My wife and I booked a three night stay here for our 25th wedding anniversary. They cancelled our reservation and then tried to blame Priceline for cancelling us, except Priceline said we weren’t cancelled by them and that we had a valid reservation. They admitted to Priceline that they had just overbooked, but I still ended up having to spend the next two hours scrambling to find a hotel room because of them, all while my wife, who suffers from depression and anxiety, was terribly upset by the experience. In short, I hate the Kinzie Hotel for ruining our second honeymoon.

What this hotel did to us was so outrageous that I'm not even sure it was legal. If it's not illegal, new laws should be passed to prevent it from happening in the future. They overbooked the hotel and cancelled the reservations of 60+ rooms made through third party websites (including our room). They lied and said the third party websites knew, but they didn't. What clearly happened is that they probably got higher direct offers for bookings for some large event and they got greedy, while also being irresponsible about communicating with clients. Because let's be real, how do you overbook by SIXTY ROOMS?! They refused to "walk" us over to comparable accommodations nearby, and left us in Chicago with nowhere to stay. We were standing at the curb with our luggage after they kicked us out scrambling to find a hotel on our phones. We ended up having to pay over $400 what we originally planned to stay nearby. Lastly, Jasmine and the whole front desk staff were VERY rude to all the guests this was happening to. They showed no remorse for their hotel's actions and told one upset client (who had also just found out about the overbooking) "yeah you can leave now. " As a grown woman, I have never been brought to tears from poor treatment by a business like I did when this all happened. Trash hotel. Trashy management. Trashiest customer service.

The hotel is conveniently located. The valet is pricey, there is a garage at 401 N State that is a little cheaper. I believe it’s even cheaper if you purchase online before your arrival. The hotel decor was nice, nothing extravagant. The lobby is very small. The front desk staff was not overly friendly but not rude either. The beds were a bit too hard and it was very noisy during the night.

We stayed at the Kinzie Hotel this past weekend and would not recommend it. When we got to the hotel and were given our room key, we walked in and it smelled like marijuana. It was so pungent that we immediately knew that we could not stay there and asked for another room. The hotel staff was accommodating and did provide us with one, but it did have a view of an active construction site. We were of the understanding that this was a smoke free facility. We were also of the understanding that the facility was secure. However, when we returned to our hotel room Saturday night, there was a gentleman letting people in the secured door instead of with the keycard. He did not appear to be a guest or a person affiliated with the hotel. In fact, he appeared to be letting in a transient group of friends. The lobby also smelled of marijuana as if smoking had just transpired. We understand that the city legalizing marijuana use has presented problems for hotels but hotels do have control over the activities on its property. A front desk clerk was present and made no effort to ask the non guests to leave. We then went up to our room where the odor of marijuana wafted up to the 4th floor. Also, the bathtub appeared rusty and dated.

The staff is accommodating and friendly. The room is clean and updated. The location is awesome, nearby restaurants, entertainment, and sightseeing. Overall had a great experience and would stay again if in the City.

I give this hotel a 5star & it’s been my 3rd time staying with them. The king suite city view has been one of my favorite rooms everytime we stayed. The Hotel may not be the fanciest like Trump towers but the concierge customer service is what keeps us coming back. James, Michelle & Arturo are what gives this hotel a 5 star. They are very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and are ALWAYS available to assist hotel guest with anything that is needed. I Wish we had more people like them in this world. The hotel is cute, very clean and right in the center of all restaurants (walking distance). Their priority is hotel guest safety (the most important thing). They have THE BEST Happy hour service. Breakfast every morning is also included. There’s never any long wait to check in or out. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone. James, Michelle and Arturo keep up the great job and thank you for your service you guys definitely go on and beyond for your hotel guest.

We recommend the Kinzie for numerous reasons some of which are : the staff is amazing… a room with a city view is the real thing:) walking distance to locations asThe Navy Pier and shopping Michigan Ave. And don't forget a block from 2 remarkable jazz clubs! (and a recently discovered donut shop)

Loved staying here! Great location and they had a magnifying makeup mirror which is so helpful for makeup application. The staff was always helpful and made great suggestions (like keeping our key for the remainder of the day even though we checked out so we could take advantage of the discount at the restaurant next door). They even were able to have our room ready early which was much appreciated after at 6am flight! I can not say enough nice things!

Absolutely beautiful. The service was fantastic — they gave us many recommendations about food and fun things to do as well as being very attentive to our needs. Enjoyed complimentary happy hour — yummy snacks as well.

We just stayed for one night at the Kinzie for a quick Chicago getaway. The hotel was so clean and smelled nice and our room was perfect. The location is great, too. You can find anything you need within walking distance. We say in advance it was pet-friendly, but sadly we didn’t see any dogs. For our next return, maybe we’ll ask to stay on the floor where all the pets are kept.

The location was perfect for what my husband and our friends were in Chicago to do, the valet parking was very convenient and pretty much paid for itself with the evening reception. Between the 4 of us that stayed we pretty much drank and ate more than what the parking cost! Our room was right across from the reception/breakfast area which was very nice, but kind of sucked because it was SO loud from inside the room. The staff was very friendly, especially the very nice concierge! The view from our room was okay just kind of hard to see anything! Overall it was a very nice experience and we will be back. It absolutely exceeded our expectations.

I have to say the staff here were all so friendly and helpful! We went here for a girls trip and had an absolute blast staying at the Kinzie — every staff member we saw greeted us with a smile! We will definitely stay here again next year when we come back!

Stellar service. Super nice staff. Love the location. The River North area is a great part of town to stay in. Great restaurants and bars nearby. Near enough to the river for a scenic morning jog. The rooms look brand new — nothing was out of place. Looking forward to staying here in the future.

Was just there for a social professional event. A clean place with easy access from trains. The staff which hosted happy hour were professional and more than accommodating. Would definitely come back again.

We stayed for two nights during a honeymoon tour of the US. Pretty much everything about this hotel was great and they even upgraded us for free to a suite. If I was going to be really fussy, breakfast could be more varied but it was fine.

Hits the sweet spot between affordable, sleek, & hip. Luxe comfortable everything: bed, towels, drawers, etc. Rooms aren’t huge but I felt like I could sprawl out and relax! Met nice people at wine hour, breakfast is a fairly well-supplied continental with good coffee. Wireless was slow. I’ll def be staying here again.

Kinzie hotel sent me email one day before we arrive and offer online check in option and take advantage of exclusive offers. I did follow the procedure and requested to upgrade the city view room. It was 2 rooms remaining when I requested. However, when I physically checked in, they told me there is no city view room for me. And they don't have any notes show I requested the upgrade. Front desk contact manager and looks like their system is not good enough to take care customers. Manager did waive one day room service fee $27 (we stay 2 days). However, we come Chicago once several year and want to have a good memories with family and good city view in hotel is part of the memories, but it has been ruined by their system. I would rather spend more money for 2 days good city view room and have a perfect memory in Chicago. Anyway, customer service is good and room is nice. Thank you your time to read my review. Make sure you call them before you arrive to confirm your upgrade.

The Kinzie hotel has a great location. Rooms are nicely decorated. The bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect. We stayed 1 night for the U2 concert and found the staff to be very nice but had an issue with room service. We ordered room service for dinner and were told 30-45 minutes. After 50 minutes we called down only to find out they were out of something we ordered and wanted to know if there was something else we would like to order. I'm not sure why they waited for us to call them instead of them calling back right after we ordered. We didn't have another 30-45 minutes to wait so we canceled and had to eat fast food on our way. Another small thing I noticed was that we were charged $64 for parking but the ticket they give you when you valet your car says $62. Its a small thing but shows the details get missed.

Fun and comfy place to stay for our 1 year anniversary. They sent up champagne and chocolate covered strawberries to our room! They have continental breakfast on each floor and a bar room to go hang out and drink with free snacks. Really cool place. Would def stay here again.

Beautiful rooms and view. Staff was very nice and hotel was clean. Within a short walk of river walk and the hard rock and only about a mile walk to navy pier. Great all the way around!

This was a nice modern hotel. We got a room with a bad view so they gave us tokens for free drinks that were only good for an hour, it really didn't work so it was a wasted gesture. The breakfast is served in the hallway on each floor, they need better juice options. We also had to go to another floor to get some of the stuff they didn't bring to our floor. Modern couch in each room that is really nice and almost good enough for an extra person to sleep on if need be. Good location for our ghost tour meeting place, Rain forest Cafe, McDonald's, and night clubs. We heard some of the night club folks leaving the alley parking lot ALL NIGHT LONG.

We were surprised to find an additional $30USD charge on our credit card after checkout for having booked through a third party. We've never seen this before, maybe it's a Chicago practice. The hotel itself is modern looking, beautiful, very clean, and in a great location. The bed was extremely comfortable and the mini fridge in the room was appreciated. The blinds on the big windows were a bit of a pain — they don't go up or down very easily, and were prone to falling down on their own. The front desk staff were always friendly and provided exceptional service. The happy hour every evening and continental breakfast each morning were a classy touch. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent boutique hotel in downtown Chicago. Our room was super clean and beautifully furnished. We had awesome views of the city. In the morning they had breakfast on each floor which I thought was super nice. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved staying here! Rooms are large and clean while the hotel is in a great location in the city. Every night you get to enjoy drinks and awesome food upstairs with the other guests. Breakfast is served on every floor right outside of the elevator and the staff is overly accommodating. We fell in love with the service and location and this has become one of our most frequented placed in Chicago. Worth a visit, you wont regret it.

I enjoyed my stay here in early February. The location is pretty central. You can walk to many good restaurants and places. The room I stayed at was nice with a city view. They serve breakfast in the morning out on each floor. The problems I had were with the toilet and shower. The water wouldn't stop running in the toilet because the handle was loose. The shower was still running on the drain when I pulled the stopper to run on the shower head. Overall a good experience.

My husband and I went to Chicago for our honeymoon and stayed at the Kinzie Hotel. We absolutely LOVED the Kinzie. On check-in we were given a free drink coin for each of us for each day of our stay plus an additional coin for each of us as a wedding gift. We stay in a corner room with two full walls of windows and a great view. The bathroom was so spacious and the bed was very comfortable. We weren't a huge fan of the free drinks, they weren't mixed very well in our opinions, but they were free so we didn't care too much. We stayed there in December and it was an average of 4 degrees F during our stay, and each day there was a different free hot beverage in the lobby upon our return. Breakfasts were a continental spread on each floor, and the muffins were very good. The price for such an accommodating and nice hotel was unbeatable in Chicago. We will definitely stay at the Kinzie Hotel on our next trip to Chicago and will recommend it to others.

Just checked out of Kinzie Hotel, and I'm already missing it! The front desk staff is courteous, efficient, and problem solvers and I appreciated them after a long journey to Chicago. The rooms are stylish, well stocked with amenities, towels, and the pillows are divine! This hotel is within walking distance to many eating venues, from the Public House next door to a Ruth's Chris or even Harry Caray's. I'm definitely going to add Kinzie Hotel to my stable of selected places to stay across the country. Thank you!

Loved this small hotel. Great location, awesome staff, modern week appointed rooms, comfortable beds. Perfect location to sightseeing destinations. Happy hour was very good. Continental breakfast was just enough to get us started on our day. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked this hotel online and had major issues with the web service. But the hotel itself was really great. The staff took care of all of our issues and upgraded our room for the hassle. I would highly recommend booking with the hotel and not online if you are staying on short notice. The complementary breakfast was okay not great but the hotel was very clean and well decorated. The manger turned a sour experience completely around for us.

My wife and I visited the Kinsey Hotel for four nights. We were both absolutely delighted with the room, the cleanliness, the Kinzie staff, and the amenities offered for the prices charged. Cole, our front contact, was exceptional and extremely helpful. And the included breakfast served in a continental style was awesome. Fresh fruit, bagels, muffins, cereals, juices and awesome coffee served often close to your room. Next time in Chicago, we will be back. Other hotels in Chicago can be nice, but the Kinzie was special. Highly recommended!

Loved this hotel! Happy hour everyday with free snacks of course we tipped the bar but the fact that it's even offered is awesome! Our cc gives us early check in & late check out they honored their 10% off price they went above&beyond I'd go again.

This is by far the best Hotel experience I have ever had in my life. From the moment I arrived to check out, I could not have asked for better experience. Spencer from the front desk was very charming and made me feel welcome. The ambiance of the hotel is very modern and hip, great happy hour, location is amazing and the rooms were clean and spacious. I was having a horrible trip to Chicago and would have never guessed that hotel stay could have completely turned my trip to be great.

This place was very nice, friendly helpful, and clean. When me and my family went to have dinner at the Sullivan's steakhouse around the corner, they called and told the restaurant a heads that we were coming and gave us priority seat and a free appetizer the Staff was always helpful and available. They have a nice gym area. I love the art that's in the building. Overall I enjoyed my stay P. S. For all those people who just wipe the seat down and then sit on public toilets, please stop that! Even the cleanest looking toilets will welcome the dirtiest guest and all of their bugs and nastiness!

Came here for theater with friends. Hotel is wonderful, great location, great food at happy hour and super bartenders. Gerry Medina went above and beyond to assist us with all of our needs the entire stay. Ravi the doorman was always helpful, smiling, and of great assistance. Highly recommend this hotel. Quiet and classy with excellent service.

Excellent location, and atmosphere. Very cleaned and silenced hotel. The hospitality it's awesome and the offer you free drinks for the afternoon from 5to 8 pm. The breakfast is offered at every hotel floor to enjoy in your room. It's a continental breakfast. I will come back.

It is a great location with easy access to the river walk. The room is decent. The hotel has an overall contemporary and inviting style. Everything seems to be kept up well. The staff has been very accomadating. My only complaints are that breakfast doesn't seem fresh and the coffee pot is in a difficult to use location.

The Kinzie is elegant, chic, beautifully decorated. The service is impeccable. I have to believe it must be a good place to work too because I have stayed here at least once a year for the last 3 years and have seen the same employees. This hotel is always my first choice when I visit Chicago. The location is great too, because it is within walking distance to many great restaurants, attractions and the Navy Pier.

Stayed at the Kinzie Hotel for the first time this weekend. We used the valet service for our car — awesome. We were greeted immediately when we walked in by friendly staff. While checking in they informed us of the Happy Hour from 5 — 8 pm. It was a delicious spread, far better than what you would expect. The continental breakfast was impressive as well and so convenient having on the floor we stayed on. Every time I walked by someone on the staff I was greeted and told to have a great day. Impressive! We would highly recommend the Kinzie and will definitely stay there again!

First time we stayed here. Perfect location to most places. Everyone who worked there was awesome. Room was clean and modern… great happy hour… only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars was BREAKFAST! I wasn't complaining what they had on it, I complained because you get your breakfast and go back and bring it to your room! I did not like that. I'm big on breakfast… I wanted somewhere to sit and enjoy my coffee and oatmeal… but as far as service, friendliness and overall comfort… loved it! ❤️

Nice room but I would have had to be higher than the fourth floor for a chance to have a nice view.
Our bathroom could benefit from a small discount to the tastes of the day. Good point for the excellent reception at the front desk, the people of Chicago have indeed made me feel good for their kindness and bondage (much better first impression than for the people of NYC).
Another good point for buffet style lunches that is served in front of the lifts on each floor (so you are lunching in your room).
ATTENTION: Parking is not included in the rate of your overnight stay and it is expensive to US $64, 00 per day… A small consolation, 2 tokens per couple and per night will be given to you for alcoholic drinks on the 5 to 7 of the 6èm floor. Enjoy your stay!

Beautiful city view room on the 6th floor. Rooms were clean, beds were comfy and the bathroom with lighted makeup mirror, makeup removal towel and vanity stool were awesome. Breakfast could be improved the croissants and bread items were not fresh… very dry and hard. But I won't knock a hotel for their free breakfasts as most are not the greatest. The location was perfect and had easy access to river walk and the navy pier. Would stay again!

What an amazing hotel. The little things I loved that separate them from other big name hotels include: happy hour from 5-8 with a free cocktail and appetizers, a complimentary breakfast is on every floor that you can take back to your room with a breakfast tray that is provided, black washcloth for your make-up (brilliant), and sit-down check-in. Convenient location and affordable parking garage directly behind the hotel. Super clean rooms. Will definitely stay again and recommend to friends!

We stayed on a Thursday night (3/30/2017) in room 316. Located in the heart of downtown Chicago, Hotel Kinzie provided great customer service on top of a great view. Breakfast options are great! Our room had very clean, modern decor. There was a nice bench by the large windows. The robes were my favorite! Front desk was very cordial and kept in touch with us throughout our stay. 10/10 would recommend!

I enjoyed my stay. The room was spacious, modern and very clean. The valet parking with in and out access was really convenient. The bar was adequate but who can turn down 2 free drinks. I would definitely stay there again.

Comfortable place, been several times. Beds are nice, rooms are relatively quiet. Corner one bedroom suites are lovely. Breakfast is served in the hallway by the elevators on every other floor. Kinda odd at first, but it is always decent and dining in the room is actually nicer than I expected.

I innitially wanred to go there because it was close to the concert we were going to. The room wasnt horrible but for a 4.5 star hotel I expected much better. The employees were nice. Had to pay $62/day for parking, which they didn't tell us. They charged our credit card $100 just in case we used any of their bottled water or snacks. Their continental breakfast was by far the worst I've seen. You could tell the bananas were frozen at one time. No warm food at all. I've had a better breakfast at a comfort inn. Also, rust stains on the tub and shower head wouldn't adjust like it was suppose to. In my opinion bed wasn't comfortable and some of the bedding ragged and the couch was as hard as a rock. Horrible view out the window of a somewhat alley someone was stuffing cars into. Won't go there again. Promise!

I have stayed for 4 nights at the hotel and I can say that the stay at Kinzie Hotel was fabulous. Location of the hotel is perfect, close to the subway (state/lake) which can take you from/to the airport, also you have the Chicago river, Chicago loop and the navy pier just around the area, you can basically walk everything without the need of public transport. The services at the hotel was great, on my arrival I was well informed about everything in regards of the hotel, also I received four complementary tokens which I could use for free drinks at the bar in the 6th floor. The room was big and very cozy, I like the way was decorated with the old map of Chicago city as wallpaper, the room was super clean and well maintained during my stay. Breakfast was ok, it has done the job for me but they could put more variety of stuff to eat, the food was good and also on time. This way of going to collect the food and then go to your room to eat it I have never experienced it before but as for my first time I have not complains at all, I have enjoyed it. As over all… friendly stuff, great location and amazing rooms I can say that I recommend this hotel to everyone.

Arrived early and the service was very welcoming allowing us to check in early. Rooms were VERY clean. We booked the room directly which gave us 2 free drinks per guest at the hotel bar. We entertained the offer and the bar service was great with free simple snacks for the guests. The room and bed itself was comfortable and quiet for being downtown. Would definitely recommend this place.

This hotel was very comfortable. I was 8 and a half months pregnant when I came here, the beds were comfy, and the breakfast on every floor was convenient. My husband, my 2 year old daughter, me and my unborn baby enjoyed it. The washrooms were neat and rooms were great. Not to mention how kind the staff were.

My husband and I went there for our anniversary. The service was at the hotel was excellent. The room was modern, spacious and CLEAN! I LOVED the dual shower heads. They have continental breakfast on every floor in the morning. The amenities were very nice as well. This hotel is within walking distance of Navy Pier, the John Hancock Building, shopping, Oak Street Beach, you name it. They offer reasonably priced valet service that allows you in/out privileges all day. For the service, location and room you receive, the price is VERY reasonable. The Kinzie Hotel helped make my anniversary memorable and hassle-free. I'll definitely be staying again.

I stayed here last September and had a wonderful time. Checking in again today for a few days, can't wait! So comfortable and relaxing! Had a great skyline view, hopefully we get it again! I would recommend it every time.

Two thumbs up. Booked it at the last minute (my flight out of Chicago was cancelled, and I wanted to find a cool place downtown) through Hotel Tonight and got an amazing deal. Room is spotless, comfy and hip. Happy hour food/drink did the trick, although the Happy room didn't make me want to linger (interior room which feels like a conference center) so I took my goodies back to my room where I am now lounging on the couch. Highly recommended.

Staff and room are fantastic. Just wish they had either a bigger lobby or something for after hours fun.

Would not stay here again. The shower was clogged so much that you were standing in 6 inches of water while showering. The continental breakfast coffee was way too dark and burned so we tried using the Keurig in our room. It was broken! We called and asked them to bring a new one up, but the lady didn't believe us and tried to make it work herself. Finally, she went to get a new one and brought in an electrician to unplug the old one who were both in our room for 20 minutes. Mind you, this is 9 am and all we wanted was a decent cup of coffee, not two strangers in our room while we're trying to eat breakfast and get ready for the day. We were also told by the front desk that they don't have microwaves one day and then the next day told the opposite. I have an autoimmune disease, and have to bring my own food when traveling, so my husband had to walk to a nearby hotel to heat food up for part of our stay.

This was my first time in Chicago, and I could not have asked for a better place to stay. Modern, but comfy, the room was perfect. The bed was unbelievably nice, amenities awesome (breakfast on every floor! ) and the location outstanding. This stay was great, and my trip all the worthwhile in no small part to such a great hotel. Kudos.

We stayed here our last night in Chicago (were from Detroit) and fell in love with the hotel just after reading the reviews. After checking in, we went to the Manger's Happy hour, where the drinks were strong and the atmosphere was very inviting. The room was amazing. Not an awesome view, but the room made up for it. Giant King sized bed with comfy sheets, Keurig in the room, amazing vanity to apply my makeup and guess this. BREAKFAST ON EVERY FLOOR! All we had to do was get dressed and head down the hall near the elevators where we found fruits, cereal, bagels, fresh coffee, string cheese, yogurt and other goodies. This hotel was very modern, updated and classy. I would definitely book here on our next stay to Chicago. Very comfy white robes, too :).

Really cute hotel — excellent service, great breakfast. Surprisingly quiet, comfortable beds and good water pressure. Walking distance to lots of fine dining, casual eateries and on trend food hubs — If you're a foodie — this is a hotel you will love staying at. Only a few negatives — the travel soaps and shampoos left a lot to be desired (didn't smell great — and were not luxurious) and the bathrooms could have used a more thorough cleaning. Even still — it's hard not to love this little gem.
