Unfortunately, we did not have the same experience as everyone else. We received a call the morning of our stay asking when we planned to check in. We were advised they would not be there upon our arrival due to it being Father’s Day. We were told where the keys would be. The room was as described. No complaints there. The “bottle” of sherry listed as a perk was actually in a decanter with barely a corner in it and full of sediment. Needless to say we didn’t drink any as we weren’t sure if it was freshly poured or from
the previous guests. The water in the shower was warm but never got very hot (the only way I like my water) and the water pressure was just so-so. The next morning we got downstairs and a man spoke and said “good morning”. Unfortunately, we didn’t double check the time for breakfast so we had missed it apparently by 10am. Never once did anyone introduce themselves or ask how our stay was. The man asked if we wanted a coffee or juice… (no thanks, I paid for breakfast) We have done many bed and breakfasts and this was our only negative experience in 8 years. I.

This was our first visit to the B&B and we could not be happier. We received a friendly and warm reception along with a very detailed explanation of what to see and eat and do while staying in Saint Augustine. The rooms are very clean and spacious. Happy hour had wine, cheeses, biscuits, cookies and tea at 4 pm. The breakfast was incredible and not your typical cereal and juice that hotel chains mainly provide. We had a delicious Swiss cheese and ham croissant with scrambled eggs and fresh diced fruit with fresh coffee and orange juice. The historic portion of St Augustine is so close and numerous places to see like museums and eateries within a five minute walk. The winery and distillery are also within a five minute walk from the Penny Farthing (I recommend going for the free tours and tastings). All in all, it has been a pleasurable stay and look forward to our next visit.

Absolutely wonderful! We loved the Attic and the York with the quaint furnishings. The breakfasts were fantastic! Kaeli was a delight! We will definitely be back.

My husband and I stayed here this passed weekend for our anniversary. Very quiet. Sitting on the porch just listening to the chimes from the Governor's House was so nice and relaxing.

It’s our first time in beautiful historic Saint Augustine. This 1890 Victorian home is a perfect charming charming charming welcome!

What a great find in Saint Augustine! My son & I truly loved this Inn. It was the first stop on our “haunted inn” adventures:) While we didn’t see any ghosts;) We did thoroughly enjoy our stay in the Katherine Room!
You can tell the man who owns this Inn, and runs it exclusively on his own, has really put his heart and soul into his work. My son really loved our eggs Benedict breakfast made by him. He was very hospitable, and accommodated our later check-in. I had forgotten my glasses there, and a few days later, he was very kind about me stopping by to get them at 8pm, when the front desk had already closed.

I stayed at the Penny Farthing Inn a few years ago and it was absolutely wonderful. The owners son was a wonderful host and accommodated my late check in on a stormy night. The wine and snacks in the foyer were a welcome treat after driving all day. The location was perfect for walking to town and the breakfast served was one of the best I've had! Dining on the beautiful wrap around porch was delightful. Enjoyed hearing about the history of the inn and the ghost stories. Looking forward to my next stay!

Booking and check in were simple. Lovely rooms and breakfast. Plenty of guest parking. Location perfect. The hallway outside my room has a hole in the roof for an old red cedar.

This place is amazing, we stayed in the Windsor room and the bed is comfy, the room a nice size, everything clean, food is amazing, the staff is great! We will definitely be back.

Nice B&B max. For 2 nights very light of hearing but cuddly very central better does not work and with love attached breakfast. Not very rich but very good quality.

We Had a wonderful weekend stay. We got to stay in Catherines Bed Chamber the first night which had a lovely porch swing and view, large tub and comfortable king bed. We also loved the Cambridge room, which was a little roomier with a foyer area. Very hospitable with a delicious breakfast both days. It is in a convenient location behind the Lightner Museum and is easy to walk everywhere.

Rich is a great host. The breakfasts were delicious. The room was great. Great location. Will definitely come back.

We recently stayed at Pennyfarthing Inn in the Catherine room. Very beautiful and welcoming Victorian b&b. It is well within walking distance to just about everything. The atmosphere is quiet and inviting. We had awesome weather and a wonderful stay. Certainly enjoyed the porch swing and rocker on the private balcony. We will be back.

Enjoying the penny farthing inn. Very much a British feel to it. Come to have a relaxing weekend and get away from the kids. The rooms are well decorated and well done. The place is immaculate. The staff /owners are amazingly helpful and great to talk to. Great visit.

We enjoyed a couple of nights, celebrating our anniversary and the Lights. Richard was the perfect host, the room was great and the ambiance was Victorian Christmas. We could walk everywhere but we were far enough from the traffic and noise to allow us to enjoy our private deck, rocking chairs and hammock. Recommend highly!

The people here we're very friendly and accommodating. Rooms were comfortable and old fashioned. Enjoyed a nice room with a gas fire place, which was much needed in the 32 degree December weather. Breakfast was always new and great. They have wine and cheese in the evenings. Would go back again.

I was so excited to book a room here, I came for an early birthday trip. I stayed in penny's attack, it was so romantic and had all the things you need to relax. The owners are very friendly and such a joy to meet after a long trip and you just want to rest. I will always remember this place not only cause of the great experience, but I got engaged in St. Augustine while staying here. So it looks like Penny farthing will be our anniversary spot each year. Look for my love note with our story in the attack. Thank you for making a memory for us.

We were visiting Flagler College campus and dorm locations. We walked by the Inn and had the great thought we needed a treat away after we move our son into his dorm. We were greeted by a very nice lady who is expecting to give birth to her baby any day now. She could not have been more kind. We booked a nice room and loo forward to our get away.

It was so cozy here, I was sad to leave. They make you a wonderful breakfast that we loved. It feels like home, unfortunately, kids under 13 are not allowed, but I still hive this place 5 stars.

The location was easy to find, parking is free, and the owners are lovely! They offer clean rooms, and fresh, hot breakfast. The home is close to everything, you could easily walk from The Penny Farthing to The Fort in less than twenty minutes. An overall excellent experience!

Staff super friendly, extremely helpful and accommodating. Great selection of rooms of all kind. Blocks away from downtown shops and restaurants. Great breakfast. Comfortable rooms and mine offered a bit of complementary sherry :)

This place is a wonderful place to stay. It is convenient to downtown and has onsite parking which is nice. The owners are incredibly kind and welcoming. Breakfast is great — a little later in the morning if you have things to get up and get going to, but I didn't ask if there was any way to have food earlier. We stayed in the Cambridge which was nice, but somewhat noisy due to its proximity to everything. Overall a great value and a great place to lodge.

My husband and I spent 1 night at Penny Farthing and loved most everything about it with the exception of the very soft mattress on the bed in the Cambridge room, we also wished that the room had individual tempurature as our room was very warm. We did use ceiling fan but noticed that all of the vents were completly closed. The breakfast was amazing, they were serving banana french toast and the coffee was amazing (this says alot as I am not a real coffee drinker and usually on have 1 cup of flavored coffee… I had 4 cups of their coffee, wish I would have asked what they used). The staff was wonderful and the atmosphere perfect. We loved the covered deck outside our room, it was the perfect place to enjoy a late night dessert and an early morning cup of coffee. We look forward to visiting again.

Where do I start? The Penny Farthing Inn is a 130 year-old Bed and Breakfast situated on a quiet, tree lined street located in St. Augustine's Historical District. Our car was parked for four days since we could walk to everything (farthest journey was 15 minutes). Our room, as well as the entire Inn, was tastefully decorated in period furniture, paintings and assorted curios. The attention to detail was amazing. The entire staff was friendly, accommodating and always made us feel at home. The breakfasts were superb, and were individually served in a small, exquisite dining room complete with china, linen napkins and lace table coverings. Over the course of our three day stay we were presented with quiche, eggs Benedict, and banana pancakes/bacon. All came with fruit, coffee and juice. There were substitutes for those with dietary restrictions or preferences. Then there were the 4 — 6 pm "tea and crumpets" (as I liked to call them) each day. Freshly baked each morning, our three days covered scones, banana bread, lemon squares, and cookies, as well as cheese and crackers or chips and salsa. Of course there was the obligatory tea, not to mention red and white wine for the more hardy. We always made it back from our sightseeing to partake before resting up and heading back out. Our stay in St. Augustine was fabulous, due in large part to the owners and staff of the Penny Farthing.

My husband and I and 2 of of best friends stayed here for two nights (first time for all of us staying at a B&B) The rooms definitely needed a huge cleaning, the beds were horrible (we actually dreaded the 2nd night come bedtime, there was a very strong scent that is stuck in our clothing and we didnt know that everyone is expected to stay at a whisper) ; … the inn keepers were nice, but definitely will not be staying at a b&b again … way too quiet of an atmosphere for us and without any real conveniences beside the location.

This place was extemely dirty. The widow sills where full of pollen and dust. There was gum stuck on the floor and wrapper behind the head bed board. The frig was dirty. Everything I touched was grimy not sure when the last time it had a good cleaning. Also the owners weren't very friendly or assessable. I would never stay here again.

If you're looking for sleek and modern, then this is not the place for you. It reminded us of a slightly less than overstuffed Victorian parlour, warm, cosy and comfortable. Our hosts were welcoming, helpful and friendly. All the extras were included. There were robes and even a decanter of sherry in the room. Afternoon refreshments were laid on, with home bakes and nibbles (lovely crab pate). Even wine was included. Then, of course, there’s the breakfast. Not your usual fry-up, but something rather more special. Thoroughly recommended.

We spent our wedding night at the Penny Farthing Inn and couldn't have chosen better! We called ahead to get an early check in. When we arrived our room, the Victorian Bed chamber, wasn't quite ready yet as it was experiencing a plumbing issue. Since I had to do my hair and makeup for our ceremony two hours later they offered to allow us to use the room next door until it was ready! They fixed the issue quickly, in about 30 minutes, and then we moved over to our room. The couple that owns the Inn are an amazingly sweet, nice and accommodating English couple. The wife even helped me do my hair for our wedding, zipped up my dress for me and offered to drive me to our ceremony location! Our room was beautiful and immaculately clean. Some bottles of water and a bottle of sherry was included in the room. They had a very decent selection of movies and board games to entertain yourself with during the evening hours. The breakfast we had in the morning, banana pancakes, bacon, grapes and melon, was one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. We chose this Inn from the reviews online and due to the price (it was less expensive than all of the other options) and we couldn't be happier. This is a place we will return to for anniversaries or other special occasions when we are in St. Augustine. I would recommend them to anyone wanting the best time they could ask for when staying in the area!

I appreciate the old charm of the house, but the bed was incredibly uncomfortable. It is just the topper placed on a sheet of plywood so that a too-large mattress could be used on a small bed frame. We stayed in the Elizabeth room on the second floor, and our headboard is against the windows on the balcony of an adjoining room — very noisy. The bathroom needed to be seriously deep-cleaned. The breakfast was nice, and the owners were pleasant, but I would not stay here again.

Our group of 5 couples loved it ALL! Our host owners (British) provided unique, delicious breakfasts, Happy Hours and beautiful Victorian accommodations. The various delightful gathering areas gave us a chance to meet other happy guests also. We very highly recommend the Penny Farthing Inn.

Very, very nice Bed and Breakfast. The whole house is up in the last corner is very british in design. Parking spaces were plentiful and the evening is the house with classic light bulbs lit. The room was excellent and we enjoyed on the beautiful balcony is included Brandy. The Breakfast was with a lot of love prepared and tasted excellent.

Recently stayed at the Penny Farthing for our anniversary. He reserved Penny's Attic based on the reviews we saw on line. Both my wife and I found it to be a much less that satisfactory experience. The exterior of the building is in serious need of maintenance with peeling paint, repairs needed to the railings, weeds growing out of the collection of pots around the building and the gravel drive, rotted pieces of wood trim on many portions of the flat roof, etc. There didn't seem to be much cleanup done to it. The B&Bs on either side are nicely maintained and seem to put this building to shame. After looking at pictures of their room interiors on line it appears that they have been updated. We wish we had stayed at one of those. The interior of the lobby had Victorian furniture but it appeared to be in need of refreshing. The kitchen and dining room were also very dated and the dining area had unfinished wood trim around the chimney and a large gap at the top. It appeared to have been done very amateurishly. The napkins were thin and old and the furniture mismatched and so packed in that it was uncomfortable. The room we stayed in was furnished with what appeared to be garage sale finds and was very mismatched. The bedding appeared old and worn. The sink was so shallow that it was difficult to use and was very difficult to keep clean. The shower/toilet area had a ceiling so slanted that I was unable to stand to shower and use the toilet.

My wife and I live in Jacksonville and celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary in Penny's Attic at Penny Farthing Inn. We had a most pleasant experience, never did find the "note" though. We could feel a loving spirit in the room, and had a wonderful time. We plan on going back soon.

Stayed at the Penny Farthing for two nights, stayed in the "Treehouse". Fantastic room, even better hosts. Sherry was provided in our room along with multiple wines, the breakfast was cooked to order and equally fantastic. For what its worth, we intend on visiting yearly from here on. BTW, its also said that a young girl haunts the home, fortunately shes a friendly ghost and she prefers blonds to hang-out with. (apparently her mom was blond, or so the story goes ;-).

My boyfriend and I just stayed for two nights at the Penny Farthing Inn and it was WONDERFUL! The Inn is beautiful and well kept, the food is amazing and the Inn Keeper and staff were sweet, accomodating and overall extremely nice. They offered complimentary wine, cookies, water, tea, juice and other snacks during the day as well. We stayed in the room called "The Dawn", which was comfortable and super cute. They also had a great DVD library which made evenings in the room fantastic. I will recommend this place to everyone looking for a quiet spot to take a mini vacation.

We have stayed right in the heart of St. Augustine on previous visits, but we have absolutely fallen in love with the Penny Farthing following our stay there this February. It has private parking (never drove the car, the whole time we were there). It is located around the corner from the museum, but within easy walking distance of everything and is blissfully quiet. Our second floor room featured a private porch, complete with a swing — great place to relax and enjoy the wine, tea and coffee (plus goodies) offered throughout the day. The breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented and the staff was warm, friendly and attentive. Penny Farthing has become part of our tradition when visiting St. Augustine.
