My husband and I had a small intimate wedding and stayed a couple of nights at The Stockade. Janice and her staff were wonderful and helped make what is usually a highly stressful day go by smoothly with all the details taken care of. Breakfast each morning was delicious and the garden room was absolutely perfect. Thank you for such a wonderful experience!

What a wonderful stay, from the convenient location across the street from my conference to the comfortable welch room and delicious Cajun/Creole breakfast. Had the opportunity to visit with the owners in front of a warm fire in the living room.

We came to Baton Rouge for one night to look at houses and decided to stay at a bed and breakfast. This place is amazing and we are so glad we chose it. The shower was amazing and the back patio was gorgeous. The breakfast was to die for and I am a very picky eater. It was a great stay and we would definitely come back!

This was an absolute beautiful place! We had our small wedding here and Janice's communication was excellent, everything was perfect. We had breakfast in our room the next morning, and it was amazing. Even though this facility is in a semi busy area, it feels like you are away from town, and it is so peaceful. My wife and I stayed here on our way to Florida for vacation from Texas and we had a wonderful experience. Beautiful place in a history rich part of historic Baton Rogue. Our room and bed were comfortable and the sheets and pillows amazing. Janice was a fantastic host and breakfast the next morning was fabulous! We will definitely stop again when passing through and will recommend to friends and family!

I reserved the garden room (second floor) and it was wonderful. Janice, her husband and the housemaids were very attentive but never made us feel uncomfortable. The food was excellent. I had to leave early for work Sunday morning, their breakfast isn't usually ready until 9am but they had it ready at 7 for us, I am very appreciative. We stayed 2 nights, after the first one I already felt like I was at home. There were other people staying there and we hardly ran into any of them, very quiet. In my opinion I enjoyed my stay even more due to crybaby (the cat). She was so friendly and cute, a very well behaved outside cat. I will be back to visit my new outside friend soon.

One of the best beds I have ever slept on. The sheets and pillows were amazing! I loved the books decorating the house. The service was amazing and everything we could have hoped for. I definitely recommend the romance package to anyone who needs a getaway with their special someone.

Lovely home in a wonderful location. Easy to get around Baton Rouge from here. We stayed in the escape room slept for comfortably very nice private bathroom. Friendly Hostess and the breakfast casserole was fabulous.

The perfect little get away. For my husband and I it was a weekend away without going far. The B&B is in the city, but once through the gates you're transported to the tranquil home away from home. If it's alone time you are looking for this is the place to travel to. You'll sleep peacefully on bedding that dreams are made of. Waken rested and looking forward to the day. Breakfast is a journey for the senses. Aromas of good ole home cooking, and sight of it, pale in comparison to the heavenly taste of it all. It's the place that when you're told, 'make yourself at home', you actually feel like you are at home. Truly a place to be experienced. I myself plan on visiting again.

Quiet place to stay in town. Location was ideal. We were able to avoid heavier traffic areas. Breakfast was hearty and delicious. Room was comfy, spacious and well appointed with necessities and beyond. Woke up to birds singing! Coffee on the deck amid the trees made getting up a welcome experience; although the comfort of the four poster bed might lure you back!

We spent a weekend here for our anniversary, we stayed in the Rex room which is very spacious and the bed was unbelievably comfortable! A very nice quiet atmosphere and, the breakfast was delicious! Highly reccomend.

My wife and I had an opportunity to stay here and we thouroughly enjoyed it! We we were in Baton Rouge for a few days and had the choice of a hotel or this. We made the right choice. The house itself is of a georgeous design and the little knickknacks decorating the interior are mesmerizing. I especially enjoyed the items surrounding the history of Louisiana. The bedroom was large and comfortably decorated and very quiet. We got a good night's sleep and the breakfast the next morning was carefully prepared to our requests. I would stay there again no question.

Was a wonderful oasis in the middle of a very busy town. Once inside the gates all noises and sites of the city were gone. My room was splendid. It was huge and beautifully decorated and the bed was unbelievably comfortable. The bathroom was also very large and I enjoyed the huge tub as well as the shower. There was my own coffee pot, which I loved and the breakfast was beyond good. The French toast was phenomenal. I met both the husband and wife and they were both very friendly and helpful with all my needs and wants. Will definitely visit again.

Very Comfortable setting. The Blue Room was very relaxing. The bed was comfortable. I will be doing a return stay. The breakfast was amazing… I'm already planning my next stay.

Located on old Highland Road, the Stockade is a beautiful, charming place. I've attended many events there and never found a single complaint. I particularly love the back patio and green areas — you would barely realize you're in the city if you didn't know better.

The room was large and beautifully furnished. We enjoyed the patio and the space to visit with our new found friends. Breakfast was delicious and every one was so very nice. We look forward to our next opportunity to stay here.

Very comfy and cozy accommodations. Janice’s breakfasts are delicious. There isn’t one negative thing I can say about this place. They go above and beyond to ensure your comfort. If Baton Rouge is on the itinerary, we’ll definitely be staying here!

This place is absolutely beautiful and we cannot say enough good about it! I booked a reservation of the Garden Room (romance room it was called) with "Red Stick Romance A La Carte" without the dinner. And we were not let down! It was a birthday surprise to my wife. My wife loved the rose petals on the bed, the private balcony, and the Jacuzzi tub. We had iced champagne with a cheese/fruit tray. The food was so tasty and the champagne was very nice — we sipped it on the balcony overlooking the trees. The bed sheets are so comfortable, we will be purchasing a pair our next visit. We will pick this over a hotel any day! Then came the breakfast in bed. Janice, the food was so good! The French toast was our favorite. We also requested mimosas with our breakfast as part of the package (mimosas or bloody marys) and it was a good call! Normally I am not a champagne drinker, but maybe it was the environment or the name of the champagne but I drank just as much as my wife did! Nothing like some mimosas on the balcony to help wake us up and get our day started. All in all it was a great stay and we are very happy we chose The Stockade. It was between them and another B&B, but I was impressed with their website so chose The Stockade — good call! Janice was very nice, the food was amazing, the room was great, and we loved the romance package. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

My family of five stayed in the Rex and Escape Rooms. They were very comfortable, clean and felt like home away from home. Janice was extremely helpful throughout our stay and made the BEST southern grits. We'll for sure be staying there in the future.

This bed & breakfast is very nice and very well kept up! The staff is very friendly and helps you with anything you need! The breakfast is delicious! Mrs. Janice's quiche is very good and also the French toast with blueberries and sauce was amazing! We always stay in the Garden Room and enjoy the balcony with a cup of coffee in the morning. The bed is also very comfortable! We started a tradition for our anniversary and stay here for the weekend every year. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

What a charming and beautiful B&B tucked away within the city. Our room, The Escape, was tastefully decorated and quite spacious. The Innkeeper is just as charming and warm. Breakfast was delicious with an assortment of fresh fruits, egg/sausage casserole, fresh homemade blueberry pancakes, creamy grits, and croissants. Coming back here in the future!

If could give this place 10 stars, I would! We stayed here this past weekend for a friend's wedding, and were lucky enough to share the whole place with our friends, and it truly was like being home. Gorgeous rooms, and the beds, so comfortable! I felt like royalty — and you can buy the sheets! Excellent is an understatement! The staff — from the innkeepers to the wonderful lady who prepared magnificent breakfasts — were top notch. We had eggs benedict, french toast, pancakes, the works! Ate like kings. I would stay here again and again, it was a wonderful experience! Thank you for adding to the perfection that was this past weekend. Loved it!

The Stockade Bed and Breakfast is a delightful little gem in the middle of Baton Rouge. Perfect for a Staycation or for family who is visiting. Each room is well appointed and unique. Morning breakfast is delicious and Janice is absolutely lovely! I can't wait to go back — and I live in Baton Rouge!

The Stockade is a beautiful, large bed and breakfast in the old section of Highland Road in Baton Rouge. The house is large and elegant with traditional southern charm, and the patio and natural flora outside is a very peaceful and relaxing area. Janice Verges, the owner and hostess, organized a phenomenal bridal shower for my best friend here. She is a kind and gracious hostess who has so much experience in hospitality management that the bridal shower with approximately 20 guests seemed effortlessly put together without a single snag, though I know she worked very hard on it. I have not seen the rooms for overnight guests, but if they are anything like the rest of the house I'm sure they are cozy and comfortable. I would rate the Stockade Bed and Breakfast over 5 starts if I could.

It is a very well kept establishment. The staff are welcoming and the food is delicious. The proprietor is a lovely women who worked as an art dealer earlier in her life and has decorated the entire building with amazing art work.

The Stockade was very accommodating. They let us check in late and offered to make my breakfast early, since I had a class to go to. The room was big and the bed was the best part. So fluffy and comfy! The only thing I'd change would be to update a few fixtures. All in all, it was great!

The Stockade has been our "go to" place whenever we are in Baton Rouge. We discovered it in the early 2000s and have stayed there multiple times since. Very nice home with beautiful grounds. We capped off our daughter's graduation from LSU by booking all but one of the rooms for our family. Janice provided a wonderful buffet dinner after the graduation ceremonies. Couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate! Looking forward to our next stay!

The house was beautiful and our room was very cozy and well equipped. The location was central and we enjoyed breakfast each morning. We will return on the next trip to Baton Rouge.

I couldn't get pass the phone call. Super rude. I told her this would be my first time there and I was rushed off the phone. I asked for two possible dates. I was told the second was available but not the first. I begin to inquire and was interrupted … Saying she was sorry they couldn't accommodate for that Saturday and try again next time… Didn't give me the option of my second choice. I've never written a review before but this was very upsetting to me. I hate bad customer service!

We enjoyed our stay here this weekend. It was home away from home. Everyone was very nice and the accommodations were far beyond what we expected. We are looking forward to our next stay there. Breakfast was fabulous! The whole experience was much nicer than your typical hotel.

The location of the B&B is perfect and not far from any events. The rooms as well as the whole house has so much charm and Janice was fantastic. No problems with the service and the breakfast was just great!

My friend and I had a delightful stay at The Stockade. Our only regret was that it had to be so short. The staff were wonderful, breakfast was delicious, and our room was clean, comfortable, and beautiful. Don't stay anywhere else when you visit Baton Rouge!

Our second stay at the Stockade this year was just as enjoyable as the first in the spring. It's in a convenient location, a wonderful sitting, the rooms are large, comfortable and clean, the bathrooms large, the breakfast delicious, and the company and conversation enjoyable. Preferring B&B's to hotels or motels, the Stockade is the model other B&B's should try to emulate! However, getting to Baton Rouge has become too much of a hassle from the west. The traffic crossing the bridge was one hour and viewing the traffic ahead from the summit, I exited to Highland Rd, the first exit after crossing the bridge. The drive to the stockade took us through LSU and lovely neighborhoods instead of creeping interminably along I-10.

The building is charming, warm and welcoming. The room we had was absolutely fabulous! It was very spacious, with comfortable beds and premium bedding. Breakfast was sensational! Good food and good conversation with other guests and the innkeepers! We will be back!

Great place. We rented out all the rooms for out of town guests and hosted a party for 40 people. Janice did an excellent job helping put it all together. We'd do it again and highly recommend this comfortable, nice B&B.

Stayed 18 May 2015 for two nights. We were delighted to find this b&b. After a long journey, we arrived earlier than the 3pm check-in time and the friendly staff welcomed us in and offered drinks and snacks whilst we waited in the lounge for our room to be prepared. We stayed in the Welch Room and were amused to see that a step was required to climb onto the bed. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was really comfortable. The lounge and dining areas were a pleasure to sit in, and breakfast was varied and plentiful. Complimentary cold drinks from the fridge were a nice touch. The restaurant opposite was an enjoyable experience, as was the Rural life museum and shopping malls a few miles away. Definately worth staying here if you're in the area.

The Stockade was the most charming and gracious Bed and Breakfast we stayed in on our several day journey from Jackson Mississippi to New Orleans. We lived in Baton Rouge for 30 years before retirement and have children in the area. By far, the Stockade is the nicest place to stay in the entire area. Chet and Catherine Spokane, Washington.

My new husband and I stayed in the Rex Room — cute, very roomy, and very accommodating! We had the Romance package A with hors d'oeurves and wine, dinner at Mansur's, and breakfast in bed. Other than the guest above us stomping every time they walked around, we couldn't have been more pleased.

We had an absolutely lovely stay at the Stockade in the Garden Room, while visiting Baton Rouge for a wedding. The place was clean and delightfully decorated, and extremely comfortable. Janice's morning quiche and coffee were superb, and she is a charming hostess.

Our initial thoughts upon entering The Stockade were, "Wow, this is better than we anticipated! " The greeter was friendly and showed us around the beautiful interior and grounds before helping us with our bags and showing us to our lovely and spacious room. We were offered a variety of fruit, drinks and snacks and enjoyed our dinner conveniently located across the street. Breakfast was good and plentiful. If we ever are close to Baton Rouge again, we will certainly stay at The Stockade.

Hubby and I stayed at The Stockade for an overnight anniversary getaway. We booked the garden room. We had our own private terrace to sit and watch the squirrels, birds and a huge raccoon play in the trees. Our room was spacious and clean. The home was comfortable and cozy. We sat in the living room and browsed through the many interesting books on display. That evening we walked across the street and ate at Sammy's restaurant. (The boiled crawfish were delicious. ) The next morning, Janice cooked us a wonderful breakfast. We ate breakfast at one large table with many wonderful guests. Breakfast was very delightful and overall we had a wonderful experience. True southern hospitality! We will definitely stay again.

This is the second time our groups have stayed at The Stockade. Each time the personal treatment, amazing breakfast and comfortable rooms are a highlight for our tour group. We arrive pretty tired after a long bike ride and it is nice to be able to walk in and get comfortable right away. Every one of our guests this time rated this night as the best night of sleep they had and everyone also loved the rooms and breakfast. Thanks again! Beer and Bike Tours.

Very much enjoyed my brief stay. A beautiful common room all decorated for Christmas and a well maintained exterior. Janice, the innkeeper, was there to greet me when I arrived and showed me to my room, The Escape. The room was huge, clean, and well lit. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were good quality. My only suggestion would be to update the bathroom. The bathroom decor is a little dated and the lighting is dim with no light in the shower. I was not able to stay for breakfast as I had to leave very early, but I will definitely be staying at the Stockade again on my next trip to Baton Rouge.
