Family meal for 15. Sunday roast was fantastic. Landlord was really helpful and friendly. Arranged for the kids meal to come first so they didn’t have to wait.

If you're visiting Cowes this is a lovely place to eat, staff friendly and helpful & the food was lovely.

We have just got back from a long weekend in Cowes and stayed at the Fountain Inn. It is ideally located in the centre of the town right on the front by the ferry terminal. The staff were great, very friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome.
I would happily go back.

Had dinner at the Inn tonight. Fish and chips and Pimm’s. Excellent. Sober the day at Osborne, wanted to have dinner in Cowes before heading back to Southampton and then London. Excellent service.

Southern fried Chicken burger was terrible. Dried lettuce, over cooked chicken and onion rings wouldn’t cut with a knife. The dressing had totally been left off. Desert had a picture of a side of ice cream but it came with cream. Kitchen clearly hasn’t a clue! It’s the fourth year running that I have been there when visiting the island and never been this bad! Will never go back!

Poor service, no vodka. Food slow to arrive then overdone ýuck.

Brilliant services, nice and friendly staff, fair prices. There is two menus to choose from, first one with lower prices, is normally for locals and it calles saver menu, and the another one for people coming from outside the island, and it's a little bit more pricy, but it's usually bigger portion.

I’ve stayed here and the rooms are good and comfy. It is perfectly located for the red jet. Great for a beer in the sun at the back while you are waiting for the ferry. Nice place to just watch the world go by. Staff friendly and good toilet facilities. Good for work if you need to stay in Cowes.

Friendly little boutique hotel. No lift though so be prepared to walk up the stairs.

Main course took half an hour, which was acceptable. Waited for 50 mins for dessert, then found out there was a 40 min wait for food. When we asked where our ice cream was, we were given a refund on desserts. Fantastic service & toilets were clean. We will visit again.

Ordered 2x the half a chicken meals was slightly confused with what appeared to be an extremely dried up anorexic sparrows on our plates, complained to the dope behind the bar who had taken our order whos only reply was that's how they come in frozen! Told him I'd like a refund or at least apart refund his only answer was I'll pass on your comments to the chef! The poor waiter working on his own rushed off his feet was a nice lad while dope behind the bar just stood about lolling smug twiddling his thumbs seemed to enjoy ppl sending back food orders… Absolutely diabolical won't be wasting money eating crap thats misleading again.

I did have a great apply of bacon and scallop. As pubs go though… it's 'nice' but not the charm that some pubs have in abundance.

Had dinner and drinks there with my partner. Atmosphere was Pleasant and staff was friendly and caring. Food was very tasty and will go back.

Nice good value for money food, and friendly staff. Although the smell of smoking was strong in the bar, as the doors were left open by the smoking area and it was all blowing in.

The Landlady made Us feel very Welcome, on Our visit to Cowes, It was like Home from Home, with the Weather, (Ha-Ha, Morecambe, ) a pleasant surrounding, Good Bar Staff, Yes IF You're in Cowes this Establishment is Well worth a Visit,

Excellent food and very reasonably priced which is unusual in East Cowes. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a nice meal without having your pants pulled down over the price. Oh and did I mention that they have Aspall cider on tap too…

Classic hotel, old facilities. No elevators, no capacity for high shower demand. Nice bar. Well enough breakfast. Very well located, almost "in the ferry".

2nd visit here and the second disaster
The first I ordered sausage and mash that took an hour to arrive and had to rush down to catch the red jet.
Today… (maybe it’s me) ordered a pint of aspals cider and got a lager.
Ordered the ruddles ale pie and got a beef rib.
Fiancée finished her food before the correct food has been delivered.
What am I doing wrong?

A great pub, with fantastic food and friendly service all in all a great experience. A must visit if your in Cowes.

Very friendly staff, lovely food — the Christmas menu was especially delicious and varied. Friday night promotion in Prosecco. Comfortable and smart interior — also a hotel. Worth a try.

Great service here from Gemma and Joe today. Food is reasonably priced, also with a £4.99 menu. They do great all day breakfast ad fish and chips!

Food is surprisingly good at a reasonable price, the Calamari is always very good and that's a tricky thing. Food is available in the bar and a restaurant area. Easy access straight from the Red Jet terminal from Southampton. We go here quite a bit and we don't live on the Isle of Wight.

Having previously used the hotel for business myself and my partner decided to stay when we visited the island on our holiday. Our stay was ok, the rooms are very old and there were damp patches everywhere, however it was clean enough and the location very good. It is worth mentioning that the room is extremely warm so if you are travelling in the Summer months or get hot easily take a fan. We were pleased we did! There is no parking on site, we parked at a public car park around the corner. When we were initially greeted and checked in, the bar man was very pleasant and reasonably efficient. Breakfast was lovely, a good selection of cereal, fruit, yogurt, fruit juice etc and you could also pick an option from the hot menu which was lovely. A nice feature was that you could eat outside overlooking the harbour. The problem however, and the unfortunate reason I felt compelled to write this review was the unhelpful service we received once we had left the hotel. I realised at about 10.30 at night that I had left my phone charger plugged in in the room we had stayed in so I phoned the hotel and explained the situation. The gentleman on the phone was helpful enough and told me that there was someone in the room now so he was unable to go and have a look, however checkout was at 11am and he would leave a note for the Manager and House Keeping to check in the morning.

We always visit The Fountain when we're on the island… some of the best chocolate brownies we've had. The portion was smaller than usual but still yummy. We had burgers for dinner which were really tasty. All in all pretty goid2on a busy evening at the start of Cowes week.

Myself, my daughter and 2 grandchildren had lunch at The Fountain Inn, Cowes at lunch time today. I must say the food was a great disappointment, we ordered the rib of beef Sunday roast for three of us and a chicken roast. When the the food came the gravy was so thick and salty we couldn't eat the dinner. I did mention this to the barman and they gave us some thinner gravy to pour onto the salty stuff! The menu also said the dinner would have cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets, when we asked where they were, apparently the freezers had broken down last week and there weren't any. We did get some extra broccoli to compensate. I think this was a very poor meal considering The amount we spent on lunch. It may have been a good idea to put up a notice saying certain items we're not available. Overall a disappointing experience.

Friendly staff. Very handily located in centre of Cowes and close to fast ferry terminal. On the not so good side the place can suffer from noise coming off the nearby pubs and buses driving under it to stop at the same terminal. Also maintenance of the rooms is not always impeccable with various instances of plumbing, heating or TV not working as they should. Breakfast is ok but do not expect anything fancy. There may be better value for money places in Cowes but you will struggle to find them as centrally located.

Appalling experience in this pub with my friends Darren Cooper and particularly Spencer Groom on sunday. After arriving around 2pm as we had to get to the ferry terminal for 4pm, thinking we would have a leisurely sunday lunch. It was half full but gradually got busier. Unfortunately it wasn't very clear from the main menu that sandwiches and the 'value' menu were not available on sundays and it was to the very obvious annoyance of the barman (who we were later told was the m…anager) that one of us had requested this. In fact everything was too much trouble for him, even when a lady behind us requested a beer he didn't have he insisted another was 'the same' and opened the bottle and rang up the sale before she could agree! A 30 second delay in our order while Darren chose again was 'holding everyone up'… well that one other lady that was at the bar anyway. So we were told there would be a 25 minute wait for food, no problem. After around 30 minutes mine and darrens scampi arrived but no roast for spencer. Another 15 minutes passed and spencer went up to the bar and queried where his was, the barman said 'well I told you 25 minutes' to which spencer replied its been 45 now? The barman opened the door to the kitchen and bellowed our table number out. Another 15 minutes pass, myself and darren are well finished.

All meals were very tasty and we enjoyed them. One had dressing on the salad when we had asked for none. We didn't complain so they had no opportunity to put it right. The meals were brought in good time and the staff were very nice.

A very disappointing experience. We returned after having a lovely meal last year. Two of our meals came with half the vegetables missing and only on our asking we're we told the veg that had turned up was not edible. The chef did do some extra of the veg he had. We then waited 30 minutes for two puddings and a coffee. Tables wasn't cleared in time for pudding also staff at one point all outside smoking so no staff behind bar. At one point staff were on their mobiles behind bar. Bar often unattended. We will not be returning service was extremely poor.

The Fountain Hotel is conveniently located a minute from the Redjet (passenger ferry between Southampton and the Isle of Wight). The bar and outside seating area get very busy, particularly at the weekend.

Do not eat breakfast here. An absolute disgrace, terrible service, we waited forever and got all our plates at different times so my friend missed the ferry. Then they literally served me a microwaved week old Eggo waffle with toffee sauce… Good thing I could laugh at it with my mates!

It was a busy Friday but managed to find a table to accommodate 10 of us. Food was pretty good and arrived quickly despite it being busy. Good range of food and drink. Service at bar was slow and tables etc a bit untidy. Great location close to ferry terminal and bus stops. Right in centre of town.

Fine. Poor selection of real ales but good value food offers.

Ate at the Fountain for lunch today, we weren't very hungry so just ordered pate off the starters menu. We'll all I can say is that it's a good job we weren't hungry, the pate came in a smallish pot caked in a horrible layer of solid butter. There was actually an ok amount of pate in the pot once we'd scraped away the fatty layer but one small piece of toasted bread, really?! A bit on the tight side even for a starter.

My wife and I stopped at the Fountain for Sunday lunch. The roast beef was incredibly tough and the green vegetables raw.

Great atmosphere, very clean, good food, OK prices! Hunters chicken recommended! If the rooms are like the local I book the next time here.

Not great if you get a room at the back and was told it was quiet. Then find out there is a live band playing till midnight. Totally out of order.
