Staff was rude and the place is extremely run down. Husband and I decided to make the short drive from Denver to enjoy the hot springs. The main pool is dated but the jungle vide provided by the greenhouse and big plants made it kinda ok. The water was not as warm as we'd expected from other hot springs we've visited. The pump that put hot water into the pool kept turning off and on. But it was ok & relaxing. The problem came when we got talked into adding a private bath to our visit. Apparently that's the only way to enjoy actual hot water with your spouse. After standing at the chilly front desk for several minutes to check in for our private bath we were eventually greeted with "whats up guys? ". A long walk took us to a lower floor. The room where the private bath was resembled a custodial closet with all the ambiance of a truck stop bathroom. All the pvc plumbing was exposed, the paint was splotchy & dirty, the lighting was industrial, just a bulb with a metal cage around it. And some bizarre painting on the walls. But the water seemed nice so we tried to make the best of it. Odd sounds coming from the plumbing made our experience even more uncomfortable. After several mintues we realized neither of us was able to relax. Really wish they'd put a little thought into the experience of this place. When we gave up and returned the key to the desk, I explained the experience just wasn't what we were expecting — the only response from the person at the desk was "well how long were you in there? " I said Im not sure. She then told me that we started at 2, so we were in there 20 minutes, so no refunds. Now… it took us 5 minutes to get the key. And another few to walk to the room, we tried to make the best of it, plus time to dry off and come back. Again, I said it really wasn't a good experience. But I wasn't about to keep arguing. So my advice is if you're desperate for a hot springs experience and have low expectations, do the pool only! Everything else is grose. Given how dirty the changing rooms were I can't even imagine staying in the actual rooms. Its worth the extra drive to go to Glennwood or Steamboat for a pleasant hot springs.
