Staying here for 2 weeks! Great location, pool (happy hour) and great gardens.

Our flight was cancelled and we needed a place to stay for a night. We were able to get two rooms here and it was a lifesaver. The grounds are gorgeous and right on the beach. The staff is so friendly and were willing to accommodate us for our late flight. Will definitely use this place again when returning to Kauai. 🌺

Beautiful view of the sunrise on the ocean. Just sitting on the shores in front of the hotels, you could see whales, seals and sea turtles. And of course roosters, hens and chicks! 😁 Landscape is beautiful and you're in walking distance to Coconut Marketplace.

Great location, quiet environment!

The Aston Islander was a great location. It is the one thing going for it. The pool and beach area are small but fun. The beds, towels, pillows and bedding have to be updated. They are sub par. There are no elevators so be ready to get your steps in!

Aston Islander on the Beach is the perfect spot for a Kauai vacation. It is located about halfway between the north side and the south side, so all of the sites on Kauai are a short drive away. We previously stayed in an ocean front unit, but this time, we stayed in an ocean view unit (#342), which had a gorgeous view of the pool and the ocean just behind it. There is a bike path being built that will go all the way up to Donkey Beach and right in front of Islander is the Coconut Marketplace with lots of restaurants, shops, and a small grocery store. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Staff are so friendly and accommodating. Location is perfect! We have stayed here many times and highly recommend this authentic Hawaiian paradise.

My husband and I stayed at the Islander because we were able to get an amazing deal and I am sure glad we took the chance staying here. The staff is so friendly, the rooms are clean and well kept, and the pool bar and pool area are excellent. The bar makes some mean Mai Tai’s and pina colada’s. Also, the ocean is just steps from any room you stay in. This hotel is also close by so many shops and restaurants. Highly recommend staying here!

This is a great place to stay. The size of the resort is good in that it doesn't have an overly large amount of rooms so it wasn't to busy but also not to far from the front to the beach. All of the staff have been friendly and it's clean.

An enchanting atmosphere surrounding by the abundance of paradise in the living! Very tranquil and beautiful grounds. The staff are all very delightful and with refreshing spirits. Aston Islander on the Beach is the place 2b in Kapa’a, Hawaii!

Great place to stay, loving being in the East enjoying the slower pace and being right on the coast is amazing! Great service and people take good care of you! And prices aren’t bad either. Picture taken right outside our door!

Fantastic views very well kept clean grounds and beautiful pool. Great location with many options for food and stores within walking distance.

Essential amenities. Pool and hot tub are great as is poolside bar. Bartender is great Rooms facing sea get sunrise and surf sounds. Shops on or near property but never obtrusive. Concierge was very accommodating. Ashton is made up of privately owned as well as frequent and first time guests. Family friendly.

Great views. Great location. Front desk staff is first rate: very friendly, very helpful. Housekeeping seemed understaffed but ours was attentive and competent.

Note: My review takes into consideration the price. For the price, you can't beat it. On the beach (pretty but not great for swimming). Nice walking path. Nearby Kapaa continues to get nicer…

We were looking for something cheaper. It is nothing special. Rooms are cleaned well every day. Pool area is nice. Toilet is a little old and rusted. Comes with a few kitchen supplies. There is a market, coffee shop, and restaurant right out front. You get a free coffee or lemonade at the pool bar every day, 2 free DVD rentals (but who has time for that when vacationing in Hawaii? ) as well has a discount at a local restaurant (for lunch) and activities discount. Good location between the north and south shore. I would recommend to friends but if I were to come back I'd probably try some place new.

Very comfortable place, the rooms are very large. It is on the sea (although not the best on the island). Close to many markets if you want to save. Halfway between the north and south of the island. Great.

Thank you Aston Islander on the beach! for making our time here so special and full of just everything. The hospitality provided has been so splendid, personal and fantastic. The staffs are full of Aloha spirit. This place bring out the best in our vacation, our kids really enjoyed running around with the chickens first thing in the morning. Such a beautiful place to stay & relax not too crowded and very convenient next to the market place. The best part that I really enjoyed was waking up early in the morning and just waiting for the sunrise and captured some beautiful photos. I’m looking forward for the next time. Alma P.

The hotel is quaint, all of the wood work throughout the place is exquisite. The pool, hot tub and the beach were a great and just a few steps apart. The only drawback is there's no elevator but the staff will help with the luggage. There are plenty of places to eat and shops within walking distance of the hotel. The Market Place has pretty good prices and tasty food. The hotel is centered in the middle of everything by car. There are plenty of parking spaces close to the hotel as well.

Aston Islander was recommended by a few friends and they did not disappoint! Jade at the front desk and Diane, concierge, was so kind, so helpful. Everyone we met there was just so nice. Our room, Kauai building was just steps from the ocean. Such a quiet beach, so low key! Everything I ever dreamed of!

Busy place in the first week of May. Rooms are good and grounds are inviting and well manicured. Party life can infringe on quality time at the beach. Excellent restaurants nearby. Place looks more like a mall than a resort when you come in but you just have to make it to the beach and you'll forget the massive parking lot and outdoor mall that you have to go through to get to it.

Since we had such a great stay earlier in our trip, we decided to come back for the rest of our stay on the island. Huge Mistake! We were put in a room above the lobby this time. It’s now almost midnight and I’m wide awake from the nightclub band across the parking lot. My wife talked to someone at the front desk and they said they were sending security over to turn it down. This is ridiculous!

Very chill place. Laundry machines available. Has a parking lot. Room has a PS3 and there's a machine next to the lobby that lets you rent movies and a few games for free. Room also has a fridge, a microwave, coffee maker, dishes and a small sink. Coffee shop and restaurants right outside. Has a bar and a pool and of course is right on the beach. Staff has been very friendly. If you aren't into being pampered (and we aren't), you'll love this place.

A great hotel in a great location. The rooms and grounds we're very well maintained. While there are no restaurants on the property, there are several restaurants and food options within very easy walking distance. The hotel sits behind a pretty shopping center that offers clothing, souvenirs and activities for families when in season (family movie nights on the lawn). The hotel offers free DVD rental which we used and enjoyed this amenity. Our only complaint was the sometimes long lines and slow service at the front desk. However the service was always friendly. The rooms could use some updating but again, everything was clean. This is a great budget friendly hotel and would highly recommend it.

Low key relaxing property sitting on a long narrow beach. All of the rooms seem to have at least a partial ocean view or a pool view. Non of the rooms have a parking lot view. The pool and hot tub are small as is the pool bar. Rooms are quiet, clean and comfortable. Although Islander on the Beach doesn't have an on-site restaurant we enjoyed the proximity to Lava Lava Beach Club, a neighboring restaurant with great food and drinks. A couple of other dining options are also within walking distance.

Great resort. There are bigger, more expensive resorts with more amenities nearby (even one basically next door), but if you don't need every last amenity and if you'd rather save money, then Aston Islander on the Beach gives you everything it advertises. The service is extremely nice, and very helpful. The area looks like a resort (the pictures from the gallery on their website are pretty spot on, honestly), and there is a pool there if you'd rather not go to the beach, but you went to Kauai anyway. Also tip from a fellow tourist: I went to their lobby to ask for an extra towel, and they gave me a cookie. I'm not really sure why they had a cookie, but they did. Oh and the room came with popcorn, and I get that popcorn is cheap, but what a way to serve the people who don't always want to be outside, even when they're on vacation. Nothing wrong with a movie night in (or just eating popcorn because, hey, it's popcorn).

Pretty great hotel, slightly dated motif. Also they use PlayStation for video and TV and our seemed to be on the fritz. Then again who watches TV in Kauai?! All and all I would stay here again and recommend it to others.

Location is good, close to a lot of places on the East coast and North side of the island. View is good, you can walk 2 min to the beach to watch sunrise/sunset. Amenity is a little bit old, I can smell the aged wood in the room, but not too bad. What I can't stand is the noise of the roosters around the hotels, they wake me up since 3am. If you are a ligjt sleeper, this is not a good place for you.

Got the oceanfront room for a good price, make sure you let the hotel know what exactly is the view you want. Not all oceanfront rooms have the doubledoor rooms to the beach. We were not happy with the room we got, maybe we expected a lot from seeing the pictures online. Otherwise a nice stay with courteous staff. Will recommend.

This was a great place to stay. Very centrally located, so we could get anywhere on the island. And right on the beach, with beautiful views! Our balcony had amazing ocean views. We enjoyed the beach trail nearby for running. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, pool bar, and live music. The hot tub was great after a day of hiking! The prices were excellent! We stayed in May 2016.

Rented here from a private party so I will just comment that the room was great. As for the resort, my only complaint was the spa was hot at all. Just barely warm. Pool was nice. There was a very good live entertainment by the pool one night. To sit there and enjoy a drink, looking out over the beach and ocean and hearing the great music really sets that Hawaiian ambiance and mood. I'm use to staying at nicer resorts but I would stay here again. Out in front of the resort are a lot of stores, restaurants and a stage. We ran into this guy in the picture signing. Some people might recognize him from the Coco Palms resort. An old buddy of Elvis.

Nice rooms, had one of the condos directly facing the ocean, beautiful views! Very safe feeling location, plenty of places to pick up supplies (drinks, snacks, coffee, etc) just a short walk across the parking lot. Super close to Luhie airport, whole island is easy to drive from this location. Would definitely stay here again!

Such a beautiful getaway resort with a significant other or even kids! Older place but affordable & definitely decent, clean & safe. Security walking around every day. Cute lanai. Waterfront/ocean view is amazing. Sunrise & moonrises are absolutely beautiful! Convenient kitchenette. DVD rentals. Clean & relaxing pool & outside jacuzzi. Comfy sheets! Concierge service is so helpful for booking excursions. Highly recommend Islander on the Beach! Would definitely stay again.

This place isn't super fancy. But the staff was pleasant. The rooms are clean. The island is georgous. They also offered free DVD rental for when you needed to get out of the sun. On site laundry. Would definitely go back.

The Aston is a nice resort, older but decent accomdations. Our room was right on the water making easy to watch the beautiful sunrises and take long walks along the beach. We were fortunate in that during our 10 day stay we saw a whale from the shore line, a sea turtle came into feed and a monk seal decided that he had enough to eat and beached himself on the beach about 200 feet from our room. We made our reservations through Costco which I would strongly urge you to do if you want to save a few dollars. The amenities at the Aston include Tour Guide service, pool, outdoor bar, and gas grills poolside. It was our second trip to Kauai and the Aston and we loved every minute of it.

My favorite place to stay when in Kauai! Ocean views, private beach, and personal lanai. Affordable room with kitchenette, plates, silverware, in room coffee maker, microwave and more. Everything you need all in one place. Centrally located on the island. You can walk to the Coconut Marketplace for shopping, hula show, farmer's market and food! Affordable and the most friendly staff around. Love this place!

Loved our stay here! It's not a super fancy resort with waterfalls and swim up bars, but it's comfortable and a great location right on the beach in Kapaa. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming, especially Casie at the front desk. She gets 5 stars! The central Kapaa location is convenient to drive all around the island and is close to shopping. I enjoyed getting fresh gourmet coffee each morning at the nearby Imua cafe, and The Sandbar by the pool has the best Happy Hour! I would definitely return here and highly recommend it.

My wife and I just checked in to the hotel for our honeymoon and I must say the place is outstanding. The rooms are wonderful the grounds are extremely well kept and it's a short walk to the ocean.

This location is amazing. The staff is very polite and will treat you with so much Aloha. The view from our room was stunning and the location is near many excellent places to eat. We will definitely return. What I really enjoyed was the fact the beach was a real Hawaii Beach. This is Kauai and I was hoping it wasn't a watered down beach. Location is close to the North Shore beaches as well. So happy we stayed here.

You stay here if you care about location at a great price. There is a decent beach steps away from your room. Numerous restaurants are within walking distance. If you want to go north or south for a day trip, you're staying at the midway point. Each time we have stayed here the only variation is with who owns/maintains the room. The variations are small and some have more amenities or are cleaner than other. Not to say any have been dirty but if you're a neat freak or detail oriented you'll notice little things (nasty wicker table ingrained with grime, yuck! ). I wouldn't recommend if you have a couple children or parties more than 2. It's perfect for a couple on a budget that cares more about sightseeing than sitting by the pool.

No parking due to a loud noisy Bar in parking lot. The Bar kept us awake Thursday through the weekend. Loud noisy patrons in the parking lot. Security told us to find parking elsewhere didn't have time to rid the parking lot of Bar patrons. The rooms are small. The terraces are dirty. The beach is coral reef… the list goes on.

Don't listen to idiot reviews of people who rented from privately-owned units and expected to access everything. What more do you need than a bed and a pool in paradise? Don't come to Hawaii for the room, come for the adventures! These units are in a lovely, beach front area of an amazing spot on the island. MUCH more of a local feel than Princeville (which reminded me of suburbia ANYWHERE usa — golf course etc). As a home base, you couldn't ask for more.

Scroll down on review for bullet point list of what I liked/disliked about the resort. They treat you like crap if you own a private unit or are renting a private unit. If you are a guest at this hotel and you rent a room through the actual hotel, you'll probably have a good stay, but I don't know. However, half of the resort is owned by private parties, including other businesses, and so my family rented one of them from a private business, as they were slightly better deals, and I figured we would have a stay relatively equivalent to someone renting from the resort itself, and I knew to expect not getting some things other guests got, but it ended up being very mediocre. The only things you'll get from the resort if you don't rent a room through them is their pool and free coffee in the morning. >>>Here is what I liked about Islander on the Beach: -Great central location in Kauai -Beach front with nice sand -Sound reducing windows -Every room has a view of the ocean -Beds are comfortable -Pool -Nice well kept landscape -Most employees were very nice (until they found out you were staying in a private unit) >>>Here is what I disliked: (Some of these are due to me staying in a room owned by a private party and the hotel REFUSED to take care of them) : -NO ELAVATORS: Be ready to haul your luggage and hope no one in your group has leg problems.

Excellent staff at the resort. Casey at the front desk is very competent, courteous and helpful. We were in ocean front rooms and had a great view, Rooms were cleaned every day — which is nice! Beach is okay but one can go couple miles in each direction to find better spots. I wish resort would add breakfast in the amenities. Overall we had a great experience.

Great price for an ocean front room. Love the free DVD rentals, nice pool. What is missing is an option for breakfast, even a simple one. Bed was really uncomfortable and it's the only reason for 4 stars. Room is nice, not very big. Overall we had a great time here.

It is a very basic cinder block motel on the beach. The bed was really uncomfortable and we were charged a resort fee but I'm not really sure what it was for — the pool? On the plus side, it was clean.

Great place for what you pay. Friendly staff. Great ocean views. Pool area is lacking but surprisingly the towels are identical to the Hyatt's so you can fit right in there. Free dvd rentals is a great perk.

Excellent location for visiting anywhere on the island. Great value for a room directly on a private beach. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. A bit older and not fancy, but the perfect place to stay while enjoying the most beautiful of the islands.

Not too shabby, however, BS $ 18 /day charge which they laid on me at check in made a good price not so good and gave a terrible first impression. Wasn't disclosed via travelocity and when I told them they told me to "tell travelocity". :) my reaction, no you tell travelocity. The charge is for Wi-Fi, PlayStation 3, and a newspaper. Wi-Fi is useful but who the hell fly's 3500 miles to play video games and who even reads newspapers any more. I prefer charges like this be made known before I buy so I can budget my trip accordingly.

Gorgeous property, friendly and helpful staff, and a great value. Our room = a partial ocean view room on the 3rd floor and it's awesome, beautiful and private (so good in fact, we are glad we didn't pay the premium to be "ocean-front"! ) The (never crowded) beach and the pool bar are our favorite places on the property, and the resort is VERY conveniently located for Kapa'a town (you can walk to a lot of shops and restaurants if you are inclined) and for the island in general, as you have about equal access (driving) to both the North Shore and the South Shore.

Nice ocean front view, spacious room. I didn't like how they boasted about a continental breakfast and it turned out to be donuts and coffee, maybe some from. I didn't like that there was no stove. Room service was great, they lend bath towels for daily returns. It was OK.

Definitely cheaper than a lot of other hotels, but some of the bathroom and doors needs attention (rusting, etc. ), however, the landscaping is breathtaking. Also "beachfront" room is across from the walking path, not like other "beachfront" condos I was familiar with. Still would recommend if staying on that part of the island and want an economical choice.
