The service from this hotel is amazing, they make feel very welcome, the room very clean and very comfortable bed, plus breakfast is very complete and yummy. I highly recommend this place.

Literally the most cozy Inn / Hotel I’ve had the pleasure of staying in. The people were kind, the staff was delightful, and the pool was a sight to see. Not to mention how well preserved the plant life and architecture is 🌞🦋❤️🦌🌿

This is one of the best "unknown " motels we have ever stayed in! reasonably priced, super friendly and helpful staff. Their free breakfast is amazing! Not just cereal or a Danish, not here! I'm talking scrambled eggs, bacon one day, sausage the next, pancakes one day, French toast the next, cheesy grits. Real food. Highly recommend this place to anyone. Something I have never seen at any other motel, their pool has a chair lift for getting handicap people in pool!

Super staff, very clean. Highlights are the shuttle to downtown, and an amazing breakfast. The rooms are on the small side.

We highly recommend this hotel. They have the best hot. Breakfast buffet of fresh scrambled eggs, hash brown, bacon or sausage, juice, milk, etc. The lobby has coffee as well as rooms. Newly renovated and comfortable rooms, The grounds have a gazebo, pool, beautiful landscaping with bougainvillea, and huge Oak trees. Shuttle service from hotel to old town (free and tip the driver). Friendly accommodating Staff. We have been here many times. Look no further for a lovely hotel!

Beautiful Inn located in St Augustine Florida. Clean with extremely friendly service. Close to everything. Totally enjoyed our stay.

LOVED IT! Our room was updated and very clean. The king bed was comfy. The staff was super friendly. The full breakfast was delicious. There was a very well-maintained dog park and pool. Front desk sent you a text when you check in to see if you need anything. They have dog beds and bowls in the rooms if you need them. Such a thoughtful concept to have a pet-friendly establishment that doesn’t just tolerate pets, but completely caters to them. An incredible motel for the price. I would 100% stay here again!

No time to eat Breakfast, extra charges that they don't disclose when you check in even when you prepay. Don't except to use Amex when it's listed at the front desk. Don't look for them to disclose charges till you get a bill and to not make it right. We won't stay there again when we go back to visit the area.

Customer service is good. The breakfast is free and passable. Eggs in a chafing dish and reheated sausage patties. The rooms are good and the place seems like it was recently given a coat of paint but I have noticed that their ducts are in serious need of cleaning. Even spending an hour in the room is enough to send me into sneezing fits and make my eyes water. This place is okay but next time I'm in St Augustine I'll probably stay closer to the historic district.

Booked last minute at this hotel. It was the least expensive in the area which made me a little nervous. Reviews were great so I was hoping to have a good experience. Pulled up late at night to a very clean, manicured well lit hotel. The front staff was super friendly and over accomadating. The room you can tell has been renovated and was very clean. Love the fact that they don't have carpets. Beds could have been a little more comfortable but it wasn't a deal breaker. Breakfast was included and served by a friendly staff. Pancakes, French toast, eggs, sausage, home fries amongst other options were available. Overall great experience and would recommend to anyone who wants to stay on a budget while not sacrificing cleanliness or quality.

We had a nice stay here. The staff was professional and nice. The breakfast is complete and delicious. The pool is warm and open from sunrise to sunset, which gave us time to visit the city and come back after dinner. The rooms are spacious, but I did not like the toilet and that they don’t offer toiletries.

Cute, clean and convenient! Comfy bed and nice hardwood floors, big shower. Pool is huge and very well maintained. Staff is helpful and friendly. Landscaping was pretty and lush. Free breakfast was great. We loved that downtown St. Auggy was so close and there are numerous local spots for coffee and such. The fenced in dog park was adorable too. It is close to a main road which is busy but the noise was minor. We would definitely stay here again and look forward to it!

We had planned a trip to the East coast and were looking for a nice Hotel. We had found one prior to finding this one. So after reading the reviews for Southern Oaks Inn. We decided to change and we are so glad we did. We checked in and got into the room and it was such a super clean room and everyone was so friendly and polite all the way to the house keeping staff. The pool had looked like it was redone and very clean area. The breakfast was great every morning something more then just toast and cereal like most " Continental breakfast" they had eggs bacon potatoes grits. So then we decided to stay an extra night. If you are looking for a GREAT place to stay. I would definitely recommend them. The location is great to all the attractions and convenient.

We booked Southern Oaks for our weekend trip due to price, location, and the fact that it is dog-friendly. We will definitely return again. The inn is older with outside corridors and fairly small rooms, but our room was nicely updated and very clean. The dog park area is very well-kept and spacious, and there are other large grassy lawns where you can exercise your dogs. While it's possible to walk downtown, it's a bit of a hike, so we drove and paid to park downtown. It was also a 15 minute drive to St Augustine beach. There are restaurants, shopping, and pharmacies within easy walking distance. There is a free shuttle available, but we didn't use this service since we had our dog. There's a a Red Train stop directly across the street if you plan to purchase tickets for this shuttle/tour service. We didn't use the swimming pool during our stay, but it looked well kept. The included breakfast was better than we expected. It is dine-in only, so plan ahead for that.

Very nice place with incredibly nice people working there. One of the highest levels of hospitality that I've experienced. Very nice and up to date rooms and amenities. Also the continental breakfast was super amazing every morning we were there. Definitely choosing it again for a future visit to the area.

What a great stay we had! The service was absolutely excellent from the friendly and informative check-in and check-out, as well as the service at breakfast. The breakfast host was very friendly as well as the entire breakfast staff. Delicious breakfast buffet that included eggs, cheese grits, sausage, pancakes, French toast, as well as the usual items you would find (coffee, juices, cereal, bagels, etc). The pool was nice when we went for a swim in the evening. They are a pet friendly hotel and do a great job of taking care of dogs as well. We would definitely go back to this property!

Clean, spartan rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Very good breakfast. Enjoyed swimming in the pool, however hotel is on a very busy street and traffic noise is a constant when outdoors. Our room was quiet. For the price it was a good value.

Leaving five stars because the service is fantastic! My husband and I stopped for one night in St Augustine while on our way to Orlando and were very pleased with the staff and the facility. The room was very clean, climate control was great, and breakfast was the best continental breakfast I've ever had (cheese fries were the best! ). Not one person gave us the impression that they were just here to do a job, they all seemed to really have the best interest of guests in mind. Stay here if you want a good, clean, happy, safe place to stay!

This place has exceeded my expectations. The staff has been friendly, professional and helpful. The rooms are nice and provide all the basic needs. Decor is updated and modern. The hotel grounds are beautiful and well kept. Breakfast is always fresh and hot. Menu is changed daily. Room prices were reasonable. Location is about 8 to 10 minutes North of downtown. Overall experience was positive and I felt like a valued customer. We stayed 5 days at this hotel. Outdoor pool was nice too. Great place for a family or a couple. 5/17/18

Clean rooms with lots of outlets for electronics. Clever black "cosmetic" washcloths so I don't feel guilty ruining towels when washing off mascara. The best free breakfast I've ever had with eggs and cheesy grits. The breakfast special changes each day of the week. The staff is amazing. The service attitude is right up there with Ritz Carlton. I was in the parking lot and asked where the trash can is. The maintenance guy held out his hand and offered to toss the trash for me. We checked the oil in our car a few times. Within minutes of raising the hood, someone would come out and ask if everything was all right. The front desk staff were sweet and very helpful. I've already returned once, even though I was hoping for a place a little closer to the historic district. This is over a half hour walk to the Bridge of Lions.

The rooms were really nice! Beds and pillows were fabulous! They offered a pack n play for the kids which was awesome! The staff was great and very accommodating! The free breakfast in the morning was actually good! They offered big portions and the staff was beyond friendly!

The office staff and grounds staff are wonderful. But that's where it stops. The motel looks really nice and the grounds staff do a great job with the outside, it's when you get in the rooms is where the problems begin. I first walked in my room and noticed cobwebs then I looked at the chair in the room, the seat was covered with human stains, if you know what I mean. The next day I got up so I was able to see the room even better, that's when I really got disgusted, one of my pillow cases had dried blood stains on it. I took the case off and put it on the floor and grabbed a pillow from the other bed. Went and had their breakfast which was powdered eggs, eggo waffles, pancakes that are as heavy as bricks, sausage and bagels. It took until 8pm for housekeeping to finally get to my room and she did not change my sheets, she picked up the pillowcase and put it back on the pillow. I was there for several days and she would put it back on day after day until I turned it in to the office. The whole time I was there my bedding was never changed, she would just pull the sheets up, not even tuck them in. Also you only have the toilet paper that's on the roll, if you run out like I did, good luck cleaning staff doesn't speak English. The day I left l was curious if the other bed had clean sheets on it so I pulled those covers down and got real disgusted. The bottom sheet had blood stains and yellow stains and also had hairs in the bed. YUCK!

This place was great. I wasn't sure what to expect and I usually don't like staying in hotels that have the room door facing the exterior. However, I was pleasantly surprised … this place is close to the old town, very clean, and the price was just right. The kids loved the pool as well. And breakfast… oh my… best breakfast I've ever had included with the stay. I mean the cheese grits were amazing… enough said. Will stay there again.

Excellent place, nice, neat and convenient.

Rooms were small and dated. Uncomfortable beds and pillows. Grounds were well kept and breakfast was decent. Also the staff was very nice. A bit too far from the historic district to walk. Nice coffee shop around the corner, Fort Menendez and Red Train stop across street.

Wonderful affordable 4 nights stay. Quaint property that is clean, well maintained and pet friendly. All staff were very pleasant, polite and helpful. Included free hot breakfast. For the price this place can't be beat.

Spectacular customer service is well worth the price! This moderately priced hotel offers well-maintained rooms, pool and hotel grounds and while this is an older hotel, it is clean and well kept with a cozy retro feel. If that gives you pause, fear not because the customer service is outstanding. Our room had a broken fridge when we arrived and within minutes they had replaced it. When we asked for extra pillows, towels and directions all staff members we’re happy to accommodate us and did so with a positive demeanor. From the front desk crew to the maintenance crew, all staff members treated us like family. If that’s not enough, the awesome free breakfast in the morning adds southern hospitality to your stay.

The Southern Oaks Inn is excellent for the price. The rooms are clean and they provide an above average breakfast. Breakfast features quite a few hot options. The prices are very reasonable for what you get. It is pet friendly, so if you have pet allergies, you might want to look elsewhere (although they do offer non-pet rooms). There are microwaves and fridges in each room. The only downsides were that the Wi-Fi wasn't very good, and our room smelled slightly off (likely related to us having a pet room, which is our fault).

The staff engaged every guest as if the hotel was their own. We had an issue with our rooms one night (our fault) and housekeeping came and took care of it immediately. I would Recommend this getaway to anyone.

A great and affordable place to stay while visiting St. Augustine. Clean and comfortable rooms. Super friendly staff that make sure your stay is to your satisfaction. The morning breakfast is good and makes it easy to stay your day. The Inn is pet friendly and has plenty of room for you to exercise your furry four paw companion (s). Would definitely stay here again on our next visit to St. Augustine.

Staff greeted us warmly late in the evening and took exceptional care of us after another motel which was advertised as pet-ftiendly turned out not to be. They even had a doggie treat for our four legged family member. They recommended a great restaurant for a late dinner. Room was clean and roomy. We would stat here again.

Nice friendly staff. Called the room about 15 min after we checked in to make sure we had all we needed. Great breakfast, better than the usual. Always clean. Impressed that they have smoking areas that have a bench and a butt receptical to prevent litter. Have stayed hete before and will again.

Nice hotel and staff. Near to Downtown area and museums, approx. 4min driving. The location is perfect because it is very close to the important places but at the same time far from the crowd. Easy access and parking. They are so Pet friendly that they have their own dog park in the north part of the hotel. Breakfast is regular, it is not mega fabulous but enough to start your day. I didn't like the juice but for the rest was fine. Everything is super clean and nice TV channels. I highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a short vacation to this Awesome city.

Southern Oaks Inn is conveniently located. It is close to many tourist parts of St. Augustine but far enough removed to allow for parking ease. It is also across the street from a 24-hour pharmacy. Important to mention the rooms are clean and comfortable. Each room has its own air-conditioning drawer, which makes a fabulous noise for sleeping. Spend the night with my wife and two dogs, we were very comfortable. The hotel has a large area of grass for the dogs which was well maintained. Keep in mind the parking lots are in front of the doors of the rooms. This is very handy for unpacking suitcases, and puppies, but if you have a guard dog, will each time that you park someone. I woke up a couple of times to shut up my dog, but do not blame the hotel. I would stay at hotel Southern Oaks Inn again and recommend it. Thank you!

Love it! Clean comfortable convenient. Everyone is so nice. Fresh cooked hot breakfast. Coffee tea cookies and even dog treats in the lobby. Great dog park right outside our room. Third time here and just booked to stay again.

Nice clean facility. Staff is friendly and helpful. Felt safe outside my door. Dogs permitted. Even our 70+ pound poodle. Serves complimentary breakfast.

We stayed here for the first time November 6th for 4 nights and were not disappointed. Cant say enough good things… pet friendly & has a fenced in dog run, a huge grassy lot for you and your dog on a leash to walk, clean rooms, good Wi-Fi, comfortable king size bed, friendly and helpful staff, really good hot breakfast each morning, helpful staff in the breakfast area, good coffee available at all times. Actually, there's nothing bad to say, which is a good thing! We will definitely be back again when we come to St Augustine. Thank you! Dana and Carl DeSha.

Outdated hotel. The front desk staff were great but the cleaners weren't as friendly. A lot of loud drunk guests next to us screaming in the early mornings and the hotel did nothing to stop them. Furniture had visible wear and tear and shower was visibly used.

Recently stayed at Southern Oaks Inn with a large group of people (The Happy Wanderers Walking Club and other AVA walk clubs) and were very happy with everything Staff in the lobby were extremely friendly and helpful, very comfortable sitting area with coffee, tea, and water no matter what time of day. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and looked like they were recently renovated, very modern. The free breakfast experience was more than what we expected, they even had servers dishing out pancakes, waffles, eggs, bacon, sausage, etc. Along with many other items to choose from the self-serve counter. We had a mixer in this room on Friday evening and it held our very large group comfortably, and staff was willing and able to assist in whatever we needed. Nice pool, quiet streets. A little far to walk downtown but we didn't mind since we're all walkers. There is a city shuttle to take you downtown. I would definitely stay here again.

The worst hotel of my life the dirty rooms with dust and bad smell, the breakfast pesimo, and the attention big shame the previous night we asked for a blanket extra and never brought them the truth pesimo hotel.

A quiet and well located Hotel.

We very much enjoyed our stay here it was very peaceful, clean and everything we were looking for. The staff was very friendly, and the breakfast was very nice, there were hot cooked foods and easy quick to go if needed or prefered, you don't see that much at most other places. The rooms were very clean and nice including the wood floors, and even the outside was very well put together and kept up with. I loved the rows of rocking chairs along the outside as well making the evening very relaxing. Thank you for a great stay.

Great place, the rooms are well kept and mostly upgraded. The bathroom, while small, is nice and clean, same as the rest of the room. Breakfast is the dining Jewel for this hotel however. Full breakfast, and heaping helpings. The wife and I didn't feel hungry again until late afternoon. Over all a good stay. Deducted 1 star for the had beds, although, I'm used to something more plush.

The rooms are kind of small but clean and beds are not very comfortable. Front desk was quick, helpful and friendly and they had daily breakfast with different items daily which was a plus. However, the African American lady serving breakfast seemed very angry with everyone all the time and quite unhappy being there. We felt bad for her since she was the only one serving breakfast and it was very busy. I don't know why now they serve you when before we served ourselves and the line would move quicker. I don't know if we will be returning because of that but it is an affordable place to stay at and if you have a dog it's definitely a good place to stay at St Augustine.

Found this hotel on Google when we were looking for a pet friendly hotel. The staff has been very friendly and helpful, the room has good space with 2 queen beds. My only minor issue is the smallish bathroom/shower area, however, it works. And finally the little enclosed dog area is wonderful for letting our 2 dogs space to roam when we take them for a walk.

Awesome hotel. The rooms are very clean, have comfortable beds, and are a fair size. Good complimentary breakfast in the morning. It is located fairly close to all of the sights & things to do. Definitely will go back again.

Good 2 star motel. Place is a bit older, but the rooms have been updated. The pool area is nice but closes at sundown. The complimentary breakfast is delicious and well worth it. Stayed here due to proximity; would consider it again if I needed to return to the same location.

We booked a last minute trip to St. Augustine and were somewhat nervous about this hotel because it seemed like almost too good of a good deal… but boy, were we pleasantly surprised! You can't beat the location — everything you need is within 2 miles. We also brought our small dog with us and stayed in a pet-friendly room, which worked out perfectly. You couldn't tell that any pets had ever stayed in our room before, it was very clean. The service and breakfast were out of this world. Every single person we encountered at the front desk graciously answered all of our questions and were so kind. The breakfast was the best hotel breakfast we have ever had with a different menu every day. If we ever come back to St. Augustine, there is no question that we would stay here again!

While the outside presentation is not up to higher class hotels, the newly remodeled rooms with wooden floor, new paint, new shower are pleasing. Most importantly front desk personnel, the cleaning staff were just exceptional. We visit St. Augustine three times a year and will absolutely stay there again. Keep up those smiling faces. Solid four stars!

Stayed here a few months back. Was surprised at how welcoming the staff was and how friendly they were! Our room was cozy except for the crack at the bottom of our door which let it some heat and noise. Not too big of a problem but I think it would have made the stay even nicer. The breakfast in the morning was worth the early wakeup! LOVED the hot breakfast! Didn't go in the pool but definitely will on our next stay!

The front desk waa super nice, and gave lots of great reccomendations for fun things to do. The room waa extremely clean, and appealing to the eye. I would definitely stay here again!

It's so nice having a place we can go with our puppy! The dog area is great my only gripe is they seem to have the sprinklers on several times during the day so there were a number of times we couldn't utilize it and had to find other grassy areas. The breakfast is simple but good. It would be great if there was an outside area we could have breakfast at that our dog could come to.

The hospitality was great. The staff are fantastic, friendly, and caring. They have a great pool, great breakfast every morning and the rooms were great. We have stayed there twice now and we will definitely be back again because each time has been amazing.

The hotel is nice for the price. Rooms were adequate, the ac worked which in the Florida heat is very important. The rooms were more updated than anticipated and looked clean at first glance but after being there for awhile I began to see dirt build up in corners and after spilling something saw how much dirt was on the floor during clean up. Breakfast was nice. All in all I would probably stay here again mainly due to pricing.

Southern Oaks Inn is a neat, pet-friendly hotel close to the action of downtown St. Augustine (about a six minute drive). Pros: Hospitality was fantastic and accommodating. The room had nice dark wood floors and cool furniture. Your stay comes with complementary breakfast. There is a decent size swimming pool. Cons: The breakfast was subpar (but it was free). The room had a hint of pet smell, but we got over it after a few minutes of running the fan. The bathroom was tiny and the towels were coarse.

This is the third time I have stayed here. Rooms are always clean and tidy. They are dog friendly and have a dog park next to it! Every time I have stayed, I have requested a late checkout and they have always granted it with no questions! Staff is really friendly and always asking how your doing or if you need anything. Pool is nice and closed in by a white picket fence with flowers. Super cute! Also, they serve breakfast till 11am! How awesome is that?! And their breakfast is really good! I have no complaints. Anytime I come down to St. Augustine, my dogs and I are staying here! We love it.

A great little motel. Every thing was clean and comfy. All the workers were courteous and helpful and went out of their way for us. Very conveniently located. Right next to a museum and an easy walk to downtown (about 1-1/2 miles). Very close to the "fountain of Youth. " I gave this motel 5 stars in its class. Of course, I'm not comparing to the Ritz, but it was a very nice motel. I'll gladly stay here again (stayed two nights).

Great value for money, you can't find a better hotel for less than $100/night. The room has wood floor, microwave, fridge, and great 40' TV. Service is second to none: we needed a wine opener and the girl at the reception ran over the street to buy one — now that's customer service you will find rarely. Breakfast was basic but fresh, healthy and nice. Highly recommended hotel and we are already planning our next holiday in St. Augustine knowing we are going to return to this hotel.

Great staff from the front desk to housekeeping, very friendly. Rooms are small and have strange quirks like soap/shampoo/conditioner dispensers on the wall instead of bottles. The shower could have been cleaned better. The AC did not work right but if turned to on instead of auto it did the job. Updated interior furnishings and the friendly staff bumped this to a 4 from a 3, good value overall.

The staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially with pets. Next time I bring my dog with me to St. Augustine I will definitely be staying here! This is a great hotel, and one of the cheapest in the city! If you travel with pets, this is definitely the place to go.

We just got off our Bahamas cruise at Cape Canaveral and headed North up the East coast of Florida. We decided to stop for the night in St. Augustine. We stopped in to ask rates (4 people) and was pleasantly surprised by the cost. The room was great with hardwood floors, and there really were two queen sized beds. Breakfast was an added bonus. 5 stars, no doubt.
