Drive. It almost looks like a parking structure (how ironic). Rooms are a little small for my liking as well. For the amount of money they want, it's no way their rooms are worth it. You are paying for a view of the lake and Nay Pier. I've been here for parties on the 8th floor deck as well. Nice small deck area and pool and they have a bar in there. That's pretty cool. But it's only a few other amenities that are nice here. And that's not enough to make this a must stay place IMO.

Hotel is very overpriced for what you get. No continental breakfast, cold coffee, no happy hour, no exhaust fan in the bathroom, no microwave, toilet runs all night, sink doesn't drain, chip in the tub, caulk peeling in the shower. We signed a "quiet time" after 10 pm form and we have people partying down the halls at 3 and 4am and nothing happens. Food, drinks and everything included is overpriced (ex. $5 6-oz glass of orange juice, $6 bowl of cereal). Had breakfast for two at another restaurant with good service, lots of food, $24 total. Had breakfast for two at the restaurant in the hotel, $54. Still hungry, food so-so. The hotel has all kinds of fancy and modern type furniture (which looks awful) and decorations but skimps on the basics (bed, bath, etc). I've stayed at better $50 hotels that offered more than this $300+ per night place. More people working in fancy clothes than I've ever seen before, must have to pay them a bunch, that's why rates are so high (and we stay in the cheapest rooms they had). All in all, worst hotel I've ever stayed at, ruined a good weekend in Chicago.
