The room was nice. The staff was friendly and accommodating. There was no kind of issue when I had to cancel the last night of my reservation. The only issue I had was the housekeeper knocking on and then unlocking my door 30-45 minutes before checkout when I had the “do not disturb” sign on the outside. But outside of that everything was fantastic.
We recently stayed in the Holiday Inn in Ft. Myers downtown area. We walked in and the hotel had a distinct smell that we later recognized to be of Cigarettes. Upon check in we didn't really inspect our room. We dropped our stuff off and went for food. This was a big mistake. When we got back to the hotel, it was late and we were tired. To our horror the room was absolutely disgusting and it was too late to make other accomodations, not to mention the fact that we paid over $300 for the room and didn't want to shell out more for somewhere different. The shower had black mold growing out of the shower head. There were pubic hairs on the floor by the toilet. The curtains were stained and there were transients frequently walking through the parking lot and hanging out behind the building. We didn't feel safe and were constantly checking on our car. We had friends who we encouraged to stay at the same hotel and they all reported similar things. Including the fact that the gyms was dirty and the breakfast didn't open when advertised. Other friends stayed at the Hilton down the street for half the price. I'm very disappointed with our stay and the amount we had to pay for the cleanliness and comfort we would have expected of a truck stop motel. My family and I will think twice before ever staying here again.
