Very nice staff, but hotel is very dirty. Very. It got only hotel cost, but it’s a low level motel. Dirty stained carpet, moist smell. Needs painting. Feces floating in toilet. Thin walls don’t help protecting u, from wild parties next door at 3 am. When you call security-they blame you for the noise. We were in shock as we walked in. They wouldn’t return our $ since their policy stating “24hr prior cancellation notice”, but since it looks really nice on pictures-you don’t know what you are walking in to unless you see it with your own eyes. I suspect they delete all their negative reviews.

Steals money from their customers! Never bring your boat here.

Great marina staff! Didn’t stay at hotel since they supposedly didn’t have rooms.
But they were available on line? Expedia type sites…and had difficulty getting someone on the phone who could help, but the girls and guys at the marina were awesome! So we stayed at the Hampton down the street and left the boat there at sands. I could not believe they sold live bait at the marina. Not shrimp and BS but pilchards and gogs…so cool and easy! Saved me a bunch of time!

I’ve been in Pompano for 7 years and have LOVED this place. Never come down here without stopping at Sands. Since the new boutique Manhattan ownership family took over and went corporate it’s gone down hill. Service hasn’t been overseen well by management (slow/inattentive), food quality went south while kitchen times went up and the prices SKYROCKETED. At least they got rid of the $20 docking fee — the only business anywhere near them that attempted nickel and diming the boaters but the backlash ended that policy quick. If I were feeling good and drunk I’d give this place a 2 but 3 years ago when it was a small business it was an 8.5/10.

Great food service and atmosphere AND no spring breakers!

The new owners have done a great job bringing new life to the outside. It's really pretty, I have to say. With that being said, as a local, it's really hard paying $8 for a beer and $11 for 4 cheese sticks. We went the other night and had 2 beers, 1 Rum Runner with a floater and an order of cheese sticks — our bill was $45 (before tip). For those prices (actually cheaper! ) we can go to one of the nicer places along the beach and have much better food and a better view. They were packed the night we went — so I guess there are a lot of people not minding the crazy prices but for this local and her family… we won't be back.

Food was awesome, atmosphere was great as well. Adult beverages not so much. Tasty but very weak on the alcohol.

With the new management the food is amazing, the people are so nice and they really turned this place around. Best fish tacos around, Maui Maui was hands down amazing.

Let me start off and say that the actual hotel staff are fantastic and polite. Now the new and improved bar and grill that opened today we’ll AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE. The service was horrible and I just ordered an simple shrimp cocktail, guess what 20 minutes later you know it was going to be bad when the third waiter to serve us states “your not going to like this”. It wouldn’t have been bad if waiter number one took the order in a timely fashion, but he forgot about us and another waiter was thrown into service. The old bar and grill was better.

Awesome, casual place on intracoastal for cocktails and some great food… Joel is a very personable, fun and attentive bartender. A must stop when in the Ft Lauderdale, Pompano area!

We love coming to Sands Harbor. It’s a very relaxing atmosphere with good food and great service. Sarah is a fantastic server. It’s our new “go to” on Sunday’s.

Amazing price for rooms. Alcohol is a little pricey. Great view and vibe. Love the tiki bar, the band and the pool! Only suggestion would be to have a little friendlier barstaff. I personally like fun barstaff that is attentive and likes to joke around.

Billy at the Patio Bar is excellent! Always good to see him. Food is excellent also!

This place has horrid service. I understand that there is a fishing tournament and that they are slammed but basic customer service is expected. The outside bar staff was rude and the bar manager did not help. Rolling your eyes and asking for an explanation about how to make a shot is not going “above and beyond”. Please do not waste your money here!

Great place for after the beach! They mostly have local clientele and very laid back and friendly. We come to the sands every time we hit the beach at sit at the bar, exclusively on Becca’s side. She’s awesome! Very friendly, attentive and easy to talk to. She’s a hustler and knows how to handle the bar and seems to take the load of the other (very slow bartenders who won’t even give you a second look) so she’s all over the place when it’s busy. Great live bands and food! Just PLEASE MIX UP the music on the radio! It’s the sammmee 10 jimmy buffet songs over and over and over again. Also, please put the fans back up at the bar that used to be there. It’s summer in Florida and with temps already at 90+ it’s miserable, I feel bad for the staff. Defiantly recommend this place (make sure you sit on Becca’s side of the bar for wonderful service) and you won’t be disappointed! Oh and get a rum runner with a Myers float!

Ideally placed for walking down the steps to the dive boats in the morning. The older staff members were exemplary individuals who were friendly and helpful at all times. The younger staff members did not know the area nor were they willing to assist out of state clients. They simply answered questions with "I don't know. " No efforts were made to help.

Omg love this place. Ask for Emily at the pool best server. Cute as a button. Great food. Great view. Remember ask for EMILY.

My large crew and I have been coming here 2-3 times a week for 10+ years and have always loved it.
But recently there have been several issues with the service including double charging and the process/lack of resolutions. I hope it's isolated and you guys fix it as this is one of our favorite places. Competition is being built as I type so keep your locals loyal!

Well. I’m changing the review from a 1 to a 3. Sands did step up and get involved to follow up on the fraudulent charge as they conceded in a post below and verified by my friends bank. Furthermore I was only able to gain attention here due to being unable to call in on a daily basis. The charges were reversed on my friends card and he reimbursed me. Additionally, I wasn’t disclosed of the 20% auto gratuity which I just found out about. Additionally if I had been able to get a hold of someone earlier all this would’ve been prevented. Will I go back… yes. Will I trust the billing system… tbd. Thank you again sands for following up.

It was great to be home in Pompano! The Sands is my favorite hotel in Pompano Beach. Close to all our hangouts, and the hotel staff is very awesome. The Patio Bar has great food and drink items. The new Craft Beer selection is awesome. Can't wait to come back sooner than later.

Love it here! Go in with the right expectation, you will have a great time. Pool party, live music, generous drinks, super friendly staff. This isn't the Ritz, but it's a lot more fun. Dock to pull your boat up, and you can park across the street in the city lot. The food is very moderately priced bar food. Bring the kids!

Great marina to stay. Good location. Parking lot limited. Unless you pay at meter on parking lot on the side. Easy access from atlantic blvd. Marina provide all services also have gas station and bait shop. Space is limited to dock a boat marina use to be busy.

Had a great time. They have a pool by the restaurant. Where the kids play it's heated. The food at the restaurant was incredible. Definitely going back again.

The customer service was awful. Not a great place for kids since the crowd was mostly older people. There are 3 restaurants on site. 2 of which were white cloth and the outside bar on the deck was open to the public. It was a very popular place for older people. The wait at each restaurant was 45 minutes. I ate at the outdoor bar 3 times and service was awful each time. The front desk girl did not seem like she cared or wanted to help. I will not return to this resort.

We only stopped by to eat while we were spending the day cruising the intercoastal. The food was great! We only saw the dock and outdoor seating, but what little we saw, we liked, except for the jerk customer who raced around our boat, in a no wake zone, so he could get the only remaining docking space. Another one, and better, opened up a minute later. Even after offering a significant tip to his waiter, I couldn't convince him to spit in his food for me. LOL! Just kidding, but I did think about it. He was staggering drunk before he got there so it wasn't the fault of the Sands Resort.

This is a fun little place right on the inter-coastal waterway in Pompano. Its been here for many decades. The outside pool and patio tiki bar create a nice atmosphere to have a drink and watch the boats go by. Dockage for boaters is usually available. Basic food and drinks, great atmosphere.

Pretty nice place. Not the newest but not the oldest. Located close to food places, including on-site restaurants. Staff are very friendly. Close to the beach (within walking distance). It's off the main drag, so there's not too much vehicle traffic. Dive shop and charters are located all around and easily walkable. A couple negative items: — Rooms by the pool can be pretty loud with the music playing all day. — Hard to get the door locks to latch. The locking mechanisms don't line up with the frame and therefore the doors sometimes won't latch shut. — Parking is a total nightmare. There are lots on either side of the hotel, but they are full all day long. You have to sit in your car and wait for someone to leave then swipe that spot from them. There's a huge lot across the street, but that's city parking and it's $1.50 per hour, round the clock. — The plugs in the room are really old. The internal blades are all worn out, so I couldn't get anything to stay plugged in. Everything I plugged in just fell right out onto the floor.

We are Snowbirds & we love going to The Sands to relax, enjoy good food, listen to the music & enjoy the boats on the intracoastal when we are here in Pompano Beach!

The people are very nice. I asked for hot water because there was none & she got a new thing for me. & it’s right by the beach, walking distance! & the rooms were nice. I had a great time. I would definitely go back.

Love the sands harbor beach resort. We've been going there 30 years. No better place to eat and drink on the water, and watch the boats go by on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon. Foods great, and prices reasonable.

I'd prefer 3.5 stars. Kind staff and very helpful. Room service came in less than 10 min. Rooms without kitchen are much smaller than those with kitchens. Room balconies are nice but view town not sea. Elevators were quite slow and ended up using stairs most of the time. Overall a nice stay and good service.

Notice that only deals with the outdoor bar which is in free access, no need to be a guest at the hotel. You can also enter directly through the parking which is to the right of the hotel without going through the reception. We love this place directly on the Intracoastal, relaxed atmosphere or boaters park their boats along this bar snacks for a drink in music. Fun to see what goes and comes from regular boaters. The swimming pool is also open access, the adults drink a drink and the children take advantage of the swimming pool.
Guaranteed show and superb sunset.
We will come back to taste the seafood and fish. Local beer.

Come by boat. Always accomodating boats and people. Conch Fritters are great abd the peel and eat shrimp are large and fresh!

Not as clean as I prefer. Smells musty. Gross comforter. Chairs had Dustin on them. Small bathroom. Great location next to pompano dive center. Room service came in while we were asleep and was very loud as she said she was sorry and would come back later.

Very nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and food very good and very good portions. Live music. Can't wait to go back.

BEWARE! When you book your room on Sands own website, it says "cancellation allowed 3 days prior to arrival date without a charge". After many tries & w 3 items of documented proof, they're NOT HONORING THEIR OWN REFUND POLICY! Once you purchase the room, they email a confirmation saying "Policies: 3 Night Room & Tax will be charged at time reservation is made. Cancellation is allowed 3 days prior to arrival date without a charge. 1 night room and tax for all late cancellations". My wife just lost her job so we can't go visit the kid's grandparents in Pompano after all. So, I call to cancel 5 DAYS IN ADVANCE. The 1st person heard that I was cancelling & said she'd call me back, she didn't. So, I emailed 3x so far… nothing. So, I called back again & the front desk looked up my account & told me that I bought the rooms on Expedia (nope) & therefore denied my cancellation telling me I needed to do it within 10 days (an expedia thing? ). I explained how I bought the rooms ON THEIR WEBSITE (have credit card, emailed confirmation from them & a screenshot of the purchase to prove it) & read him his own website's 3 day cancellation policy, as well as the 3 day policy that they emailed me upon booking. However, he insisted that it didn't matter, HE WASN'T GOING TO HONOR THEIR POLICY &, if I wanted to, that I could take it up with LORNA GREEN in the morning. So, I called Lorna this afternoon… didn't take my call!

I will jump straight to it, this is an old hotel. I have stayed here on multiple occasions as I travel to FL for work. Now with that being said I really enjoy staying here. The rooms are clean, staff is pleasant and they have a great restaurant and bar on the property both over look the intercoastal. Being an older hotel the rooms are not completely up to date but they are fine to sleep in and every room has a balcony so no need to hang out there anyway. Breakfast is minimal consisting of muffins, coffee, oatmeal, fruit and juice. But quite frankly… this is a hotel not a cracker barrel. Go out for breakfast of you really need it, for lunch and dinner even the locals flock here to eat. They have live music Friday and Saturday, either go down to the pool or hang out on your balcony (every room has one) and enjoy. Publix and several restaurants are close by even in reasonable walking distance (go to Christian's for Greek food). Bottom line give the Sands a try, it may not be the Ritz but I have always enjoyed my stay and it is my go to hotel when in the area (and available).

Laid back, nice views, great drinks very cool staff. We go, but not as often as we could. Can't listen to Jimmy buffet over and over forever. Unless they have live music it's margaritaville radio. I would stop for a drink a few nights a week if they would just change the damn station! They won't, I've asked. Other than that it's a super casual place to hang out. Boat and motorcycle parking, a rare combo.
