We drove 10 hours from Kansas City to discover that the office closes at 7 and we can't even get into our room that we paid for through hotels. Com.

I had mice the first night. No one responded to the emergency phone so I spent from 9pm to 1am trapping mice. They did give me another room and a complimentary night. I was fairly happy until I decided to stay one more night as a storm was rolling in. Jose said no problem. I looked at my bank statement a couple hours later and the room was $50 MORE than I had paid the previous two nights. Jose response when confronted about the price gouging was "you didn't ask". Not acceptable Jose. Really, not acceptable. You always tell the customer the price.

Service, food, knowledge, professional and very friendly. Clean rooms.

Rooms are clean and have what you need. Great views and friendly workers. It was my first time here and I enjoyed my visit. Close to anything you need.

Came to Estes Park and decided to stay over. Found Discovery Lodge and am so happy that I did. It’s a lovely room and very clean, the gal that checked me in was so helpful and friendly. I just really love the atmosphere and it’s pet friendly which I love because I travel with my dog.

Great location. They cater to families. Picnic tables and comfy chairs for cocktail hour! A fire pit with supplied wood, lighter, etc.

Great location — on the bike path and it's only a short walk to downtown. Also, it's on a big piece of land with a pond and regular elk visits. Highly recommend!

I’ve stayed here twice now and love it! Comfy bed, great staff, great views, excellent hot tub and overall fantastic!

Cabin — like attached rooms in recently updated, contemporary Colorado mountain decor, spotlessly clean, beautiful bathroom, balcony with chairs. There is a lovely pond to hang out near, chairs, benches, picnic tables, gazebo. Property is very well kept while preserving the 50s cabin feel. Property is adjacent to a golf course where elk like to hang out. Highly recommend. AAA / aarp discount, quiet and peaceful, not expensive. Flat screen tv, fridge… But no blow dryer, which is my only disappointment. I didn't ask if the office had one. If staying on the river or at the Stanley is not in the budget, stay here every time.

Loved lounging by the pool! The television worked especially well on the second night. Absolutely no spaghetti anywhere to be seen, but the room was clean and we slept well. Had one weird dream about eating glass (unrelated. )

Discovery lodge was a such a sweet spot to stay. We were there for 2 days, so we could visit Rocky mountain National Park. The room we stayed in was & was such a nice room & clean, it also gave you that cabin feel. You can tell they take pride in their rooms :) we also were able to see an Elk on the ground, grazing… what an extra treat. Thanks again!

Discovery lodge is a good place to stay. They are located in a convenient location. One morning we had elk outside our room in the parking lot. I would recommend this place to other people.

It's not an awful motel, but it's trying to be something more than it is. It's an overpriced motel, not a lodge. The front door to the room wouldn't lock from the outside, the front clerk girl was very passive aggressive and not friendly. The rooms and area are basically just a sorta reskinned motel 6. I've got no issues with motel 6, because their prices reflect the quality. This place was simply way overpriced.

I just want to start of by thanking the young man at the front desk (wilfredo) he was so accommodating. We booked thru Priceline and got a room kinda in a corner with not a great veiw and wilfredo was able to upgrade us for a small price to a better room with a stunning view! Thank you so much I will definitely be bringing my out of town family here every chance I get!

Discovery Lodge is a great place to stay if traveling to RMNP through Estes Park. The price was good, the staff was friendly, and the room was comfortable. There are elk that hang out on the golf course nearby at dusk. They were really cool to see. A couple were even swimming in the Lodge's pond Downsides: it was chilly when we were there and the mosquitoes were already plentiful. Bug spray might be a good idea. The doors to the rooms are sliding glass doors. That wasn't terrible, but i'd never seen it before, and it made going outside while my companion was still sleeping impossible. Hot tip: everything in Estes Park closes pretty early. We got there at 730 and had to settle for subway. Plan accordingly.

I truly loved everything! The room was clean, the views were spectacular, the hot tub was perfect, staff was friendly and welcoming. We arrived late but they helped us check in even though they were closed. My overall service was top notch. Humighly recommend to a friend or anyone.

The hotel at first glance is nice enough though it has notable flaws. The rooms are spacious, well cleaned and with a beautiful window. Unfortunately this does not accompany a structure to the height. In fact the pool is in disuse, the Wi-Fi barely works. But even more negative is the noise: in fact we had the room on the ground floor and the wooden structure also makes the slightest noise of the room on the upper floor feel.

Great place with great views! Very happy with desk service & our stay here. The weather was beautiful! Not a real fancy place, very few amenities, but all that you need is here or close by. Wish we would have had more time to check out the hot tub! Trip here was worth the stay!

The general location is good, but many rooms are in disadvantage. Because of the golf course there is no direct pass to towards the lake, so you'd need to walk around towards visitors center. At out time the maintenance could be better. The lobby is nice and welcoming.

Good, decent place to stay! Rooms are very cozy and comfortable. The only disadvantage is that the room we stayed in didn’t have microwave and coffee pot. I believe as a traveler I would expect the lodges to be equipped with some of the basic necessities. But overall a good place to stay.

View is amazing! Hot tub is great and open year round! Beat expectations!

Great place to stay. Walking into town is very easy, rooms are nice and comfortable, parking is good.

It was a nice venue for a wedding. It's set up to make the event go smoothly, with valet parking and a great view of the mountains.

Quaint older lodge that made some good upgrades, heater work very well. Good spot for an inexpensive stay in the area.

We stayed at the Discovery Lodge in July 2017. Overall, our stay was good. The rooms were rustic but clean and comfortable. We were a little surprised by no Air Conditioning, but our room was fairly comfortable most nights without it. The views are beautiful and the hotel was quiet. Some areas are a bit dated and definitely in need of some TLC. It is an easy walk to the downtown Estes area, and a short drive to Rocky Mountain National Park. The only real negative to our stay was dealing with the manager. We booked our stay in February and had asked about the availability of a pack and play, and were told that they had them available. There was no mention of them being available on a first-come, first-serve basis. When we arrived, the person at the front desk didn't know where to find the pack and plays. We were told that we would have to wait until the next morning. The next day, I went down to ask about it and was berated by the manager. She called me a liar, told me that I had certainly been informed that the pack and plays were on limited availability. I tried to show her the email that I had indicating that one would be available, and she would not hear it. She repeatedly told me to just sleep in the bed with my baby and it would be fine. I told her that was not an option for us due to health and safety concerns and she told me that was my problem then.

My husband and I were there 12/27/17 we took one of our random road trips from NC and this is where we ended up. The first night we stayed in the rooms on top next to office they were clean and plenty big enough. We decided to stay another night and went back and ended up on the lower side. This room was much bigger and looked much newer. We were very pleased with rate and rooms the only reason I didn’t give more stars is I didn’t pack a hair dryer and they didn’t have one in the rooms. Nothing opens in Estes Park before 8 so don’t worry about getting an early start only one restaurant opens at 6.

The views from the room are stunning, and the room itself is cozy and comfortable. The customer service and location are great as well. This is my 2nd stay here and I hope to stay here again in the future.

The mountain view from our window was great! Loved how downtown Estes Park is walking distance from the lodge and Rocky Mountain is just a short drive.

Perfect location for trips into the Eastern part of Rocky Mountain National Park. The rooms were clean, the bathroom was nice, and the cost was extremely reasonable. Would definitely recommend!

12/11/17 Dingy musty smelling room! Hotel staff is very unfriendly and not helpful at all. Our room had 2 beds and a futon that was extremely uncomfortable. In the middle of the night our smoke alarm started beeping because the battery was dead so we had to disconnect it. I showed it to the hotel staff and she just shrugged her shoulders. We paid for 2 nights but did not stay the second night due to all of these things so we left. This Hotel is very outdated and needs an upgrade!

Good for the price. Excellent location. My room had a pretty view of the onsite pond. The room was very clean upon arrival but had a weird setup. If laying on one side of the bed you had no view of the TV. The internet is very spotty and pretty much non-functional… but you're in Estes Park, go outside! Next time I would probably stay somewhere else but this was a good last-minute idea hotel.

We had the opportunity to stay at the Otis House over Thanksgiving. The Otis House is a modular, has very drafty windows (the wind blew horribly), and didn't have any pot holders/kitchen towels in it. There were very few paper towels and trash bags. We did book the place for 3 nights. There were 11 of us that stayed and we had plenty of room. Just those few things that we needed. The temperature of the house was crazy, either too hot or too cold, but otherwise, we did have a blast and would recommend it. Thank you for allowing us to make many Thanksgiving memories.

The rooms are decent and hot tub is open to end of October. Couple negatives — no microwave in the room, no coffee pot, no breakfast and if you are not here till after 9 pm, you should call and make arrangements because the office is closed 9 pm to 7 am. Enjoyed the hot tub with a view of the mountains!

Nice place hot tub is small and looks different. Rooms were nice but the wind was so powerful that it was blowing through the windows but the furnace was nice and warm and kept the room at the perfect temp.

Room was extremely hot … and in the middle of October! No A. C. In rooms. Wi-Fi didn’t work either. Room was clean, but I cannot recommend this place. If possible, find another place in Estes to stay.

The place got some stuff wrong. Like we asked for 1 queen but got 2 instead, the room we got also didn't really look like the picture but it was a nice room and great value for the price. And you really can not beat the location of the hotel. It is just a little ways from rocky mountain!

Affordable and clean, with a great view of the mountains. It was close to the downtown area and a couple restaurants as well. They also had a hot tub, which was unexpected. My only complaint is the bedding and linens. They only provided one towel and washcloth, and only two very flat pillows, which was problematic when there were two people staying in the room. I would recommend bringing your own towels and pillows, but the relative cheapness mostly made up for the lack.

Large, comfortable, clean room. Friendly staff. Good coffee in the mornings. Outdoor hot tub with views of the mountains is a bonus. Only downside was that when we tried to use the Wi-Fi in our room it wasn't very good. Though, it may have been a temporary problem, as we didn't try to use it again.

Its an okay place to stay if you are on a budget. Free Wi-Fi hardly works. Room is nice and clean. No A/C in the room I was in just a box fan to move the air around.

My husband and I stayed at the Discovery Lodge in November 2016 and were so happy with everything! The views were gorgeous, the rooms comfortable and the staff were friendly. If we are ever lucky enough to make it back to Estes Park we would stay there again in a heartbeat! The hot tub/spa has a great view of the mountains!

Very nice, clean and well decorated rooms with cabin theme — wooden walls and beautiful pictures of nearby Rocky Mountain Park. Thick carpet rather than the dingy kind found in most motels. Spacious, sunny lobby with pots of coffee and tea. The only thing it is missing is a gym — but then most people are here to go hiking in the nearby mountains.

Lady (owner? ) at front desk, with the raspy voice, should not be allowed to interact with customers. Not a great first impression. Her negative attitude, and grumpy personality can ruin a good mood. Hot tub is definitely not big enough. Can fit 4 people (max) comfortably. Luke warm shower in evening due to not enough hot water. Horseshoe pits need a little TLC. The other people working at front desk were nice. Room was roomy and clean. Overall, not to horrible. Elk were awesome! We would probably stay there again.

The blue fuzzy blankets had dried crusty spots on them, obviously not washed. Disgusting. The toilet was super short and an old pink. Shower was old and small. The playground and pond were really nice. Old motel. Won't go back.

Lovely location. Very close to Estes park downtown. Perfect place to see 4th July fireworks.

We loved our stay here. Very convenient, the staff was very friendly even with late arrival and early check out, they were more helpful than other places when it came to tourism questions and much more. The room was very clean and the bed was very comfortable!

Great atmosphere. Very rustic feeling. Helpful and friendly front desk staff. Reasonable room rates. Great views from the rooms, caribou hang out on the property. Parking is a bit funky… enough spaces for only 1 car per room. No free breakfast. Bathrooms seem like they haven't been updated in a while.

4 time guest. Always consistent with friendly staff and pleasant comfortable clean rooms. Feels like visiting an Old friend again! Great location and mountain views! Only reason for not earning 5 stars is no A/C. I will return again. John V.

The discovery lodge made my Estes park visit last fall a resounding success. The rooms were very spacious, kept very clean, and it was a delight to walk around the pond included in the spacious open grounds. The staff was super friendly and carried a genuine customer service attitude I seldom see most places. I will absolutely be including the Discovery Lodge in planning my return visit to Estes.

Great location to the Natl Park and the downtown. Elk walked right in front of my room. Very cool. They have a hot tub which is nice. I would stay here again. GREAT value for the money.

Catch this place off season and get some great deals. Brian was great at checking us in and out and is very informative about the area. The room was great with a great view and herds of Elk roam the pond during the day which is also stocked with fish just for the guest. The Queen Suites with fireplaces are awesome as well.

My family and I stayed at the Discovery Lodge over a weekend this October while attending a Ki Aikido martial arts seminar hosted on the hotel grounds. The two-room suite we we got was perfect for us: roomy, warm, tastefully decorated and sparkling clean — — a wonderful home away from home. The Lodge is centrally located in Estes Park, so we were able to walk to restaurants, shops, supermarkets and other attractions throughout our stay. We loved it and would recommend the Discovery Lodge to anyone wanting great accommodations without breaking the bank.

My sister and I spent 6 days at the discovery Lodge August 19-25 2015. The lodge is near gas stations, restaurants, Grocery store, and near downtown Estes Park. It is set enough outside of the busy downtown area near a golf course and Lake Estes, with a peaceful effect after a busy day hiking. Our room had a balcony on the second level with a very nice view of the mountains. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms clean with comfortable beds. I will return to the Discovery Lodge again.

Between dislike and okay. We are in our last day of a 3 day stay in their fireplace suite. $220 per night. Spacious clean room with a great view. Very few accommodations. Has a small fridge and small microwave. No A/C, cooking equipment, kitchenette, grill, not even a coffee pot in our room. They've told us for 2 days they are bringing one, still don't have one. "pet friendly", but we couldn't leave our well trained dog in the room for an hour or two to go to a restaurant without being in a crate. We weren't informed and we didn't anticipate that. So, we had to go to the local pet supply and buy one for $170. We will probably never have to use it again. Wasn't a great experience for us. We very much enjoy Estes Park. We will not be staying here next time. Different circumstances might be better for someone else.

Stay here 2 nights with friends from Florida and was a nice clean room friendly staff. Really enjoyed our stay.

Rooms were clean. Quiet area. Staff friendly and helpful.

Had some issues the first night there. Was not given a pet friendly room, even though the reservation was made with one. We were scolded the next day (we didn't arrive until 11pm the night before, so didn't get to speak with anyone once arrived since their office closes at 9pm) and asked to move to another room, then accused of leaving 'lots of stains' on the sheets of the bed which had to be 'completely thrown away'. We slept in said bed, and did not notice any stains whatsoever (we felt like it was their way to punish us for having a dog in the room). Was moved into a room where the heater didn't work (sucks finding that out at midnight in — degree weather when no one is in the office to tell) and no extra linens. The price was decent for the hotel, but not sure I'd actually stay there again or recommend it to anyone else.

We had phenomenal customer service while staying over 4th of July weekend. All employees truly had our best interests in mind. Excellent location, great mountain views and the rooms were nice. Would stay here again.

Can't beat the price and friendly service this place offers. I came here for a weekend getaway with my wife and we both fell in love with this place. Nice, cozy rooms with great views of the mountains. We will certainly stay here everytime we visit RMNP.

I am actually here right now! This place is adorable and super clean! Under $65, tax included. Real friendly staff, quick check in, walking distance to downtown, I am so comfortable here! The shampoo is pantene, not that cheap stuff that leaves your hair un able to get a comb thru. The ONLY thing I didnt understand was no microwave or blow dryer! Yikes! I will absolutely be back, I will just bring a blow dryer and I need to lay off the pizza, anyway! I'll put a nice salad in the available refrigerator. You have to check this place out, its awesome.

According to the photos I thought this place was going to be a little more ghetto but I actually loved staying here. Selling Points: The selling point for me was the Hot Tub — awesome. The location was walking distance from downtown — awesome. The host was super friendly welcoming and made me actually want to come back — awesome. The bathroom was redone and looks very modern — awesome. Conclusion: Hands down when I come to Estes Park this is where I'm going to be staying.

The lodge is very cute and cozy. The location is good; pricing is competitive; and the staff is approachable, jovial and always ready to help. Highly recommended.
