FILTHY ROOM! Urine, Vomit, Mold, Bug Infestation!   I checked into this hotel while moving out of my apartment so for the first few nights of my stay I didn’t spend any time in the hotel room. Upon checking in I did notice that it smelled funny inside the room but I didn’t think much of it as I had more pressing priorities to take care of. After finishing packing out the rest of my apartment we moved fully into this hotel. It was one of their suites which was basically two hotel rooms converted into one. My wife complained about the smell and general cleanliness but I told her we should just deal with it for the next few weeks until our house would be ready to move in. My wife spoke with one of the cleaning staff and they told her that the people who previously had rented the room did not allow cleaning services to come in for long periods of time (I think they were in the room for a few weeks because of Irma). When they did get access to the room to clean they found lots of food left out and trash strewn about. They also said that someone urinated on the floor and on the couch. The cleaning staff took the pillow cushions for the couch. The next day I was attempting to work on my computer and found ants running all over the desk and around one of the air conditioners. After looking around more closely I discovered that the room was completely infested. I notified one of the staff about the infestation and they said they couldn’t do anything until the next day. The next day comes around and maintenance shows up to replace the couch that had been urinated on. The couch that they brought as a replacement looked just as old and worn out as the previous one. Upon further inspection I found the mattress to be completely filthy with some kind of vomit/blood/urine stain. Maintenance removed that mattress and replaced with another one which was still filthy (see in pictures) and the frame for the mattress was rusted out and dirty. I then spent about three hours on the phone with Choice Hotels corporate to try and get this situation straightened out. They washed their hands of all responsibility and told me the hotels are independently owned/operated. I went to the front desk to try to figure out what to do next and was met by the manager. The manager listened to what I had to say and was immediately defensive and giving me attitude, while I was describing this the owner overheard my conversation and came over to jump on the “blame the customer” bandwagon. They followed me back to my room where I showed them the filth and the bug infestations and then tried to convince me that this wasn’t a bad thing. I asked them to refund my stay there and they balked and told me they only wouldn’t charge me for that current day (it was around 2pm at the time). I asked the owner one final time to refund my stay to which he said no. I told him I would write a review and he told me “That’s what they all do when they don’t get what they want. ” I wanted to stay in a hotel that didn’t have urine, mold, vomit and bug infestations… I guess I’m just asking for too much here. I have attached photos of a couple things: The nasty mattress, the bugs running around various objects, a moldy French fry inside an air conditioner and some pictures of worn out furniture.
