If you're looking for a 5 star resort with amenities, this hotel is NOT for you, if you're looking for a humble Florida-style hotel that was probably the cream of the crop in it's day, somewhere to rest your head, and a 200 ft walk to the ocean from your room — then this IS the hotel for you. I read a lot of the reviews from other people prior to my visit and almost cancelled, but I said, screw it, we're going to the beach and out to dinner, this is somewhere to sleep. The other guests staying here are friendly, probably not the people giving 1 and 2 star reviews. Front desk was friendly and let us check in 45 minutes early. There is tons of kids aged 1-12+ here, pool toys, lounge chairs for guests to use on the beach, beach towels, and cabana shades. There's a Weber grill by the pool so you can cook your own food. The kitchen has a full sized fridge and a mini gas oven/stove. There are ceramic plates, glasses, silverware, utensils, microwave and coffee pot. Yeah, the cabinets are probably from the 70s and there's plastic ceiling tiles covering fluorescent lights in the kitchen, but it's fully functional so who are we to judge. The lounge area has a full sized pullout sofa, also dated, a naturally shabby chic coffee table, a dining table, desk, bar stools, and a club style chair. Some of the electric is old-school Florida wonky, down means on, you have to flick a switch to get the outlet to work, etc etc… but we're not here to judge the electric and it works. The AC also works great! Some of the windows don't lock, there was sugar ants on the sill working hard for their days keep… the carpet is sub par, there's linoleum floor in the bathroom that is patched and doesn't even come close to matching the tile… the shower has a pull down shower head which is perfect for hosing off little feet after the beach. Where there's laminate it's peeling, there's water stains from years of random water intrusion, the exterior could use a face lift, but you know what, we gave it 5 stars because you're not going to find this view for less in south Florida. The accommodations are perfect if you're not expecting the Ritz or Trump Tower. There's a Trader Joe's and Whole Foods right up the road, a mile and a half away there's a strip of restaurants and shops. You're blessed if you're able to stay here and meet some folks. If old-style Florida offends you, and you expect perfection, do not stay here. It's nice for what it is — I would recommend this place to groups or anyone who loves the beach. Hope this helped!
