I am currently staying here for the week with my husband while he gets some things done at MacDill AFB. The one thing I will say deserves 3-4 stars is the price. For the price, most of what you are getting is worth what you are paying. The room is large and clean. Its a bit dated, and you can tell they've had to work to update/renovate these rooms, but it definitely could be worse. My disappointments consist of the following: when we checked in my husband said he'd prefer to be in a room that has a mini-fridge. The girl who was helping him said she would try to get us into one. Then she proceeded and said, "would you like a room on the second or first floor? " We ended up with a 2nd floor room, but we found we didn't have a mini-fridge. Might not seem like a big deal to you, but if you ask for something specific (whatever it is), you should be notified if there are none available with that specific thing you asked for before you decide on which room. And I am 95% sure that at any given time this place is about half-occupied. Breakfast is sub-par. Also: there are no laundry facilities, which I find this odd and annoying. Most hotels I have stayed in (nice or not) have some sort of laundry facility. Overall, its not awful, but definitely not the Marriott or Hilton. Its good for the price you are probably paying. I just have to remind myself that we're staying here to save a bit of money for the week. **UPDATE (6/23, after check out) : The bottom of the door to the outside is not sealed (when you go to bed, you can see the light coming through the bottom). The hotel/motel is situated right next to/behind the IHOP, and we woke up to the sound of them draining their grease trap once (which was REALLY loud for 7-8am). We had a cockroach on the bathroom sink while we were there. The tub was slow in draining (within 30 seconds of turning on the shower, my feet were submerged in water that hadn't drained yet), which we meant to call the front desk on, but never got around to it. In my opinion, that kind of stuff should be checked regularly. We asked the maid for extra towels and she gave us almost twice as many! I'm not sure why, but the police were there every morning (just hanging out in the parking lot). I don't know if this La Quinta Inn is known for crime and thats why they stay (? ) but it made me feel a little bit safer knowing they were right there.
