This place is old, worn, in bad need of constant maintenance, and not worthy of a Hilton property! While we were there, the elevator repair guy was there and the staff seemed to know him well, and heard him say "I think I fixed it this time". I think they are intimate with repair and service folks — as this place is rough! 1st room we had was dirty and worn looking but we went with it after a tiring day of travel. Stinker was at shower time where the water would NOT drain and thus you stood in dirty soapy bath water up to your ankles. Disgusting and a health hazard. Also the water is “soft” water versus hard water which means the soap won’t rinse from your body, and you get that slimy, soapy skin feeling. Even turning the water off and waiting for it to drain took more then 5 minutes. How could they NOT now about this issue when house-keeping cleans the shower (you would assume) on a daily basis? Is it that house-keeping just doesn't care enough to advise maintenance of the issue? Sad! Asked for room change and next room smelled like a chemical, ammonia, or similar and made my eyes burn. This was within minutes of being in the room. Saw an employee walking the halls and asked him to check it out with me and he detected the burning eye smell also. Reported the issue of both rooms to GM (Joey) who I saw standing around (he is the Joey responding to these reviews) who was clueless to the fact that we reported the ankle deep shower water issue the night before. He claimed he had not been told that we complained. So he has incompetent staff that fails to report issues to the General manager, or he is a liar. I found out later that he is a liar. (Read on …) I asked him to come into the 2nd room offering — the ammonia smelling room with me and he said, “I can’t smell it, but I have a cold so …”. At that point I asked him about refunding me one night of points due to the 1st room (we booked 4 nights as Hilton Diamond members, using points) and he stated “I already refunded you the points”. What? He earlier stated that he had no idea we had an issue with the ankle deep water room. How would he know to refund us the points? Ah ha! He is a liar! And a bad one! All and all – this place stinks! And is a health hazard with dysfunctional rooms and absent non-caring staff and management. NEVER again! In fact — we moved to the far cleaner, more functional, Magic Beach motel directly across the street! A great alternative. Too bad that we had to pay cash for that place versus being able to depend on Hampton for a clean, functional room.
